But a well prepared camping trip with your kids can be a great joy for everyone involved. Here are a few considerations and preparations you should make before leaving home.

First of all, choose an easily accessible location. You may want to choose a camping spot that is accessible by vehicle if your kids are relatively young. If you want to hike in to the camping spot, keep the distance pretty short. Also, remember that younger kids may not be able to carry all of their gear and food in, so you'll end up with one very heavy pack if you're not careful.

Here are a few tips for minimizing the amount of stuff you have to take in, if you're hiking to your camping spot.

First, choose a spot with easy access to water. That way you can take in dehydrated foods, and use the water at the camping spot to cook your food with. That will save you a lot of weight.

Also, try taking one or two larger tents to hold everyone, rather than several smaller tents.

A camp fire is another consideration. Campfires and s'mores are a must when you take your kids camping. Be sure you choose a location that allows campfires, and that has a readily available water supply to put the fire out.

When you take your kids camping, be sure that they have the same essentials that you take camping: extra clothing, a coat or rain jacket, food, water, a tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, etc.

One last thing: before you go camping be sure you give your kids a few basic safety instructions, such as safety with fire, snakes, bears (if applicable), etc. Safety first!

Family Camping Tips – Where to Camp

Planning a successful camping holiday with kids involves finding the right campsite, remembering family routines and planning fun activities for the kids.

Camping is a fun, budget-friendly way to holiday as a family. Seasoned campers as well as families going camping for the first time need to plan a camping trip in advance to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable, relaxed holiday. Here’s a few tips on how to plan a family camping holiday.
Choose a Campsite With Something for Everyone

Finding the perfect campsite can be a tricky sometimes, but knowing what amenities are necessary will help narrow down the decision making process. Take the ages of the children into consideration. Very young children will need short trails or a beach nearby, older children and teens may be up to more challenging trails and might want to socialize with other children in the campsite.

Also consider previous camping experience. Families without a lot of previous camping experience will appreciate flush toilets and shower facilities, more seasoned campers might appreciate a remote location or walk/hike in campsites that don’t allow vehicles.

Camping With Kids Tips for a Fun Family Camping Trip

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 308px; height: 308px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_AJnRBYfjyYo/TRkBZAc_TYI/AAAAAAAACYE/eeNZgCOBF_4/s320/national-park-family.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555473144468163970" />
By Kit Bennett

Family camping adventures are the meat and potatoes of childhood memories; experiencing the wild life, getting dirty, campfire meals and of course enjoying the classic camping delicacy, S'mores.
However, whether you are an expert or amateur "outdoorsmom", preparing for a getaway in the woods can be daunting when it involves having your kids in tow. Should you stay in a tent, camper, cabin, yurt, state park, or rough it with no plumbing? What food should we bring? Will it be warm enough, or too hot? What should go in the First-Aide kit? The list of considerations goes on and on and just when you think you've thought of everything...
reality happens.
My kids love to remind me of the time I left behind the beautifully packed wooden kitchen box, which contained all of the utensils, except the cast iron pan and aluminum foil. That made for an interesting weekend with tree-bark spoons and fried oatmeal cakes. Below is a list of tips I've acquired over the years. Most of which I learned the hard way.

PREPARING FOR YOUR FAMILY CAMPING TRIP
Build your kids enthusiasm, by getting them involved in the planning from the very beginning; where to go, what to eat, what to pack etc.

Consider the activities your children enjoy; bicycling, hiking, canoeing, swimming, enjoying wildlife. Then select your location accordingly.
State and National park websites list the attributes and activates available at each park.

If it's your first time camping, consider a state park with running water,
bathroom facilities and showers. This will keep the first trip positive and
will encourage a more adventuresome trip in the future.

Select activities that your family will enjoy together and bring or rent the proper supplies, such as kayaks and life vests, bicycles etc.

Practice setting up your tent. Involve the kids and let them play in the tent for a day.

First timers may want to have a backyard campout, before heading out into the woods.

Make a checklist. Even super mom forgets now and again.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 212px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AJnRBYfjyYo/TRkCExfDp0I/AAAAAAAACYM/vGIMsBxFAyQ/s320/6a00d83451b96069e20115709458a2970c-400wi.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555473896364549954" />

Bring a flashlight for every family member and a battery operated lantern for each tent, if possible. NO propane lanterns in the tents!
Use permanent markers and stickers to personalize the flashlights together. Don't forget to bring plenty of batteries!
*Glow sticks are fun also!

Keep the menu easy. Otherwise you'll spend most of your time
cooking and doing dishes.
Suggestions...
Hot Dogs and Beans
Bagels and peanut butter
Peanut butter and jelly
Bananas, apples and oranges
Canned soup and stews
Corn on the cob is delicious wrapped in aluminum foil and placed directly in the campfire coals.
Don't forget the S'mores...marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars.
When camping with an infant, bring baby food in jars...this is much easier!

Remember plenty of snacks. For some reason everyone gets hungry in the great outdoors. Trail mix, cereal bars, string cheese, crackers and dried fruit are the perfect snack foods.

Make sure everyone gets a sleeping pad or at least rolled up blankets to lay down before the sleeping bag is in place. A good night sleep will keep everyone happy.

Purchase a First-Aide Kit and keep it with your camping supplies. This will save time when the next trip comes around.

Purchase second hand pots, pans plates etc. Pack all of your supplies in plastic tubs. When you return you just have to clean-up and keep everything prepared for the next rip. Replenish items like paper towels, garbage bags etc. right away so you don't forget.
Although I encourage environmentally friendly camping, the first time you embark on your adventure, you may want use paper plates etc. Just until you get the hang of it. Eventually, you and the kids will be washing the dishes with sand by the river, just like the pros!

Remember the bug repellant and sunscreen...forgetting that can ruin a trip!

Show the kids what poison oak, ivy or sumac look like!

When camping with kids at the coast, or any sandy location,I prefer sites with showers. This keep sleeping bags and tents, sand free.

Pack a clothesline for hanging towels and wet items.
Speaking of wet items...lay plastic tarps down under your tents and take a few to spare in case it rains. Even "water resistant" tents may leak.

Keep the first few camp trips short 2-4 nights.

Try to keep the travel time to a minimum and stop frequently.

Teach your children about safety and how to respect nature.

Learn and teach outdoor skills and outdoor ethics.If you aren't sure, ask a ranger.

Enlist the kids help with the camp chores. They love collecting firewood, filling water containers, hammering in tent stakes, camp cooking etc.

Make the camp chores extra fun -- have contests for gathering the most kindling, best camp cooking, most organized gear, fastest clean-up etc.

HAVE FUN - CREATE MEMORIES

Bring some glue, paper and scissors, for making nature collages.
Write the date and location of the trip on the collage.

Sing good old-fashioned campfire songs. Keep the portable DVD players
at home and practice your singing in the car. If you need to, buy a book
and CD to help-out. The Kids Campfire Book: Official Book of Campfire Fun

Search the sky for constellations.

Listen and identify night sounds.

At night in the tent, play flashlight tag. One person is "it". Everyone plays
or sits down. "It" moves their flashlight quickly around the tent, while the
other players use their flashlights to catch him.

Have a shadow puppet show in the tent.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_AJnRBYfjyYo/TRkChWrJ6hI/AAAAAAAACYU/KVXaHR8gOX8/s320/camping-smores.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5555474387383740946" />
Don't forget the special nighttime snacks

Bring a small box for collecting treasures like pinecones special stones etc.
Be sure to follow park rules when collecting items to take home.

Bring a book to help identify animal prints and birds.
Pack a deck of cards and/or small games like UNO, Mad Libs, checkers...
Provide children with their own disposable cameras.

Columbia Bugaboo II Geo Dome Tent with Foot Lockers

Columbia Bugaboo II Geo Dome Tent with Foot Lockers

Product Features

* Spacious dome tent with sleeping space for up to 5 people
* Cyclone venting system increases air circulation within the tent
* GoBe Dry rain protection system keeps rain from seeping inside
* 2 external storage lockers, gear loft, and cupholders
* Measures 12 x 6.16 x 9 feet (W x H x D) and weighs 21 pounds

View Products Details

Bring the family to the campsite and still have room to spare with the Columbia Bugaboo II dome tent. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, chairman of the board, and her son, Tim Boyle, president and CEO, lead the company.

Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. The company introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then-60-year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign.

The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

Amazon.com Tent Guide

Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Expect the Worst
In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.

Three- and Four-Season Tents
For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three-season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.

For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four-season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.

Domes and Tunnels
Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.

Size Matters
Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.

Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Product Description

Designed for weekend family camping, it has many features typically found in hightech backcounTR tents. The cohesive GoBe Dry rainprotection system includes an elevated floor, sealed seams and more. The 800mm fly and 1,000mm floor are made from polyester taffeta with fully taped seams. Strong winds are no match for the sturdy 9.5mm fiberglass poles. Keep your belongings neat and accessible with the four pocket organizers, hanging cup holders, storage lockers and hanging gear loft.

* Spacious dome tent with sleeping space for up to 5 people
* Cyclone venting system increases air circulation within the tent
* GoBe Dry rain protection system keeps rain from seeping inside
* 2 external storage lockers, gear loft, and cupholders
* Measures 12 x 6.16 x 9 feet (W x H x D) and weighs 21 pounds

Camping equipment

The equipment used in camping varies with the particular type of camping. For instance, in survival camping the equipment consists in small items which have the purpose of helping out the camper in providing food, heat and safety. The equipment used in this type of camping must be lightweight and it is restricted at only the mandatory items. Another types of camping such as winter camping involve having specially designed equipment in terms of tents or clothing which is strong enough to protect the camper's body from the wind and cold.

Survival camping involves certain items that campers are recommended to have with them in case something goes wrong and they need to be rescued. A survival kit includes mandatory items but which are small and must fit in one's pocket or could be carried on one's person. This kit is useless in these circumstances if it is kept in the backpack. Such a kit should include a small metal container which can be used to heat water over a campfire, a small length of duct tape which is small and which can prove useful in many situations and an emergency space blanket.

These blankets are specially designed to occupy least space and are perfect for making emergency shelters, keeping the camper warm. Also because of the aluminum-like color this blanket is also reflective which means it can be easily seen from an aircraft. Candle stubs are good in starting a fire as well as in warming an enclosed space. One or two band-aids are mandatory in this type of camping. Any camper, and not only the survival ones need waterproof matches and a large safety pin or fish hook which can be used in fishing. Baking soda is good in rehydrating a dehydrated camper and at the same time, if it is mixed into a paste it helps hastening the cure of mosquito bites. Rubber gloves, antiseptic wipes, tinfoil, jackknife, or halazone tablets (which purify the water) are also to be included into a survival kit. Although these seem too many items to be carried on one person, they are in fact small, lightweight and definitely useful.

Winter camping can be dangerous without respecting the basic rules when it comes to this particular activity. Firstly, the cold is fought against with clothing of three types of layers as following: a liner layer against the camper's skin (longjohns), an insulation layer (fleece), and a water- and wind-proof outer shell.[3] Although cotton is one of the best quality fabrics there is, it is not recommended to be worn on winter camping because if it gets wet it dries out very slowly and the wearer could freeze. Rather than cotton, winter campers should wear wool or synthetic materials. The boots must be waterproof and the head must be protected against the cold given that more than half of the body's heat can be lost through this part of the body. Although it seems a good choice, campers are advised not to wear too many pairs of socks as they might restrict the blood flow to the feet resulting in cold feet. Gaiters should also be worn to avoid snow and rain wetting the boots. Secondly, one should include carbohydrates into their diet to keep their body warm as well as to provide energy. Hydration is very important so winter campers should drink plenty of water to keep themselves well hydrated. Thirdly, the tent must be carefully chosen to shelter from the wind.
Shelter constructed from a tarp

Camping equipment includes:

* First aid kit
* Tent, lean-to to act as a shelter.
* Hammer to drive tent stakes into soil.
* Sleeping bag and/or blankets for warmth.
* Sleeping pad or air mattress is placed underneath the sleeping bag for cushioning from stones and twigs as well as for insulation from the ground.
* Lantern or flashlight
* Hatchet, axe or saw for cutting firewood for a campfire.
* Fire starter or other ignition device for starting a campfire.
* Folding chairs for placement around campfire.
* Ropes for stringing clothes line and for securing the shelter.
* Tarp for adding additional layer of storm protection to a tent, and to shelter dining areas.
* Raincoat or poncho
* Hiking boots
* Fishing pole
* Chuck box to hold camp kitchen items for food preparation, consumption and cleanup.
* Trash bags particularly one with handles can be tied to a tree limb, or clothesline off the ground. For handling of waste in backcountry see Leave no trace.
* Insect repellent particularly one that has DEET.
* Sunscreen for protecting the skin.
* Personal care products and towel
* Cooler to store perishables and beverages. If electricity is available, a thermoelectric or stirling engine cooler can be used without the need for ice.
* Beverages or portable water filter for areas that have access to rivers or lakes.
* Campers at modern campgrounds will normally bring perishable foods in coolers while backcountry campers will bring non-perishable foods such as dried fruits, nuts, jerky, and MREs.
* A tripod chained grill, Dutch oven, or La Cotta clay pot can be used for cooking on a campfire. A portable stove can be used where campfires are forbidden or impractical. If using a campground with electricity an electric frying pan or slow cooker can be used.
* Firewood for Camp Fires

Much of the remaining needed camping equipment is commonly available in the home, including: dishes, pots and pans; however, many people opt not to use their home items, but instead utilize equipment better tailored for camping. These amenities include heavy plastic tableware and salt and pepper shakers with tops that close in order to shelter the shakers from rain. Backpackers use lightweight and portable equipment.

Camping Basic Tips

Camping is an outdoor recreational activity. The participants (known as campers) leave urban areas, their home region, or civilization and enjoy nature while spending one or several nights outdoors, usually at a campsite. Camping may involve the use of a tent, caravan, cabin, a primitive structure, or no shelter at all.

Camping as a recreational activity became popular in the early 20th century. Campers frequent national parks, other publicly owned natural areas, and privately owned campgrounds. Camping is a key part of the program of many youth organizations around the world, such as Scouting. It is used to teach self-reliance and team work.

Camping is also used as a cheap form of accommodation for people attending large open air events such as sporting meetings and music festivals. Organizers often provide a field and other basic amenities.

Always Follow these Six Essential Camping Tips:

* LET SOMEONE KNOW Inform someone of your camping plans including the location, even if you're going out for just one night. An unexpected accident in the middle of nowhere with one night's supply of food could lead to dire consequences if noone knows where to look for you.

* EXTRA CLOTHING Ever experienced hypothermia? I have. Please don't get caught in a storm during your camping or hiking trip without any dry clothes to put on. Even in summertime a violent hailstorm can make temperatures drop to well below comfortable levels, so come prepared and wrap some warm backup clothing in a waterproof dufflebag or similar.

* CHECK THE WEATHER It is absolutely vital to check the weather forecast well before departing on a camping trip. Mother Nature can be surprisingly violent with hail that will penetrate your tent, flash floods, snow, or winds that can easily blow your tent - and possibly you - away. Furthermore, camping is generally just no fun with crappy weather.
Check starting 5 days before your planned departure date and check every day... never slack off because today's weather is great, as tomorrow could be the exact opposite.

* WATER Especially in countries like Australia, you simply must have fresh drinking water available. When spending more than a couple of days out in the wild, it's highly advisable to take at least two five-gallon containers with fresh water.

* FOOD Another essential item in addition to water. Depending on where you're going and how you intend to get there (hike or drive?) will determine what foods to take. Certain Camping Grounds might have a small store so you can get yourselves some fresh supplies, but don't presume or rely on this and always bring backup food just in case.

Keep in mind that you don't want to take a fridgeful of steaks if you're planning on hiking in remote areas. Dried fruits, beef jerky, nuts, and special high energy bars are your best bet as they are lightweight but high in nutrients.

* FIRE Another danger of summertime (and winter time in some places) camping are ... fires. If you build a campfire, make sure you control it beyond what's needed... well beyond. Clear an area of at least 18 feet around your fire. You'd be surprised how a sudden gust of wind can let embers fly and flames crawl in a flash with no way of stopping it.
You wouldn't want to be the cause of the next major fire to hit California, Florida, or wherever now would you?

Also be aware of your surroundings at all times. Sudden thick smoke can be a fire up ahead. Even if you think the fire is still far away, keep in mind that fire has the potential to travel at dangerous speeds, especially in very dry conditions.

Columbia High Trail Family Dome Tent

Columbia High Trail Family Dome Tent

Product Features

* 8-person, 3-season screen dome tent made of coated 190T polyester taffeta
* Room divider turns tent into 2 bedrooms; Camp Port for electrical cords
* 4 large no-see-um mesh windows, roof vents, and side vents; 2 D-style doors
* 2 mesh interior pockets and gear loft; factory-sealed seams and polyester bathtub floor
* Includes nylon carrying bag; footprint measures 15 by 11 feet; weighs 28 pounds 2 ounces

View Products Details

Bring the family to the campsite and still have room to spare with the Columbia High Trail dome tent. The High Trail--which sleeps up to eight people--is spacious and versatile, with a room divider that turns the tent from one large room to two smaller rooms. As a result, you'll enjoy plenty of elbowroom while you sleep. The tent also includes four large no-see-um mesh windows, roof vents, and side vents, so you'll enjoy optimum ventilation even during rainstorms. And thanks to the factory-sealed fly and floor seams and the polyester bathtub floor--which wraps up the sides and is protected by a rain shingle--the High Trail keeps the wet weather at bay.

The tent also stores plenty of gear in addition to its eight campers, with two mesh interior pockets, a gear loft for organization, and two hanging cupholders. Finally, the tent sets up easily thanks to its freestanding design and combo clip-and-sleeve assembly. Other features include two large D doors for easy entry and exit, a woven reflective zipper pull, a flashlight loop, a small Camp Port for stretching electrical cords into the tent, and two mud mats sheltered by an overhanging semi-vestibule. The High Trail tent comes with poles, stakes, and an oxford nylon carrying bag with expandable gussets.

Key Features:

The High Trail sleeps up to eight campers and offers a roomy 165 square feet of space.
* Capacity: 6 to 8
* Dimensions: 15 by 11 feet
* Weight: 28 pounds, 2 ounces
* Area: 165 square feet
* Interior height: 6 feet 6 inches
* Pack size: 29 by 10 inches
* Poles: 9
* Pole size: 19mm steel (2), 9.5mm fiberglass (7)
* Pole material: Fiberglass and steel
* Doors: 2
* Hooded fly: Yes
* Windows: 4
* Gear loft: Yes
* Floor material: 190T polyester taffeta, 1,000mm coating
* Fly material: 190T polyester taffeta, 800mm coating
* Wall material: 190T polyester taffeta, 800mm coating/no-see-um mesh
* Roof material: No-see-um mesh
* Netting: No-see-um mesh
* Style: Modified hybrid dome
* Use: 3 seasons

Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value.

Buying a Tend Guide:

Columbia High Trail 6-10 person Tent

Columbia Badger Creek 10- Foot by 10.5- Foot 4 Person Sport Dome Tent

Other products by LED Wholesalers : High Power 3 Watt CREE LED 120 Lumen AA Headlamp, Light Weight Headlight for Camping Fishing Hiking, 8110

Product Features

* Sport dome tent with 800mm coated full fly; polyester floor
* Measures 10- feet by 10.5- feet and comfortably sleeps 4 people on camping trips
* Tub floor design helps prevent water from entering the tent
* Omni Shield Advanced Repellency technology keeps you dry and comfortable
* D-style door, internal pockets, cupholders, and gear loft

View Products Details

Offering a lightweight and compact design that comfortably sleeps up to five campers, Columbia's Badger Creek tent is ideal for weekend camping adventures with family and friends. Other details include color-coded fiberglass poles and sleeves for easy setup, a polyester taffeta body and rainfly, and a Camp Port for cable passage. The Bugaboo II measures 12 by 6.16 by 9 feet (W x H x D), weighs 21 pounds, and comes in a fossil, carbon, and boa combination.

Key Features:

* Sleeps 5 campers
* GoBe Dry Ultimate Rain Protection system
* Camp Port to allow easy passage of cables
* Cyclone Venting to allow for better air circulation when rainfly is in use
* Two external storage lockers, internal pockets, cupholders, and gear loft
* Color coded fiberglass poles and sleeves for easy set up
* Polyester taffeta body and rainfly
* Weighs 21 pounds

About Columbia Sportswear
Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value.

They introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then 60 year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign.

The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

Tent Guide

At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.

For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model.

These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration.

The Columbia® Bugaboo II dome tent offers quality family camping space for up to 5. It's crafted with the GoBe Dry® system for dependable rain protection and utilizes Cyclone venting to allow for better air circulation when the rainfly is in use. The color-coded fiberglass poles and sleeves provide an easy set-up.

Coleman Cool Zephyr Ceiling Fan with Light

an light combos : Coleman Cool Zephyr Ceiling Fan with Light

Product Features

* Attaches to any tent with magnetic plates
* Adjustable two-speed airflow control
* Fan and light are operated with independent controls
* Light features four white LED lights and one amber LED nightlight
* Operates on four D-cell batteries (sold separately)

View Products Details

Product Description
Keep your tent cool, comfortable and well-lit with the Coleman Cool Zephyr Ceiling Fan with Light. Square-shaped, dome-style tent for two to three sleepers; measures 7 by 7 feet
2. Lightweight enough for hiking and traveling
3. D-style door, back window, full rain fly
4. Shock-corded fiberglass poles; lightweight steel stakes for stability and strength
5. Nylon floors have taped floor seams; tent is backed by 10-year warranty

View Products Details
Nicely lightweight and easy to set up and breakdown, the sporty Wenzel Pinon dome-style tent is a great choice for a weekend car camping outing. It features a generously sized single room that measures 7 by 7 feet--great for storing lots of gear--and a 50-inch maximum height. In addition to the good-sized D-style door (with a mesh window covering half of it), this tent also includes a window on the back for cross-current ventilation. The interior is quite spare, with only a small gear pocket in one corner near the door.

Setting up the tent was easy, for the most part, and we erected the tent (with its two shock-corded fiberglass poles) in under five minutes. The one impediment to an even faster assembly was the heavy-duty nylon corner pockets that secure the poles, which included a polyester-reinforced interior flap that's not seamed at the top of the entry. Thus, we had a tougher time than we should have trying to make correct purchase with the pocket, continually hitting the space between the nylon pocket and the interior poly pocket.

But we could forgive this slight design flaw for such a nicely light and easily backpacked tent. This tent also includes a fly that offers a good coverage area, including a bit of an extended cover over the door and back window. While we didn't have rain during our testing, we did use a sprinkler for an extended period, and were pleased to note that the fly ably handled the water run off, guiding it away from the bottom of the tent. To improve this tent's weather resistance, it's recommended that you use seam sealer to coat all exposed seams, applying only to the underside of the fly and inside the seams of the tent.

Overall, the Wenzel Pinon is a good choice for car campers and for the occasional hiked excursion. While it won't stand up to the worst that Mother Nature can throw your way, it should handle a decent amount of rain. And its ample 49 square foot interior will hold two good-sized adults and a good amount of gear.

Wenzel Timber Ridge Sport 9-by-7-Foot Four-Person Dome Tent

Tent : Wenzel Timber Ridge Sport 9-by-7-Foot Four-Person Dome Tent

Keep your load limber during long hikes and extended cycling excursions with the Wenzel Timber Creek Sport dome tent. Large enough to sleep four people at once yet compact enough to fit conveniently on a backpack or saddle bags, the tent is great for all types of camping and conditions. The Timer Creek Sport includes such features as a Dutch D-style door for easy entry, along with a shock-corded fiberglass frame with pole pockets that sets up and disassembles quickly. Campers will also appreciate the weather-armor polyester fabric and tough side seams, which are reliably rugged and resist leaks of all kinds. The window and roof vents, meanwhile, do a nice job of ventilating the tent and controlling morning moisture.

Additional details include water-repellent threads, zippers, and webbing; a sonic-sealed floor that's welded (not sewn) to eliminate stitch and needle holes; and a removable fly for wet weather conditions. The Timer Creek Sport measures 9 feet wide by 7 feet long and is backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

View Products Details

Product Features

a. Wenzel Ponderosa 2-Room Sport Dome Tent

View Products Details

Great for hiking and biking trips, the Ponderosa two-room tent is lightweight enough at 10.8 pounds to carry on a backpack or saddle bags yet spacious enough to sleep four people at once. The tent base measures 10 feet by 8 feet, with a height in the center of 60 inches--more than enough space for an informal game of cards at midnight. The removable divider curtain, meanwhile, adds a bit of privacy in crowded conditions. Construction details range from a shock-corded fiberglass frame with a pin and ring connection to a weather-armor polyester fabric with a polyurethane coating. The frame is designed for quick and easy setup--a far cry from the clunky frames of yesteryear--while the coated fabric is reliable and sturdy regardless of the weather.

And should the rains come pouring down, the tent's armor-tough seams and water-repellent threads, zippers, and webbing stand ready to resist. The tent even includes sonic-sealed floors that are welded (not sewn) to eliminate stitch and needle holes, ensuring that water from rain-soaked dirt won't sneak in. Additional details include three windows (two in the front and one in the rear), Dutch D-style doors for easy entry from either side of the tent, and four mesh roof vents for circulation and moisture control. The Ponderosa is backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

Selecting Tent Guide

These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration.

Heatmax Hot Hands 2 Handwarmer (40 pairs)

Product Description
Designed for skiers, hunters, fishermen, golfers, or anyone who works or plays in the cold for long hours, the Heatmax HotHands-2 Hand Warmers are air-activated and will provide up to 10 hours of soothing warmth inside gloves, pockets or wherever you feel a chill. They are to arrive within 1 to 3 weeks. We are currently out of 12oz Sippy and 27 ounce bottles.....The Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottle is the purest and safest water bottle on the market I have personally seen the laboratory test and it came back showing outstanding results No lining made of aluminum or lead and no toxic paints. CARE INSTRUCTIONS: You may wash the bottle in the dishwasher but handwash the tops. Do not soak the tops in water or put the tops in the dishwasher. They will not work well if you do. I personally handwash the bottle and the tops as it gets them cleaner then in the dishwasher. Get a bottle-brush from your grocery store and scrub inside the bottle with soap and water. To get the new metal smell out, should you experience that, wash with white vinegar and very hot water.

View Products Details

Product Features

* The Klean Kanteen is a durable lightweight stainless steel water bottle without
the toxic after-tastes left by many water bottles
* The Klean Kanteen is a tough stainless steel water bottle which is toxin-free,
non-leaching and dishwasher safe
* The Klean Kanteen: no aluminum lining.
