Artisan Markets

2026-10-03T11:06:57.255-07:00

As the weather cools and the squirrels collect their nuts, I too wrap up the harvest and collect seasonal must-haves; crunchy apples, walnuts and BEESWAX!

Yes, its time to dust off the melting pot and get ready for candle season.

This year I will be participating in several holiday artisan markets where I sell

hand-dipped beeswax candles, aromatic soy candle pours and artful gifts.

Please join me at these upcoming artisan markets.

Or for your convenience write to capricornucopia@hotmail.com to arrange your special order. *please note that I only ship within Canada.

Requiem for Gentileschi

Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art

Opening December 5th in our Members’ Gallery is Requiem for Gentileschi by Rena Warren.

This work was borne out of response to regressive shifts in gender politics and suppression of women’s rights; in the wake of #MeToo, the overturning of Roe v. Wade and war on DEI south of our border; and in response to an increase in racial tensions, a growing political divide, and ever-expanding chasm between the disenfranchised and emboldened elite. It also follows two recent works titled Cognitive Dissonance; Social Media Post #1 and #2; works that superimpose a benignly floral veneer over images of war, questioning a collective social gag order and state where a well-behaved citizen pays taxes, earn Likes, posts selfies and cats or the latest DIY; and where influencers lull us to sleep with self-care du jour; all amid horrific abuses of power and shocking global injustices. This work seeks to address the paralytic state of social discourse, where a call for empathy and humanity can earn one’s place on the institutional chopping block. Requiem for Gentileschi is a battle cry dedicated to the occupied and oppressed.

Requiem for Gentileschi will be available for viewing in our Members Gallery from December 5th to January 10th 2026!

I love the unpredictable outcomes of the block printing process, especially when I tessellate the image so that it can be repeated through rotation. This current work was inspired by the animal motifs found in the art left by the Scythians.

The Patron and The Muse

2012-12-20T14:35:00.007-08:00

The greatest gift a patron can give to the artist, is his trust. I have been blessed by such a patron who trusts my creative process implicitly. When I compare prescribed commissions with those where I am given free reign, the results are incomparable. When I stand before a canvas awaiting the pulse to create, there is a moment of excitement; of bearing witness to the evolution of creative energy; a process where I feel as though I am merely a vehicle blessed with the opportunity to channel stories and sentiments of the ether.

Thank you to my fine patrons for the opportunity.

Prayer for Bharat

2012-08-26T17:04:00.000-07:00

A work created out of devotion and hope for peaceful resolve between Hindus and Muslims; brothers and sisters of Earth, please stop the bloodshed.

Original carved block print and mixed media on newsprint. The block design was created

in reference to sacred geometry; the grand design in nature (God), and is set in six-point radial symmetry; that which can be found in snow crystals.

The Globe and Mail article exposes Pakistani American David Headley who scouted locations for the Mumbai attacks. The front page of the Times of India features an article which proposes resolution between Pakistan and India with caption that reads "Love Pakistan". The third is a Calgary (Canadian) newspaper written in Urdu (?) which speaks to the day-to-day life we all live and how many cultures can co-exist in a truly pluralistic society such as Canada strives to be.

Thank you to my friendly neighbours, (and fellow Indophiles), who have purchased these works for their home.

Peace
