I mocked up a little registry with the latest tabletop in whites and golds. I love my everyday white Juliska berry-and-thread, and my super colorful Herend. Sometimes I wish I could scratch the itch of having fine (aka schmancy!) white china, too. I’ll just live vicariously through y’all.

We never got to release these pics of my best friend Becky’s wedding, featured in Southern Weddings V4. It’s really a loooong boring story why- but suffice it to say I’m thrilled to drop it in here in case you missed it in the mag itself! The ceremony + reception took place at DeBordieu, one of our favorite Lowcountry locales for weddings. Shot by A Bryan Photo, it was filled with love- definitely one of my favorite memories. Enjoy!

Hot or Not : Macarons/Macaroons

WHAT’S HOT:

Macaron ring boxes for any occasion’s bauble-related offering . . . like, oh-I-don’t-know, Mother’s Day? Great ‘maids gift, too. I’d settle for the real thing, too.

WHAT’S NOT:

Saying “macaron” (mah-ka-rauh) when you meant “mack-a-roon”. Macaroons are homespun coconut-encrused homely balls from Hell. It’s like “chicken or egg?” for me with coconut. Does coconut taste like suntan lotion or does every 80s beach memory reek of coconut? Anyway, Spelling + Pronunciation Police here- get it straight. Macaron = tiny bits of pastel ganache sammie heaven, typified by the grand Poobah of them all, Ladurée (though Payard’s a good stand-in.) Macaroons you can buy at the Piggly Wiggly.

It was a week of emergency appendectomies, stomach bugs, spring flings missed, enormous work pressure, just life’s highs and lows. Chaunce and I got nose-to-nose and prayed and remembered . . . this is all that matters. Happy Mama’s Day!

I “did my time” in gaie Paree, at the ripe age of 19. Pro: I lived above Le Fauchon in the 8th, around the corner from the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Con: I never met the likes of Jane Schulak, whose stunning work I discovered via David Stark, another favorite of mine. Below are just a few snaps from her spectacular luncheon at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.

Sometimes I’m overwhelmed by all the talent in this world.
