HOLIDAY CARD LOVE
the glitz, the glam... San Francisco
---

This is one of the most beautiful cards I have seen. Mo, a calligrapher for Union Street Papery, created this card for the 2009 Holiday Season. I adore it!

Crafting + Sharing

a NEW annual holiday tradition
---

In 2009 that tradition started with the
3rd Annual Holiday Card Swap courtesy of...

Photo as seen on and courtesy of Brooklyn Bride!

My 2010 New Years/Holiday Card Original made for the
3rd Annual Holiday Card Swap from Brooklyn Bride!

For my job, I hunt daily through as many bridal blogs as I possibly can. I love to see what people are doing for their big days. I stumbled upon this opportunity when browsing through my top 5 bridal blogs {Once Wed, Style Me Pretty, Oh So Beautiful Paper, 100 Layer Cake + Brooklyn Bride}. I was so excited I went home at the end of the day and started dreaming up what I wanted to create. I knew I wanted to marry vintage + sparkles with a modern twist.

Personally, the final product was AMAZING, I loved it! You really can {almost} never go wrong when rhinestones + a little sparkle are involved. My favorite part and my most difficult challenge was what to write on the inside... so I decided song lyrics {courtesy of Kool and The Gang} would be the best way to some up my hopes for the New Year:

"Celebrate good times come on!
It's a celebration
Celebrate Good Times, come on!
Let's Celebrate"

{Here's to a New Year full of things to Celebrate!}

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I can't wait to take part in the holiday card exchange again next year! {In the mean time check out the Brooklyn Bride Blog- there are always new and innovative things being showcased over there!}

HAPPY 2K10!

more about Iron and Wine "Boy With A Coin", posted with vodpod
Two reasons I love this song: {1} the video itself. Let's be honest with ourselves, we could use a lot more music videos in our lives and a lot less reality shows. I feel like MTV has transformed itself into sad place for music, since music doesn't really live there anymore. Back to my point about the video... the women in this video have a strong, powerful look about them which when combined with the soft tone of the song and their flowing outfits, just makes for a great visual. {2} This song is so incredibly beautiful it is hard to stop listening to it. I first saw Iron and Wine 2 years ago at the Blue Grass Festival in San Francisco and they made me a believer with only one stroke on the guitar.
That was today's MUSIC MINUTE and I will be working on my musical dissection techniques as the weeks rolls on. If you have any suggestions for the music minute please do not hesitate to pass them along to me!
And as always, Enjoy.

more about "The xx - Crystalised", posted with vodpod
I have decided that there will be a new musical post daily - title to be decided "Music Minute" I am not in love with yet, any suggestions leave in the comments section below - since music is a HUGE inspiration in my life.
I love The XX because the sound makes me feel like I am in a secret club for some reason and their voices are addictive. I was first exposed to their gloriousness on indie1031.com [an amazing independent radio station I listened to in Orange County for years and is now available online only - I would take a listen if I were you] and I have become quite a fan almost over night.
Enjoy.

I THINK I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE!

---

And this little guy is what has stolen my heart. I originally saw this beauty onhollymaus.blogspot.com and instantly went on a hunt for my very own! After a little hinting to the boyfriend of what I wanted for Christmas (email telling exactly what I wanted and where to get it)... it arrived only days ago and is already in my possession and making my free time fun!

One thing that is very different about this camera... it is not digital. You cannot look at the picture and delete it if it is not what you expected, but that is the great part about this camera too. The film is slightly expensive (around $.75 per picture), but for me the instant gratification and tiny prints that are developed right before my eyes is worth every penny. I have already taken pictures of my shoes and added it on to the corresponding shoe boxes and have my wheels turning about an upcoming craft project.

I would say for anyone who remembers and enjoyed the Polaroid experience and also loves small things, because let's be honest tiny things are adorable, buy this camera. You can buy it at bhphoto.com or on ebay it ranges from $84.90 - $95 (film not included).

As the craft project develops I will post step by step instructions and pricing details. Now it is time to go and Fuji Instax my day away!

making snail mail fun again

______________

if you thought sending actual mail was lame, out of style or just too much work compared to your 140 character twitter messages imagine the look on your mom's face if you sent her a card that read, "personally i couldn't date anyone who wasn't in to saving the planet. unless, of course, they had a really big cock." yeah... that alone is wort the $.44 for the stamp.

these cards from kiss me kwik out of the united kingdom are some of the most amazing and line crossy cards i have ever seen. we sell them at union street papery and you can buy them directly from kiss me kwik at www.kissmekwik.co.uk

always good for a laugh, would win any funny card war and worth the look on your mom's face!

the man... the myth... the o.c. legend...

___________________

when i love something i really love it... and i really love all of jeff armstrong's art! jeff is straight out of the o.c. with the edginess that i love seeing from artists out of san francisco. my all time favorite piece of jeff's art is the half face called "chloroform." it is a 2' x 4' and i want to hang it in my apartment. i have often threatened to chloroform jeff in order to get it out of his house and into my hands.

my point is jeff needs an art show... have a hair salon with empty walls? bar that needs some new patrons?? perhaps you are stone brewery (an amazing brewery out of encinidas, california visit their website here - www.stonebrew.com) and since jeff loves you, you could love jeff and his art!
