It is first important for you to research as many vehicles as you can that fit in with your criteria. You should have a good idea as to what type of vehicle you are looking to purchase and therefore you need to research that specific make and model as much as you can. Look for as many vehicles that fit your requirements and consider what sort of price you would be willing to pay.

Once anyone has identified a vehicle that they may be interested in purchasing, it will be very important to check on the history of it. You should use the vehicle identification number in order to get a report on it. This should alert you as to whether the vehicle has been involved in any type of accident or whether it has undergone any damage.

The next step will be to conduct a full inspection of the vehicle. If you don’t really know what you are looking for yourself then it will be important for you to get this done by a professional mechanic. Many mechanics will be willing to do this for a relatively small fee, and this could end up saving you a great deal of money if something does appear to be wrong with the car.

It is critical that you are aware of the true value of the vehicle before you go to see it. A number of factors will determine this and therefore it is a good idea for you to look for similar vehicle is being sold in the local area to see what they are being sold for. This will give you an idea as to what the vehicle should be costing and from here you will be able to negotiate.

You should also remember that when purchasing an used vehicle, some level of negotiation over price is perfectly acceptable. When negotiating you should try to have your own budget in mind. From here you should always try to offer the low end of your budget when you first start negotiating. If then you meet in the middle then you will still have got the vehicle at a decent price.

Take your time and be as vigilant as you can. If you don’t take these steps thoroughly then you may well end up driving off the lot will have a vehicle that doesn’t fit in with your needs. Always fully test drive the vehicle as well before making your purchase and look out for any shudders or problems when driving it.

When most people think about enhancing their driving experience, especially during the night, they think about expensive systems that will dig deep holes in their wallets. However, the approach that is used to create a brighter lighting system for your car is a simple one and the outcome is extremely admirable. Xenon kits are basically DIY kits that anyone can install on their own and your truck or car will have a considerably brighter headlamp compared to the regular halogen lamp. This makes any nighttime driving a nice experience that is relatively safe for the reason that you can see better and further.

After you have bought your HID kit, the following simple precautions will ensure you enjoy using them:

The first thing you must do is make sure you mount the ballasts correctly; sometimes cheap kits come with cheaply assembled zip ties that don’t easily expand. You may have to change to better industrial type zip ties because it is their quality that ensures your ballasts remain well secured.

You must remember that xenon bulbs require a large amount of power to ignite but once that has happened, they consume very little power. This sometimes results in a bigger strain on the headlamp’s relay and they could fail in about two years on average. Replacing the relay costs around about $15 and they take not more than five minutes to replace.

You must always ensure that any daytime running lights are not enabled even though they use lower voltage. HID lights should not be switched on and off too frequently and, as such, the vehicle’s relay or DRL fuse needs to be disengaged.

While HID lights have the potential to last longer than the ordinary halogen lamps, you can never be too sure and, as such, you need to acquire at least two extra bulbs when buying your xenon kit since you never know when the bulb decides to take a break; you can be sure this is a decision you will never regret.

Unless you really know how to do it, you should avoid buying or trying to fix HID fog lights; these kit is only necessary for anyone who wants to enhance the nighttime visual experience. Installing them requires that you actually bring down the car’s bumper and I can only imagine how many of us want to go this way due to the complexity of the assignment.

You must be extremely careful what color of light you purchase. While brighter colors such as mild blue, yellow or white look good enough, you want to avoid kits the emit colors such as purple. Always ensure that the lights are angled correctly so as to avid blinding oncoming drivers with the bright light produced.

Bright HID lights will create attention to your car and if you decide to install them, remember to check that all the other lights are working properly or else you will easily earn yourself a ticket. However, apart from saving you from getting a ticket, you will have played your role in making nighttime driving safer and more pleasant for yourself and others.

The EPA said Monday that a second emissions “defeat device” was found on the 2014 VW Touareg, 2015 Porsche Cayenne, 2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8 and Q5 models powered by the VW Group’s 3.0-liter diesel unit, which was built by Audi for VW Group’s vehicles.

Volkswagen has denied the EPA’s charges about the 3.0-liter units, and promises it will ready to cooperate to resolve the issue. But the charges prompted Audi, VW and Porsche to stop sales of all new models with 3.0-liter TDI.

The spokesman of Audi of America, Brad Stertz, told us that the company intends to meet with regulators in the next weeks to discuss the violations and try to meet a consensus.

Also he unveiled VW company’s position that the 3.0-liter diesel units do not contain the same cheat software that VW has admitted to installing on 2.0-liter diesel vehicles.

The post VW, Audi and Porsche stopped sell all diesel model in U.S. first appeared on CARBLog.

General Motors is unveiled bad news: more then 3000 full-size truck and SUV will be recalled due to an ignition-switch problem. GM says:

The keys can get stuck in the “start” position and then slip to “accessory” if bumped. This is because the ignition lock gears have an outer diameter that’s larger than the specifications allow. The vehicles get a new ignition-lock housing to fix the problem.

Selling a car seems to be a fairly hard task, as you not only have to find a buyer, but also to sell it at a good price. Negotiating is another process which might be hard for some.

Actually it’s not that hard – basically any seller of a used car have two options of doing that – use a dealer’s services or go on his own.

The main difference between two is the price – selling to a dealer affects the price going up to the wholesale value, trading with a private party results in close to the retail value. Trade with the real person seems to be the way to go, as you get the most profit from it. Actually, both you and the dealer will spend time trying to get an attractive offer. Also working on your own probably means negotiating with the customer, while dealers announce the final price almost immediately. Despite this working alone is still a better option, as your time will cost way less than what a dealer will ask for. If you feel like too lazy for this – you are probably not considering that you will need to take your car to several different dealers who will only then negotiate with you. In case with private buyers – they will have to come to you.

Getting the right price for you car is about half the business. Promoting it on a correct website – pretty much another one. You can check prices on such places as ClearBook or Kelly Blue Book – they have a decent database of used cars (US market) and are capable of telling you what it is worth.

Advertising your trade can be done on either Cars.com ($15 fee for adding your car to the list), CraigsList (free), eBay Motors (free) or Mitula Philippines. The websites above will promote your trade for a couple hundreds of miles.

If you still feel lazy and like losing some money, going to a dealer will be your best option. At least dont sell it to the nearest dealer you find, try negotiating with a few to get the highest profit. Literally, no effort = no profit, take your car to a few and get them to inspect it. The demand for used cars is really high and indeed going up today. There should not be any issues selling it either to dealer or a private party.

The post Best Ways to Sell Your Used Car in Philippines first appeared on CARBLog.

There are five models of the new 2016 Civic: sedan, five-door hatch, coupe, Si and Type R. No info about the Si and Type R yet, we expect it couple weeks later.

Entry-level LX and EX model trims will be powered by a 2.0-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder that generates 158 horsepower, a 10 percent over the current Civic. The EX-T, EX-L trims and Touring trim levels will have a 1.5-liter, 16-valve, direct-injection DOHC inline-4 turbo under the hood. The forced induction motor will churn out 31 more horses than the outgoing 1.8 for a total of 174, the most powerful engine offered on a Civic not counting the Si performance models.

Two choices of transmission will be offered, a 6-speed manual or CVT. Sadly, it appears that the turbocharged motor will only be available with the CVT. As a result, Honda estimates a highway fuel economy rating of 40 miles per gallon, but more details will be revealed later.

Waiting for glittering new car models to come to market is not something engine heads are ever likely to do with any level of ease, but it’s something we have to do nonetheless. With 2015 firmly underway and new models like the Ford Mustang RTR and the Chevy Colorado ZR2 already on the horizon, we’re at least being satiated. But it’s not really enough.

What with all the design tests, safety requirements and risk assurance measurements that manufacturers and other automobile businesses have to run through, it’s no surprise it takes some time before we see particular models, announced months back, finally come to the fore.

Still there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming years. As these four vehicles, all set to come out between 2016-18, help to show.

2016 Cadillac CTSV

The third generation of the popular Cadillac CTS, America’s stalwart effort to overcome its European counterparts, is set for an update with it’s brand spanking new version the CTSV, set to come out in early 2016. With the CTS having gone a long way to bring prestige back to the Cadillac name, the new model looks set to fly the flag for GM by making full use of its ATS/CTS ‘Alpha’ architecture, infusing the new model with more aluminium and a placing within its body a new V8 engine.

2016 Ferrari FF Coupe

An update on the clown-shoe-shaped FF, the Ferrari FF Coupe seeks to differentiate itself with a new sloping roofline and missing back seat, with amendments also to its side air vents and front fascia.

Maintaining the standard beauty of the Ferrari, the FF is set to be a very similar companion to the Cavallino Country Squire, with a four-wheel-drive-system making up just one of its several new bells and whistles.

2018 Nissan IDx

This rear-driving, sleek coupe is another one of those must-wait models for the coming several years, and one that promises to be a fuel-efficient, safety-minded beauty. Having showcased a little taster of what to expect at the 2014 Tokyo auto show, the IDx seems to be the car Nissan wants most desperately to unleash on the masses.

Targeted for young adults with the aim to get them interested in nice looking, affordable cars again, the IDx concept comes from the generations old Datsun 510, borrowing its proportions and three-box design.

2017 Porsche Small Sedan

Taking inspiration from the Audi-made modular-longtidunal MLB architecture, Porsche’s Small Sedan is the perfect European street car and one set to light other metropoles on fire come 2017.

Attempting to alter the face of Porsche slightly while remaining faithful to the brand’s traditions, this Porsche hopes to be on par with its Audi counterparts and will be four-wheel drive only with turbocharged six-cylinder engines.

The coming years have a lot to offer us in terms of the consumer car landscape, with sleek new models promising to utilise the latest technological platforms making ground in the auto-world.

The only thing left to do is wait and hope that each of these projects comes to fruition and that they don’t, as has happened before, get derailed or shelved for other, less exciting, plans.

The post 4 Cars Worth Waiting For in 2016-18 first appeared on CARBLog.

Longing for the days when you felt good about driving your car, truck or SUV? With the average new-car price over $30,000, there are many reasons to hang on to the one you have. But maybe the one you have seems a bit too tired to keep. What your car needs is a makeover.

A little nip-tuck, new shoes and a few shiny accessories can make your vehicle exciting again without breaking the bank.
Consumers spend more than $33 billion annually to personalize their vehicles, according to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the trade organization representing the automotive aftermarket industry.

“The possibilities are tremendous. You’d be amazed how just a few hundred dollars of accessories can completely change and enhance a vehicle’s looks or performance,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO.

Here are a few things for a great vehicle makeover:

1)	Wheels and Tires: One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to freshen up the look and improve the safety, comfort and performance of any vehicle is to get new shoes – a set of custom wheels and specialty/performance tires.

There are literally thousands of combinations to choose from. Start at a local tire shop or specialty wheel store where they can tell you what fits your vehicle and budget, present some options and do the installation.

2)	Mobile Electronics: Another way to make your vehicle cool and more fun to drive is to install some modern mobile electronics. Today’s selection of car audio equipment, navigation systems, backup cameras and more is broad and can fit a range of budgets. Plus, they can be installed on just about any vehicle and instantly make the drive more convenient.

3)	LED Lighting: Once the domain of clunky and inefficient incandescent bulbs, accessory lighting has moved to LED technology with nearly limitless applications. Fog lights, driving lights, work lights and even interior lights are now available in compact LED format, which uses less energy, emits less heat and can be many times brighter.

4)	Running Boards: If you’re feeling like your truck or SUV has gotten taller since you’ve owned it, it probably means you’re just a little less excited about climbing in and out of it. A set of running boards under the doors can make ingress and egress more comfortable and elegant. Don’t like the look? There are running boards that can automatically extend and retract for a clean look and great functionality when needed.

5) Bed Organizers: There’s a lot of space in a pickup truck bed and not all of it is needed all the time. Bed organizers have roll-out drawers and load-carrying tops to keep cargo safe and organized.

6)	Suspension Parts: Like anything that happens gradually, springs and shocks often wear out almost imperceptibly, allowing for less control. A fresh set will get your ride feeling like new and help you drive safer. If you choose, you can even install upgraded models for better-than-new ride and handling.

7)	Engine Performance: There are several ways to make improvements to your engine. “Bolt-on” parts let your engine breathe easier for increased power and efficiency. If you’re really serious, you may want to consider having a supercharger installed to increase horsepower significantly. There are kits for many popular cars and trucks, especially V-8s.

8)	Restyling: Improving your vehicle’s looks goes beyond custom wheels. There are plenty of companies that make cosmetic body kits that, when properly installed, can make your vehicle look sportier or more aggressive.

9)	Wraps: If the paint on your car is worn out, consider getting it wrapped. Several companies offer hundreds of color and pattern options that are a good alternative to having your car resprayed. The best thing is, they’re durable, removable and affordable, so you can change them as often as you like.

10) Car Care: You’d be amazed at how much you can improve and protect the appearance of your vehicle with a good, old-fashioned deep cleaning and polishing. Automotive cleaners, soaps and waxes are available for all surfaces and materials and can be purchased at auto parts stores nationwide.

“It never ceases to amaze me how innovative this industry is” said Kersting. “If you can think of a product you’d like to have, it’s likely available. Visit your local auto custom retailer or go online to find the products you want. And it it’s not available now, it soon will be!”
