Brochure sites can either be complicated or simple. When we were approached by Biffin’s Home Maintenance to do their website there was nothing else to do but go with simple and elegant…

Nah. Thats just fancy speak. Neil needed a site so he could send people there to find out what the deal is with the Home Installation Grant, and so it had to be simple and information. We reduced the clutter, and had the main heading at the top, to encourage the reader to continue.

Small sites like this are a blast to do, and fun to play with.

It may seem like cheating to use a CSS Framework, but in the end the pluses and minuses seem to even out.

Our Favourite: 960 Grid System

In some ways they are like using PreFab for building a house – we have found them useful for rapid development, and knowing what we can use where.

They are indeed very helpful.

Rainbow Riders was our first not for profit website. We got the job from a referal, and spoke with the very nice people at Rainbow Riders to get a feel for what they did. After discussions we worked on their website – the first version was dreadful, but with some poking and prodding John came out with an awesome design, I still smile everytime I see it.

Sure, we could be a web development and design company like everyone else, taking on clients and doing a huge body of work. But we think it is better for us, and our clients, that we can work together to create something greater than the sum of the parts.

There is currently many internet and design companies around, many of them offer the same services and it is hard to tell them all apart. We used to be like that – trying to grab any job we possibly could – and while it was good, it just wasn’t fun to sink our time and energy into a product didn’t make us excited.

What we did was change our philosophy, a complete rework of our company. Instead of shadow boxing for work, we’d just work on projects that excite us. Work that is an inspiration to you, to us and to the people using it.

We want to attract clients that have a vision to take on the world in their industry (not in a Hank Scoripio type way). Clients that want to shake the norm, or tackle the giants in their path. We want to go on an adventure and see what happens. To walk the path less taken.

We want to be pushed in new directions, to be challenged by our clients and pushed to create products that are admired by everyone who uses them.

In essence we want clients who can take a challenge, and who can challenge us.
