Examination Session for Pre-Primary in Dance, Primary in Dance, Grades 1 to 6 candidates take place in the studio on Tuesday Mar 6th and Wednesday Mar 7th.

Tuesday Mar 6^th 8:20 - 4:00 Grades Pre-Prim, Prim, Gr 1 to 4

Wednesday Mar 7th 8:20 - 12:30 Grade 3 final set, Grade 5 and Grade 6

Examination Attire Requirements:  To be supplied by Parent. Please arrive in the required exam outfits remember please, no nail polish, tattoos, theatrical make-up or jewellery.  The Studio will provide Character skirts and character shoes for Grades 1 and up.

Miss Judith Vardy will be our examiner for this year’s Examination session. We are confident that the candidates are working very hard on the comments made on their criteria mock exam sheets provided on Mock exams.  Each student will be able to excel to their best presentation of the work with diligent home practice following the suggestions on their sheets.

All candidates have received their Examination Day info.  Please ensure that the candidates arrive at the studio at the arrival time posted on the info sheet.

Unfortunately the following classes on Tuesday will be effected by the Examination session. These classes Adults, Baby Ballerinas & Dansuers 1 & 2, Pre-Primary will be rescheduled in replacement for these Examination session conflicts.

Class Awards and Exams mock performances…Reaching for Excellence

Sun Feb 5 and Please take Note:  Update and change of date for Second Mock exam Day- New Date Sun Feb 26.

Mrs. Driedger is unable to play for our exam schedule so a new pianist Mr. Jonathan Reichert will be our pianist.  Due to the change, Mr. Reichert is not available on Mar. 4 therefore the second mock is now on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 26.  Please revise your schedules.  Times of mocks remains the same.

Second and Final Exam fee payment due Jan. 20th, in the same amount for Primary to Grade 6 as first deposit.  Pre-Primary students will have a special rate.

Parents must observe on Sunday Feb 5 and please video your child’s work, no observation on Feb 26.

Mock Examination Practices for candidates will be held at the studio on Sunday Feb 5 & Feb 26.
Primary 9:00-9:45, Pre-Primary 9:45-10:30, Grade 6 10:30-12:00, Grade 5 12:00-1:15, Grade 3 1:30-3:00, Grade 1 3:00-4:00, Grade 2 4:00-5:00, Grade 4 5:00-6:00.   The pianist is Mr Jonathan Reichert.  All candidates must arrive early in preparation for the scheduled times and full Exam dress requirements and hairstyles are expected.

Mock sheets with the assessment of the Mock performances will be given to the students to use at home and in the studio.  Please bring these assessment sheets to the studio for each class after the Mocks.

To reach for excellence home practice is needed as it strengthens the achievements and improvements for all students.  The goal for dancers is to share the beauty and emotions of their work and interpretation of the music through performance with audiences, making the hours of hard work to achieve the effortless quality while performing rewarding to both the dancer and audience.  We are proud of these extra efforts that the students give to their work and applaud their efforts.  We look forward to seeing their work in our Mock exam performance practices.  Remember to clean ballet shoes with leather cleaner, ensure the leotard is in very good condition with its belt and purchase new tights and socks now in preparation for the Mock exams.

A Syllabus home practice booklet is provided at no cost to each of our Academy’s students in Grade classes as our gift to insure the best standard and success is met by each student. All students are required to do home practice and the booklets have all the information needed to complete this task.  For the parent’s benefit the notes include the quality of expression and movement needed along with technical hints to insure safe practice and execution of the work.  No reprints will be available due to the time and cost requirements of each booklet.  We encourage the parents to video the student at all Parent Observation days as a guide to the progression of details, and musical interpretation of the work.

Please be reminded that young siblings should not be brought to watch as it is unfair to ask that they sit during the class without distractions such as talking and moving about. Also, classes may end 10 minutes early to help with parking.

These observation days are an opportunity for the students to show their progress to date (which should be videoed), where their needs are pointed out, and general information is explained.

We cordially invite other relatives and friends to our Production based on “Fantasies” on Sat. June 4 at Surrey Arts Theater to watch the students perform.

The studio will be closed for regular classes during Spring Break Monday March 19 to Saturday March 25.

Policy on Snow:  As we have students that walk to classes, we will stay open, unless blizzard conditions prevail.  We ask the parents to consider their trip to the studio, do not attempt to come to class if you can not arrive safely.
