In Galatians 3:1-14, the Apostle Paul reminds us that the just shall live by faith. This truth is centered in the gospel message: we are justified before God not by works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse by becoming a curse for us on the cross, so that the blessing of Abraham would come to all who believe. Living by faith means trusting daily in Christ’s finished work—resting in His grace and relying on the Holy Spirit’s power and strength rather than the strength of our flesh and efforts.

The just shall live by faith is more than a mere statement. It is how we are saved, for we are saved by grace through faith. It is how we are to live, for we are to walk by faith not by sight.

We must depend upon Jesus Christ for everything.

En Gálatas 3:1-14, el apóstol Pablo nos recuerda que el justo por la fe vivirá. Esta verdad se centra en el mensaje del evangelio: somos justificados ante Dios no por las obras de la ley, sino únicamente mediante la fe en Jesucristo.

Jesucristo nos redimió de la maldición al hacerse maldición por nosotros en la cruz, para que la bendición de Abraham llegara a todos los que creen. Vivir por fe significa confiar cada día en la obra consumada de Cristo: descansar en su gracia y apoyarnos en el poder y la fortaleza del Espíritu Santo, en lugar de confiar en las fuerzas de nuestra propia carne y en nuestros esfuerzos.

La afirmación «el justo vivirá por la fe» es más que una simple declaración. Es el medio por el cual somos salvos, pues somos salvos por gracia mediante la fe. Es también la manera en que debemos vivir, ya que hemos de andar por fe y no por vista.

Debemos depender de Jesucristo para todo.

La vida cristiana no consiste en esforzarse por ganar la aprobación de Dios mediante nuestros propios esfuerzos. Como concluye Pablo al final de Gálatas 2, también debemos morir a la Ley para que sea posible vivir para Dios.

Luego, en Gálatas 2:20, Pablo hace seis declaraciones sobre su independencia de la Ley.

Pablo escribe: “Con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado, y ya no vivo yo, mas vive Cristo en mí.”

Pablo no se limitaba a identificarse con la cruz de Cristo; se consideraba a sí mismo crucificado juntamente con Cristo en la cruz.

Esto es como el caso del ladrón en la cruz, quien literalmente murió y fue crucificado junto a Jesucristo, aunque moría en su propia cruz.

El ladrón en la cruz merecía morir; era un criminal condenado que cumplía su propia sentencia de muerte. Sin embargo, no necesitó ser bautizado ni circuncidado para recibir la salvación a través de Jesucristo.

Este ladrón en la cruz es una imagen de nosotros, y probablemente sea la imagen que Pablo tenía en mente cuando escribió: “Con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado.”

The Christian life is not about striving to earn God’s approval through your efforts. As Paul concludes at the end of Galatians 2, we must also die to the Law, so that it’s possible to live for God.

Then in Galatians 2:20, Paul makes 6 declarations of his independence from the Law.

Paul writes, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me”

Paul didn’t simply identify with the cross of Christ; Paul considered himself as being crucified together with Christ on the cross.

This is like the thief on the cross, who literally died and was crucified together with Jesus Christ, yet dying on his own cross.

The thief on the cross deserved to die, and was a condemned criminal serving his own sentence of death. Yet, he didn’t have to be Baptized, nor circumcized, in order to receive salvation through Jesus Christ.

This thief on the cross is a picture of us, and is likely the picture Paul envisioned when he wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ.”

En Gálatas 2, el apóstol Pablo lleva a Jerusalén a Tito, un fiel creyente griego, como prueba viviente del poder transformador del Evangelio de la Gracia. Tito era un creyente gentil y no necesitaba ser circuncidado para recibir la salvación eterna.

Tito era la prueba de que Dios puede salvar a los gentiles sin necesidad de la circuncisión. Él representaba el fruto espiritual vivo de la labor misionera de Pablo: un testimonio de la gracia de Dios entre los gentiles. A pesar de no estar circuncidado, Tito fue plenamente aceptado por los apóstoles, lo que demuestra que la salvación proviene de la gracia de Dios —únicamente mediante la fe en Cristo— y no de obras religiosas.

Pablo nos recuerda a los cristianos de hoy que la aparición de frutos espirituales como evidencia del llamado de Dios es un proceso que requiere tiempo.
