This June our dog of the month is Harvey D. or as we call him “Mr. Popular.” This handsome guy is one of the most playful and enthusiastic dogs that comes to stay with us. Harvey’s positivity is just infectious and always has the cabana staff laughing. His favorite pals include Geno, Hammie, Kalli Ice, Rio, and anyone willing to chase him! This month is our action packed June Platoons event full of “ruff” and tumble activities which is why Harvey is the perfect choice for June’s dog of the month!

A safe crate/kennel will be required if you must evacuate and move to a local shelter. Take a few minutes to locate your nearest pet-friendly shelter in this area. It is very important to verify the pet-friendly shelter information every year, since it frequently changes. Water for yourself and your pets is very important. Pack ample food and if your dog requires medication, please be certain to have those prescritpions refilled early. For cats, please also pack litter and a litter box. If your pet is not friendly with people, please remember to bring a muzzle with you.

As with any change, your pets will respond differently before, during, and after a storm. After the storm, check for damage outside before allowing them to go out. Broken fences, plant debris, and broken trees/branches can all be dangerous and disorienting to your pets. It is best to keep them on-leash for several days following a storm when going outside for potties. This will keep them safe and give you peace of mind.

If you are separated from your pet during a storm, contact animal services. In Hillsborough County, FL, the number is (813)744-5660. Also contact your online microchip company and let them know the last location of your pet. All pet rescue organizations during a tragedy will first attempt to find a microchip and contact you. So if your pet does not have a microchip, then contact your local veterinarian and have this done as soon as possible.

This month we are celebrating Dillon as our January dog of the month! His loving warm demeanor can warm up even the chilliest January day. Some of his best pals include Toby, Ruby and Cooper. This laid back Wheaton Terrier loves to roll in the grass and feel the sun on his belly! While he is here visiting some of his favorite pals it’s not unlikely for him to hound the cabana staff for a little extra loving, and being the wonderful pooch that he is we just can’t say no! And that’s why we here at the cabana agree that Dillon’s polite and paw-sitive attitude makes him the perfect January dog of the month and usher into the New Year!

Geno is one loveable lab! Not only are we celebrating him being the December Dog of the Month, but also his birthday as he is turning two! Geno is the perfect winter wonderland pup since he is a huge Penguins fan! In fact, he even has his own personal fan club here at The Cabana. Some of his favorite pals are Jake, Harper and Harvey! He loves coming to play with his friends in the yards and roam in the cool winter air! All The Cabana staff agreed that only Geno could be our December Dog of the Month!

Miss Maya celebrated her fourth birthday party here at The Cabana yesterday with all her favorite pals! Her favorite part was the gourmet tv cake made just for her! Maya loves watching doggies on the tv and was so excited to see the special treat. She also loved trying to give the staff peanut butter kisses after eating her cake! Maya is such a sweetheart!
