1. The Live View takes some getting used to with a digital camera. It means that you’re seeing what’s coming through the lens, not what’s coming through the CCD. That’s a very distinct difference which has to be experienced to understand. The CCD is the integrated circuit which grabs the image. The CCD image might be drastically different than what’s coming through the lens, particularly if you’re shooting into the sun. Many can’t get used to that huge leap of difference, and others love the feature.

2. Also, because there is no spot metering while in live view, that greatly impedes its function.

3. The plastic case makes it look poorer quality than some other cameras of its price range. However, you might appreciate that plastic case; it greatly reduces the camera’s weight. That might be a disadvantage, though, because having less momentum, the camera will shake more.

All-in-all, despite its flaws, the Canon Rebel XS 10.1Mp Digital SLR Camera is a great low-end SLR camera.

The Nikon D90 is the successor to the highly rated Nikon D80. After testing the D90 I must say that this newer model is a wonderful upgrade from the older model. In continuous shooting mode, the Nikon D90 can manage 4fps. This is pretty good for a digital SLR of its class. It is also a speedy digital SLR model. From a cold start, it takes just 0.2 seconds before it is ready to take its first shot. As for its shot-to-shot time, it clocked in a just 0.6 seconds. All in all, this is an extremely impressive mid-range digital SLR model for its price. Currently, the Nikon D90 retails for just $1139 each, an excellent buy considering its feature set and performance.

Shooting with the Canon T1i is fast.

A DSLR without a lens to match just makes no good sense, but Canon has seen fit to include the very capable and affordable 18-55 IS lens as a Camera Kit lens. The zoom of 18-55mm is more than enough and a great walk around lens that can shoot wide with a 28mm equivalent, or zoom into about 70mm which would be considered mid telephoto by most. Of course, the lens offers image stabilization which means you can leave the tripod at home and just go out with the Canon EOS t1i to get your perfect shots.
