Troll 3D modeling

2013-05-09T03:14:00.000-07:00

a little bit of box modeling practise

Nightcrawler

2013-05-07T04:07:00.001-07:00

But is it Steve proof?......no

2013-05-01T14:33:00.001-07:00

to improve upon my 2D concept I decided to create a 3d model in scultptris this proved difficult as i only had the 1 character viewpoint rather than a side front and back profile like i usually would if i wanted to make this kind of model.

Sea Creature Mood board

2013-04-28T14:53:00.001-07:00

for this weeks assignment we are tasked to create a aquatic creature i decided to create a more threatening merman/mermaid idea almost straight away and my mood board reflects my initial ideas through lots of images of different fantasy mermaids.

Box Modelling

2013-04-19T03:33:00.001-07:00

Character box modelling is probably one of my last favourite activities especially if we are not doing our own design but rather trying to replicate someone else's work my attempts at the Minotaur monsters are below although i may need to improve upon them further in future.

not too happy with the topology in either model i feel i will need to try and improve my box modelling considerably

wip with improved topology

Ninja

2013-04-08T16:19:00.002-07:00

just a bit of work off of my own back the reason he looks a little 'feminine' is because he was female right until the end of the design where i changed the hairstyle and thought a male character looked better for the role of a blind warrior or zatoichi.

Rat Creature

2013-02-14T02:54:00.001-08:00

For my team game i have produced a rat character using basic box modelling techniques to improve upon this model i need to make the coat look less boxy and model it in a way that the arm and coat will not collide and cause it to look like the arm travels through the coat.

Me.....sort of

2013-02-05T07:57:00.001-08:00

this was my first ever experience with box modelling...not a pretty sight my future work i put a lot more time and effort into and i achieved better results

after a bit of a play around came up with this design i still need to improve the uvw with pictures rather than basic colors but it works well at the moment to show any problems with my uvw mesh for example the eyes catching slightly with the area around the face.

this final one was a attemt a bringing in a mubox model into max and using that to form my human but it proved to be more complex that i initially thought this is what i have so far

Rat Man (for our video game) ideas and WIP

2013-02-05T07:13:00.001-08:00

some of the rough conceptual work for my character in our upcoming video game its not meant to be too refined just something that i can base my 3d model off of.

Mud box muck about

2013-01-30T06:27:00.002-08:00

other than chaging the muscle structure the model is not mine the colouring is and colouring is fun

2013-01-29T05:35:00.001-08:00

this is my final design pretty proud of it but wish i had more time

after a bit more tweaking and editing i put a simple background into the piece to give it some environment this think would be found in

in this part of the image i added textures and experimented with the heal tool like the original video told me to
part 1 of the paint over

after a bit of a re-edit and a lighting improvement this is the model i plan to paint over

this is my wip in working on 3d textureing rather than a paint over

also as a note this is the video this is exercise is based off of http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZL7nV7WwJKg

turret stuff i guess

2013-01-28T02:27:00.000-08:00

these are the worki n progrecc screens of my new cannon design overall im happy with it and am ready to take it to photoshop

the above images are my reference materail none of it is mine

these last 2 images i did myself for another project thought they work for research purposes

Alien Plant

2013-01-21T12:34:00.001-08:00

I tried Mudbox but i still need to refine my skill with it im much happier using sculptris

here is my cartoon alien plant that i eventually settled upon

Mood Board

2013-01-20T14:28:00.001-08:00

a mood board for our alien plant brief i tried to be as broad as possible with my mood board as i had not really settled upon an idea yet

Goblin (wrinkles)

2013-01-16T05:23:00.001-08:00

playing around on scultpuris gave me this cool goblin character who is one of my favourite bits of work this year

Monsters

2013-01-14T03:36:00.001-08:00

trying to create a few 3d models on scultpuris this is the results of my varied experiments.

Wrinkles mood board

2013-01-12T13:18:00.001-08:00

this wrinkles mood board eventually lead me to the monster creations that can be seen in my next posts

3D design

2013-01-07T03:58:00.001-08:00

i updated my drawing piece by making a quick 30 minute 3d model to help me see how it may look for when i drew it i'm posting this now as i forgot too earlier

Space home 9000

2012-12-20T09:18:00.000-08:00

this piece was not overly successful so i plan to try again making the 'space house' in a 3D package with fully rendered textures and etc

Space Ship 1

2012-12-12T07:46:00.001-08:00

i plan to add sthis design to my final space ship i felt it important to included here to show how i drew over my original 3d model inspiration piece.
