First of all here is a brief description of the Callanetics Evolution or CallaneticsEvolution product:-

"CallaneticsEvolution Body by Design Toning Program introduces new exercises and training techniques. This revolutionary fitness program features three different types of muscle pulsing and unique body alignment principles that work together allowing you to design the body you've always wanted. Also included in this DVD! Callanetics Concepts teaches you the principles of the Callanetics Method which include the pelvic floor muscles and body alignment. And, Callanetics To Go shows you how to incorporate Callanetics into your everyday life."

I purchased this latest Callanetics dvd only a week ago so I am still watching and learning from what it has to teach. My initial impression is that it is ver very good. Here are some of the points that really make the callanetics dvd stand out: -

Shows 3 levels of difficulty to allow room to grow

Very classy, modern production

Includes thigh squeeze and the open & close

Lots of time is spent setting up each exercise, which allows you to follow at your own pace

Includes more upper body work via the use of weights and pushups

Clearly gives results (just look at the demonstrators if you have any doubt)

The way the video is presented and laid out makes it very easy for both the beginner and expert a like. I have watched the dvd twice now to ensure that I get the most from it. I really like the pace of the dvd and the way in which it goes into some depth on how to exactly do each callanetics exercise and how to set each one up before you begin.

My final thoughts. If you are starting out your callanetics exercises routine our you want to expand on your current routines then I would 100% recommend this dvd to you. You will have noticed that I have included some of the Callanetics Evolution items from eBay below. I highly recommend you buy from eBay as you will get the best price. I bought mine from eBay and very pleased with the swift delivery!

Callan, whose exercise regime, now known as Callanetics, became a very popular fad in the mid-1980s. According to a Time magazine profile from March 1986, Pinckney is a ninth-generation descendant of one of the founding families of the state of South Carolina. Callan was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia in the midst of old Southern opulence. She was also born with physical deformities of her spine and legs which required her to wear steel braces for seven years. She rebelled against the constraints of her social background, and left the United States without completing her college degree for what would become an eleven-year trek around the world.

Upon Callans return in 1972, and faced with more health problems, she developed an exercise regime based on ballet lessons that she had taken as a child. The success of these encouraged her to proselytize her techniques among her friends and eventually to write a book called Callanetics. Although slow to take off, Pinckney's persistence paid off and book sales soared on the back of appearances on the daytime TV circuit, notably on shows hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Sally Jessy Raphael and Phil Donahue. The book went on to become a major bestseller in the fitness genre and spawned a popular video as well.

Ok so you want to get started? Well, as with any exercise routine it is importent that you spend a little time warming up your body. Not only does a quick warmup prevent any injuries but it also ensures that you get the best out of your exercises by preparing your muscles for more strenuous, demanding activity. Of course you can pretty much do any warmup exercises you want. I normally go for a quicj jog or run for about 10 - 15 minutes before I do any of my callanetics routines.

WARM-UP #1 This warmup involves stretching your spine by either hanging from a bar or if you don't have a bar using a door at home. If your feet are touching the floor then simply bend your knees to your waist. Hold this position for as long as you can and then relax. Repeat this exercise two more times. You should feel nice and warmed-up at this point. Take a few mins break!

WARM-UP #2 This is a classic warmup exercise. From a standing postion bend forward at the waist with your arms stretched out in fromt of you. Gently reach down to touch you toes (or the floor if you can manage it). Remain in that postion for a few seconds and then begin to raise yourself back to the standing starting postion. Repeat this exercise two more times. If your back begins to hurt, give yourself a little break between each one.

WARM-UP #3 The 3rd and final warmup exercise involves raising each knee in turn as though you are running. You need to do this is a slow and controlled manner. As you raise each knee, raise up on your toes on the opposite leg. Each knee should be raised for a count of one if possible. One foot should always be on the floor.

No doubt you are thinking yeah yeah I've heard all this before. Another get fit quick scheme! But as I now know, along with these other people, it DOES work! I thought it would be a good idea at this point to show you some untouched pictures of peoples progress using the Callanetics program. I need to point out that Callan Pinckney prided herself at not editing or manipulating any of her before and after pictures so I will honour her way and show you peoples REAL progress.
