New restaurant Claw on Manhattan’s 23rd St has just received their new a-frame sidewalk canopy with digitally printed logos and custom heat fused vinyl stripes. The result is an outstanding entrance welcoming new patrons for 2012! I wish they would deliver to us here in Queens.

Sign Builder Illustrated, July 2011 Issue

Capitol Awning was back in the pages of Sign Builder Illustrated last month in an article titled “Hungry For A Redesign” by Jeff Wooten. The piece profiles one of the first Dunkin’ Donuts, built during the 1940’s in Plainfield, New Jersey and our process of updating this classic structure.

A $1.75 Million NYC Apt, an Indoor Illuminating Blimp & Capitol Awning…

Recently the NY Daily News featured an article on a $1.75 million Chelsea apartment up for sale. Not a huge surprise based on the location and NYC real estate prices these days. However, this is not an ordinary designed space. The 1,800 square foot residence is completely designed in the Steam Punk fashion and it’s highlight is a 32 foot long internally illuminated zeppelin. Not crazy enough? The blimp’s internal lights change colors in different hues of pink, orange, blue and green.

Apartment owner Jeremy Noritz visionary ideas for this project back in 2009 somehow lead him to the doors of Capitol Awning and the rest is Sci-Fi history. Below are some pics of our journey through time, space, design and installation.
