Clippy has gone all Notting Hill. We have moved to our new office in Kensal Rise. We can now gaze in with envy and rattle the bars of the 'Innocent Smoothie' office, which is just next door. They have all the fun there, dashing around in mini vans covered in grass, playing ping pong and slouching on bean bags. I want to work there. I suppose they get free smoothies too………

I can't really complain, my new local is the gorgeous Pizza East and just around the corner is Portobello market - back to where Clippykit all began.

The Clippy girls decided to bunk off work at lunch time to make Gyoza with our new Japanese intern, Akane.... They look ever so impressive and taste delicious, this recipe makes about 20 - here's how:

INGREDIENTS

*Gyoza Wrappers  (I have spotted these in Waitrose for a million pounds but a Chinese supermarket is best)

*500gms Minced pork

*Spring Onion x 2

*about 8 leaves of Chinese Cabbage

* an inch of Ginger

*a tablespoon of Sesame Oil

*big handful of chives

*soy sauce / salt / Chili oil

1. Finely chop all the vegetables

2. Put the chopped cabbage into a bowl with salt and let it sit for at least 10 minutes

3. Give the cabbage a really good squeeze to drain water out of it.

4. Mush everything together in a bowl (not the soy or chili oil).  You have to do this the Japanese way using your hands and squish squish squish.

5. have a small plate with some cold water to hand

6. Put a teaspoon of the mixture in the center of your gyoza wrapper

7. pinch the edge of gyoza wrapper and make pleats (youtube might help you here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spsGbDWauf4) 

8. Pour one spoon of frying oil in a pan.  Heat over a low/medium heat for 1-2mins

9. put your dumplings in the pan. Cook for 10 mins or until the bottoms are browned (a bit of flour makes them extra cripsy)

10. Nearly there... pour 2-3 spoons of water into a pan and put a lid on.  Leave for another 10 mins.

TA DA!  now you can impress everyone with your beautiful dumplings.  Dip them in chili sauce and soy and eat with chopsticks.

This week we have gone all Japanesy thanks to lovely Akane who has been creating our new Japanese Facebook page.  We don't know quite what she has written but it does look pretty.

Here is a large bag filled by one of our best friends, Lucy Jane Batchelor.  You really need to get a cup of tea and a biscuit and sit down to really enjoy Lucy's beautiful website.  Lucy decided to embroider squares to go inside the bag.  Bunny in a teacup is just lovely (scroll through the pics above for a close up).  Look out for the little bear poking out on the right side of the bag....

Yes it is now official - learn to become a fairy in two and a half hours.  Be taken under the wing of the fairy organiser, make a sprinkling of fairy dust and put on all those lovely gossamer clothes (not forgetting the wand).  End the day spinning to a tune with the dancing fairy, before settling down to some fairy meditation.  Then prove to your friends it was all true with a photo and a proper certificate.

I was so excited until reading the bottom line 'for ages 3-9 years' booo.

Our new delectable stickers arrived today and I just can't decide which I like more... Clare has already filled a make-up bag with a 'Princess Bride' sticker (at Clippy we're quite keen on a bit of flag waving).  I love the new 'Elvis' - especially as the leopard print dress is a very, very, very small version of the dress I wore to my last birthday do.  All this and a brand new cross cat with cute kitty (although I adore the budgie).  Look out for the glitzy make-up sticker too.

Snow is a-coming... our last posting date for Christmas within the UK is Monday 20th December but please think about how tricky Santa (UKMail) is finding it at the moment, especially in Scotland.  They are trying VERY hard but please get your orders in this week!

We can't get enough of miniature furniture, Breezy birds and angels wings and when they all come together under one roof, well we just died and went to heaven. I may be a beat behind the knitting thing, but I am determined to catch up. Because I LOVE Muir and Osborne knitted dogs. I saw the whole kennels-worth at Country Living Fair, and I want to make them ALL. I have already started knitting the Pug and I have nearly done a whole back leg. I can’t really knit properly yet, but I think if I stuff him extremely carefully we should be O.K. Either that or I shall just call him Peg-Leg. Winter nights here we come…

Last month we ran a competition with girls mag Mizz.... competition queens had to create their very own Mizz cover to fit into our Cover Girl range.  We had ever so many AMAZING entries but this one was my favourite.  Big thank you to Daisy for her entry, it must have taken ages - Daisy won all our Cover Girl products and we had her design professionally printed to fit her tote bag.

Had a whirl this weekend at the most wonderful wedding party at Shoreditch House… activities galore so there was no time for small talk. Playing ping pong whilst listening to wind-up gramophones from the Shellacsisters and then tottering over to lay a fingerprint (wine at a safe distance) on the wedding tree.

A party isn’t complete without a few happy snaps and The Fabulous Photo Emporium is a must for any party – a mini vintage set with ingenious (tasteful) props designed especially for your event by Tyson Benton. LOVE THEM!  The Puppini Sisters are the kind of vocal trio I would like to belong to.  I want to perform re-workings of 1940's wartime classics (think Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy) interspersed with a bit of Blondie and 'Heart of Glass'.  In fact if one of them gets a sore throat then I'm their girl.

Clippy's Top Tip:  Boris's bikes could be extremely handy

I’ve been so busy at Clippy HQ lately that I’ve barely had time to sort my outfit for my friend’s wedding this weekend (with the exception of trawling the internet late at night or between boring bouts of paperwork). So far I’ve found a pretty pink number online – but if that doesn’t look good, then I’m in real trouble!

What I did find online that was far too much fun (to the detriment of the aforementioned paperwork I need to do) is the website www.looklet.com. It’s like dress up dolls for grown-ups! You pick your model, your background and then you dress her up. You can pick from clothes from Chanel to H&M (depending on how realistic you want to be) and then load the look up with accessories and fun ‘extras’ like puppy dogs and balloons . It’s brilliant.

I made a fun outfit for the wedding I’m going to. Do you like it? Of course I had to dust off my Photoshop skills to paste in the obligatory Clippy bag! I hope the Bride & Groom don’t mind if I bring a puppy dog along. Also, I can’t decide if the Chanel bag contains a wedding present or something for me. Now back to the paperwork.

NOBROW! I came across the wonderful Nobrow magazine at the hipster emporium, Urban Outfitters the other day and LOVE it. The magazine works with talented illustrators from around the world to create the visual feast that is No Brow. As such, the magazine is all about pictures and less about the words. There have been 3 issues of Nobrow that have been published and each issue has a theme that the illustrators and graphic designers stick to – first issue was Gods & Monsters, second issue was The Jungle and the most recent issue is on the theme Topsy Turvy.

The magazines pages are printed on thick paper and I’ve been umming and ahhing about whether I should tear the gorgeous pages out to put on display in my Cover Girl tote, or if I should preserve the magazine in its art portfolio-like beauty. I think I should just buy two!  

I DO want to run off and join the circus, but only if it's Giffords!  The latest show is called 'Jasmine'.  We were packed like little sardines into the tiny tent and watched enthralled for 90 minutes of musical circus.  Brilliant band, delicious raggedy costumes (all of which I want, except maybe the pig's head - which might be a bit hot).  Supper afterwards is a MUST (or you can have cream tea if you visit for matinee).  Emma Bridgewater plates, candles and benches - bring your own wine.  Only touring Gloucestershire, but a lovely way to spend the weekend.

A new (ish) music magazine landed on our desks this week called NOTION. But think less NME and more i-D magazine thanks to the super-cool fashion pages that are dotted throughout this gorgeous glossy. Notion features not just interviews and news on the latest bands, but also reviews films, gives you the low-down on new club nights and also offers some hip styling advice. What’s not to love? The photography is sublime and it’s all printed on beautiful quality matte paper.

This has meant we have ripped the magazine to complete shreds to fill our Cover Girl bags and accessories with their gorgeous pages. We suggest you do the same.  

This bag is a real work of art - with a title.... 'The world is a scary place, but I have armbands' .  Designed by Lisa Swirling, who creates the most divine 'Glass Cathedrals'.

These Glass Cathedrals are wonderful, I love them (and have one).  What would Lisa put in the bag pockets?  Of course, a tiny child floating in a large watery space.  The most fabulous beach bag.

Armed with my 4 Japanese words (sushi, kawaii, konnichiwa and arigato) I have arrived in Japan - I can't believe i'm here!  Clippy bags have gone a very long way since my kitchen table.  The last couple of days I have been busy bowing, smiling and customising bags for a beautiful store, Vulcanize London.

I love cupcakes, mum loves cupcakes and Ted the dog LOVES cupcakes - but he can't have any.  Just round the corner and up the road a bit is Sam at Love Bakery who ices and bakes on site in the prettiest shop on Kings Road.  A confectionery of pink and pastel and that's just the walls.  The cakes come topped with roses, butterflies and also other sorts of lovelyness and they glisten and glitter with tasty toppings. The gallery of cupcakes makes me squeal with joy!

Sam has filled her Clippy bag with love hearts, choccy coins, cupcake cases, badges and hundreds and thousands.  She couldn't quite squeeze the cake in without a big squidgy disaster occuring.

Me, me, me……..actually there is not that much to tell, except that………

My name is Calypso Rose (yes, thats my real name, always asked), Clippy to my friends.  I went to Putney High School where I met all my best friends Sophie, Sally, Emily, Jenna, Annie to name a few...  My best subject was singing (lalala…), Geography and Business Studies. I also loved Netball (which I still play).

I dropped out of university - I was going to study geography at Kings College London (as I quite fancied being a weather girl), but when I got there I found I wasn’t that keen, so I left.

My family thought I should keep studying (as you have to work for a long time…) so I managed to get on a stage management course at lovely LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) where I worked extremely hard for two years learning stage management and technical theatre (that’s lighting and stuff). I had a fantastic time clutching a tool box and being bossy and learnt a lot so thank you everyone.

I found a job at a company called Banana Split, where I worked as a production assistant – sometimes, when I was good, I was allowed out and worked on celebrity exercise videos and Vox Pops. I was going to be a floor manager (loved my radio headset).

Then I made the first bag on the kitchen table. Oooops. Everything else out the window. Glad I did business studies. Since then Clippykit has had good days (London Young Business Person of the Year being one and more recently Entrepreneur the Industry) and a few bad days (fitting a stand at NEC Birmingham when all  electrics are broken and the panels are the wrong size springs to mind as bad day).

Personally I love dancing, cooking, outings, sunshine, my bunnies, Rolphy, all my friends and family and Ted the dog – not necessarily in that order.

So I'm out of hibernation, but not yet quite ready for the flip-flops. To celebrate (and this might sound just a little strange) I rolled back the carpet in the front room, turned up the laptop and went one to one with Peta from the fabulous Swing Patrol, who is teaching me and the gorgeous one to Lindy Hop. We whirled for a whole hour, in fact I am now officially a TWIRLY GIRL.  They have classes all over the place and their workshops are not to be missed.

One front room is never enough.  Every Thursday night Arno Maasdorp chucks out his chinz, sofa and rugs to  create a candlelit, twinkling, eclectic dining-room which seats up to 16 (12 on my night) for a pop-up dining room, which he calls the Saltoun Supper Club. We ate four delicious  courses (set menu), including a pudding of heart-stopping chocolateness. Arno cooks in the tiny kitchen , serves, and chats (all at the same time) making the whole evening a total delight. Keeping with my front room theme, had the funniest night at Cousin Jills (not a relative, just a venue name) singing  my lungs out in the 'library' ( fake books,  patterned carpet and a butler) . Cousin Jills is a Karaoke club underneath a Korean restaurant in Mayfair, so you're off to a good start before you've even opened the door. The atmosphere is mad country house party. Book in advance, and just take the girls .  We LOVED it.

Ted, our Clippy dog, rather likes clothes. He has longish legs and is a fabulous grey colour (Minature Snauchzer) and he looks ever so smart in a variety of styles. He is very particular. He DOESN'T like his parka (too tight under the arms), he loves his woolly polo neck and as he is sooo cutting edge he doesn't leave the house without his bandana. Lovemydog have brought out two new bandana designs to tempt Ted's fancy.

Now in the good old days you used to grow your cress (that's the green stuff you can put in a sandwich) on a mouldy flannel, than I recall happy days painting faces on egg shells and scattering seeds into the top so that the smiley faces cress grew hair. How passe is all of THAT. Chic kitchens grow cress in Postcarden's city or botanical garden complete with seeds... water and watch your card GROW into lovely FOOD.

It's clear, it's pretty and it's filled with decorating ideas to copy, cooking to cook, cookies already cooked and cards that you can buy on-line. I have been loving the Herlittleplace website and blog. Written by Huma Qureshi, who's day job is writing for the Guardian newspaper. Love the rose petal cake and the chalkboard fridge tidy.

BRRRRRRRR.... It's COLD. The office boiler broke so I am blogging in my mittens (Christmas pressie, yummy cashmere from Loft - tres chic).

Well didn't you always know it? This seasons must have (Prada, Fendi, Anastase ) is the see-through handbag. So if you haven't already got one, and can't afford the squillions for a Prada, get a Clippy bag.

I am doing the not drinking for January bit. This means I have to keep active to avoid slumping in front of the telly with a huge tumbler of wine. Sooo have seen beautiful arty film (The White Ribbon) at the Riverside Theatre, comedy acts at the 100 Club and learnt the Charleston with Swing Patrol, and of course, watched Avatar with the funny glasses. Longing for inactive February.
