A group of several United Nations members are putting their efforts to add chrysotile variety of asbestos to the world’s list of most hazardous substances. Canadian asbestos industry is the biggest loser if at all this happens. The Canadian asbestos industry supports several hundred workers.

Most of the asbestos from this industry is exported to the developing nations around the world where there are no proper regulations around handling on asbestos. Many are concerned that lack of regulations and inexperience in handling the asbestos material may expose many people to mesothelioma cancer in those nations.

Mesothelioma cancer is caused as a result of asbestos exposure. Asbestos exposure also causes lung cancer and asbestosis. The symptoms of this cancer are very subtle and cannot be diagnosed until the disease is severe. It takes years for this cancer to develop in a person exposed to asbestos and is not something that is imminent.
Many lawsuits have been filed around the world and especially in US there are hundreds of cases where the employers where sued for not informing the employees about the risks of asbestos exposure.

My lovely gift from Pamela.

I had a card left by the postie on Saturday, even though I was indoors, which said I needed to pick up a parcel he tried to deliver.

I got it and opened it, how choked was I to find a lovely gift from a lady in America. Pamela lost her mother, Becky, last year. She adored her mother so much. She sent me a lovely butterfly and a card with a beautiful dragonfly necklace.

I got home to find another card left by the postie so it is back again tomorrow to pick up Siobhan's parcel.

I dragged myself into the 21st century today, I got myself an iPad!

I am clueless with technology, thank goodness for Siobhan, she helps me so much with it all and is very patient with me.

I also got myself a dictaphone so I can start writing my book. This one has a program on a disc that will type it too....wow!!! I shall see how I go, I am looking forward to starting the first chapter : )

Still no snow in Plymouth, it is cold and dry, I don't mind the snow, just not too keen on the ice. If it does happen, we have enough in the cupboards to keep us going for a few days.

I was all geared up to see Kieran in his school play today. He was acting in the elves and the shoe maker workshop with the help of Plymouth Theatre Royal.

I got to school, signed in and was looking forward to seeing him when I was handed a program. I looked all over it, my Bean's name was not on it. I asked a teacher who went to find out why and she returned telling me that Kieran was not in it. I felt so sad inside. It turns out that the class didn't send him to his drama classes as they receive an email detailing when he would need to be free.

Kieran took it very well, he was disappointed but as the teacher said, it would be unfair to throw him in the deep end and embarrass him. I really look forward to the things he does at school. They are even more special now so missing this one was not a happy occasion.

After I left school I went onto Saltram as a friend had sent a lovely picture of snowdrops. I got there to find the meso tree had snowdrops at the base. I left some flowers there in memory of Ronny, my lovely friend who fell asleep in October and for Keith who fell asleep recently. Both are very brave warriors who I admire every day.

Kieran is with his dad over the weekend and is now on half term from school. I am looking forward to our trip to London next week, I am taking him on the London eye. It is going to be a very special trip : )

I have been playing about with an app I found on facebook. My grumpy fairy friend made one and I like it so much I thought I would make my own........ Take that Mesothelioma!!!!!!

The weekend has been very quiet. Kieran went to his dads Friday and came back on Sunday. I relaxed at home, not getting dressed till 11am....disgraceful : )

This week has a pretty full calendar, Tuedsay I am off to Tavistock with my friend Tina. She is about to become a grandma for the first time, how exciting!!

Wednesday is result day...gulp...... Not one of my favourites, I get the result of my CT scan and will discuss my treatment options. I am hoping I will escape the CT blues but I doubt I will.

Thursday Kieran and I are off to london. I am taking him on the London eye on Friday, something he said he would love to do so we are doing it!

Back home on Saturday and then Kieran back to school next week.

Should be a photo filled blog over the next few days : )

Just had message from Linda Reinstein who is in Italy. Workers from plants in Italy had been exposed to asbestos and we were all waiting to hear what the outcome would be.

A little girl, born this morning, weighing in at 7lb 2oz. Mum and baby are doing fine and Tina's son, Adam is one happy man this morning. What a way to start the day : )

Tina and I had a lovely afternoon in Tavistock, lunch and an amble round the shops. A big step for Kieran too, not only did he get the bus into town on his own yesterday (I bought him a new pair of shoes, size 7 1/2 feet!!!) He also had his first time being at home on his own.... no longer a baby, he is growing up so fast. He was 10 when I started this blog, he is now a handsome, moustached 15 years old is glued to his xbox so I knew he wouldn't go far : )

I have got results day tomorrow so am hoping all this happiness spreads into tomorrow.

I saw my friends Chrissy and Jayne last night. Chrissy had the straiteners handy and straightened my curly locks. I love it, reminded me of one of my favourite people, Sid Vicious and the hair style he had.

The sun is shining on Plymouth this morning. I have my CT scan results this afternoon, 2:40pm. Siobhan, as always, will be by my side. I will find out if Theo has moved at all or if he has been a typical lazy man and sat on the sofa watching TV. He must be the only male I want to stay as a couch potato : )

I will also find out if the TOF is closed. I have been so much better TOF wise. No coughing while I am drinking and eating and no chest infection (Hope this isn't famous last words) for months.

Today is also Keith's celebration day, that is the sadness mentioned in the title. Such a lovely man who, like evey other meso warrior, didn't want to leave his family. Thoughts and strength are sent to Judith, Lise and family as they celebrate Keith's life and give him a day to be proud of. x x

I am going to visit the meso tree today and remeber Keith here as I am unable to get to his place of rest. x x

I had a lovely meal yesterday with Richard from the National Asbestos Helpline. We joined George and his wife Ann at Leandra's, a little place in Plymouth city centre.

It was good to see George looking so well, he has mesothelioma, we call him the Coronel at the meetings as he eats apricot kernels. He is such a lovely man. Ann, is gorgoes wife, gave me a guardian angel last night, what a lovely thought

This morning I got up and got ready for my CT scan. Kieran was up as well, no calling him this morning. He is enjoying his travel training. I am still a little dubious about him going out on his own but at the moment he has someone with him so I am coping well : )

I got into my little Halo car, she was all frozen up so had to have her wind screen de iced. I should have put her in her garage, I will do that today as it is so cold.

I arrived at the hospital in time and was led to the lorry in the car park which holds the CT machine. The girls are wonderful, they make me feel so at ease. They kindly said that they would humour me and take some pictures. It is a great record of my journey.

I came home and had breakfast as I didn't have any this morning as I wasn't sure if I was having the drinky dye or not. I found out that I could have had breakfats and a coffee as this was the chest and abdomnal scan. Don't eat when it is the chest, abdomen and pelvis scan.

I don't mind the scanner as it has Philips written across the top of it, my dad's name was Philip, I feel like he is looking over me every time I got through the "polo Mint".

The scanner is a huge ring like machine which reminds me of a polo mint.

I am now waiting for Richard to pick me up and take me to the meso meeting which is at 11:30am in the mustard tree, Derriford.

I went to Saltram before I went for my appointment to leave some flowers for Keith from all the warriors.

Judith, Keith's wife had said she hoped she would see a black bird after the ceremony.

Siobhan, David ( her BF) and I went to have lunch, I left them to look around the shop and carried on to the tree. I left the flowers and went back to my car to put the rubbish in there. What should land down right beside me but a black bird. It stayed for a few minutes before flying of, I was moving around to get my camera and managed to get some pictures to show Judith and Lise.

This made me feel so happy and put me in such a good mood for my appointment this afternoon.

Kieran and I set off at around 8:15 to get our train. I got a bit of a scare first of all as the neighbours car was parked in front of my garage. All was ok when it was politely removed with lots of apologies, no harm done. We made the train in plenty of time. We had a good journey, Kieran on his iPad playing family fortunes and asking me questions, it passed the time.

We got to London at about 12:30pm, got Kieran some head phones and then made our way to the taxi rank to get a cab to the hotel.

We got in there, dropped our bags and then had a knock on the door, it was Linda from America, such a lovely lady who works so hard for her organisation ADAO.

We chatted and laughed and then went off to a meeting. Kieran came too and sat in a room across from us, iPad in tow : )

The meeting was great, we came out and then made our way around the sites. Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Queenie was in, and Big Ben. Pictures, laughter and fun, it was all smiles. Linda talked about how she had been working her "fanny"off. I told her the meaning of "fanny" in the UK, red faces all round, not her fault, it gets lost in translation.

We had so much fun that Linda forgot about her other meeting, an interview, as we were returning to the hotel ....... scrub are arrangements to go for something to eat : )

Kieran and I settled in our room while Linda did her interview.

When she came back, we went out to eat, such a lovely meal. Walking back Linda was horrified to see an enormous eagle on top of the US embassy building, She asked whos idea it would have been to put it there, I reminded her that the Americans do every thing big : )

We are all settled in our hotel rooms now and ready for tomorrows fun.

Linda and I outside West Minster Abbey yesterday.

Kieran and I had a lovely day again. We went on the London eye this morning, he loved it. We did the 4D experience as well. It was a pleasure to spend time with him. We were due to meet Chris, Ronny's son after the ride, while we were sitting who should turn up but Robert, Ronny's husband. How wonderful, I was so surprised. We chatted and went to a little cafe. Chris and Robert are wonderful, so caring and loving. Ronny lives on through them so much. I could see the love and respect they have for each other, such a lovely family.

After we said goodbye, Kieran and I made our way back to the hotel. We met up with Linda, Christine and Mark. They are all remarkable people who are so dedicated in their fight to get awareness and education out in the public domain. I was so impressed with them all.

It was a long day, I was due to meet my cousin but I will do that tomorrow before we leave.

Kieran and I had breakfast, checked out and made our way to Paddington station. We were going to meet my cousin, such a shame, there was a fire on the underground and she couldn't get to us. We have said we will meet up in June when she is down south for a break.

We had lunch in the station and Kieran watched the trains go in and out, off to take all the Commuters to their destinations. One of Kieran's favourite things to do is to go to a station and train watch. This mad it even easier to pass the time. I have to say he has been an abosolute pleasure to be with. Even though there have been hour long meetings, he has been patient and thoughtful all the way through, Having an iPad probably helps, but seriously, thank you Bean for all your support over these past few days.

We had to change at Tiverton to get to Plymouth, we went from the train to a coach to continue our journey. There were rail works so Plymouth was shut down.

We got home around 4:30pm and relaxed before I got ready to go out with the girls. Such a wonderful memory, I would like to think the guardian angel from George and Ann last week had something to do with it : )

Well what a fun time I had after picking my car up from Chrissies house! Jayne and I got in my car, no problems starting her. We got to Jayne's, she went off in doors and then what happens???

Pfftttt..... engine stops at the bottom of Jayne's road.

Typical, it is 2:30 am in the morning, freezing cold and Halo (My car) has decided she doesn't want to play.

I rang Jayne as I know she would have told me off if I hadn't and being the master of arms in the Navy, I don't want to argue with her : )

The lovely girl came up, in her high heels still, and looked over what had happened, the battery was completely flat.

Jayne went home, got her flat shoes on while I phoned the RAC to tell them of my plight. Jayne brought back a blanket, flask of tea, and tin of biscuits (Biscwits in Jayne's language) and we then snuggled up in my car and waited for the RAC to get back in touch.

She then remembered she had a jump starter at home so we thought we should give it a try. Off she goes again and comes back with the leads. We got Halo started, brilliant, we thought, until we turned her light on.... bluegh....nothing. I was going nowhere till rescue got here.

In the mean time, I am now bursting to go for a wee, Jayne sat in the car while I made my way back to her place. When I was leaving, at aroung 3:35am, the phone went, rescue is on the way..... hooray.... he would be with us in about 10-15 minutes.

I got back to the car just as he was approaching.

The guy was such a helpful person, he got Halo started, loaded her up on his truck, I said good bye to super Jayne and suoer break donw man towed us home. At 4:20am, I got in the door, I am now ready for my bed and will be snuggling up with mu electric blanket and my kitty : )

Thank you so much Jayne and to the very, very nice man who came to my rescue.... your a knight in shining armour....thank you!!!

I have just got out of my appointment with Dr D. Theo, my little couch potato meso is STABLE!!!

Dr D thinks Prof's treatment has kicked in. He doesn't want to do any treatment as there is no change and is happy for me to go to the USA to pick an award.

The TOF is also good, looks like it is sealed, but not certain yet, only time will tell but as I have had 2 colds and not one chest infection for months, that is a good sign. I am eating and drinking without coughing now.

I am so pleased. How happy can one person be : )

Looks like I have Easter to look forward to and of course my trip to pick up the Alan Reinstein award, named after Linda's husband who sadly lost his life to mesothelioma.

In most cases we need the title. However, if you don’t have title you can apply for a duplicate title before you donate. Just visit the Texas Department of Motor Vehicle internet site to get the forms to donate without a title: Texas Motor Vehicle Department

How do I process a release that removes me from liability once I donate my vehicle in the state of Texas?

Just find form VTR-346 (which you can find here or by clicking “form VTR-346” back there) and submit it to Texas Dept of Motor Vehicle Transportation. What types of vehicles require a title in Texas?

Snowmobiles do NOT require a title in Texas.

Where do I sign the title before donating my car in Texas?

In order to transfer a title, the taxpayer who is getting the donation needs to sign the release on the title and fill out the assignment to the new owner which in this case will be one of the charities on the left or top of this page. If the front of the title has an “and” conjuction (i.e. there is more than one owner as is the case when it’s a husband and wife, then each and ALL owners need to release title by signing. If you have an “OR” conjunction on your title, then only one owner needs to release title by signing. No, the plates do not need to be returned to the Texas Department of Transportation.

I was up bright and early this morning, a very crisp day, so cold outside but thankfully, no snow. I had a shower and got dressed, preened my beautiful curly locks before getting Kieran's lunch ready and getting him out of bed. He is travel training this morning, his first one in the morning.

He got up, got himself dressed and had his breakfast, 2 crumpets and a warm orange juice drink.

I packed a small case just incase I was staying in hospital overnight and then went on my way. The sun was shining and the sky was so blue, a beautiful spring day, I appreciate seeing these things so much now, much more than I ever did and especially when I here of another warrior who has fought a valiant battle and fallen asleep.

The train journey was good, only issue I had was I couldn't have my morning cup of decaf coffee as I am nil by mouth, I miss that so much, and isn't it just typical, I was asked 3-4 times this morning if I wanted refreshments.

I arrived early at the hospital, about 10 am and was taken to my room. All very quick today, talked to the amazing and wonderful Dr TOF who has believed in me from the start. It helps so much when you not only have a Dr who knows his job but one that listens too.

I met the anesthetist and was aware of all the complications that could happen.

I got on my hospital gown and a fabulous pair of hospital knickers, my super knickers : )

I was trollied done to theatre and had the canular put in my wrist, and then waited for the experience I strangely enjoy so much, drifting off to sleep. Am I alone with this? No nerves, maybe it is trust as the team are so good.

I woke up to a nurse saying my name, "Hello Mrs Brewer, all done" and seeing the face of the fabulous Dr TOF who explained what he had seen and what he did.

I had 2 strictures which are narrowings in the oesophagus and the clip had been covered with oesophageal tissue, just like the last one. The TOF was a little pin prick which is probably why I have not had chest infections like I had before. Dr TOF put 2 small clips on the TOF and is hoping it will close up for good.

All in all, a really good day, maybe the knickers did help : )

I am staying in over night and going back to Plymouth tomorrow. I hope Kieran can get up for school tomorrow, no doubt there will be a call from mum to make sure.

Thank you so much Dr TOF, I hope this procedure helps others, especially the children born with my type. So much easier than a major op.

Keith Turnbull fought a valiant battle after being diagnosed with mesothelioma. I met him through his wife, Judith and daughter , Lise, on facebook.

We have been on a journey together with other warriors since 2008. Keith had much more than mesothelioma to deal with and met it all with a smile and a determination to stay with his family as long as he could. He made goals last year to see Christmas, new year and his grand daughters birthday.

He fought so hard with dignity and courage.

Good night dear friend, wrap your angel arms around your family who are in so much pain from your loss. Give them the strength they need to start a life with out you.

I hope I can be as admirable as you when it is my turn x x x x

I am seeing Dr TOF tomorrow for my dilation (Stretch the oesophagus) and removal of the last clip he put in. I have added a picture. To try and explain it is hard but here goes, the lungs are looking good, so much better than when I was diagnosed.

The oesophagus and windpipe are still connected, there is a small gap between them and this is what Dr TOF is trying to close.

There is also the clip that is sometimes obstructing anything I eat or drink, he is going to remove that.

I will have a CT scan next week and it will hopefully show that obstruction has gone.

Since having this done, I have been drinking and eating well and had no chest infections. That is so very rare for me.

I am off out to get the train for 8:30 tomorrow morning, it is going to be cold, if it has to snow, can it please wait till I get to my warm and cosy hospital bed. If I am trapped there I will have meals made and will be relaxing for a bit : )

Time to catch up.

Kieran and I enjoyed a belated Birthday night out with Rich and Kerri as it was her birthday on Wednesday.

A real Irish Guinness, At last!!!!

Kieran and I arrived home late last night. Our plane was supposed to leave at 6:30pm but was delayed for an hour. How glad was I that I had booked a transport car and what great service they provided.

We got home around 11pm after a smooth journey from Belfast to Plymouth.

It was so lovely seeing Rich again, we all love him so much and miss him even more. I was so pleased to see that he had a little family of his own, his lady, Kerri, is a sweet girl, so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. She is a beautiful person inside and out.

Her girls are charming, they made us smile every day. I left Belfast happy that my boy was happy and settled.

Kerri's Sister, Evelyn, has also been wonderful, She picked Kierana nd I up from the airport and took us back there when we were leaving, such lovely girls who I know will welcome my son into their family with open arms.

I was so pleased to see Siobhan, David and the cats. Stork have pestered her so much while we were away, as soon as I got in the door, he stuck beside me, not leaving me at all. He had his usual cuddles this morning, I have missed that.

Amber, on the other hand, only loves me for treats, other times she whines and moans about having a cuddle.

It is good to be home, how I wish Rich only lived up the road so I could see him anytime. I am sure there will be more trips to Ireland in the future.

Kieran was brilliant at getting to school this morning even after having a late night, Well done Bean.

Now back to normality, CT scan on the 8th February, See Dr D on the 15th and discuss chemo and what to do next and this week, off to see Dr TOF and having a dilatation on Thursday.
