St Mawes to Falmouth Ferry

During our holidays in St Austell we decided to take a trip on a ferry.

We drove to a little village called St Mawes and caught the ferry from there across to Falmouth.

The boat hoomans were nice boys (one of them called me "pooch!"), we sat on the bottom bit of the boat right at the front.

You have to get tickets before you get on board (from the little shed) and access is down concrete steps so not suitable for those who cant do steps or who have wheelchairs and pushchairs (unless you can carry them - some hoomans were carrying their pushchairs!)

Dogs can sit anywhere on the boats and their are 3 different boats that do the trip. Duchess of Cornwall, May Queen and Queen of Falmouth. (we got the Duchess to Falmouth and the May Queen back to St Mawes).

It costs £9 for a return adult hooman ticket, £4.30 for a hooman puppy and dogs travel free :)

Ship Inn - Par PL24 2AR

We visited the Ship Inn at Par twice during our holiday in St Austell (actually 2 days in a row!) for dinner and drinks.

The 1st visit was on Thursday evening around 7pm, we sat in the garden and the hoomans ordered their dinner. Hooman boy had the "steamer" what is a chilli burger covered in spicy hot sauce and jalapeno peppers and cheese and hooman girl had the vegtabalist stuffed mushroom burger (it's a mushroom wiff olives and onions and cheese and sunblushed tomatoes in a burger bun).

Hooman boy went in side to order the dinner and then we waited whilst enjoying the garden - There was lots of dogs coming and going!

The food arrived quite quickly and we got stuck in.

The food was scrummy and both mine hoomans ate everything on their plates (I didn't even get anything)
They both really liked that the salad had balsamic vinegar on and the food was a good size and hot and tasted good.

The garden is nice, a good size and has undercover bits if you dont want to get wet in the rain or want to shelter from the hot sun. It also has a climbing "shoe" and slide for the hooman puppies.

So we had a nice evening at the ship inn and decided to go back on Friday night on way back from a day out.

We sat under the covered area coz it was raining tonight and we looked at the menu to see what to eat. It was still quite earlies so we had wait until half 5 when they start doing food before we could order.
When it was time to order hooman boy choosed the ship inn pie (beef and ale) and hooman girl being the hooman she is choosed the mushroom burger again. We orlso ordered garlic bread and cheesy garlic bread too.

The hooman from the pub came out and said we would have to wait for the pie coz them still being cooked from raw in the oven. At 6pm dinner was served!

Hooman boy thought his was soopa (and this time I got to try some of the pie meat and garlic bread) but hooman girl found they had done her mushroom different (she doesn't like different!) and thought it had tasted better on Thursday evening. She said the different was that on Thursday all the stuffing bits were big and on top the mushroom and the mushroom was quite soft but on Friday the cooky hooman had chopped all the stuffings up real small and put it IN the mushroom and also the mushroom was harder/chewy so when her bit it ... it all fell out!
Also the salad was a little .... AWOL all her got was some plain green leaves, no other salad and no dressing :(
But still her ate most of it up! but would of preferred a Thursday burger. Her does like that they do a decent vegetablist meal though, instead of just a soggy, greesy frozen vegetable burger you see in most pubs.

We decided we wanted to hexplore some of Cornwall this year and so we set about booking a holiday park where I would be welcomed and we could go out on lots and lots of day trips to do hexploring.

We looked at the Hoseasons website and found a site in St Austell called "Sun Valley" (it's not actually owned by Hoseasons it's a privately owned site) and decided to book it up for a weeks holibobs!

We booked and paid through the Hoseasons website and received a confirmation email the next day.

The day of our holiday finally arrived and we headed off to St Austell. We stopped en route at Wheal Martyn Museum and then made our way to sun valley. Check in was at 4pm and on arrival I sent hooman girl in to the reception to collect the keys and find out where the caravan is. The hooman on reception showed hooman girl a map and told her where to go and what times the shop, reception, club, swimming pool, etc all opened and closed.

Sun Valley have static caravans and apartments on site or you can bring your own caravan or tent also.

On site they have a camp shop, arcade, bar, soft play, park, dog exercise area, wabbits (pets and wild ones), goats, swimming pool, launderette, telephones, table tennis and a take away (but dogs aren't allowed in any of these - except the dog walk area obviously!)

Accommodation

NO I absolutely am NOT on the bed!

we booked the sun valley standard 6 berth caravan - Though I am certain that is not what we stayed in coz it duznt got enough beds and only had 4 plates in the cupboard. As it turned out it wasn't a problem coz hooman grandad who was suppose be coming is in hospital and so was just me and my 2 hoomans so we only needed the 2 bedrooms that we had!

The caravan is quite nice, it has a nice spacious lounge/living area and then you go through a door to the bedrooms and bathrooms.

There was 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin and a bathroom with a shower and sink and separate room with the toilet and paw basin. The bedrooms are quite small but that's okay if you just using them to sleep in. They have plugs, heater, storage, etc in them which was good so I could plug in my laptop and store all my bandannas away.

The showers were okay, but the water pressure wasn't very high (but it was fine), there isn't a shelf in the shower though which hooman boy was bothered by and had to buy shower gel with a hanger so he could shower without having to hold soap and bottles the whole time.
There was a nice amount storage in the shower room and towel heaters (nice touch!), the toilet room is very small though so if your hoomans are a bit on the large side they should be careful when turning around in there that they dont get stuck or burn their bottoms on the heater BOL

The cooky thing is gas and makes a scary noise when you turn it on and the kettle is one those you put on the cooker to warm up like the old hoomans use.

There's 2 doors one at either end the caravan (Though one of our doors doesn't open!) so you can come in/go out from both ends!
Access is via wooden steps - I was a bit scared at first but then I realised I can do them easy peesy!

There is a wooden picnic bench outside every caravan which is a soopa touch and meant we could have our take away outside in the sun (on the one sunny evening we had).

Activities

On site there's a smallish arcade, a soft play, a play park and a swimming pool.

We didn't use the play park (no hooman puppies) but it looked quite good with nice modern equipment , the soft play looked soopa lots of fun and my hooman girl wanted to jump in and have a go. The arcade has some fun machines to play on too.

The swimming pool is indoors and heated #bonus theres a large pool that gets 1.5 metres deep and a smaller toddler/splash pool too. Sun loungers around the pools and on the outside deck area. Separate male and female changing rooms with showers and toilets.
Sun Valley have a no lone swimming rule as the pool isn't lifeguarded and they wouldn't want you to drown or anything, and you aren't allowed take any inflatables in (unless they are to help you swim like arm bands).

You can see the pool from the bar/club which is a bit odd but guess older hoomans can get a drink whilst the hooman puppies swim (as long dem old enuff to swim alone ofcourse)

My hoomans went swimming one afternoon/evening and was the only ones using the pool so that was nice fur dems *nods*

The pool is open 9.30am - 9pm (except it closed for a bit around lunch time for water treatment)

Facilities

There's a launderette on site. Washing machines are £2 a wash, tumble driers are 20p a go (lasts maybe 2 mins). There's an iron you can use too which is free to use and a hair drier too (also free). There a change machine in there too so dont worry if you dont got change when you need use it.

The site shop sales basic necessities like bread, milk, squash, snacks, etc. The prices aren't bad for a camp shop but most the products are from lidl's by the looks of them.

Other information

Kitty is fwend not food...

There is wild wabbits running all over especially in the dog walking area so if you are a non small furry friendly dog then your hoomans should make shur they hold you tight or muzzle you or something, there is also 2 cats (dont know if they belong to the site or just local but they hang around the caravans alot).

The campsite isn't soopa well signposted. We drove past the entrance a few times coz we missed the turning when coming back from days out. There is a brown tourist sigh opposite but the hedge is grown over it and the actual camp signs are small and not very bright so not easily seen.

The phone and sat nav signal in the area isn't good so make sure you know where you going coz the sat nav may not work.

Wi-fi onsite can be purchased for £20 for the week (there was also an hr or day option as well) the signal isn't greyt (one bar most time) but it's better than nothing.

Dog exercise area is a small paddock. Small fence around it and the gate doesn't secure so not safe for off lead exercise (unless you very good ofcourse) and as I said lots of wabbits running around. There is a bin provided so you can clear up after yourself (or get the hoomans to do it).

Good area, coast path opposite, close to other towns and the A road so you can easily go out for day trips, lots of pubs, cafes, take-aways near by, garage at end of pentewan road (towards st austell not mevagissey) and supermarkets near by too (Tesco and Asda), Mcdonalds, KFC, Dominos pizza.

Summer Holiday - Day 3 Tintagel Castle

On day 3 of our summer holiday to Cornwall we drove all the way to Tintagel to visit the castle what is "apparently" the place where king Arfur lived and his magician Merlin liffed in the cave at the bottom the cliff (I not shur why when Arfur had a hooge castle right there).

We had walk down a really steep slope to get to the castle estate bit and then up billions of steps (apparently there's over 100 but I not shur how many more than 100 there are) to get to the castle.

The castle isn't really there any more, it sorta fell down a long time ago (or the land moved and its under the earth I dont know its not there any way!) but its a nice place to walk around and look at the bits that are still there and the views are soopa too.

There's a beach at the bottom but its quite hard to get to coz its a big step down and over rocks what is something I couldn't manage so I didn't get to go on the beach here, juz look at it!

After all that climbing I was hexorstid (so was the hoomans) so we took advantage of the land rover service and got a ride back up the slope at the end! It cost £2 per hooman and 50p for mahself to haff a ride up the hill which was okay since it meant we didn't haff to walk any more.

I needed some help to get in the land rover (hooman girl had to lift me in - I hate being picked up so I did not enjoy this one bit!) but it was a nice ride and the driver was a nice hooman, he has a weimi a bit like my fwend Tessamaraner cept bigger wiff smorler luggs *nods*

Once we was up top I jumped out the land rover and we went over to the pasty shop opposite (Pengenna) they make soopa pasties what we tried last time we was in Tintagel so we bought some to take back to the caravan wiff us and then we drove to Trebarwith Strand for lunch at the Port William .

After lunch we went to Trebarwith Surf Shop - I was allowed inside the shop what wuz soopa good news and the lady what werks there gived me soopa fusses and ear scritches. Mine hoomans bought some t-shirts wiff "trebarwith strand surf shop Cornwall" on dems and we got ice lollies too.

Then we went down on to the beach and I did some zoomies and we orlmost got cut off by the tide so got orl wet when we walked back to the wheelies!

Park Day 2.0 Follow-Up

So if you are a regular reader of mine bloggy (which I know you all are!) then you would of seen the park day bingo that a bunch of us was playing recently!

Play Date wiff Casey Lurcha - Withdean Park Brighton

It was a luffly sunny day and me and Casey (and the hoomans) had a soopa time.

The Lamb Inn - Witterings

We had stopped for dinner at the lamb inn last year when we were in the area for the GBGW and the food was quite nice then so I suggested we get lunch here where we arrived to camp in the area on Tuesday.

I think they have new owners now so it's a bit different , they have re-done their garden and have some nice new seating on either patio or grass.

The lamb tell me they are dog friendly inside and out (think there's a section of the pub that isn't dog friendly but that okay!)

Hooman girl went inside to order noms and we chose to sit in the garden coz the rain had stopped (though it did start again soon). We ordered the fish and chips and sat down in the garden to wait for it.

The food was ready in a good amount of time, we didnt have to wait soopa long time for it.
I thought this was an interesting looking fish and chips but .... did they run out of plates or something? BOL

I helped hooman girl eat it and it was very tasty noms indeedy (her wouldnt try the tartar sauce her such a wuss)

The lamb is a nice pub and would be good if it was a nice sunny afternoon or warm evening to sit out in the garden and whilst the hoomans chat.

The food is reasonably priced not cheap but also not too expensive really especially for the area (Things seem to cost more here than in Dawlish)

Red House Farm Camping - PO20 7JG

On Tuesday morning we packed up and left Higher Moor Farm in Dorset and headed for Red House Farm in west sussex! It was quite a soopa easy route and didnt take long at all (about 1.5 hrs)

Check in wasnt until 2pm so we stopped fur lunch at "The Lamb" and then went for a (wet) walkies with Uncool Robin, Lulu and Murphy, we orl did sniffings the field and Murphy did bouncing and shouting (hims a puppy still) and then me and lulu went back to the house where I snoozed and my hooman girl gave Lulu soopa lots fusses and hugs. We orl talked about my 1st luff Malcolm who recently went to rainbow bridge (he was uncool Robins boy) and then it was time to head back to the farm to pitch the tent.

On arrival at Red House Farm there was no one at the office , a sign said to ring the doorbell round the side the shed or call on the phone (we did both to make soopa shur we would be discovered). The lady wasnt home but called back and said to go ahead and set up and gave us a recommendation on which would be best pitch to choose (33 she said).

I had lunch in the car (did I mention it had been raining since the morning and still was?) whilst hooman girl unloaded everything. A little bit later the lady came back with her 2 hyper but lovely dogs (think they black labs) her ever so nicely helped us pitch the tent coz it wasnt doing what it spose to do (like stand up or bend in the right places) and then her went back to dry off whilst hooman girl did the rest the pitching and I soopervised from in the car.

Eventually the tent was ready and we went in, dried off and I put my PJ's on and got in to bed coz I was wet and cold; then hooman girl got her dry clothes on and joined me. We stayed there until morning except fur wees and re-securing bits of the tent a few times.

Wednesday the sun was out when we came home from an adventure with Elfie and Co so we sat outside and checked out the site.

Weymouth Seafront

The far end (right if you face out to sea) of Weymouth beach is dog friendly all year round (the whole beach is dog friendly beginning October - beginning May)

I like it here coz the sand is soopa soft and the sea is nice to paddle in.

Dogs can also walk all the way up the promenade where there is lots and lots of little huts and cafes and they can see all the nommy things to nom. My favorite? mr whippy in a cornet - no flake.

The adventures of Portland Cat

On monday morning (after breakfast and morning wees) we went for a drive up to portland bill

Portland Bill is a nice area on a cliff top with rocks to climb, nice views and ... A lighthouse! (But this isnt dog friendly inside, we wud probably struggle with the stairs any way)

We had a nice walk around looking at the water below and the lighthouse and climbed on some of the rocks (think they were what you call "portland stone") and we sat fur a while and ate some cake and had drinks on one of the rocks.

There is a nice grassy area next to the stone bits what you can walk on and maybe have a picnic and enjoy the scenary (just dont go in thr fenced off area what be MOD and says "keep out dogs working")

Play date with Bran and Ernie

Once hooman girl had finally got the tent to stand up we set off to Bournmouth to meet up wiff my fwends fur walkies (well we got a bit lost, then we got stuck in traffic the we got a bit more lost then we got to Bran's house at long last)

We decided on going to the beach and so we drove down to the seafront (I've been here before for the Air Show) Bran showed me where we could walk now it was beach season which means that we can only zoom in certain places. We went on to the beach and all did zoomies and playing. Mahself and Ernie had races and played chase and bran did some solo zoomies and play bows (he's an indendant sort of guy) Ernie did some diving in the sea and chased some seagulls that were digging in to some cuttlefish for their dinner.

After we had used up all our energy we walked back to our wheelies and said bye to Ernie coz he had go get hims hooman puppy. Mahself, Bran, my hooman girl, Brans hoomans and Ontie Em all went back to Brans where the hoomans chatted and us hounds snoozed. Brans hairy hooman cooked dinner for the hoomans and he had made cake fur afters (it was all bery nommy if you ever get invited to brans I suggest you go). Once the hoomans were done chatting and nomming hooman girl said we had to go find the campsite again and make sure the tent was still standing and get the air beds inflated ready fur nite time (plus i still hadnt had dinner).

So we all said goodbye to each other and hairy hooman gave us some cake to take back to the tent with us.

I had soopa time, it was luffly to see my fwends again and get some proper pointy nosed playing in.

Higher Moor Farm - Weymouth

Sunday 12th May

Hooman girl comed down stairs at 7am (yes 7am) and began putting lots different noms in to a special bag to stop them getting hot incase the sun came out! Then her loaded bags and sleepy bags and pillows and the camera in to the wheelies (i stayed on the sofa soopavisings). Once her wuz dun organising I was taken fur morning weez and then loaded in to the wheelies as well!

All set and secure we began our adventure!

We drove along lots of zigzaggy roads twisting and turning until we came to a gate and a security barrier. We had arrived at higher moor farm campsite - hooman girl entered a magic code in to the machine and the barrier opened and let us into the field.

- i'll skip all the putting tent up dramas but i sunbathed and had a late breakfast whilst it happened around me -

The campsite

Higher moor farm is a medium sized campsite that allows tents, caravans, and motorhomes (just no commercial vehicles) and naturally dogs are welcomed.
So its like a big field with a little road up the middle and lots little cabins dotted around which are the toilets, showers, etc.

There is also a play park plus goal net, basketball hoop and table tennis table, a farm shop and a sectioned off doggy walking/toilet area (coz it is not polite to do #pooclub on your neighbours doorstep.)

Toilets/showers

The toilets are inside one of the little portacabins but inside it looks lovely and smart. There are about 5 cubicles and 2 showers (with hand basins for private washing area), a really pawsome hand dryer and a hair dryer too.

The soap dispensers work and were well stocked, plenty of loo roll and the cleanest we seen on a campsite if not overall.

The main door kept swinging open and not securing when shut on the 1st day we stayed but they put a self closing mechanism in whilst we were there which fixed this problem (but stopped me spying on hooman girl).

Play area

No dogs allowed in the play area but it is close to the tent pitches on that side of the site so you can keep peepers on the hooman puppies whilst they play safely.

Dog toilet/walking area

This is a part of the field that has a perimiter fence around it (only around one side so isnt secure area) for you to do wees and pooclub.
This is good because alot of sites say dogs to be exercised off site but that not soopa practical for last wees before bed or early morning pooclub so this is nice to only have to walk to the corner the field - just cross your legs until you get there (we camped as close to it as we could get)

Farm shop

I not sure if dogs are allowed in here but i think not so i waited in the wheelies and sent hooman girl to check out the inside.
They sale ice cream, frozen dinners, dog food, cake, post cards, drinks, sweets, fruit, essential camping equipment like wash products and tinned food and even camping stoves.
It was a nice shop and not too expensive either, nice hooman working there too he was soopa fwendly (hooman girl didnt ask his name tho).

Washing facilities

There is a washing up point on side of the toilet block and roomer has it that there is a laundry room which also has a washing up sink - we didnt see it but the map says its the other side the site by the farm barns. I have seen fotos of it on their facebook page and it looks soopa so if you stay longer than 2 days then you could check those out.

Pawsome points!

1. Not a large site so not overly busy and crowded but also plenty space for everyone
2. Good size pitches
3. Staff are friendly and helpful (they let us check in early too so we could get set up before going go meet my fwends)
4. Clean
4. Good facilities
5. Free wifi
6. Free showers which are temperture and pressure controlled by you

Things that weren't so soopa

1. Very windy insite so peg down that tent well and the grounds very soft so the tent pegs do move about when it's especially windy
2. The electricity pilon was quite noisy at times
3. No locks on shower cubicles

Park Day 2.0 BINGO!

My friend Misaki mentioned on her blog that she had been playing park day bingo which is a game invented by Gizmo and Finn.

Long tail short you have to choose a bingo card off Gizmo's blog and do all the items on it to make a line of 5 and then shout BINGO!

I've chosen 2 cards to work on whilst I'm away camping next week.

Now I have been on a looong week camping adventure I have managed to get some of my bingos crossed off (but we didnt manage get fotos of every single one so I dont know if I qualifry- like the flutterby we couldnt get a foto of him) here's what I saw/did!

Find flowers - I found lots but heres me and some daisys in my fwends garden

Find a dog playing frisbee - Now I saw my fwend George AKA fluffybum playing frisbee but I didnt get a foto so heres a foto taken on the same day of me with my fwends (George is the fluffy one far right)

Find a monument/sculpture - heres a war monument in Southsea Portsmouth I did see

Take a walk in a nature reserve - here I am at Berry head nature reserve (I standing VERY still coz its on top a cliff)

Visit a park more than 30 mins from home - here I am with my fwend Casey in Brighton (its about 5 hrs from home)

Spot a squirrel - does nutty count? I met him at a country show on bank holiday Monday

Visit nearest body of water - here's me and theres the water behind me

The others I did were like pages and follow blogs so I cant prove I did those very easy.

Pedigree Nutrition Plan!

So I was surfing the interweb the other week when an email popped in from my good friends at pedigree; as some of you know I did the Pedigree Joint Care + trial last year and they were wondering if I might like to take part in another sort of trial for their "nutritional plan" where basically I have to eat a bunch their food and treats for 4 weeks and answer some questions about the foods I been eating - This is my favourite sort of product trial coz one thing I'm quite soopa good at is eating.

A man in a van turned up last week, he knocked our door and said he had a delivery for my hooman girl, him sed it was on a pallet and did us want the pallet (we didn't!)

So about the trial -

Before Pedigree sent me the food and treats they emailed us a questionnaire asking important questions about my eating habits and exercise and health etc.

For example they asked how old I was, what breed I was and how mobile I am, how much exercise I get a day on average and if my weight is okay or not.

Then after I tried the foods they want to know how I got on so have asked me to tell them if I liked the food, if I ate it all or left it, what my favourite bits were and if I will carry on eating it or recommend it to a friend.

STAY TUNED! ....

So its been ... I dunno 3 or 4 weeks.... since I got my huge delivery of stuff from pedigree and they have asked me to let them know how I got on by answering some questions.

I got my girl to do the answering fur me coz I am much too busy at moment.

Was your dog more excited at meal times: cat showed more interest in her dinner at times and tended to eat the whole meal and not just pick at it.

Did your dog like the food : yes cat liked the food, she preferred the tinned food to the kibble but did like those too. Her fav tinned is lamb in gravy and as we already know she loves the joint care + chews which she has been having for just over 12 months now.

Would you be likely to buy pedigree in future: I would buy the tinned meat in future as cat tends to prefer pedigree tinned to other brands and will continue to buy the joint chews for cat as well as other pedigree treats at times. I would most likely not buy the kibble as cat is better on working dog food and the cost of feeding her on the type of kibble provided to us for the trial would be far greater than what she normally eats. However I do think the kibble is good and she did enjoy it.

Did any products stand out: the joint care + chews are a great product and have worked amazingly well for cat in the 12 months she has been eating them. We noticed a difference in her energy levels within the 1st few days of trying them and she has sustained far fewer injuries to her muscles and joints whilst walking/running/playing than she was doing before she had them (also a while ago cat had a week off of having them as we had ran out and couldn't get to shop and we noticed the difference in her energy levels).

Cat liked the lamb tinned meat the best out of all the flavours and prefers the gravy to loaf. We will continue to buy the tinned meat for topping her kibbles in future.

Has the trial changed your opinion of pedigree: not really as we have always fed our dogs pedigree treats since we got our 1st dog 12years ago. Eddie (our 1st greyhound) always had a daily dentasix chew for years and also really enjoyed schmakos and cheesy bite treats on occasion and Cat is a big fan of the pedigree twisters (she'd eat the whole pack of 3 sticks in one go if we let her and has done in the past when she helped herself to her friends helpings as well) and as I said before Cat has her joint care chews daily and we have bought tinned meat from pedigree in the past as well.

What was your overall experience of trial: cat enjoyed taking part in the trial, she enjoyed all the food and treats and finished most meals in one sitting not leaving large amounts until another time. She did leave meals a few times but that isn't unusual for her to be doing that for various reasons.

Cornish Beaches by Bazil

As I haven't been to much of Cornwall and only seen 3 beaches there I asked a friend of mine to help me out with some vital info on a few more Cornwall Beaches.

Bazil is a young Terrier (he tells me he a Jack Russel X Border Terrier), He recently agreed to share his forever sofa with a sisfur called Molly and they love nothing more than a zoom and sniff at the beach and sporting rather fetching bandanna’s! (I do luff a bandanna!!!)

Crantock Beach – Newquay

Car Parking – there is a National Trust car park for the beach, open all year but charges apply only during National Trust season, free to National Trust members.

This is the most amazing beach for zoomies, when the tide is low the beach is huge. You can walk to Crantock at low tide from Newquay along the river Gannel. Up from the beach there are some brilliant dunes which are great for exploring but we stay on our leads otherwise we would chase the bunnies & you need to watch for adders in the Spring months as they don’t take to kindly to us sniffing at their young and can give us dogs a nasty bite! Ouch!

Just up from the National Trust car park is a cafe for yummy noms, which is open during the summer season.

Fistral Beach – Newquay

Car Parking - there is a car park at the beach which is controlled by “Parking Eye” cameras, make sure you put a ticket on your car as the fine for not paying is huge!

You can also park at the other end of the beach, South Fistral, up at Pentire on the road which is free. This does get busy during the summer months though.

Fistral is a famous surfer’s beach which is very popular and gets very busy in the summer, it is dog friendly all year round but we tend to only go in the evenings during the busy times as it is quieter then. We’ve watched lots of great sunsets down here in the evenings. Another big beach at low tide and lots of locals uses it for dog walking. Lots of bins situated along the beach so no excuse not to pick up our poop!

At South Fistral end is dog friendly Bodhis, for just a coffee or a full dinner and down the main end of the beach are some surf shops, we have to go in Fat face every time for mum. There is also a dog friendly beach bar for a cheeky beer or a coffee, a Ben & Jerrys ice cream shop which sells Cornish pastys & sausage rolls and a seasonal fish n chip shop, nom nom!

It is also good to walk up to the headland from here where you can sometimes see the famous Cribber wave and some very brave surfers and some spectacular views. For a real treat you can pop into the very posh, dog friendly Headland Hotel for a yummy cream tea.

Mawgan Porth

Car Parking – there are some privately owned car parks which tend to charge by the day/half day across the road from the beach.

Dog poo bins at the edge of the beach.

Another year round dog friendly beach where the tide goes out a long way, with a stream running in to the sea. We like to walk across the beach up onto the cliff path along to Bedruthan Steps where there is a National Trust (open National Trust season), this is normally where we take mum for her mother’s day cream tea. Dogs are only allowed in the garden here though, pfft. There is also a national trust shop and some picnic benches if you like to bring your own noms.

Mum n dad also like a very basic campsite up at Bedruthan Steps, open July and August only,dog friendly with the most amazing views. Watch the sun go down eating your BBQ and wake up to the sound of wildlife and the sea, heaven.

Newquay Harbour to Lusty Glaze

Car Parking - you can park in one of the many public car parks located in or near the town.

This is a lovely walk to do at low tide, pop on your wellies and take a long stroll from the harbour where you can often see the seals , across Towan, Great Western , Tolcarne and onto Lusty Glaze. During the summer months you can’t go up from the beach at Tolcarne or Lusty Glaze as dogs are prohibited, although at Lusty we are allowed on the beach in the evenings, I think from 6pm. All the beaches are accessed by steep steps/hills so not for those of you who like the flat. You must also keep an eye on the tide times as it is easy to get cut off at Lusty end of the beaches.

Treyarnon to Constantine Bay

Car Parking – all year round parking in a field by the beach, charges by the day during summer season.

There is a burger van and small shop in the car park and also public toilets. There is also a YMCA hostel and cafe.

Poo bins located near the toilets.

We love it here, a small beach at Treyarnon but a huge long beach at Constantine. We like to go down on the rocks at Treyarnon with the nets and buckets for some amazing rock pooling and walk along to Constantine. There is sometimes a coffee van at the top of Constantine and there are public toilets just off the beach.

Perranporth

Car Parking - there is a pay on entry car park at Perranporth, charges during summer months.

Public toilets are in the car and poo bins are at the edge of the beach.

Perranporth is a holiday town with various pasty shops, fish n chip shops, pubs and cafes. The Watering Hole is a lovely dog friendly pub on the beach that does the best hot chocolate around (so the boy tells me) and some good food.

A huge long beach at low tide which is dog friendly all year round, but there is a restriction during the summer months to keep us on our leads during certain times (I’m not sure what these times are) this beach gets mega busy where the lifeguarded area is but not so busy further along. A great out of season beach for long walk and super zoomies.

I spent this morning lying on the floor of Pets At Home in Exmouth showing all the hoomans that comed in to do shopping fur der dogs and cats and wabbits what wonderful pets us pointy noses make.

I got fusses from some hoomans and some hooman puppies, I wuz fed treats by a nice little hooman puppy and I sold some cakes and ask fur donations in the special bucket.

No one wanted to guess how many biskwits were in the bottle to win Tilly the duck. We had a go and guessed 140 biskwits, now us will wayt to see if we wuz right or not.

A few hoomans comed and arsked if us found Pwingle the missing whippet yet (which we have not but you can follow his story here)

Hard at werk!

All the pennies raised today and all weekend and all next weekend from the cakes and guess the biscuits and donations in the bucket and a raffle is goink to the greyhound sanctuary to help rehome and rescue more greyhounds and lurchers.

Me and my Twinny

Some of you may have seen my good fwend Raffi before, he's a Moo dog like mahself and we duz do looking soopa alike (well we looked more alike before I got old and went grey). Raffi lives in the middle of the land so I dont see him much but him duz holidaying down here in Devon with his hoomans so we meets up and do sniffs and get fusses and Raffi duz some his singing, he has a bootimus voice.

So any ways Raffi has been on holibobs this week and so we met up for a catch up.

The Greyt Charity Dog Meet and Fun Dog Show - What happened?

So as you all know we have been organising the Greyt Charity Dog Meet for some months now (seems like fureva!) and as the date creeped closer and closer we got more and more paniked especially in the last week when all it has done is rain and rain and rain and rain... *sigh*

Any way, last night after endless rain and the area flooding and having landslips and fallen trees we had 7 voice messages, 105 facebook notifications, and 12 emails ranging from "I cant make it because.." and "will the event be cancelled"

Any way.. we REFUSED to cancel the event. A bit (ok a lot) of rain doesn't put us off. and so at 0730 this morning mayhem ensued at our house with boxes being moved around and put in the car and then I was bundled in with them all as well and we drove down the road and in to a big gate, and then we had unpack orl the boxes and then lots other hoomans turned up with their boxes and unpacked dem too!

Once everyone was done unpacking (well before actually) more hoomans arrived with lots of different dogs in all sorts of shapes and sizes and colours.

They all did some shopping, buying treats and jams and soaps and cakes and things and then at 12:00 we started the doggy show.

Then there was lots of clearning up to do and packing away - I was quite norty whilst everyone wuz busy I made a break fur it and ran around the hotel grounds and hooman girl had chase me coz I wouldn't recall. ooops!!

Any way - we did adding up the numbers when we got home and this is how we did

which makes somewhere in the region of £ 331.12 - we still have to add the money from stall holders and the left over money from the auction earlier in the year to this total as well so I think we did soopa and our 2 charities will be soopa pleased with the money we have for them.

edit: we have now counted and added all the money together and Our event raised in total (after costs) £704.82

£498 will go to Darcy's Legacy in memory of Darcy the Deerhound and research in to canine osteosarcoma and £326 will go to Teignmouth RNLI to help them save some more lives on my beach.

Weekend Camping - Just me and my girl!

So I have been thinking for a while that I need to go up to Portsmouth again and see my good fwend Sir Elfie as he was the one what taught me how to play with others last year when I visited with him for the GBGW and I wanted to show him how I much I learnt!

So I did looking on the interweb for somewhere to stay fur the nite and founds a nice sheeps farm what I could stay at so I did do orl the booking and paying fur that (well hooman girl did coz dem wudnt accept bookings from a hound or something!)

So Saturday morning comes and I was rudely pulled from my bed at 6am, taken fur wees and put in to the car (after putting my harness and seat belt on of course!) Hooman girl did lots of driving and I took the opportunity to catch up on my sleep that I had missed out on when I was taken to the car in the middle of the night.

Any ways, us did getting to West Wittering and had to drive up this really bumpy holey lane to get to the sheeps farm. We did arriving and it was only 0915am so the driving didn't take long at all really. It went soopa fast!

Us went to the reception bit of the farm to tell the farm hoomans we had arrived .... but no one was there :( So us did ringing the mobile fone to let them know we wuz heer ... but there was no answer :( So we did ring the office numba that was on the door ... but no one said heywo! We left a message fur them to do ringing us wen dem wuz quite ready to talk. We waited outside the farm fur a likkle bit, Had a smorl walk around so I could stretch mah legs and do my wees. But still no one came to say heywo to us. *sigh*

So I made the decision to go back down to Portsmouth to meet my good fwend Sir Elfie (plus his sisfur Moo, their hooman puppies, our fwend Rex and the hoomans) and I would come back laterz to put the tent up at the farm.

We did getting to Portsmouth (or Eastney actually!) and I did sit on the beach fur a little bit to eat my bwekfast and get my walkies outfit on. I sended Elfie a message on the fone to say we wuz heer and him did say we wuz a bit in the wrong place and to walk up towards his house and him wud meet me and show me where to goze to get to our adventure. So that's what we did.

Once I had found Elfie, Moo, Ontie Jenn and the hooman pups we walked up the road and I sore lots and lots of boats what wuz soopa hexciting, I luff boats. Then we walked across a bridge and Q up to get on a soopa boat that will take us to a island where we can run and zoom and hexplore and sniff and orl sorts.

Heer we are on the boat....

We arrived on the island (it like a 5 min ride) and met Rex and his hooman there. Then we walked ova to the sand joons and beach and some hexploring.

After the adventure we all stopped for a lie down and noms at the cafe before getting the boat back

Once we were back on earth and we said bye bye to Elfie and Moo; I walked back to the wheelies and we drove back to the campsite to see if any one was home this time.

They was ... Wooohooo! Dem did telling mahself dem must of been looking after new baby lambs when I came earlier. So any way. We arrived, told the hoomans we was heer and the one hooman did showing hooman girl the options of where we could put the tent for the night. There's like - I dunno - 5 paddocks what you can put your tent or caravan/campervan/motor home in. We chose the 1st once coz it was nearest and that just makes most sense. The hooman said to not put the wheelies on the grass coz of all the mud and things and instead coz them not busy just to leave the wheelies by the gate in to the paddock thing. There was only one other hoomans staying and they had parked their motor home on the pathway that runs up in front all the other paddocks (not infront of ALL of them it wud be a hoooge wheelies to do that).

Any ways. Hooman girl put the tent up and I soopervised (I'm helpy like that!) Her did quite a soopa job since her had do it her ownself and it quite a soopa big tent really with just 2 hooman hands to use!

So let me tell you some good and not so good things about the campsite!

Well 1st of all the campsite is called Stubcroft farm and it is in Stubcroft lane, East Wittering

Good Bits

It's quiet
There's lots of space
The farmer man wuz very helpy, showed us where to go and said if us need to ask anythink, want a map or directions or informations or anything to go tell him.
It's close to West Wittering and East Head beach what is a soopa soopa place to visit for walkies and zoomies and paddling and picnics and things. Soopa!
It has a shop onsite for "essentials" like wet wipes, snozzages, drinks, that kinda thing.
Its "eco-friendly" it has lots of spesal hooman toilets and showers what is nice to the environment and lots of recycling bins. (Although I cant tell you anything about this or show you photos coz dem wuz orl locked up when we was there)
It's easy to find. Prob best not to use a sat nav unless you do what we did which was instead of putting the posty codes in we put "Tile Barn Lane" in to the satty nav and it took us there. Then you just need turn on to Stubcroft lane and drive up the bumpy lane to get there.
It doesn't cost lots to stay there
It close to shops and take aways and things so you can go get noms
They allow firepits and BBQ's (if you use the stones provided)

Not so good bits

There's BANGS. I do not luff bangs and things kept going BANG BOOM all the time. (I think wuz a bird scarer thing but it mite of been a hunter I dont know fur certains)
The lane to get to the farm is soopa bumpy and full of holes and things (coz it belongs to the farm so it not nice and road like)
It soopa muddly so rememba yooz boots or wellys
The washing up water taps didnt work (they prob will in summer though)
They didnt answer their fones for ages and then said we shud of rang their mobile (but we did do that a bunch times!)

Holly would like to recommend The Edgemoor Hotel in Bovey Tracey! Here's what she has to say!

We was going on dis hot date last munf for Auntie Lynne's birthday but was too icy then so went Friday instead. We go to Edgemoor Hotel, Bovey Tracey. Bit hexpensive, cording to Mummy, but twas for Auntie Lynne's birthday lunch so OK for special tweat. Mummy rang up & booked us table for 2 dogs & 2 Mummies in dog bar, table next to fire. Well me & Mummy arrived first...I was very 'cited. Jumped out of car and ran into garden (saw a squirrel there at Christmas Fair & just needed to check if it was still there...it wasn't). Had a walk round the garden and did some excellent zoomies on the lawn. Went to reception with Mummy & was shown to our table, lovely comfy seats, roaring fire, jar of gravy bones on the bar. Lady was very helpful & dog friendly. Told her we was waiting for Auntie Lynne & Scooby and as soon as Mummy saw their car the lady went outside to greet them and show them the way. Got very 'cited when Scooby came in. We did some, smooching, some snuggling & I gave him my best love. Lady took scoffs order for Mummies (we had gravy bones already). Then she said we could play off leads and she would shut bar door so we could have fun & relax together. Scoobs & I explored every inch of room & scampered about rugby tackling each other. When the human food arrived we sat very nicely by our mummies and helped them eat it. Lady got us a big bowl of fresh water too so we did some slurping. Another mummy came in with her elderly terrier. We didn't play with him but we didn't try to eat him either. We had wonderful time & would recommend dis hotel for any special occassion / night out / bar snack when coming home from Dartmoor / etc. It is open to non-residents. They positively encourage dogs & walkers (mud not a problem !). You can also stay there with your dog. They have special rooms which open onto doggy lawn at back (that's where the squirrel lives). You can take all your meals in the doggy bar, pupdogs and Mummies & Daddies all together. In the summer they also have a lovely garden with sooper seats outside and good sniffs too but in winter the log fire in the doggy bar is just perfect. Scoobs and I were very happy with our hot date.

After that we went for a big long walkies round Yarner Woods (it's only about a mile up the road). Had a lovely walkies & did lots of zooming with Scoobs. That's the end of my report. Hope you enjoyed it. Love Holly Hols, lick, lick, slurp, slurp XXXX

A Boat Ride to Meet Harry the Spaniel @spanielharry

So this morning the hoomans packed my bag and got me dressed to go on a wheelies ride, we drove for a bit (stopped to go to the bank so hooman girl cud pay fur our next camping adventure) and then got to a place called Kingswear; now I been heers before but we comed by train last time! . We parked the wheelies and walked down the hill towards the waterz where we stopped and I got admired by some other hoomans.

Then we had walk down a big metal thing like a bridge

When we got to the bottom we queued up to get on a BOAT!

I jumped on board and choosed a good place to stand to watch from

Then I asked the hooman on the boat fur a ticket to the uva side

When we got to the uva side we walked up the road past the park and waiting fur us wuz .... HARRY!!

Harry is a very faymus spangle, he wrote a booky called "Help, my dogs on twitter" you'll recognise him from when I interviewed him late last year when he told me about his booky and his favourite place for an adventure (what was the beach!).
So we did sniff each uva, and get fusses off each uvas hoomans. Harry did show an impressive greyhound lean spangle stylee and knock mah hooman girl ova in da mud wen her wuz fussing himself BOL

Harry couldnt stay to bark very long coz hims grandmas coming and his sisfur Maggie wuz waiting in their wheelies. But before him left we had a foto taken together and arranged to do beach zoomies together when the coldness goes away and the sun comes out which will be soopa! :)

In-Animal Objects - What are you scared of?

I had an email the other week from my friend Louise at Money Supermarket she was asking me for some input on a survey they were going to run. This is what she had to say :

Here at MoneySupermarket, we’re planning to conduct a pet survey to find out what pets are scared of and the sorts of strange things they love. Like, for example, my little dog Harvey absolutely loves balloons (your guess is as good as mine as to where the obsession has come from!) and would never be without his teddy

Any way of course I jumped at the chance to be involved in the survey and as many of you will know I have alot to say on the subject of fears.

So last week I got a follow up email from Louise with the link to the survey in. They were asking questions such as "what makes you jump?" and "how do you react when you come in to contact with something that scares you?" and "what strange objects do you like?" I did filling in the survey and I thought to share it with you too so you could give Money Supermarket your thoughts on the matter also.
