The three most important inventions of the 20th century

There is no doubt that the twentieth century is one of the most remarkable in history. This might be due to the great amount of gadges and discoveries that have been made. In fact, there were so many significant inventions in the last century that it is almost impossible to pick just three of them. After some reading and evaluating, I have managed to select three inventions from three different braches. So, these are the three most important inventions of the twentieth century ; the antibiotics, ARPANET and the airplane.

Until Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928, almost any bacterial infection was deathly. Once the antibiotics were invented they lowered the death rate due to bacterial infection. Due to antibiotics, we can now live longer and cure almost every known bacterial infection. Actually it is a wounder medicament whose only deficient is that the bacteria becomes resistant and not more treatable. After all, antibiotics can can cure bacterial diseases and extand our life span.

In 1969, the U.S department of defense created ARPANET, a network that was used for contermeasures in case of a nuclear attack. Two years after the creation of ARPANET , Norway and England joined the network. After this expantion, the concept was used to create the social internet for everybodies use. Today the internet greatly changed the way we communicate and is indispensable in our lives. Therefore, the internet is the most important invention of the twentieth century.

The powered, contolled airplane was a significant invention made by the Wright brothers in 1903. This concept made it possible to commercialize airplanes with contols and a motor. The benefits of this were tremendous. People were able to travel around the world within a matter of hours. These airplanes were also useful for emergencies where the time factor is important. As a result, you can truly say that the powered airplane is one of the greatest inventions of the twentieth century.

Based on the information, we can say that the twentieth century truly was one of the most remarkables. Mainly, because of the large amount of discoveries that have been made. Due to this fact it was hard to pick just three inventions. After all, the antibiotics, ARPANET and the airplane were the most impacting inventions in our history. In fact, every single one of these inventions changed the entire world. At the end, it is the human beings intelligence and our perseverance that made all of this possible and now it is our turn to change and mark the world.

How Pollution Affects The Environment

Over all the past years environmental problems haven´t been much of and issue. It is now after suffering the first effects of the environmental problems, that the environment has become a theme of interest. Many facts and theory has been established about this particular topic since it is affecting the live on our planet more and more. After further investigations there have been discovered three main pollutions that affect our planet. The main pollutants are air pollution, water pollution and land pollution.

The air can be contaminaded in multiple ways weather by harmful gases, smog or inceneration. This air pollution affects more the plants since it disturbes the process of photosynthesis and causes therefore the death of the plant. Clime change is also something that affects directly the plants and animals by changing their vegetation and pushing them to new habitats that don´t cover all their needs. Global warming which is caused by greenhouse gases that absorb the sun heat and reflect them back to the earth´s surface without leting them out to space affects many animals that are used to live in colder regions since they have to manage to live in new terains. At the end, any sort of air pollution affects not just the humans but also the plants and animals.

Water pollution is the contamination of large water bodies.This contamination is not only causing problems to people but also to animals, fishs and birds. Once water is polluted it poisens animals and complicates recreation. Acid rain is another of the major problems for the ocean, because it affects the acidity of the water and damages the fishes and other aquatic animals. At last the water is the main alimantation and therfore the contamination it causes so much destruction.

Land pollution is the destruction of land caused by junk and chemicals. Pesticides have realy caused many problems in the environment because thanks to the weather they traveled miles and miles away. They even have been found on the antartik. The bat thing is that some birds eat crops with this chemicals and die. In other cases this chemical is found in the ocean because of precipitation and are than taken in by the gills of the fishs. Therefore pesticides are destroying the earth and animals.

Now we have learned that there are three basic pollutions. Every single pollution has its devasting effects on earth, plants and animals. The presence of harmful gases, smog, chemicals and junk in our ecosystem are the main reason why all these pollutions are affecting our system so much. Finaly it is our complete lack of judgment that made this destruction.

Smoking can kill you

Many people around the world , most of them smokers , know the most common smoking risks like lung cancer, mouth cancer, and throat cancer, but they don´t know why this and other diseas shows up. In order to understand why a cigarette causes all this diseases, we have to understand " what is in a cigarette ". Then we have to understand that a cigarette causes also other illnesses which are related to the arteries. Knowing that smoking causes lung cancer, mouth cancer and throat cancer is good, but knowing that there are actually more cancer types than it seems is even better. As a result what we have to know about smoking and cigarettes, is more than we actually expected.

There are several components of the cigaret that explain why it is so harmful. First of all, a cigaret has about 4000 chemical substances and 400 of this are toxic. The most harmful toxins being tar and nicotine. Tar is a carcinogen which means that it causes cancer and nicotine is a chemical substance which is adictive and increases the cholesterol level. In conclusion, the presence of multiple chemical substances and toxins explains why a cigarette is so harmful.

Artey diseases illnesses we didn´t expected. The nicotine present in the cigarette increasese the cholesterol levels in the arteries and narrows the blood this is called atherosclerosis. This narrowing concluds in a obstruction and causes than different types of artery diseases the most common being coronary artery disease and cerebral thromposis. Coronary artery disease and cerebral thrombosis are the result of a clog of a artery which than concludes in a heart attack or a collapse respectively. In short nicotine isn't just addictive and increases cholesterol levels but it also causes artery diseases.

These are some of the reasons why cigarettes cause cancer. The well known mouth cancer and throat cancer are types of cancer that are caused due to damages by the chemical substances (carcinogens) contained in the cigarette. Kidney cancer and lung cancer on the other hand are caused due to the filtering of harmful toxic substances from the cigarette. Also the carcinogens present in the cigarette smoke can damage the DNA of our body which than concludes in pancreas cancer. Therefore, many of the cancer reason are due to the presence of toxic substances and carcinogens which are cancer causing substances.

Now we can take the right decision in our live after knowing the facts. Now that we know how many chemical substances and toxins a cigarette contains. Now that we know how many unimaginable diseases smoking causes. It is now after knowing that it causes more types of cancer than we expected, that we can take the decision. As you can see, what we realy have to know is more than anyboby tells us.
