Today's weather;

Koh Samui is back, back on the map for blue and sunny skies, just like this morning with hardly any wind to speak of! Current temp at 7am is 27.7C

Quick reminder for this coming Saturday, don't forget the Cancer Care for Charity run in Nathon, come down and join us. Registration starts at 6am and the walk or run starts at 7am.

A sunny sky this morning

Yesterday saw mostly sunny weather mixed with overcast, sometimes even threatening and grey overcast but it remained dry all day long around Koh Samui. Max temp reached 31.8C

The forecast shows plenty of more mild wind for the next 7 days days but not much rain, Let's keep our fingers crossed. Even if there's rain, it's usually a typically quick monsoon afternoon shower.

Today's weather;

Overcast with some blue spots in it and a nice breeze, it looks better compared to yesterday around Koh Samui. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Some un-typical fruits for Thailand at the famous Kim Yong market in Hat Yai, where we were over the recent weekend

Yesterday saw a nice morning with overcast around Koh Samui but soon the clouds became more grey and around 4.30pm there was a thundershower with some on and off drizzle afterwards. Max temp reached 32C

It seems that Samui has hit a monsoon pattern, dry and sometimes sunny morning, clouds during the early afternoon and rain during the later part of the afternoon.

The forecast keeps predicting wind for the next 7 days but not much rain.

Today's weather;

Plenty of overcast this morning and grey clouds drift by followed by some feeble blue clearings in the sky. It looks like more rain today around Koh Samui at this early stage of the day. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Yesterday on the drive home from Hat Yai it was all dry and sunny up until we reached Nakhon Si Thammarat, where it started to become cloudy and between Nakhon and home it progressively turned worse. First some drizzle and at moments full on hard rain with stormy winds. Once upon being back on Koh Samui it rained/drizzled all the way from the ferry pier to home. Max temp reached 31.1C

The forecast sees a decrease in wind over this coming week and fairly dry, I would even expect sunny days again very soon.

Today's weather;

The whole family is in Hat Yai this morning, where I just completed a 13km run in a satisfying time for me. 1 hour and 7 minutes in case you wondered! As the picture below shows, Hat Yai has a lovely blue sky and the current temp at 7am is 24.5C

Hat Yai is the third largest metropolitan area of Thailand.

Yesterday saw overcast during the whole day around Samui and later in the evening there was a serious storm, which we missed because we're in Hat Yai. Max temp reached 32.5C

In Hat Yai it was sunshine all around yesterday and the city was bustling with the usual weekend visitors, mainly from Malaysia and a lot of folk were around that were participating in today's marathon. Max temp reached 33.8C

The forecast for Koh Samui for the next 7 days is a potential for stormy weather tonight again and the wind receding progressively over the course of next week.

Registration for the Hat Yai marathon's 13km run

We arrived safe and well in Hat Yai just a few hours ago and the registration and picking up the start number for tomorrow's 13km run as part of the 6th International Hat Yai marathon has been completed.

The drive down here was swift and once we were south of Nakhon Si Thammarat it cleared up and we had no rain or drizzle anymore. Hat Yai is sunny right now.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is covered with light clouds with various blue spots in it. Current temp at 6am is around 27C

We're on our way to Hat Yai today, where I will participate in a 13km run tomorrow morning, so expect a delayed weather tomorrow.

Heavy rain and flash flood yesterday

Yesterday saw a mostly clouded day until around 3.30pm when a big rain storm hit our part of Koh Samui and for 15 minutes everything got drenched and flash flooded. Soon afterwards it was dry again with even a feeble sun peering through the cloud layers but in the evening there was a longer lasting drizzle again. Max temp reached around 33C

The forecast predicts heavy wind and rain over the weekend but going back to 'normal' after weekend.

Today's weather;

Koh Samui enjoys a cloudy sky with a few blue spots that let's the sun shine through and there's a nice, cool breeze, which should make the Samui regatta skippers happy. Current temp at 7am is 27.3C

Yesterday saw a 'mixed bag' day, cloud cover shared with blue spots in the sky and there was a bit of a breeze. Here and there around the island were various amounts of rain. Max temp reached 33.8C

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is clouded this morning with just a very few, are blue spots in it. Current temp at 7am is 27.8C

The 2nd yak at Big Buddha, located at the right side, "YAK" (ยักษ์) stand in front of temples. They intend to frighten the spirits and protect the Buddha statues from the spirits.

Yesterday saw a great day around Koh Samui with blue skies decorated with fluffy clouds all day long until the afternoon when the clouds took over. Max temp reached 34.1C

The forecast for Samui predicts plenty of wind which should be good for the boats participating in the Samui regatta over the weekend. In the meantime, I will be in Hat Yai over the weekend, participating in a 13km run as part of this year's Hat Yai marathon, this coming Sunday.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui is once more blue although there are a few clouds out and about. Current temp at 7am is 27.5C

Yesterday saw a blazing hot day around Koh Samui, however around 5pm there was a short moment of cloud cover with a mini shower, which cooled things down a bit. Max temp reached 34.9C

For the enxt 7 days there's a continual breeze expected but not much rain.

Samui Regatta 2012: May 26th - June 2nd

Time flies when you're having fun and it's time to give the stage to the 12th Samui Regatta over the coming weekend and week.

One of Asia's biggest regatta's and the final of the Asian Yachting Grand Prix, this event has grown to attract the best yachts in Asia and a large spectator following who come for great sailing, great parties and many other events that occur during one incredible week each year.

Today's weather;

For the third consecutive fay, Koh Samui has a lovely blue sky to show off with in the morning. Current temp at 7am is 26.7C

Time to collect the coconuts in our garden again, 3 Baht per coconut at the moment

Yesterday saw a lovely sunny day around Koh Samui until 3pm-ish and grey clouds casted their shadow over the island. During the late afternoon and early evening it cleared up again. Max reached 34.3C

The forecast is wind until the weekend, not much rain, so enjoy cool breezes and sunny days!

Thanks to Dawn Farrell who lives since 1987 on Phuket and runs a great blog there as well, was kind enough to provide me with a couple of Koh Samui pictures dating back to 1989! Lots of thanks for allowing me to use these pictures here Dawn! Please keep in mind that all copyrights to these pictures belongs to Dawn!

It's not many times that you get such a great opportunity to travel back a little bit in time.

This could be in Hua Thanon, Dawn isn't sure and stated that it was somewhere in land, away from beaches

Today's weather;

For the second day running Koh Samui wakes up under a perfect blue sky. Current temp at 7am is 27.2C

A massive jackfruit or kanun from our garden, this is about 5 or 6kg of jackfruit

Yesterday saw pretty much all day long a blue sky around Koh Samui and it was warm! Around 10pm we had a few showers though. Max temp reached 34.3C

The forecast shows a small increase in wind each day with some hard wind over the weekend. On the upside, not much rain is predicted.

A bit late today but I just ran 18km this morning in preparation of the Laguna Phuket International marathon to be held 10th June.

Yesterday saw a mixed bag around Koh Samui, mostly cloudy skies but with spots of blue sky in it with a short shower during the afternoon. Max temp reached 32C

The forecast predicts a nice day today and from tomorrow onward each day an increase in wind and some rain starting from Friday all over the weekend.

The sky over Koh Samui is blue-ish with a thin cloud layer. If the sun heats up it may become very blue today. Current temp at 7am is 27.4C

Bang Rak bay, yesterday

Yesterday started out very nicely with clouds and blue spots in it, slowly the blue spots took over until around 3pm when we had a strong shower, followed shortly by a second one. It was still hot though all day long until the shows cooled things down a bit. Max temp reached 34.2C

The forecast for Koh Samui see hardly any wind over the weekend and a daily increasing wind strength after the weekend with real strong winds next weekend.

Yesterday saw a nice start of the day all around Koh Samui but the sky was covered with clouds by noon and around 4pm a massive wind storm that lasted about half an hour hit almost out of the blue. There was a bit of rain as well but nothing to worry about. It was warm all day long though! Max temp reached 34.8C

The forecast predicts still windy days with an increase of wind speed towards next weekend but hardly any rain is predicted.

Today's weather;

The wind and the clouds have gone this morning and Koh Samui is enjoying a blue sky. Current temp at 7am is 27C

Saan Lak Muang in Surat Thani city, the main spirit house for the province of Surat Thani

Yesterday we went to Surat Thani again, for a check up of my Mother in law at the Thaksin hospital. On the way back home we stopped at the Nai Aow restaurant in Kanchanadit and had a fab meal!

All day long it was cloudy with a strong-ish wind on both Surat Thani and Koh Samui. Max temp reached 31.8C and for the first time in a while, the shower water felt cold again!

The forecast predicts mild wind and most likely sunny skies for the next 7 days.

Samui's sky is cloudy this morning but I expect it to stay dry. Current temp at 6am is in the high twenties Celsius.

Choengmon Beach a few days ago

Yesterday saw a lovely first few hours of the day but soon the blue sky was replaced by cloudy skies for the rest of the day. There was a fairly strong wind which kept the temperature nice. Max temp reached around 33C

The forecast for cho shows now wind for the next 7 days but I expect it to stay dry except for an occasional shower.

Cancer Care Charity fun run, Nathon, 2nd July 2012

Just like last year, the Four Seasons Hotel chain organizes Cancer Care charity fun runs around the world and 2nd July it's the 5th time that such a run will be organized on Koh Samui. For me it will be the 2nd I will attend and I'm planning on running the 10km run.

This is all inspired by Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope in 1980 in Canada!

The posters for the Cancer Care Charity fun run are popping up all over the island

Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, in association with the Thai Red Cross Society, would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming 5th Cancer Care Charity Fun Run. Proceeds from the event will go towards research projects currently conducted by the Haematological Cancer Research Centre at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

I hope a lot of folk will show up, it was lots of fun last year. Registration is at 6am at Nathon pier and the run starts at 7am. See you there!

Today's weather;

Koh Samui has some nice blue skies this morning with a current temp at 7am of 27.7C

In Pattaya it's very similar, a blue sky with a few clouds in it and a current temp at 10am of 31.6C

Later today I'm off to home sweet home again, where the school for the children started again after 6 week holiday.

The forecast is looking good, first a couple of fairly windy days and around the weekend the wind will slow down again. Get ready for some warm and sunny days.

Today's weather;

Koh Samui has once more a blue sky to show for and it looks like it will heat up again. Current temp at 7am is 27.5C

The sky over Pattaya is slightly clouded but it's also warm here. Temp at 7am is 29.1C

Yesterday saw a sunny an warm day around Koh Samui with a shower and thunderstorm in the early evening around 7.30pm. Max temp reached 34.5C

In Pattaya it was warm yesterday, although partially clouded all day long. Max temp reached 33.6C and it remained dry all day long.

In Samui the wind is supposed to pick up over the next couple of days which hopefully gives the island a nice cooling breeze and it looks like sunny clouds with an occasional shower.

Koh Samui has another beautiful day ahead of itself with clear blue skies and a light breeze. Current temp at 7am is 28C

Pattaya, where I am right now, has a cloudy sky with a current temp at 7am of 29.3C

It's a gorgeous morning today over Koh Samui. A lovely blue sky is ours and it looks like it's going to be a hot one today! Current temp at 7am is 26.6C

In a few hours I'm off to Pattaya, stay tuned though, the daily updates will continue and I'm hoping to do some sightseeing at new locations there, which I will report about.

The forecast remains the same, a bit more wind which hopefully cools things down a bit and possibly cloud over.

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui looks splendid this early in the morning, almost clear blue! Current temp at 7am is 26.8C

Tomorrow I'm off for a few days to Pattaya to meet with some friends over the weekend. I'm looking forward to some daytime sightseeing and discover a few new locations.

Yesterday saw a nice morning around the island but we were on our way to the mainland, to Surat Thani. Here the weather was nice but cloudy, however on the way back home, during the afternoon there were some heavy rain showers! We made a little detour to Kanchanadit to biy some sweets and by 6pm were back on Samui island!

Samui also had a bit of rain during the afternoon and max temp reached 33.9C

The forecast fpr the next 7 days is going up and down, now it's back to wind and cloudy days!
