    <title>Aug 8, Card Making Ideas and Instructions | Origami</title>
    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CardMakingIdeasAndInstructions/~3/8MAIeTbHHKk/origami.html</link>
<description>For some people, origami is associated with fancy restaurant leftover food wrapped in a swan-shaped piece of aluminum foil, or a football folded up to be flicked through hands strategically placed like goal-posts. Paper cranes gently strung from the ceiling... well, you get the idea. The point is that origami can easily be incorporated in to your card making projects, as I'm going to show you with this project. For this particular card, we're going to create a cute origami shirt out of a piece of patterned paper.

<description>There are many, many different ideas for
what you can use in your card making. I don't want to overwhelm you, so
we'll start with some simpler techniques for Card Making.

<description>So you want some instructions for your card
making? Well where do I start? There's so much to consider: What kind
of paper do I need? How big do I make my cards? Where do I get images
for them? What do I put inside of them?

Background Stamping</title>
    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CardMakingIdeasAndInstructions/~3/D2hCE2-sU9A/sponging.html</link>
<description>This tutorial is kind of a 'two-fer'. You get to see two different techniques - sponging and background stamping - in one lovely little card. I had a question recently about how I had done a certain 'darkening' on the edges of some of the cardstock. And since this is one of my favorite little tricks I decided it was definitely time for me to show you how to do it. Because you will see me do it - a lot. While I was making the card, I decided I wanted to add a little bit of background stamping to it, so I threw that one in as well just for fun. And there's a little bit of masking going on here as well, so let's just consider this one big potpourri of great techniques!

    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CardMakingIdeasAndInstructions/~3/XMgU5jij9eQ/emboss_resist.html</link>
<description>Emboss Resist is one of those techniques that is a little bit of work, and sometimes messy, but in the end it's so worth it! It's similar to the Joseph's Coat technique but doesn't have the dark color of the black ink. And it makes for a very pretty effect no matter what kind of card you use it on.

<description>Bookmarks are one of my favorite things to make as gifts. They are great for teacher gifts, Mother's Day, or just as a nice 'thank you' to a friend who did something nice for you. And the great thing is that they are so simple to make, and so easy to create a bunch of bookmarks at one time. I particularly like using scrapbooking paper, because the patterned paper makes an automatically-gorgeous bookmark!

    <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CardMakingIdeasAndInstructions/~3/BamKtJed8t8/masking.html</link>
<description>Masking and omitting are great ways of leaving out the parts of an image that you don't want to use on your project, while keeping the parts you do want to keep. Kind of like tossing the squishy, shrivelled grapes out of the bunch and eating the juicy, firm ones.
Sorry for the mental picture there...
You can use this technique a number of different ways. I'll show you two today on this very simple, but very sweet, card.

it's a good starting point that will get you making cards with a lot of
things you probably already have around the house, or can pick up
pretty inexpensively. It will get you a solid start with the least
amount of investment. And I'll often tell you when something is a
nice-to-have rather than a must, and what alternatives you can find.

<description>Chances are pretty good that youve got some stickers lying
around the house somewhere. If you have small children or youre a
scrapbooker then I would be willing to bet money that you do! These are
great to add to your cards and give a quick and simple pop to any
project.

<description>You've got a beautiful card, but is the inside looking a
little lonely. Verses, poems, sayings and greetings are the perfect way
to decorate a bare-looking inner card. You wouldn't wrap a gift only to
leave the inside empty, would you? So unless you plan on gifting a set
of cards to someone else to use, make sure you put some kind of
sentiment inside of it!
