I guess i differ with people on images vs emotions. I am more lyrical in my work and have edited drafts at least 10 times before they are what I want. Most great song lyrics are emotive. A lot of these images are cold, barren, disturbed at times. How are people going to visualize something they've never seen a lot of times the poet doesn't either . Why can't we like both anyways. My point is people feel pain, hate, anger, few see maggots eating a freshly severed skull. These poets are sucking up to the publisher who has a short attention span and a lack of emotional compass let alone very little drive or intellect to read a well crafted poem that may be more than 20 lines long. Should you not write for an audience of readers, not a publisher who wants what is in a how to book?
