Join Campus Recreation on Wednesday, February 1st from 12:00pm-1:00pm in MWC 2420 for our Well Beeing Wednesday seminar on "The ABC's of Getting your Z's".

Did you know that lack of sleep can lead to headaches, slower metabolism, and a lack of energy? This seminar will teach you the imporatnce of sleep and give you some strategies on how to get more sleep and still balance everything else going on in your life.

As always, this seminar is FREE to UW-Superior Faculty & Staff.

SOAP's Spring Break Adventure

Looking for an exciting way to spend spring break? Look no further! The Superior Outdoor Adventure Program will be heading south from Saturday, March 17, to Sunday, March 25, to canoe the Buffalo National River in Arkansas.

During the week our group will cover over 45 miles. We'll have opportunities to explore old farmsteads, play in waterfalls, and relax in swimming holes.

SOAP will provide transportation, food, all paddling/group gear and an experienced trip leader at the low price of $375 for Superior Benefit Friends, or $450 for any other UW-Superiors student. What a steal!

There are 10 spots available. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis, so get over to the MWC Welcome Desk and sign up.

There are also two alternate spots; an alternate will have the change to go if another person is removed from the list.

A 50 percent non-refundable deposit is required at sign up, which will run through early March.

In addition, there is a fundraising opportunity on Saturday, February 4th at Wessman Arena. Any interested participant will receive a discount on their trip.

SOAP's Full Moon Paddle

With finals quickly approaching, SOAP is offering a trip that will take your mind off all the stresses of school.

Join us on Monday May 7th at 7:00 p.m. to explore the local waters by moonlight.

Watch as the city lights come on, make a wish on a falling star and get to know other nature loving students all for $10!

This is one of SOAP's best trips and it usually fills up, so get over to the MWC and sign up a.s.a.p.

Canoe the Brule with SOAP!

Nothing beats an afternoon canoeing on the Brule, especially after a long winter.

Join SOAP on May 5th to shake off some of the winter blues and get geared up for summer by spending an entire day of adventure on the Brule.

Canoes, paddles, lunch, and transportation will all be provided.

SOAP's Cardboard Sled Competition

SOAP likes to use cardboard for its most obvious purpose, like creating super speed sleds of course!

Come join us on March 3rd for our second annual Cardboard Sled building competition to test your skills or just for a good laugh! All participants will receive their own portion of cardboard and rolls of duct tape for building.

The competition will take place at Mont Du Lac ski resort from 1:00-6:00 p.m. with transportation provided.

Just $10 will be all you need for an afternoon of fun!

North Shore Adventure Trip

Join the Superior Outdoor Adventure Program (SOAP) for a winter adventure trip up the North Shore.

Join us on Saturday, February 11, as we visit Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, the Superior Hiking Trail, and end our adventure at the world-famous Betty's Pies!

The cost is only $15 for anyone! The cost covers transport and gear, but you'll want to bring money for lunch and pie.

The trip departs Saturday from MWC 1438 (the SOAP office) at 9 a.m. and will return by 5 p.m.

Full Moon Snowshoe

Want to channel your inner werewolf? Or perhaps you just find the moon pretty? Either way, SOAP is offering you a unique opportunity to join others under the full-moon -- on snowshoes!

Join SOAP at 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, for a snowshoe hike lit by mother-nature herself. This event is FREE, fully supplied, and loaded with fun to help shake off some of those winter blues.

Sign up at the MWC Welcome Desk by Monday, Feb. 6, at 10 p.m. to ensure your spot.

We hope you join us for snowshoeing, hiking, and some occasional howling at the moon.

Ice climbing adventure

Due to the lack of Ice this winter, we are forced to rescheudle the Ice Climbing event. We have reschuduled the event for Sunday February 19. We'll join our friends from the College of St. Scholastica for this trip and head to Sandstone, MN to take advantage of some farmed ice.

Dogsledding adventure

Have you ever had dreams filled with visions of "Balto" or "Iron Will" moments? Now is your chance to make your dreams come true by signing yourself up for SOAP's second annual dogsledding adventure on February 5!

For a modest fee of $75 you will learn the ins and outs of dogsledding and get the chance to take a team through the forests of Minnesota. The day will wrap up with a horse-drawn sleigh ride.

This is an opportunity that is not easy to come by and is offered at this special price to SOAP, so act fast and sign up at the Marcovich Wellness Center Welcome Desk before Wednesday, February 1, at 10 p.m..

SOAP kayak lessons

Where can get a predictable climate, warm water temperatures, and a guide, all for an affordable price? The UW-Superior pool, of course!

On February 15, March 1, March 13, April 4 and April 18 you are invited to kayak with SOAP in the Marcovich Wellness Center Pool from 7 to 9 p.m.

Attend just one or all of these lessons to enhance your kayaking knowledge and practice your skills with experienced guides!

Also, if you are interested in renting kayaks during the summer season, you must be kayak certified, which can be completed during the lessons.

Each session is Free for Superior Benefits holders and $10 for all others .

SOAP's Slackline Clinic

We have all seen those guys who tight rope across the Grand Canyon or between two building in New York City, and we think to ourselves, "They're crazy!"

Well have you seen folks around campus slacklining between trees? Not quite as insane and not that hard to pick up.

Join SOAP on Thursday, January 26, at 5 p.m. in the Marcovich Wellness Center for a FREE slackline clinic.

This is your chance to learn what slacklining is, to learn a few tips and to practice with some of UW-Superior's best!
