FIAT Abarth 500C

Italian car tuning studio, Fiat’s official tuning brand, has unveiled its latest work based on the FIAT 500C before of the italian convertible’s world debut at upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The FIAT Abarth 500C benefits from a more powerful turbocharged engine as well as chassis upgrades and a full suite of aero tweaks to reduce drag and improve high-speed stability over the standard Fiat 500C.

FIAT Abarth 500C comes from a 1.4-liter turbocharged T-Jet engine delivering 140 horsepower and 206Nm of peak torque at 2,000 rpm. The engine equipped with a standard six-speed automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters.

The Abarth 500C can runs from zero to 100km/h in 8.1 seconds and gets a maximum of 205km/h.

The FIAT’s tuning studio said that it is also working on a more powerful “Esseesse” model that will be available later this year.

The sporty 500C’s features include a thick-rimmed sports steering wheel, unique decorative trim, a pair of body-hugging front sport seats and a modified instrument panel.

The FIAT Abarth 500C will arrive to European dealerships later this year, U.S. sales will start sometime in 2012.

Good news for lexus fans: luxury automaker has announced that it will unveil the production version of the first full hybrid vehicle that bears the name CT 200h at the Geneva Auto Show in the beginning of March.

The five-door model is designed to go against the Audi A3 and the BMW 1-Series hatches with Lexus claiming that it will offer “new levels of refinement and attention to detail, without compromising style or driving pleasure”.

The Lexus CT 200h will equipped with second-generation Hybrid Drive technology and that it can be driven exclusively in all-electric mode.

Even though it is speculated that the CT 200h will use the same FWD hybrid powertrain as the Lexus HS 250h, this has not been officially confirmed.

Kia Ray Concept

Kia has unveiled its new plug-in Hybrid concept today at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show. The new concept, called Ray, is more stylish than other hybrid models like the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight.

The futuristic character is continued in the interior that is comprised of eco-friendly and lightweight recycled materials in white tones that are said to reflect the heat of the sun, thus keeping the temperature down and reducing the use of air conditioner energy.

The Kia Ray is powered by an all-aluminum 153 hp Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 1.4-litre engine mated to a CVT and a 78kw electric unit powered by a lithium ion battery pack.

Depending on driving conditions, power is sent to the front wheels from the petrol engine, the electric motor, or both together.

The Kia Ray Concept, as said in specifications, can runs more than 50 miles using just its electric motor on a single charge, and has a fuel economy rating of more than 202 miles per gallon for a total range of 746 miles.

Peugeot has unveiled its 207 S16 special edition that will be produced in a mere 250 examples, all of which will be sold on the UK market.

Unfortunately, the Peugeot 207 S16 is nothing more than a facelifted 207 Sport 1.6 VTi.

Changes include the standard Bianca white finish that’s complemented by a full 207 RC Cup bodykit comprising front and rear spoilers, side skirts and a pseudo rear diffuser, 17-inch Hockenheim alloy wheels, dark tinted rear windows, a ’sports mesh’ front grille and special interior badge signed by Kris Meeke.

The 207S16 is powered by the same 1.6-liter four-pot with 120HP found on the Sport model.

The 1.6-liter engine starts the three-door small hatch from zero to 62mph (100km/h) in a sober 10.7 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 125mph or 201km/h.

Peugeot said that the 207 S16 benefits from over £1,200 worth of additional spec compared to a standard Sport model and is priced at £14,695.

Background info: A 42-year old man from Netherlands is caught after a bizarre chase. The man driving a Porsche 911 GT3 drove at speeds exceeding 200 km/h (125 mph) on the highway. The traffic cops gave him the stop sign from an undercover surveillance car. The Porsche took a last second exit and went off. While entering the highway again, the driver lost control in the corner of the entranceway hitting the safety rails, losing several parts from his car, and he tried to escape again. While being chased he took the road verge desperate to escape. Entering a parking space next to the highway and steps over to a Volkswagen Golf, driven by his 33-year old girlfriend. A 29-year old man which was the passenger at the Porsche took over the wheel from the Porsche and tries to get away. As seen in the video, while this was happening the police is taking a safe distance, observing until backup has arrived. The Golf drives away like nothing happened but the police knew he was in that car. They create a road block to hold up the traffic so they can arrest the former Porsche driver, the passenger now driving the Porsche also gets arrested. Similar Posts:

2011 Mazda6 - Atenza Facelift

The Japanese market version of the Mazda6, known as Atenza in Japan, has been officially unveiled. The 2011 Mazda Atenza has been refined with some styling changes, chassis tweaks and a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection.

The exterior enhancements for the freshened Mazda6 (Atenza) bring it line with the firm’s more recent models mainly by adopting the new Mazda’s family face with a five-point front grille.

There front bumper has been redesigned and features more pronounced air-inlets on the corners, while the newly styled 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels together with the revised tail lamp clusters complete the exterior makeover.

Underneath the hood Mazda fitted the Japanese Mazda6 with its newly developed 2.0-liter DISI gasoline engine with direct injection.

Mazda said that it has also tweaked the Atenza’s power steering and suspension settings improving the car’s handling and straight-line stability at high speeds as well the ride quality.

Hot news for Mondeo fans: a lightly camouflaged Ford Mondeo test mule has been spotted in Europe, undergoing cold-weather testing. Now you can see the final facelift for Ford’s mid-size sedan.

As you see, the upper grille has been narrowed, while the bumper intakes are likely to take on styling more in-line with the 2011 Ford Focus.

The rest of the new Mondeo appears unchanged. Sheetmetal will remain the same, but new LED taillights will likely feature on the new Ford Mondeo.

No word about powertrain details, output and fuel economy.

Ford’s new EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine is a definite contender for the facelifted Mondeo, as is the 2.0 litre turbodiesel and 6-speed Powershift twin-clutch gearbox used by the Ford Focus.

We expect that the facelifted Ford Mondeo to surface at the Geneva Motor Show next March.

Today you can watch videos of both the new BMW 535i and BMW 530d from the Lisbon presentation. The 2011 BMW 5-Series is based on a all-new architecture also featured in the 5-Series GT as well as the 7 Series luxury sedan.

The 2011 BMW 530d is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 245hp and 540Nm of peak torque that propels the car from standstill to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.

BMW claims that the 530d model returns a combined fuel economy in the EU cycle of 6.3lt/100km or 37.3 mpg US.

The new 535i gets a new 3.0-liter straight-six with a single, twin-scroll turbocharger pushing out 306HP and 400Nm of torque for a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 6.0 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h or 155mph.

The petrol model returns a combined fuel economy of 8.5lt/100km or 27.7mpg US.

In Europe, the 2011 BMW 5-Series will also be available with two more diesels, a 184HP 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit (520d) and a 204HP 3.0-liter inline six (525d) as well as three more petrol engines.
