Join other CCA parents on Friday, February 24th at 8:00 a.m. in the Cage to discuss plans for our next big fundraiser, CCA's "Retro Prom" Gala. This event is being organized by the CCA Foundation. College Athlete Admissions Workshop

A series of workshops for the college-bound athlete interested in playing a collegiate sport will be held at Canyon Crest Academy starting on February 25, 2012. The workshops, presented by Future College Athlete (not affiliated with the CCA Counseling department), are open to all high school students from any school playing at any level – Divisions I, II, III and Junior College. Get educated on what coaches are looking for, and learn about NCAA, NAIA, and Junior College rules and how they may affect the student. Listen to guest speakers talk about admissions, SATs, ACTs, scholarships, academic support, strength and conditioning, and more. Canyon Crest Academy (CCA) and Canyon Crest Academy Foundation (CCAF) do not endorse or recommend any particular company, service or individual. Conducting this event on CCA's campus does not constitute or imply an endorsement or recommendation by CCA, CCAF or anyone else. This event is being held as a fundraiser by the CCAF. A portion of the fees for these programs are donated to CCAF, although, additional time with College Bound Athletes (outside of the on-campus workshop) do not benefit CCAF.

Raven Wishes Nights: Athletics Feb 22 and Envision March 6

The popular Canyon Crest Academy Foundation Raven Wishes Nights return on February 22 with a focus on Athletics, then return on March 6, for our Envision Night. These events run from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Del Mar Hilton (Jimmy Durante Blvd and Via de la Valle). All parents and supporters of CCA are invited to meet with teachers and administrators one-on-one, learn what is needed to keep CCA’s award-winning programs on top, and make a donation to the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation for needed items and programs. Admission is free and complimentary hors d'oeuvres and parking will be provided.

Raven Wishes Boards will be on display at each of these events. These boards feature items supported by Foundation donations that are needed to provide faculty support and supplement these programs for the school. Wishes Lists for Athletics will be on display at the event. For the Envision night, you can view the Wishes Lists for Theater, Digital Fine Arts, Vocal Music, Dance, Cinema and Instrumental Music. Don't forget the Academics, Counseling and Technology lists: Counseling, English, Math, PE, Science & QUEST, Social Sciences, Special Ed, Technology and World Languages.

QUEST Research Poster Session / Gallery Walk, Jan 24, 2012

The Second Annual QUEST Research Poster Session / Gallery Walk at CCA is on January 24, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This is like a science fair, where students from research courses present their proposals and research, answering questions and gathering feedback from those attending. Robotics will also be bringing robots and projects to share.

The Poster Session / Gallery Walk will be held at the Canyon Crest Academy QUEST Research facility, room C204, on the CCA Campus. This affair is the crowning event of a semester-long course in research methods and techniques. Students will present both research proposals and competed research projects in science fields including biology, physics, and engineering.

This event is open to all: peers and family can see what these students have been working on all semester; local community members or industry professionals can check out the program and consider donating time, resources or money; students in the 8th and 9th grades interested in QUEST can learn about research and engineering programs at CCA. Come see our amazing students! Light refreshments will be provided.

Grad Nite 2012 Meetings In January

Choose the time that works best for you: Wednesday, Jan. 4th, 9:15-10:30am in the Cage OR Monday, Jan. 9th, 7-8:30pm in the Media Center. Also, Save the Date: Senior Parent Information Night (SPIN) January 23rd, 7-8:00pm Proscenium Theatre!

Grad Nite is an all-night party held on the CCA campus where seniors safely celebrate graduation with all their classmates. This all-volunteer effort by parents provides a safe and sober environment where seniors can relax and celebrate the night of their high school graduation. Interview Tips and Techniques for Teens, Jan 19, 2012

High school teens can learn how to prepare for a college interview at a seminar to be held at Canyon Crest Academy, Thursday January 19 ~~January 18~~ (corrected date) at 7:00pm in the CCA Media Center. Peggy Wallace of Making Conversation, LLC will lead teens in learning how to create an interview opportunity, craft personal talking points, tell memorable strength stories, and make the college admissions interviewer their advocate. All parents and students from the community are welcome to attend. Teens (and their parents) will receive preparation tools and a content-rich handout.

Envision, the Arts at CCA and the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation present the annual Envision: Festival of the Arts celebration, to be held on the CCA campus on Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This arts extravaganza is open to the entire community and will feature musical and theatrical performances, film screenings, and showcase student work in digital and fine arts. We encourage you to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy this fantastic arts evening!

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and can be purchased at the door or online at cca-envision.org. The schedule of events is now available on the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation website — canyoncrestfoundation.org.

Art & Media — Drawings, paintings, images, photography, and sculpture by Envision Department of Fine Arts Students. Student art and hand-printed T-shirts will be available for purchase.
Cinema Screening - Original documentaries, dramas, and animated shorts by Envision Film Students. Also appearing are Envision Day class projects from Video/Film, Advanced Video/Film, and ROP Media Production, including CCA-TV reports, documentaries, public service announcements, music videos, and commercials.
Dance — performances to the music of Muse, Bjork, Freestylers, Underworld, and more.
Instrumental Music — Grammy Signature School award winning Javanese Gamelan orchestra, Winter concert selections, Jazz Band, and Samba Corvo performances by Envision Instrumental and Vocal Students.
Vocal Music — Selections from Swedish vocal jazz, The Real Group, holiday favorites, classical, theater and contemporary solo performances by Music Students.
On Stage — Performances of STOMP!, projects, and selections from the upcoming musical Kiss Me Kate by Envision Theater and Dance Students.
The Nest — Great drinks and entertainment in this student-run venue. And plan to enjoy dinner or a snack from the latest trend in culinary delights — the SuperQ curbside food truck!
