The play is both educational and fun; yes it is written in a way so that humour plays a significant role.... and we all how important that is in health care!

Future plans for the play include publication, development of CME's / CE's based on play excerpts and integration of excerpts into undergraduate curricula for chronic pain education.

So if you could have a look, forward to someone you might think would be interested in it, buy tickets, etc it would be greatly appreciated... and I think you will enjoy it as well.

From the playwright:

Laugh or cry? When those are your only two options, wouldn’t you rather laugh?

Isabelle and Brad are living the suburban dream, soccer practices and piano lessons dominate their evenings, and dreams of retirement dominate their nights - the normal happy couple next door. And then one day they aren’t. Isabelle gets sick and their lives change forever, soccer practices become doctors appointments, retirement savings become pharmaceutical purchases and friends either help out too much or disappear altogether.

The Pain Diaries: A Love Story takes a comedic look at how lives are changed by chronic events, and how the human spirit can survive almost anything. Laugh until it hurts, there will be doctors in the house.

The Pain Diaries: A Love Story is the first play by Calgary author, Deborah Nicholson and has won a national award. Directed by David LeReaney and starring Karen Johnson Diamond.

Download poster

CE: 2010 Alberta Respiratory Disease Symposium

Presented by The Lung Association - Alberta & We strive to keep our staff engaged and excited about the work we do. If the thought of filling 400 prescriptions a day at a chain store is appealing to you then, you might want to stop reading here. If, however, you are interested in problem solving, compounding, and customer service then I believe I have the job for you. We are in the process of developing a state of the art compounding practise to go along with our home-care/sports medicine division and our basic prescription business. Compounding is very interesting and rewarding as it allows you to solve medication issues for patients using novel preparations. You would only be required to work Mon - Fri 9-5:30, no evenings, weekends, or holidays. This is a position that combines all the best parts of other technician jobs and puts them together in one. We look forward to meeting and working with you!

Apply confidentially to:
Steve Mamchur at:
Kenron Pharmacy
Fax: 403 282-5185
Ph: 403 289-7224

Job: Pharmacy Technician

OUTSTANDING PHARMACY TECHNICIAN OPPORTUNITY!

Kenron Pharmacy in Calgary is seeking a technician to participate in our growing novel practice.
The successful candidate will:

Demonstrate excellence in communication

Be innovative and willing to learn

Possess above average compounding skills

Be committed to customer service and teamwork

Exhibit analysis and problem assessment skills

Apply confidentially to:
Steve Mamchur at:
Kenron Pharmacy
Fax: 403 282-5185
Ph: 403 289-7224

steve@kenronpharmacy.com

Job: Instructor - Pharmacy Technician Program

Instructor – Pharmacy Technician Program (Casual)
Bow Valley College, Calgary
Health and Community Care
Competition 09FA-72

Bow Valley College is committed to training the workforce of the future. Pharm, CDE)

My name is Carol Wei and I am a pharmacist/certified diabetes educator. I have been asked by the Academic Detailing group to update the current list of community pharmacists/CDEs who do insulin starts and diabetes management on the www.talksfordocs.com website

The academic detailers are a group of pharmacist who give presentations to physicians, and other allied professionals on various topics. Both members are pharmacists and their goal is to present unbiased information. Last fall their topic was insulin analogues in DM2

An extension, of their information detailing, is to provide tools and resources for the physicians. One resource list that has been included is a list of pharmacist/CDEs who would be willing and accessible, to collaborate with physicians, on insulin starts and management. The web site is www.talksfordocs.com and the list will be located in a diabetes toolkit. Technically, the site is on the public domain so it is accessible to anyone; however, the target audience is certainly family physicians in Calgary. A disclaimer of sorts indicating this list is not all-inclusive will be attached. e.g. "this list may not be inclusive.".

If you are interested in having your name on such a list, please fill out the listing authorization form and fax c/o Carol Wei at 403-948-6993 (dedicated pharmacy fax).

A response by November 30 is required, as I will be submitted the ‘updated’ list to the academic detailing group the first week in December.

Regards,

Carol Wei, BScPhm CDE
Canada Safeway 0281
Airdrie, AB
(403) 948-2972

Job: FT/PT Pharmacy Technician

Shoppers Drug Mart #384, Centre Street has a position opening for a FT/PT Pharmacy Technician.
Dec. 1st start date.

Please contact Alina @ 403-520-7461 or by e-mail.

CE: Second Line Agents in Diabetes Management - Uncovering the Facts

Sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline

Presented by Norman Wong, MD, FRCPC, Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Calgary;
