The CANIDAE Off Road Racing Trophy Truck team will compete at the Best in the Desert Blue Water race in Parker, Arizona this October 13th through 16th. Recently, at the Vegas to Reno race, the CANIDAE Team drove hard and powered through the rugged terrain to achieve a strong 5th in their class, only 21 seconds off 4th place, and only 7 minutes shy of a podium finish. At the end of the Vegas to Reno race, CANIDAE Racing driver Scott Whipple said, "What an awesome day. We have the best crew who worked together as a team flawlessly." Whipple's comment capped off one of the best performances the team has turned in since entering the Trophy Truck class.

At this next race, the team will take on the challenge of a 26 mile loop course near the Blue Water Resort and Casino in Parker. This is a 3 lap race repeating each day of that weekend for a total of 146 miles for the Trophy Truck class entrants. Racers will take on the famous Parker Python, a rough section of jumps during the third and final lap of each day as spectators cheer them on. Combined results from both days determine the winners.

LIVE BLOGGING ANNOUNCEMENT: Race fans can follow the CANIDAE team’s progress before and during the Blue Water Desert Challenge race by visiting www.canidaeracing.com for photos and reports direct from the team.
Sheep Lane in Tooele, across from Miller Motorsports Park. The race will take place on a 7-mile desert-racing course constructed specifically for this event and will provide spectators with an excellent view of all the action and access to the drivers for autographs... The CANIDAE Off Road Racing team qualified in 34th place out of more than 270 entries at this year's Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno offroad race. The 34th place starting position put them 19th off the starting line in their Trophy Truck class. Driving hard and powering through the rugged terrain, co-drivers Scott Whipple and Scott Gailey kept pushing the truck throughout the race to finish a strong 5th in their class, only 21 seconds off 4th place, and only 7 minutes shy of a podium finish. The Vegas to Reno race is over 500 miles long and the CANIDAE Team turned in a 10 hour, 19 minute and 10 second time on course.

The event was blogged live at the team's website and Facebook fan page and attracted more visits and comments then any other race in the team's history. "Reports and pictures kept coming in from CANIDAE as we watched the live tracking at Best in the Desert. We saw them making their way forward through the pack, doing better and better as the race went on. They even lost a cylinder part way through and just kept right on making great time and passing other teams. It was exciting and we're all really happy for the crew," said Marlon Coffman, long time supporter... When the CANIDAE Pet Foods Off Road team decided to compete in the Trophy Truck class, they built their tough-as-nails truck with one track in mind... Baja! The Tecate SCORE Baja 500 is a magical place where legends are made and hearts are broken, along with expensive machinery.

The 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500, the second-oldest desert race in the world, will take Team CANIDAE over 500 miles of the roughest terrain that Baja has to offer this coming June 4th. Starting in Ensenada, Mexico the course will run through scenic country then down to the Valley de Trinidad where temperatures can reach 115 degrees. Things begin to cool down as they head toward the Pacific Ocean and then back to Ensenada. Team CANIDAE will have to battle more than 40 other Trophy Trucks as well as Mother Nature and Baja itself.

The CANIDAE Racing Team is ready to take on the Best in the Desert Bilek Racing Silver State "300" in Nevada, having re-built their 800 HP 454 CI Dougan powered Trophy Truck after last month's Mint 400 race.

The CANIDAE Racing Team was near the front of the pack for the Mint 400 race near Las Vegas in March. Unofficial reports showed the CANIDAE team in 5th place at the end of lap one of this grueling four lap race. However, the team suffered a setback during lap two when driver Scott Whipple and co-driver Johnny Stroschein pushed the truck a little too hard and got bit on the famous qualifying jump and rolled the truck several times. Although attempts were made to repair the truck, getting it back on the course unfortunately wasn’t possible.

Now ready to take on the famous BitD Silver State "300", Team CANIDAE is prepared to battle with hundreds of competitors in their attempt to reach the podium. The race is comprised of one 300 mile loop and has some of the most scenic country racers may ever see all in the great high desert of Eastern Nevada.

The course will have a mixture of high-desert mountains, sand-washes, and panoramic views that will make racers want to stop their race vehicle and just take it all in. Teams will race through the Pahroc Summit area where they will see unbelievable rock formations, the Dalamar Valley, where the ghost town of Dalamar was located and where gold was discovered in 1890, the Cathedral Gorge area and much more.

Race headquarters will be in the exciting city of Las Vegas, at the Aliante Station Hotel & Casino, close to US-95 and I-15. Registration, Tech Inspection and Contingency will be held on Friday, April 29, and the race will take place on Saturday, April 30. The start line is in Alamo and the finish line will be south of the Alamo area.

Race fans can visit www.canidaeracing.com to follow the CANIDAE Trophy Truck Team's progress before, during and after the race with live reports and photos coming in from the field. Every vote counts. Click here to offer your support.

In 1972, as the dragsters had gone rear-engine, Big Jim Dunn thought why not a Funny Car? He went on to win what is still the only rear-engine victory at a NHRA national event at the 1972 Supernationals at Ontario Motor Speedway in California with his sometimes temperamental Barracuda. Please vote for his achievement as one of the NHRA's 60 Greatest Moments.

The CANIDAE Racing Team, in their newly redesigned 2011 Trophy Truck, is ready to take on the famous SNORE Mint 400 this March 26th in Nevada. Known as the "Great American Desert Race" the Mint was created in 1968 and instantly became one of the most famous off-road races in history.

Last year at the Mint was the team’s best performance of the season with a Trick Truck 7th place finish. The team is looking forward to trying to better last year’s awesome finish.

Through the efforts of the seasoned CANIDAE crew, the team's 800 HP 454 CI Dougan powered Trophy Truck is in "mint" condition, ready to take on this historic event. Coming off a hard-fought finish in the Parker 425 Best in the Desert race in Arizona last month, this team is eager to surpass last year's excellent performance.

Race fans can visit www.canidaeracing.com to follow the CANIDAE Trophy Truck Team's progress before, during and after the race with live reports and photos coming in from the field. Fans can also follow the team progress in real-time by visiting www.ionearth.com. By clicking on the “Race Tracking” tab on the main page, one can then click directly onto the CANIDAE Racing tracking page where fans will see the speed and position of the race truck during the race. Don’t miss a second of the action.

Thursday night, March 24th will officially kick off the Mint 400 with a huge FanFest party on Freemont Street in Las Vegas starting at 6:00PM. The CANIDAE race truck will be on display with team drivers Scott Whipple and Scott Gailey signing autographs along with other drivers. The FanFest party is free, so all race fans are invited to come down and hang out with the CANIDAE Team. Tech Inspection and Contingency takes place Friday on Freemont Street, the day before the race.

Saturday morning at 7:00AM is when all teams get down to business. As the trucks and cars take the green flag for the first of four laps for the 2011 Mint 400, hundreds of thousands of race fans will watch the race from several designated “spectator areas” around the roughly 100 mile loop. These areas are free of charge and will offer a great vantage point to watch these amazing vehicles traverse the rough Nevada desert at incredible speeds. Come and witness this spectacle for yourself.

Next up for Team CANIDAE is the famous Best in the Desert Bilek Racing Silver State "300" this April 29th through May 1st.

CANIDAE Racing would not be able to compete at this level if not for the support of their sponsors including CANIDAE Pet Foods, Lucas Oil, BFGoodrich Tires, Magnaflow, KC HiLites, Torco Race Fuels, Tap It Brewing Co., JE Pistons, Fox Race Shox, Geiser Bros., K&N Air Filters, Racepak Data Systems, CalTex Freight, McKenzies, Specialty Fasteners, XRP Hoses and Fittings, Norco Tires, and RSP Shock Prep.

Find CANIDAE Retailers Near You!

CANIDAE Racing will begin the 2011 Best in the Desert racing series at the season kick off, the famed Parker 425. Held on the banks of the beautiful Colorado River in Parker, Arizona, this race is always extremely popular with competitors and spectators alike. This year will produce record entries of more than 30 teams in the elite Trick Truck (aka Trophy Truck) class and almost 300 other cars and trucks in 20 different classes.

After the racers qualify for starting positions on a special 7 mile track on Thursday, February 3rd, the race will begin on Saturday morning and consist of three 142-mile laps in the brutal Arizona desert. At the end of each lap, the contestants will race through the “Parker Python,” an 8 mile course littered with jumps and bumps which will also be the main pit section. The CANIDAE Racing team returns this year after being close to a top 3 finish last year, only to have fatal motor issues on the last lap. To ensure the team does not have the same issues this year, CANIDAE Racing has installed an 800 HP 454 CI Dougan small block Chevy.

If you cannot make it to the Parker 425, there are several ways to keep track of the CANIDAE Racing team as they strive for the podium. You can get up-to-date information on the team at www.canidaeracing.com during the race as they send in live reports and photos from the field. Marlon Coffman was the winning bidder in an auction to benefit Justin Imhof who's recovering from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash during the 2010 Baja 1000. The winner got to ride shotgun alongside Team CANIDAE racing driver Scott Whipple during the 2011 Laughlin Leap. Thousands of dollars were raised for the ImHof family, and everyone (especially Marlon!) had a great time.
Headquarters for Justin ImHof Charity Auction

Armed with their new custom built 800 HP 454 CI Dougan small block Chevy powerplant, the CANIDAE Racing team is ready to take on their first offroad race of the 2011 season, the 17th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge race in Laughlin, Nevada on January 14, 2011.

This unique, spectator friendly event promises to thrill fans not only during the race, but also at the famous Laughlin Leap beforehand. This year CANIDAE Racing will have a special passenger inside the race truck for this pre-race jump competition. CANIDAE Racing auctioned off the navigator's seat to the highest bidder with all proceeds to benefit injured Baja 1000 motocross rider Justin ImHof and his family.

The charity auction was held January 8th at Oakley Headquarters in Foothill Ranch, California. In addition to the seat aboard the 800 HP CANIDAE Trophy Truck for the exciting Laughlin Leap, many generous companies and individuals donated other highly coveted items to the auction raising thousands of dollars for the injured rider and his family. Marlon Coffman of Abilene, Texas was the highest bidder for the CANIDAE Trophy Truck's navigator seat.

When racing begins on Saturday after the Laughlin Leap, fans will enjoy the two mile long infield section of a desert race course dense with jumps and turns. There will be grandstand seating and a large video projection in the middle of it all so race fans won’t miss a second of the action.

With a highly successful rookie season behind them in this ultra competitive class, drivers Scott Whipple and Scott Gailey are determined to turn their experience and new racing technology into podium finishes. "Having a year under our belt, and awesome Dougan HP and reliability going forward, we feel we can be get on the podium during the 2011 season," said co-driver Whipple... CANIDAE Racing will begin its second competitive season in the trophy truck class at the 17th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge race in Laughlin, Nevada on January 14, 2011. After a year spent testing their capabilities under competition conditions at eight events during the 2010 racing season, co-drivers Scott Whipple and Scott Gailey are determined to turn their experience and new racing technology into podium finishes.

"We are very proud of our team's accomplishments during 2010, our first year of racing in the Trophy Truck class. Our plan was to be conservative on our engine package and learn how to drive this awesome machine. For 2011 we are installing an 800 HP 454 CI Dougan small block Chevy. Having a year under our belt, and awesome Dougan HP and reliability going forward, we feel we can be very competitive during the 2011 season," said co-driver Whipple.
In addition to a new custom built engine for the season, CANIDAE Racing has welcomed aboard both new and returning sponsors. "We are proud to continue our relationship with influential advertisers such as Lucas Oil and several other key sponsors in 2011. We also are very pleased to welcome Magnaflow Exhaust Systems as a major sponsor. Magnaflow will be doing R&D on our exhaust system and providing technology improvements..."
Justin ImHof, age 17, was severely injured on November 18, 2010 while riding for the JCR Honda team on his 8x bike at the Baja 1000 race in Mexico. ImHof was at UCSD Hospital for several weeks in a coma. He recently came out of his coma and is making small amounts of progress toward a recovery each day.

"All of us at Canidae Racing were very moved when we heard about his injuries. We know how difficult recovery from such a devastating racing injury can be, and also understand the financial difficulties that can go along with the medical care and rehabilitation," said Scott Gailey, driver for Canidae Racing, who continued, "We all decided to help Justin and his family by auctioning off a ride in our Trophy Truck for the Laughlin Leap on January 14th. We are putting the winner in the navigator seat!"

The winner of the auction, to be conducted online and culminate at a final live auction at Oakley Headquarters located at 1 Icon, Foothill Ranch, CA on January 8th, will be welcomed aboard the 800 HP Canidae Racing Trophy Truck for the famous Laughlin Leap which is a large jump set up in the middle of the course that sends trucks and cars flying over a hundred feet in the air the day before the race.

In addition to being aboard the Trophy Truck for the excitement of the Leap, the winner of the auction will become an honorary member of Team Canidae Racing for the entire Laughlin Desert Challenge, and receive free weekend accommodations at the Tropicana Express Hotel Casino.

Online bidding for this grand prize begins Tuesday, December 28th at http://www.canidaeracing.com. Participants may send their bids to supportjustin@canidae.com and keep tabs on the highest bid on the website's homepage. Online bidding will continue until 5pm January 7th.

The three (3) highest bids at the close of the online portion of the auction will be invited to continue bidding via telephone on the final auction day, January 8th at Oakley Headquarters. Nine months ago this week Funny Car driver Paul Lee was preparing to climb into the CANIDAE Pet Foods/Lucas Oil/WileyX/Kymco Chevy for the first time in competition as his new team, Jim Dunn Racing, prepared for the 50th annual NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Fast forward those nine months to the same quarter-mile facility and the season opener becomes the season finale as the NHRA Full Throttle Series makes its 23rd and final stop of the season for this weekend’s 46th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

With a degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School and two graduate degrees from Rutgers, one can see that the 53-year-old Lee is not your typical drag racer. The start of this season marked the first opportunity for the veteran Top Alcohol Funny Car driver to drive a Top Fuel Funny Car full time after select NHRA Full Throttle Series stops over the years (10 races prior to the 2010 season including the U.S. Nationals)... Since 1967, the SCORE Baja 1000 has been the biggest and toughest off road race on the planet. Thirty-five of the world’s best Trophy Truck drivers will take the green flag first among over 300 other racers at the 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. This year’s legendary desert classic, the final event of the five race 2010 SCORE Desert Series, will be held November 16 to 20 in Mexico on a brutal 1061.69 mile race course.
Every bolt and washer will be new, every ounce of top-quality Lucas Oil fresh as the team puts the final touches on their support trucks and race machine in this massive undertaking. This team has had an amazing year and looks to cap off the season with a strong finish at this, the Granddaddy of all off road races.
The NHRA Full Throttle Series makes its second trek of the season to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for this weekend’s 10th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals, and Funny Car driver Paul Lee is looking for the CANIDAE Pet Foods/Lucas Oil/WileyX/Kymco Chevy to fare much better the second time around. The series returns to the track for its penultimate race after a three-week break in the schedule since visiting Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa. Lee set career bests in both elapsed time and speed there with a 4.089 seconds e.t. at 308.14 mph.

NHRA race fans can catch all the action live as it happens from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway by visiting www.CanidaeRacing.com to follow the CANIDAE Pet Foods/Lucas Oil/WileyX Funny Car throughout qualifying and eliminations. Log in to view reports and photos direct from the Jim Dunn crew and driver Paul Lee . . . Don’t miss a second of the action!

It will be good to get back on the track," Lee said. "It’s always nice going to Vegas with a first-class facility and a fun city to visit. What’s not to like?

"But we had a tough time here in April. I was new to the team and it was only our sixth race together. We were still dialing in a new clutch system, the team had to account for a driver that was a hundred pounds lighter than last year’s, so we had a lot of balls in the air to start the season. We missed the top 12 on Friday by like a thousandth of a second..."

New Jersey native Paul Lee always enjoys trips back to the East Coast now that his home address has changed to the 714 area code, and this weekend will be no exception as the NHRA Full Throttle Series prepares for the 26th annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. And it was just a little more than a year ago that the Wharton Business School graduate was the CFO for Nick Boninfante Sr. and his Pennsylvania-based Boninfante Clutches, so after a weekend off Lee is excited to get back behind the wheel of the CANIDAE Pet Foods/Lucas Oil/WileyX/Kymco Chevy in somewhat familiar territory.

NHRA race fans can catch all the action live as it happens from Maple Grove Raceway by visiting www.CanidaeRacing.com to follow the CANIDAE Pet Foods/Lucas Oil/WileyX Funny Car throughout qualifying and eliminations. Log in to view reports and photos direct from the Jim Dunn crew and driver Paul Lee . . . Don’t miss a second of the action!

“I’m looking forward to going back to Reading,” Lee said. “Growing up next door in New Jersey, it’s still an easy drive over to Maple Grove for my family and friends. Plus, I worked awhile for Boninfante Clutches as their CFO, and they’re headquartered just up the road in Yeadon (Pa.), so maybe I’ll get to see some old friends over the weekend. I’ve even still got my home in the area, so it will be good to get back there.” (read more)

Find CANIDAE Retailers Near You!
