         <title>Thursday at Noon Concert Series</title>
         <description>&lt;p&gt;James McLean is one of Canada's most distinguished vocal artists, known for his compelling interpretation of the works of Bach, Mozart and Britten during an illustrious career on the operatic and concert stages of Europe. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He will perform 16 songs from Schubert's first great song cycle &lt;em&gt;Winterreise&lt;/em&gt;. Anna Ronai will accompany on piano. This is a free concert and everyone is welcome.&lt;/p&gt;

         <title>International Conference on Second-Language Pedagogies</title>
         <description>&lt;p&gt;The School of Languages and Literatures is hosting its first international conference on “Second-Language Pedagogies, New Technologies, and Learning Outcomes” Feb. 11 and 12. The event aims to provide a forum for sharing innovative theories, methodologies and technologies in second-language pedagogies. Presentations will be offered in English and in French.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Keynote speaker Richard Kern of the University of California at Berkeley will talk about “Technology and Language Teaching: Why the Medium Matters."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Other highlights include: Mirela Cherciov (Brock University) discussing "The Uses of C-test as a New In-class Evaluation Measure”; Noriko Yabuki-Soh (York University) on “The Use of Video-Conferencing in a Japanese Language Course”; Thiago Santos (University of São Paulo) on “Apprendre à argumenter en FLE dansune perspective socio-interactionniste”; and Kanstantsin Tsedryk (University of Waterloo) on “L’enseignement de langue en ligne: vers un cours plus interactif et efficace.”&lt;/p&gt;
