Apple founder Steve Jobs dies at 56

This goes to show that no matter how much money you have, how many doctors you have access to, if you have private healthcare, if you have ObamaCare we need to continue Cancer Research. RIP Steve Jobs started trending almost immediately after his death was announced by the associated press. He was an innovator, job creating, forward thinking American that will be missed for many years. If you are thinking of donating to cancer research you might want to look into car donation.

Steve, you will be missed.

Toronto – Danforth
Leader of the Official Opposition/Chef de l’Opposition officielle
Leader, New Democratic Party/Chef, Nouveau Parti démocratique
August 20, 2011
Toronto, Ontario
Dear Friends,
Tens of thousands of Canadians have written to me in recent weeks to wish me well. I want to thank each and every one of you for your thoughtful, inspiring and often beautiful notes, cards and gifts. Your spirit and love have lit up my home, my spirit, and my determination.
Unfortunately my treatment has not worked out as I hoped. So I am giving this letter to my partner Olivia to share with you in the circumstance in which I cannot continue.
I recommend that Hull-Aylmer MP Nycole Turmel continue her work as our interim leader until a permanent successor is elected.
I recommend the party hold a leadership vote as early as possible in the New Year, on approximately the same timelines as in 2003, so that our new leader has ample time to reconsolidate our team, renew our party and our program, and move forward towards the next election.
A few additional thoughts:
To other Canadians who are on journeys to defeat cancer and to live their lives, I say this: please don’t be discouraged that my own journey hasn’t gone as well as I had hoped. You must not lose your own hope. Treatments and therapies have never been better in the face of this disease. You have every reason to be optimistic, determined, and focused on the future. My only other advice is to cherish every moment with those you love at every stage of your journey, as I have done this summer.
To the members of my party: we’ve done remarkable things together in the past eight years. It has been a privilege to lead the New Democratic Party and I am most grateful for your confidence, your support, and the endless hours of volunteer commitment you have devoted to our cause. There will be those who will try to persuade you to give up our cause. But that cause is much bigger than any one leader. Answer them by recommitting with energy and determination to our work. Remember our proud history of social justice, universal health care, public pensions and making sure no one is left behind. Let’s continue to move forward. Let’s demonstrate in everything we do in the four years before us that we are ready to serve our beloved Canada as its next government.
To the members of our parliamentary caucus: I have been privileged to work with each and every one of you. Our caucus meetings were always the highlight of my week. It has been my role to ask a great deal from you. And now I am going to do so again. Canadians will be closely watching you in the months to come. Colleagues, I know you will make the tens of thousands of members of our party proud of you by demonstrating the same seamless teamwork and solidarity that has earned us the confidence of millions of Canadians in the recent election.
2
To my fellow Quebecers: On May 2nd, you made an historic decision. You decided that the way to replace Canada’s Conservative federal government with something better was by working together in partnership with progressive-minded Canadians across the country. You made the right decision then; it is still the right decision today; and it will be the right decision right through to the next election, when we will succeed, together. You have elected a superb team of New Democrats to Parliament. They are going to be doing remarkable things in the years to come to make this country better for us all.
To young Canadians: All my life I have worked to make things better. Hope and optimism have defined my political career, and I continue to be hopeful and optimistic about Canada. Young people have been a great source of inspiration for me. I have met and talked with so many of you about your dreams, your frustrations, and your ideas for change. More and more, you are engaging in politics because you want to change things for the better. Many of you have placed your trust in our party. As my time in political life draws to a close I want to share with you my belief in your power to change this country and this world. There are great challenges before you, from the overwhelming nature of climate change to the unfairness of an economy that excludes so many from our collective wealth, and the changes necessary to build a more inclusive and generous Canada. I believe in you. Your energy, your vision, your passion for justice are exactly what this country needs today. You need to be at the heart of our economy, our political life, and our plans for the present and the future.
And finally, to all Canadians: Canada is a great country, one of the hopes of the world. We can be a better one – a country of greater equality, justice, and opportunity. We can build a prosperous economy and a society that shares its benefits more fairly. We can look after our seniors. We can offer better futures for our children. We can do our part to save the world’s environment. We can restore our good name in the world. We can do all of these things because we finally have a party system at the national level where there are real choices; where your vote matters; where working for change can actually bring about change. In the months and years to come, New Democrats will put a compelling new alternative to you. My colleagues in our party are an impressive, committed team. Give them a careful hearing; consider the alternatives; and consider that we can be a better, fairer, more equal country by working together. Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done.
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.
All my very best,

The FDA reveals 9 new shocking warning labels for cigarettes. According to FDA starting September of 2012 all cigarette packaging will have to have larger, easier to see warning imagery. This is a great step for cancer prevention. I think my “favorite” would have to be the tracheotomy smoker. We are a little “behind” Australia on the gross out factor but but even if this initiative helps 1% of smokers to cut down or even stop smoking it has done its job. FDA has made these Cigarette Warning Labels available for download in high resolution. You can do your part to fight this war on Cancer by educational means.

Cancer: You Must Fight Back To Survive

Dana Reeve- Lost the Battle to Lung Cancer

Unfortunately, cancer affects all of us. It has affected everyone in some way. Whether it be a loved one or a favorite celebrity, cancer ignores social status. Cancer is to humans that kryptonite is to superman. There are ways to minimize the potential of getting cancer, but there is no cure for cancer. Cancer can change your life no matter how tough you think you are mentally and physically. You can try to avoid cancer, but it can be deadly if it is too late to fight back. The sad irony is that the wife of actor Christopher Reeve, famous for his role in Superman, died of lung cancer. Dana Reeve was only 44 years old! Her death came after the tragic loss of Christopher Reeve as well. Imagine how difficult it is for the Reeve family to deal with their loss.

For cancer patients, one of the most important things to remember is too never quit fighting. While there is no cure for cancer, there are treatments to help people win the battle against cancer. Some argue that the side affects of chemotherapy are worse than the actual disease. However, to beat cancer you must be as strong as Superman. Let’s discuss some of the celebrities and athletes that have been diagnosed with cancer. Some of their stories are truly inspirational.

List of Celebrities Who Have Fought Against Cancer

*List of celebrities are in no particular order.

Paul Newman: 1925-2008

Famous actor, firm director, entrepreneur and professional race driver died of lung cancer. He lived the life that many of us dream of. He won Academy awards and won several national championships in the Sports Car Club of America. His race car teams won several championships in the Indy Car racing series. He also was the co-founder of Newman’s Own, a nonprofit food company. All the profits of his food sales were given to charity. We will all miss Paul Newman.

———————————————————

Patrick Swayze: 1952-2009

Best known for his acting in “Ghost and Dirty Dancing”, Patrick was a strong willed fighter until he finally lost the battle to pancreatic cancer. He even tried an experimental drug called “Vatalanib” to help him win the battle against cancer. During his fight with cancer, he continued to smoke despite his doctors orders. Sometimes happiness is an important virtue to follow.

———————————————————

Farrah Fawcett: 1947-2009

Famous actress and artist, died from anal cancer, a rare disease that affects only 5,000 people in the U.S each year. After radiation treatment and chemotherapy, she was declared cancer free. However, during a routine checkup in 2007, the cancer had returned. Two years later, she lost the battle with lung cancer. Farrah was a sex symbol and a pop culture icon back in the 1970′s and early 1980′s. She will be remembered for her friendly personality and her youthfulness.

———————————————————

Ted Kennedy: 1932-2009

Ted was the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy. He was elected into the Senate in 1964 and was reelected seven more times before he died. In May 2008, he was rushed to the emergency room after he suffered from a seizure. However, medical tests revealed that he had a brain tumor and it was not a stroke. Despite being treated with chemotherapy and radiation, he lost his battle to brain cancer at his home.

———————————————————

Michael Douglas: Beat Cancer

American actor and producer, has won his battle against throat cancer! After intense radiation and chemotherapy, he can now enjoy life. However, there is a small chance of a recurrence of tumors. His battle with cancer received a high amount of media attention. America was able to see the signs of him battling against cancer. Despite undergoing the fight of his life, he kept a positive attitude that was admirable for all cancer sufferers.

—————————————————————

Lance Armstrong: Survivor

Lance is a former American professional road racing cyclist who won the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times. If that was not impressive enough, he was also fighting a battle against testicular cancer. However, all of his trophies do not amount to him beating cancer. His cancer treatment included brain and testicular surgery and intensive chemotherapy. At one time, doctors were not overly optimistic about his chance of beating cancer. It goes to show that you have to be mentally tough to win the battle against cancer. Lance also became the founder and chairman of the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer research and support. His foundation is also known as Livestrong.org.

—————————————————————

Thanks To Our Troops, Bin Laden Killed In Secret Raid

It is true, the mastermind behind the September 11th, 2011 World Trade Center tragedy is dead. President Obama Barack approved the top secret operation to kill Osama on April 29th. The news of Bin Laden’s death has brought cheers to everyone across the world. However, will this act of justice have any significant impact on the global war on terror? That remains to be seen.

Just as important is the brave men and women that worked together to complete the mission to capture Osama Bin Laden. Our U.S troops showed us their courage and they have made us proud again. The war on terror is far from over, but the death of Osama Bin Laden is a momentous victory that will boost our nations morale.

Thank those brave men and women who serve in our nation’s military and intelligence community both at home and abroad. Your courage has been admirable as America has slowly moved on from the tragic events on September 11, 2001. Please take a moment to honor those who were lost on that horrible day and their families who will forever cherish their memories. Thank you for your courage and may God continue to bless us all.

Vietnam Veterans of America Reporting:

It is easy to write sincere articles online that describe all the troubles that our war hero’s have to go through. However, sometimes pictures are worth far more than words. The facts are staggering when it comes to the amount of homeless veterans in America. There are 200,000 homeless veterans on any one day and up to 400,000 during any year. 94% of the homeless veterans are male and 3% are female. This is coming from the Veterans Administration estimate. The numbers could be even higher!

If you are still trying to determine if it is worth it to donate your car to help a veterans organization, look at the pictures and make the decision for yourself!

Why Should You Care About Donating Your Car For Veterans

The simplest answer is because they served for our country. They fought bravely to defend our country against evil dictators and tyrants. Unfortunately, the devastating affects of war left a lasting impression on many brave soldiers. Many soldiers returned to the U.S with physical and mental disabilities. Many veterans suffered from PTSD which controlled their quality of life. Due to their handicaps, many veterans were unable to find good jobs. Some veterans have a hard time functioning with their family and society. Eventually, many veterans are forced to live on the streets because they have no money and no place to go. In addition, the government does not offer enough assistance to keep veterans off the streets.

That is why your car donation is so important to the Vietnam Veterans of America. Just by looking at the images of our wounded veterans, you should see that they are desperate for more help. The next time that you walk by a homeless person where you live, remember that you can do something to help. If you have a older car or truck that you want to get rid of, donate the vehicle to the Vietnam Veterans of America. It would be great to put a smile on the faces of our veterans!

Car Donations Make Charities & Donors Smile

Car Donations Delivering Smiles

There is nothing better than the feeling after helping others. It can give you a sense of pride knowing that you helped someone in need. It could be volunteering at a soup kitchen or a food drive. It can be just as satisfying to help others by donating items such as furniture, clothing and cars that you no longer need. I know from experience that volunteering on the weekends at various charitable events makes me feel like I am making a difference in the world. It is much better than spending my time watching T.V. No wonder car donations are becoming so popular today in America.

#1 Reason To Donate Your Car To Charity

The number one reason to donate your vehicle to charity is that it helps someone in need. Car donation organizations give the proceeds of your car sale to the charity of your choice. Additionally, your donated car will be purchased by someone that needs a car to get to work or to drive their kids to school. It does not really matter if the car is older or unsightly. It is a method of transportation that will make their life easier. They may not be able to afford buying an used car from a dealership.

#2 Reason To Donate Your Car To A Nonprofit Charity

I hate cliches, but donating your car online is as easy as 1-2-3! Quite frankly, the car donation process is a total of 3 steps! Before you begin to donate a vehicle, choose what charitable cause to donate to. There are car donation programs that support homeless and disabled Vietnam Veterans, Purple Heart Veterans, homeless veterans, children, cancer research and animal shelters. Choose what cause is the closest to your heart.

Fill out an auto donation form online. You only need a title and free of all liens. The online form will also ask for the year, make, model and general condition of the car. Best of all, most nonprofit car organizations accept all type of vehicles such as trucks, vans, trailers, RV’s, boats and motorcycles.

Schedule the free pickup of your car donation. Schedule the tow of your vehicle at a time that is convenient for you. Remember, towing is free! Lastly, most car donation organizations accept donations nationwide. So it does not matter where you live in the United States.

Donate your car for a tax deduction. Lastly, car donations to charity are 100% tax deductible. The towing company will then give you an IRS tax deductible donation receipt. This is what all donors will need to use when they file their tax returns. The maximum that a donor can receive for a car donation is $500.

Conclusion: Donating Your Car Helps All In Involved

Donating your car can eliminate the annoying hassles of selling your car. If you have ever tried to sell a car, you know what I am talking about. Because of the car donation industry, you can get rid of your vehicle and never leave your living room. Additionally, you can help someone in need. There is so much to love about car donations! Be part of the success.

Yahoo Photo:Woman Cries

Nature has shown once again of how powerful it can be. No one has made more earthquake preparations than Japan. However, Japan did not plan on having the fifth-strongest earthquake in the world since 1900. However, the 8.9-magnitude made it the most powerful earthquake on record to hit Japan.

Thousands of natives died due to the massive earthquake. However, the devastation did not stop there. Due the irregular movements of the tectonic plate, the earthquake caused a tsunami. After the earthquake, waves as high as 10 meters rushed onto the shores of Japan causing even more fatalities and destruction. In fact, the community is flooded with dead bodies that the tide brought in. As of right now, experts estimate that 10,000 people have been killed.

Nuclear Power Plant Explodes Emitting Radioactivity

Japanese officials are now reporting that the Fukushima nuclear power plant has had two explosions and fear that another is imminent. Officials are confident that a complete meltdown of the nuclear reactors may occur.

Over 200,000 people have been evacuated from the surrounding area of the nuclear plant. U.S troops in a helicopter flying near the nuclear reactors are coming back with radioactive exposure. Army officials are hoping that the amount of radioactive exposure is at a minimum.

The pictures below from Japan tell the rest of the story. Make sure you watch the videos as well. They may make you cry!

www.CarsHelpingVeterans.org

This is one of my favorite pictures that represents a hot topic of conversation these days. It seems that everyone around me is talking about the high gas prices. In fact, car owners are discussing the increasing gas prices as much as teenage girls talk about Justin Bieber. By the end of the day, I find both topics to be quite annoying. The fact is that we can not do anything about the gas prices in America. The only thing we can do is deal with it and make intelligent decisions to compensate for the high gas prices. It does not matter where you live in America, the gas prices will be high. Experts are warning that the prices may continue to rise to up to $4.00 per gallon!

It seems that most people instinctively complain about the gas prices and fail to consider to resolve the problem. For instance, there is a Facebook page that is trying to get followers to stop the rising gas prices. Instead of wasting time complaining about the rising gas prices, why not donate your old car, truck, van or SUV to a worthy charity?

Donate your Truck

Sweet Bronco

Weren’t the era of the Ford Broncos great. The Ford Bronco started Americas obsession with SUV’s. It seemed that everyone had one. If you have an older vehicle such as a Ford Bronco that is getting only 13-15 mpg and you are unsure what to do with it, consider letting a car donation organization help you and a charity in need.

Old Ford Bronco

Unfortunately, reality comes back to bite us. Our beloved cars from the 80′s begin to age and look like the Bronco in the picture below. It can be frustrating to deal with an old vehicle. It can be a time consuming chore to sell a car or truck. However, you can end your frustrations by donating your vehicle. The proceeds of your car donation can help disabled veterans, the poor, cancer research, kids and even animal shelters. After a towing company picks up your car or truck for free, you are eligible to receive a tax deduction. While you will have to say goodbye to your vehicle, a less fortunate family will be able to purchase your vehicle at a price they can afford. The family may be able to use the vehicle to get to work! Your vehicle has the potential to help someone in need. Instead of spending $100 on gas weekly, donate your old vehicle to a charity of your choice.

Funeral For Fallen Soldier Brings Hatred?

In Girard, Kansas, family and friends held a funeral for Corporal Richard Bennett. Mr. Richard Bennett died in a helicopter crash as he served our country in Iraq. He was just 25 years old. However, the funeral was welcomed with a group of protesters that claimed God is punishing America for tolerating homosexuality. Protester’s claimed that homosexuality is evil. One protester claimed that “we should have left his carcass right in the ground.” This is outrageous. The only emotion I feel is sadness and a sense of pride knowing that we have brave citizens that are willing to sacrifice their life to protect our country. The protester’s claims make no sense! How is the death of a veteran relevant to homosexuality? Spread the word about this story so we can stop ignorant protester’s like this! Thank you to all the veterans out there that are helping fellow veterans!

Please watch the video above from YouTube. The video tells most of the story!
