Toyota Motor respond to recall vehicles

Toyota Motor Corp., the world's leading automaker which recently made recalls to nearly 10 million vehicle owners worldwide, made an announcement on Tuesday Feb. 23 that the company will install a brake override system in their new vehicles.

The installation of the new system is considered as a precautionary measure to avoid sudden acceleration amongst Toyota vehicles. Accordingly, this override system will be used to cut power to engine when brake and gas pedals in a vehicle are pressed at the same time.

Toyota said that the new brake override system will be put in its new vehicles which are purchased in America by the end of the 2010.

On Tuesday, a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's investigative subcommittee was held in which Toyota president in the United States James Lentz sent his apology to customers after the company made U.S. vehicle owners concerned about safety and reliability.

In that Tuesday hearing, James Lentz announced about the new installation in Toyota new models to the public.

Stating at the hearing, James said that the company hoped to regain confidence from its customers with this new standard equipment. He said the company is one of the first full-line manufacturers to give out such measure to guarantee the safe and reliable standards for cars and trucks.

According to the president U.S. operations, 2005 to 2010 Tacoma, 2009 and 2010 Venza, and 2008 to 2010 Sequoia models will also be installed with the new brake system. Before that, the Japanese automaker pronounced that the company would equip new devices for the 2007 to 2010 Camry, 2005 to 2010 Avalon, and the 2007 to 2010 Lexus ES 350, 2006 to 2010 IS 350 and 2006 to 2010 IS 250 models.

When asked about the cause for sudden acceleration in Toyota vehicles by House panel members, president James Lentz said that the company had studied and found that there was no error with the electronic throttle control system.

What a good day for us, GM has had something up their sleeves with the Chevy Volt which combines the benefits of a fuel burning car with the benefits of an all electric vehicle. Basically, how this car works is it features 4 separate electric motors – one for each of the wheels. Additionally, it features a small gas burning engine. However, the gas burning engine is not used to power the car directly but instead used to power the electric motors making for an extremely efficient ride.

General Motors announced today that it is beginning to take orders for the new Chevy Volt electric car. We reported about the Volt: GM’s Pioneering March to Alternative Transport and Energy, but at that time the exact price was not available.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price starts at $41,000. Once the full federal income tax credit is applied, the effective price goes down to $33,500. The federal income tax credit for the Chevy Volt ranges ranges from $0 to $7,500. The lease payment based on the sticker price would be around $350 per month for a 36 months lease with about $2,500 due at lease signing.

The Washington D.C. area is among four metropolitan areas to receive the first purchase-ready production Volts, including Austin Texas, New York City and California. Volts are expected to arrive at dealerships in Michigan, New Jersey, Connecticut, as well as the balance of Texas and New York in the first quarter of 2011. Additional markets will be added as production volume increases during the second model year, with Volt available in all 50 states 12 to 18 months after the initial launch.

Porsche 918 Spyder Green-Lit For Production

Today, the Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, gave the green light to series development of the Porsche 918 Spyder. Reflecting the overwhelming response from the public and customers to the Concept Study, the Supervisory Board gave Porsche's board of Management the mission to develop a production model based on the car already presented. This concept version of an ultra-high-performance mid-engined sports car with plug-in hybrid technology made its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and at Auto China in Bejing, hitting headlines worldwide.

Porsche has green-lit its futuristic hybrid, the 918 Spyder, for a limited production run. There is no word yet on when it’ll hit the showrooms, how many will be made or how much it’ll cost but Porsche have said that this information “will be made public in the coming months”. Most analysts are predicting a $650,000 USD sticker price for the hypercar hybrid. We’ll give you a moment to pick your jaw up off the floor…. All done? Before there is a slew of irate comments demanding an affordable hybrid that the every day Joe can afford let’s remember that this is Porsche and it’ll never be cheap to buy a Porsche.

The huge positive side to this announcement is that it’ll further encourage the development of advanced hybrid and electric car technology and it’ll also be a kick in the pants for automakers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin or Jaguar who are yet to announce a hybrid production model.

The original concept uses a 500 hp V8 coupled with twin 109 hp electric motors and a lithium-ion battery that can power the car off grid energy for 16 miles. The hybrid drive-train is said to be good for a combined 78 miles per gallon, which is pretty damn good when you consider that most supercars have trouble getting anything close to 15 mpg.

Ducati Xerox Cross-channel run.

The Ducati Xerox Team heads to the UK or, more specifically, to Silverstone, the only "new" track to feature on this year's World Superbike calendar, after a two year absence. The upcoming tenth round is also the last event before the championship's traditional month-long summer break.

The historic Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire, UK, has undergone some major restructuring during recent months and the track layout is now very different to that on which the Superbikes last raced in 2007. The last time Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio visited the English circuit, they experienced some particularly bad weather that resulted in the cancellation of Race 2. Race 1 went ahead as planned but heavy rain conditioned the outcome and while Noriyuki finished on the podium behind Troy Bayliss (race winner on the Ducati), Michel unfortunately crashed out. Haga has raced at Silverstone on five previous occasions, and has achieved seven podium finishes over nine races, an impressive record. Michel is yet to celebrate a podium finish at this particular circuit but he, Noriyuki and the entire Ducati Xerox Team are looking forward to the challenge that the new look track will present.

Noriyuki Haga has scored some impressive results at the British track in the past. "We haven't been to Silverstone for a few years but we've heard that they've made some great track modifications and I'm looking forward to going back there. I've had some good results there in the past, quite a few podiums from what I remember and it was always a track that seemed to suit my riding style. We'll have to wait and see just how much it's changed but I'm looking forward to the event and hope we can do well."

While Michel is also looking forward to riding the new-look track. "I've raced at Silverstone before of course but my results were nothing to write home about. With the changes to the track layout it will be interesting to see how everyone goes, I guess we'll all be starting on a level playing field, and so I am confident that we can put together two great races. I hoped to do better at the recent Brno round and so will try my best to take as many points as possible this weekend to improve my position in the overall standings."

If you know the designs of Citroen, you also know how they create stunning cars that stand out of the crowd.

This new C5 Airscape model is no exception to that rule as you might see from the pictures below.

The Airscape is a new Concept car from Citroen, but it is a car that really holds up to its expectation, just look at thos great lines of the body work.

Looking at some pictures you can also see that the car was build for High Performance and the specs alto tell you that it is enviroment frendly.

Even with its V6 HDi engine with a particulate filter and the ability to run on biodiesel.

Also the UrbanHybrid technology garanties low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

But I must also admit that I really don't like the brown interior, not even in the combination with brown tan cover...
Black would have made it a better design for me, than agian, design is an art and a personal view.. you like it or you don't.

The Renault DeZir Concept

Renault has provided a preview glimpse of its new concept car, DeZir, ahead of this year's Paris Motor Show. DeZir stands out as an illustration of the brand's commitment to more emotional styling.

DeZir's sensuous lines and bright red finish express passion. Powered by an electric motor, DeZir is proof that environmental concern and a love for cars are by no means incompatible.

The quest for EfficientDynamics has a long tradition in the development of BMW power units. And this philosophy is combined with numerous innovations giving BMW’s engine range truly unique appeal and popularity.

Introducing fully variable VALVETRONIC valve control in 2001, BMW presented an impressive technology offering a significant reduction of fuel consumption under everyday driving conditions even back then.

Also referred to as “throttle-free load management”, VALVETRONIC is now featured throughout BMW’s entire range of engines and has in the meantime proven its benefits in more than a million cars the world over.

BMW then took another significant step in 2004 with the introduction of the composite magnesium/aluminium crankcase on the straight-six power unit. From the start, this new engine combined 12 per cent more power with a reduction in fuel consumption by approximately 10 per cent. And the weight-saving is equally impressive, the composite magnesium/aluminium crankcase weighing only 57 per cent of a conventional grey-cast iron cylinder block and also about 24 per cent lighter than a comparable aluminium crankcase.

Fuel consumption remains very low despite these impressive figures, this sports diesel making do in the new BMW 535d with just 6.8 litres/100 kilometres in the EU test cycle, equal to 41.5 mpg Imp.

Hybrid concepts: moving forward to production standard.

The effect of Brake Energy Regeneration is described by engineers as “passive boosting” or, perhaps even more appropriately, “micro-hybridisation”. The medium-term objective in developing power units with EfficientDynamics is however to achieve even more effective interaction in the use of primary and electrical energy.

Precisely this kind of hybrid concept is currently being jointly developed by the General Motors Corporation, DaimlerChrysler, and the BMW Group. This is indeed a fully integrated combination of electric motors and a transmission with fixed transmission ratios, this two-mode concept, as it is called, serving to provide the most fuel-efficient driving mode under all kinds of load conditions. Such a hybrid car might therefore run either on its two electric motors alone, on the combustion engine alone, or with all power units for superior performance. And the hybrid transmission being jointly developed by the partners in this project might also be used on existing combustion engines.

The King of Spain is very nonconformist and he is traveling inside an Audi RS6 with black rims and chromed accents.

Juan Carlos, the King of Spain, is a car enthusiast and he is not hiding it, his personal garage counting not less than 72 cars. We expected the monarch to have in his garage Rolls Royce, Maybach, some collection Porsche or other rare models, but we didn’t expect the king to own the Audi RS6 torpedo.

And it’s not any RS6, but one custom made by Audi, with all the chrome rims and tinted, which gives not at all a matter of nobility, but a sport as possible and aggressively. As we see in the picture published in Diariomotor, flags attached to car side shows that this model is often used by Spanish official travel, which confirms what we knew already, that King Juan Carlos is eccentric as possible.

And we are not talking about any RS6, but one custom made by Audi, with rims and all the elements chromed and tinted, not giving at all that noble look, but one as sporty and aggressive as possible. We do not know exactly if it has a driver for the car with a Lamborghini V10 engine that produces 572 HP. Perhaps so, but he will miss all the fun of driving a car that in 4.5 seconds is reaching 60 mph. The King has a history of speed troubles as he was involved in an accident in the ’90s while he was driving a Porsche 959 in the Pyrenees.
