I have a number of issues that bug me but numbers and bugs top the list, especially now during the great Northern Illinois Cicada Invasion. It happens every seventeen years; millions and millions of red-eyed cocktail weenies with wings come crawling out of their underground bunkers for a month-long freakfest before dying. It�s a plague upon the land unless you happen to be a bird or a chipmunk or a dog. They find cicadas tasty. I find them disgusting. But they will soon be gone, not to return until�well, you do the math. I can�t. Seriously.

I wish I could just forget about my final exams and join my family in sticking it to the man, but unfortunately I am just weeks away from graduating and exteremly busy, and if I did ANYTHING to jeopordize my walk down the aisle to get my diploma my Mom would kick my ass (Wow this is the exact opposite of sticking it to the man). So I am going to call on some old friends to do what I can’t, here are my favorite hair metal videos that deal with sticking to the man. First we have the world famous Kick Axe!

After a good deal of brainstorming I realized that yes and no - I am both too old and not old enough to get away with a lot of things. Namely, to own my own camera and get my podcasts done in a timely manner. But more importantly, I’ve learned a valuable lesson from my father - that one is concurrently never too old and always too old to do most things. But never let that deter you from trying.

On an unrelated note, better luck next time, Bears.

Underrated Injury: Toxic &*@!ing Frustration

Well, I had a podcast all blocked and ready to shoot. Then I opened up the camera I borrowed to find a nearly spent battery and no charger. So I quickly set up the camera, shot something that was not part of my initial plan, then sat down to digitize the footage with a quickness. Well, in order to do that you need a camera. With a working battery. I had just enough power to get it digitized in its entirety when it started “dropping frames.” Don’t worry about what it means, just know that it prevents one from digitizing all the while sucking the life out of batteries and filling my living room with unladylike language. So the battery crapped out and I never got the damn thing digitized. Oh well, it was just a precursor to next weeks so you’re not missing much anyway. Next week’s will be better - I’m leaving town tomorrow morning to document it. I’m sorry I suck and can’t get it together enough to get my own camera. Wah-wah. Most underrated injury? Self-pity. No wait, that’s most underrated obnoxious indulgence. Anyway, enough whining and here’s something that makes me laugh.

I’ve been fortunate enough that, for most of my life, I’ve never had to go to the hospital for ANYTHING. I guess when you don’t play any actual sports save for mini-golf and the occasional bowl and spend your Saturday evenings playing Trivial Pursuit, it’s kind of hard to really do any damage. But in the summer of 2005, I got a phone call that would change my life forever (although I didn’t realize it at the time). Damn you Butterfly Effect, why can’t you be true?!?!?!?

The Leonard clan along with our friend Randy recently had a meeting of the minds (??) about ways in which we can improve the site. We came up with a pretty long list of improvements, some major and some minor, and over the next few months you’ll be seeing some of those changes gradually take place. The first improvement that Randy has already implemented is making our Archives section searchable by author. So if you’re a “Brendan” fan, you won’t have to wade through all the “Matt & Margarita” crap just to find his videos. Like I said, we’ve got many, many more improvements in the works, so please stay tuned and we’ll let you know as they each happen. There aren’t too many more disappointing times of the year to get the flu. There also aren’t too many more disappointing christmas songs than the 12 Days of Christmas. Now you can experience them together! At last! I was out for about 10 days with a doozy of a flu and here is a sampling of my week with it. I only went up to 6 for obvious reasons. Yeah, that’s me singing. Yeah, that’s also a midi file. Profuse apologies for both. Anyway, I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season and try to forget the torture that is me trying to carry a tune at 8:30 in the morning. Yikes.
