Pam’s website is a great place to start if you are looking to purchase a home or condominium in Englewood Florida, Cape Haze, Placida, Manesota key, Boca Grande, Palm Island and the surrounding areas.

If you are looking to purchase a property on Palm Island, I would recommend you talk with Pat Bieneman http://www.patbieneman.com/. She lives on Palm Island and knows every property on the island like the back of her hand. I purchased one property from her this year, and it was a pleasure dealing with her.

There are some really good deals out there for flying from Cleveland to Ft. Myers Florida. I was going to drive down, but I discovered that Continental Airlines is offering $170 round trip plus the usual taxes. We were not able to find the exact date that we wanted, but were were able to find some open dates in December, well before Christmas.

I also checked a few other discount airlines. Both AirTran and USA3000 are offering fares that are more expensive than Continental Airlines from Cleveland to Ft. Myers.

Englewood Florida (Cape Haze Florida) is located midway between Sarasota Florida (about 1 hour drive) and Ft. Myers Florida (about 1 and 15 minutes). The other option is to fly into Tampa, Florida which is about a 1 and 3/4 hour drive to Cape Haze.

Why not add Cape Haze Resort to your next Disney trip. We are only a 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Disney. After a few days of Disney you will be ready to relax and enjoy fishing, the beach, and some golf.

There are a wide variety of luxury residence condominium communities on the Cape Haze peninsula and within the surrounding areas including Boca Grande, Manasota Key, and Palm Island.

Alligators In the Salt Water

I have visited Palm Island many, many times over the past 25 years, but until this August, I never saw an alligator on the Island. The first one I saw was crossing the rum bay quite near the Rum Bay Restaurant’s dock. This was interesting because I did not think that Alligators liked salt water.

Later in the week, I saw one in a small lagoon on the gulf side of the island. At first I thought it was a log… but the log looked like it had a couple of eyes popping out of the water. It was just about at my casting range, so I decided to see how close I could cast toward the log… and sure enough, on my second cast, the guy started swimming across the lagoon.

As it turned out, the same gator was in approximately the same spot every morning when I went out fishing.

The American Alligator prefers fresh water, but frequently ventures into brackish water. It is unusual to find them actually in the ocean. Although the Alligator is no longer on the Endangered list, however they are still listed as threatened.

It is possible that my Gator was really a Crocodile that had been imported from the Everglades.

Aside from this sighting, I notice that some ponds and small lakes on Vacation Condo property and golf courses have signs warning of nearby alligators.

I often fish along the beach near the mangroves. I think in the future, I will pay a bit more attention to what might be sneaking up behind me.

By way of explanation he advised me that neighboring communities such as Sarasota, Ft. Myers, and Punta Gorda all and economic advisory committees, and do attract new business from all around the USA as well as the rest of the world. He went on to explain that Cape Haze – Englewood – Boca Grand are rather places where the CEO of one of those companies will choose to live.

This area typifies “old Florida”. There are recreational opportunities including backwater fishing, deep sea fishing, sailing, yachting, golf, tennis, hiking, beach walking…. the list is endless. We have marinas, golf courses, great restraints, and a number of great vacation condominiums and private homes to choose from.
