I now use them for some much.

I take them orally, of course!

I add one gel capsule to my oil that I use on my scalp after each wash.

I add one gel capsule to my spray bottle that I use almost everyday.

I add a capsule to my prepoos

I add a capsule to my conditioner. The conditioner I apply to my hair to detangle with in the shower.

One thing I do want to try is adding a capsule to my shampoo.

I have noticed that whenever I stop using the supplements (like I did this past week as an experiement) my shedding picks back up. This last wash I lost a not so good amount of hair due to shedding (they had the white bulb on the end). Now I'm starting back up with the garlic to see how my hair reacts.

Thickening, Moisturizing, and Conditioning

I have really been staying true to my regimen. I was recently getting lax when it came to hair care so now I'm revving it up.

For one, I have started to oil my scalp after every wash. Thanks to hairlicious. I have mixed castor oil, vitamin e oil, and one garlic pill contents. The next day after my hair dries I go trough and apply the mixture.

The garlic is for my shedding. I believe that my problem with my thinning hair is not from breakage but from shedding. I see no short hairs every, but I do see nothing but long strands with the buds on the end. I'm also taking the supplements orally.

Next, I am moisturizing smarter and better. When I'm in my dorm I moisturize and full baggy my hair.

And finally I have just discovered the joys of Hair One during yesterdays wash. Which went extremely pleasant. That shampoo/conditioner is amazing. It was extremely easy to detangle and I lost less than half of the amount of hair that I usually lose.

I plan on staying consistent, since that is key.

Repost - Better Hair Care Kit

Here I put together a list of things that everyone relaxed head should have to better take care of your hair. It was a bittersweet experience. My hair is growing, that I can see. However, it is also thinner this time around. I believe that the thinning is a result from a variety of things.

The bad perm I had November 09

The time since I last had a "good" touch up (6 months, since last August)

How lazy I get as my roots get thicker, when I should be stepping it up a notch.

There is another contribution to my thinning, and thats because of my stylist. The first thing she did when I sat in her chair was (Warning Rant coming) start combing through my hair. Then she had the nerve to tell me I'm shedding a lot. Of course my hair is coming out! You're combing through 6 months worth of new growth! And its not shedding hair, you're pulling it out of my scalp!(End Rant)

So because if of this there are a few things I'm going to do.

Start applying castor oil to my scalp after wash days as suggested by Hairlicious.

Don't go so long without a touch up. I will go about 10 weeks to 12 weeks at the most.

Be more centered on my strands at each wash and stick to a wash Schedule.

Other than that I'm loving my hair straight. I haven't seen it this way in a while and I've missed it. Here is the picture.

Amber's Bowtie Necklace Giveaway

I posted about a giveaway Amber was having before, now she is having another great giveaway. This is what I plan on doing to my hair. However, I'm still trying to figure out how long I want to make them. I don't want to be there all week braiding, but then I don't want to leave my hair loose in the braids.

Swagbucks!

I thought I would introduce you all to the incredible way to make some easy cash. There are a number of prizes you can cash them in for. My favorite for only 45 swagbucks is a $5 amazon giftcard. I usually earn enough points to cash out every 3 to 4 weeks. Just sign up using the link below.

Join Swagbucks Now!!

In total I have earned $20 of painless cash and I'm well on my way to earning another $5. I just add the money to my amazon account, which I then use in turn to order hair products that I can't buy in stores.

Win, Win.

Braiding Tutorial

I totally forgotten about this site, but this was one of the first braiding sites I every ran across years ago.

http://www.growafrohairlong.com/

Although the site's layout is hard to navigate, it contains a wealth of information on braiding and maintaining your hair.

Her method is known as the Crown & Glory Method. As a prepoo I did a hot oil treatment, which I haven't done in the longest time. I mixed a few oils I have laying around and warmed them up. I let that sit in my scalp for about 20 minutes.

I then shampooed with Creme of Nature Kiwi Shampoo. That was followed by 5 minutes of Aphogee Keretin Treatment.

A new thing I've started doing is detangling with a cheap conditioner before I even deep conditioner. So I did that this time with white rain coconut conditioner. I don't care to much for this conditioner. I used to use it years ago, and they've changed the formula for the worse since then.

I then deep conditioned with my newest purchase Silk Elements Cholesterol. I must say that this stuff is pretty good. I could just feel my head absorbing it as soon as I applied it to my strands. I let the conditioner sit for about 40 minutes and rinsed.

As for setting my hair, I used my Silken Child leave-in and let my hair hang dry with a diagonal part and a scarf to keep my edges under control. After about 20 minutes of airdrying I put my hair in a lowish bun.

My hair hasn't been this under control and frizz-free in a while. It is a lot of work dealing with all of my new growth.
I haven't taken a wet hair photo in a while.

Conditioner Purchases

I'm proud of myself. I haven't purchased any new hair products since last year, but at last I ran out of a few things (1) a moisturizing deep conditioner (2) cheapie conditioner. So I decided to go out and make a few purchases. I wasn't able to get what I wanted but I believe I bought some good products.

Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol Treatment

White Rain Coconut Conditioner

Hair One Cleansing Conditioner

(I just purchased the sample pack to give it a try. But I do know a thing or two about keeping your hair in good condition.

The following video made me cringe so much. The women sectioned off the smallest section of hair I have ever seen, kept pulling the section, and then put way too much hair on that section. I can see it now, after 2 weeks the clients hair is going to be crying to be let go.

Another Update

I will finally be getting a touch-up. It will take place two weeks from now during my Spring Break. I'm excited to finally be able to touch my scalp again.

What will I be doing to prepare? Well, I'm going to be sure to detangle extra carefully after each wash. Then I will do a protein treatment either this weekend or next. And finally I will wear my hair straightish the week that I will be getting the perm to assist the stylist in managing my hair.

What are my plans afterward? I'm going to wear my hair regular for the next month and a half, until the end of the semester. Then I plan on braiding it up for summer classes.

I will be braiding my hair myself, which I haven't done in about three years, into basic loose plaits. Hopefully this style will last me at least 1 and 1/2 months. My hair really needs a break.

Christmas Hair 09'

I know this is super late, but I finally got around to uploading the pictures from my camera. November 19 was my last touch-up, but that was a disaster. So my last lasting touch-up wasn't since August 15. So I am basically 6 months post. I plan on relaxing during spring break which is in a few weeks.

How am I coping with this bush?

Lots of low maintenance styles. I'm still wearing my hair out on a regular basis and my new growth is annoying, but it really isn't bothering me all that much. I'm sticking with braidouts and twistouts of course. At night I do two big plaits, lay my hair down with my spray mixture and a scarf and in the morning I have nice waves to play with.

I am in dire need of a serious clarifying wash. I've been bad and haven't done one in about two months. This is mainly do to the fact that I just purchased some baking soda today.

I also need to do a serious detangling before I get a touch-up, because I know if I don't my stylist won't hesitate to rip through my hair like I'm only 2 days post. However, detangling really isn't my strong suit, but I've been watching some videos and looking for different methods to proper detangling. Most people recommend detangling under the shower head with loads of conditioner so I'm probably going to give that a shot.

Sorry for the extra long post, but I haven't posted in a while and need to do a heavy update.

Amber is having a giveaway

Head on over to Amber's blog. At home theres always times when you don't see anyone besides your family. But on campus simply taking your trash out can lead into you running into friends. So what do you do about your hair?

I've found that having a few quick and simple styles to work with my hair however it is is a lifesaver. For example, when I'm in dire need for a wash I do a messy bun. When my new growth gets out of control I favor putting humps in the front.

There are ways to get around the awkward meeting with friends when your hair isn't right. Practice makes perfect. Play with your hair when it isn't at your best and find neat styles to use for exactly those situations.

French Braids

I really really really really want to learn how to french braid hair. There a number of things I would love to do with the skill.

Great for when I'm working out.

Can be done to be a cute alternative style

Cute alternative way to do a braid out.

Easy and Quick (once you learn how to do it)

So I need to start practicing. I tried once before it was really messy, but it did have to shape. Here is the video I used.

I like that its done on relaxed hair showing that it is very possible.

Castor Oil on My Edges

I have added another step to my nightly routine. I've decided to start applying castor oil to my edges nightly. This is being done as a preventative measure. Thin edges is a serious problem with my mother's side of the family. I'm hoping to break the cycle.

Castor Oil helps your new growth to grow in thicker. You can also use it on your eyelashes and eyebrows if you're having problems in those areas. I have personally used it on my eyelashes and have experienced thicker lashes. The only thing is it takes time, and you must stick with the applications.

The way I apply the oil is simple. I use a Q-tip and rub it on my edges. I also do the same with my eyelashes. Give it a try. You will be surprised by the results.

Roc Exfoliating Cleanser

Roc Exfoliating Cleanser

Being only 19 I don't really have to worry about wrinkles right now. So it doesn't make much sense for me to use a wrinkle-targeting cleanser.

However, I am in love with this cleanser. It took a while for me to fall for it, the benefits of this product are long-term, but when I did I fell hard.

How I Use It: Now, I use it nightly in the shower its extremely gentle. I use it on my face and neck and leave it while I bath.

Pros: When I rinse my skin feels extremely clean and soft but not dry.

Cons: It wish it moisturized while it cleansed.

Dos and Donts of Winter

Don't let the winter weather dampen you hair care spirits. Here are dos and donts to help you beat the chill and protect your hair from the weather.

Don't leave the house with wet hair. The weather can literally freeze your hair and cause serious breakage.

Don't use water-based moisturizers. Look for a creamier moisturizer whose first few ingredients don't include water. I use a creamy deep conditioner as a moisturizer during these months.

Don't wear you hair out when rocking wool and cotton sweaters or scarves. If you must make sure to protect those ends to minimize the breakage.

Do be sure to deep condition weekly. This step is already important, but during these months it is even more dire.

Do lessen the number of washes you do. Try to prolong your wash days by using smaller amounts of moisturizers and being sure to prepare you hair properly for bed.

Do get your use out of protective styles. Protective styles will ensure your hair is protected from the elements.

Do try and keep your ends protected no matter what style you choose. During the winter the wind will be brutal on your ends (they being the oldest part of your hair) and you want to protect them in order to retain length.

Feel Like Straighter Hair?

I found a very interesting article. I heard a while back that a group of scientists discovered the gene that determines how you hair will be, and now they are making a pill that can alter your hair.

Science never ceases to amaze me. I'm still around. I've just been extremely occupied lately with finals. I've been spending 8+ hours in the library everyday for the past week. So you can imagine how little I've thought of my blogs.

Quick Update: I've been experimenting with cowashing more often. This was brought on by a big mistake of pre-pooing overnight with an Ors Replenishing Pak. The pre-poo made my hair gooey because the product wouldn't rinse out. It took 2 days of shampooing and two co-washes to get it out. I still feel certain spots that have product in it, but overall I feel my hair has benefitted.

Most likely I will be getting a perm before I return to school for Spring semester. So I will only be 6 weeks post. So to help my hair prepare for this I won't be using any flat irons or blowdryers between perms.

This past week I've just been drying in two braids twisted into a bun and wearing the curls in a ponytail or out. So things have been pretty simple simply because I don't have time.

It was a long update, but it was long overdue.

Regimen Revamp

I'm in desperate need of a revamped regimen, or at least to reanalyze how I treat my hair. At this point of my journey I should have been further than I am now.

I believe the main culprit in this set back is that I'm not retaining hair. Yes, my hair is growing. Yes, it is healthy. However I'm not treating it like I should so its not staying where it belongs...on my head.

So I'm going to attempt to retain as much growth as possible this time around since I have a fresh relaxer to start off with.

Fresh Relaxer

I just got a relaxer last night after 13 weeks of a stretch. The stylist I went to, I probably won't go to again. The relaxer didn't take well. I'm not sure if it was because it was for Sensitive Scalp or because she didn't leave it on long enough. My new growth is not completely straightened. The curl is less kinky but I won't be able to go without a relaxer as long this time around.

Here are my pictures.
