I have brought my posh lady back from Poland last week - I'm really happy to have her with me again. She's such a graceful doll to look at.

I've been SO busy lately, doing lots and lots of hillwalking, taking care of my new adorable pets, that I didn't really have time to update this blog, but I'll try to make up for that soon.

I'm in the midst of preparing things for tomorrow's Market in Edinburgh (still a lot on my TO DO list, snap!), and in the meantime carrying out mysterious and smelly experiments - I have no aspirations to turn metals into gold, but discovering a perfect verdigris patina formula would be neat!

Currently trying out the apple cider vinegar and salt solution - I guess it's more suitable for larger pieces, as it didn't turn out that nice on small ones, but maybe it's just me, being crappy chemist...

Cachée dans la forêt shoes #3: "Chasing Time" & The Market in Edinburgh

I am happy to present you the third pair of One Of A Kind shoes by Cachée dans la forêt.

This pair was commissioned, and the person who ordered them, really liked the little clock images on the 2nd pair, hence the clock motif again. I had a lot of fun making them, even though they are quite time consuming!

I am also glad to inform you that Cachée dans la forêt will be visiting Edinburgh on Saturday and taking part in The Market, design and makers market organised by lovely Amelia from Little Red and her friends.

It takes place in St Columbas-by-the-Castle on Saturday, 28th April, at 11am to 5pm.

Cachée dans la forêt shoes #2: "The Time Traveller's Wife"

This is the second pair of limited collection of One Of A Kind shoes by Cachée dans la forêt.
I really enjoyed making the prototype pair you could see on a teaser photo some time ago, and I have decided to continue the project.

Each pair of shoes will have totally different design, and there will be one pair of each design only, in a random size, so I can guarantee you'll never have to worry about meeting someone dressed the same as you at the party! ^-^
Of course it's also possible to commission the shoes in your size with your own design - I love making bespoke pieces for you!

Those gorgeous Mary Janes are adorned with filigree brass rosettes with images of ancient clocks hidden under magnifying glass domes, ribbon bows and roses, and brass bows on the heel parts, those shoes are romantic but with a bit of a twist.
Perfect for time travellers, sentimental souls or steampunk adventurers!

Suitable for everyday wear & certain to suit a wide range of outfits, the canvas shoes feature a buckled strap to the top of the foot ensuring a secure fit, and a gorgeous floral patterned inner. Textile upper and inner, synthetic sole.
They are really comfortable - I have been wearing the prototype pair #1 for a long time now and I have to say the quality of the shoes is superb!

The pair is size 7 UK / 40 EU.

The theme of the night is St. Valentine's Day Massacre- here's some info from The Gatsby Club website:

Throughout the 1920's mobsters engaged in street battles over issues of control. Gang warfare reached its climax in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. On February 14, 1929, seven men were killed in a Chicago garage by five unknown men wearing police uniforms. Witnesses were unable to establish their identity, and the coroner's jury did not find sufficient evidence to prosecute anyone. Al Capone was blamed for the Massacre, even though he was in Florida at the time. To this day, the perpetrators' identity remains a mystery...

With this in mind think gangsters and molls, cops and robbers, vamps and vixens, Al Capone, black and white movies, and hidden identity!

Venture within the opulent, lavish period surroundings of Glasgow University's Debates Chamber, and wet your whistle with The Gatsby Club's exclusive range of cocktails! Sit back and enjoy a variety show of music-hall comedy, singers, burlesque acts and more, hosted by those caballeros of cabaret, The Creative Martyrs! (A full line-up will be announced in due course along with some other surprises expected on the night!)

I've been packing etsy orders recently and took few photos.
All the wee boxes are hand made by awesome me - took ages to sort out the template and then assemble them, but I'm pretty proud of the result.

I had a really swell weekend, meeting friends and taking part in wonderful as always Granny Would Be Proud Fair. Got a marvellous owl themed print from gifted Libby Walker, three vintage hand-coloured postcards and ate a truly gorgeous lemon and white chocolate cake by Lewa Thomas from Lewalicious Cakes.

You can meet me next Sunday (5th February) at Gin in Teacups in Chambre 69 by Nelson Mandela Square in Glasgow. I'll be happy to help you find a gorgeous gift for your Valentine.

Pierrot Lunaire, Op. 21

She has arrived on Monday, and I'm SO in love with her.
She received a name after Arnold Schönberg's melodrama, Pierrot Lunaire, Op. 21, as I love the piece and I love the story it tells.

I adore her chubby body and the way she poses.

I just can't wait to have her painted and ready!

Next week, by this time, I'm going to be in Glasgow, Scotland, setting off with the new chapter of my funny life.
I've been waiting for so long for that moment to arrive - first I've been putting my money off, then I had that unfortunate accident, and I had to recover for long, postponing the whole thing for over two months that seemed like ages.

And now, that it's finally that close and I should be all happy, I actually feel a bit sad, and there's a number of wonderful people to blame for that. I hope I see them again soon.

I've set off with packing- it's so hard to decide what to take, and what to leave behind. I wish I actually could be as consistent in my plans to reduce my belongings as Dave from The 100 Thing Challenge, but that's just not happening (although I did reduce them significantly).
Apart from basic things like clothes etc, there are also books &dolls to take, all the things I use to create my jewellery, I'd love to take at least one film camera with me as well... It all gives me a headache when I think about it...

For those of you who live in (or are just passing through) Glasgow, you can meet me pretty soon during wonderful craft & fashion events, that I'm happy to take part in. I'll write about the dates and places in the next post. ♥

Confitures! ♥

I've just received a wonderful surprise gift from France, from my dear friend, Justyna, who has mastered the art of making exquisite confitures (not even mentioning other marvels she does in the kitchen).
Unfortunately, one jar, containing the confiture of apricots with lavernder (oh-my-god!) didn't survive the journey - risking my own life I had to try it though (being careful not to eat any glass) - it was BEYOND AWESOME!
Enclosed was one of my favourite books of all times - "Un homme qui dort" by Georges Perec - finally I'll have the opportunity to read it in original language.

This really made my day, and was a beautiful week overture.

I got tempted by stunning repaints of Monster High dolls I saw recently and got myself two of them, and I already want more I must admit. I adore their gentle and beautifully shaped bodies and surprisingly interesting face molds (once you wash off that awful slutty decal faces they were given by Mattel), different for every doll.

Ladybug!

The world around is so huge and overwhelming, this little Ladybug friend of mine seems to be in a constant shock!

This is a repaint of a ddung knockoff doll, done my magnificently talented Kamarza. She's done OH so great, and I've been most happy to find this little creature in the package that arrived at my doorstep today.

The title for the post is taken from "Kentucky Avenue", one of my favourite songs by Tom Waits, containing some of his childhood memories.

It has suddenly struck me that Marcel, one of my dolls, is just the kind of a boy that could be Waits' childhood companion - mischievous yet full of energy and imaginative. Running round the neighbourhood all day, being a nuisance to the local community but at the same time charming in his own, boyish way.

And here he is, a hole in his sock and not-so-clean feet, after a busy day of climbing trees, running and making up big adventures. I envy him, I really do.

Having lots of time on my hands recently and being forced by circumstances to stay at home, I've been working on custom jewellery commissions recently.
Here are two examples of pieces I've made: the first one was for Kamarza, a gifted doll artist, depicting her quirky yet wonderful dolls' orphanage:
