I was unfamiliar with Jared before I read his book. I was assuming that it might be a harsh, judgmental response to those who didn't have the same belief system that he did. And although he was very clear with his own views, I felt his writing was style was inviting, making it a book that I wouldn't be afraid of giving to non-Christians to start a dialog with them. For me his humor helped in these regards. I do think it was wise, however, to put much of the humor in the footnotes. It leaves it up to the reader to put those comments into the flow of the writing or leave them out.

Digesting everything written here, you know you have hit a very personal note of several things I struggle with and have struggled with for a long time now. Such a powerful and deeply motivating presentation. Really can't get a grasp for words right now. I know that I feel very distant from the Lord right now and I hunger for the closeness that I once had with Him. Especially now. I know that I don't reflect the Christ-like image that God calls me to and what you have written about is probably my strongest weakness. I have very strong beliefs on a few "touchy" topics and my emotions get the very best of me. I lose all sense of thought and I start spewing exactly what I am thinking without a thought or a prayer first. It is disappointing to myself and to others, I'm sure. I appreciate what you are saying and I take heed of every word. Thank you for going ahead and posting this. I have truly been blessed by your words. I love you.

Hello Chris,

Thanks. Thanks for the article also. I found the article a little strange because it seemed to be from Bizarro world. I would think that secular universities lean more atheist, or at least agnostic than Christian.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Hi Cadmus,

Thanks for the shout out on the atheists on campus post. I like your site. I have a Twitter account, but haven't used it much. I like how you incorporate it into your blog.

Take care,

I know! That's what really struck me about it too. Especially the "He washes our feet even when we betray Him" quote. That really struck to my core. Because my life before Him was a huge betrayal and even now, if and when I betray Him He's still there to wash my feet. Totally awesome!

Cad - Wow - That was a gripping yet stunningly accurate picture of God's love for us! It's so intense and so amazing it's often difficult to put into words, but anyone who has walked that walk, and been loved when they didn't deserve to be, and loved when they did not want to, is going to get what the author is saying! Sounds like a great book, may have to add it to the queue!
