Small business owners tend to approach this aspect of their companies with uncertainty, frustration and avoidance. The primary reason is because it’s foreign territory. Having an attorney on retainer to handle those aspects of running a business can often mean the difference between success and failure. And business attorneys take a special kind of pride in knowing they’ve played a role in saving a small business that definitely has its place in the community and beyond. lawyer and founder says another reason some lawyers prefer this line of work is that it allows them to indulge in their sense of structure and desire for perfection – both of which are necessary to effectively represent a client who wants to succeed with his own brand.

From the small contracts with vendors to developing a foolproof method of documenting petty cash purchases, business and tax lawyers have one goal: protect their clients from legal repercussions from those verbal contracts and poorly constructed agreements. your specialty is whatever your business is in, whether it’s selling apples and bananas to housecleaning services to selling automobiles, you want to focus on those areas that you feel most passionate about while leaving the legalese to the educated and experienced attorneys.

Another way a business attorney can help you protect your investment is by advising you on and compiling employment contracts. Employee manuals are another level of security that allows you to spell out clearly and succinctly the expectations of those whom you hire. Failing to put into place what’s required to remain employed with your company could be leaving you open for lawsuits by disgruntled former employees who are out to “make you pay”. You want to be sure to address your zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment, drug use and anything else that you consider a “deal breaker”. Legal representation can make that happen while not leaving you vulnerable, says the LegalAuthority.com founder.

So how do you find the right lawyer? Ask around your community and discover which attorneys are thought of in positive light. This often yields your best choice quickly and easily. Also, consider contacting your state’s bar association for referrals. This is another superb source for making a solid legal decision. Remember, the attorney who successfully negotiated a deal for your neighbor when he hurled a cup of beer at the umpire during last summer’s baseball season might not be the best choice for helping you establish and grow your business.

You’ve worked hard to build your business. Allow an attorney who’s worked just as hard in his legal career to help you help yourself. Most business owners, and certainly small business owners, have dreams of one day passing the family business down to their children. You want to be sure there’s something to be passed down.

The Best Summer Jobs for Teens

As many of America’s teens gear up for fun in the sun this summer, many more are hitting the pavement in search of summer work that will allow them to earn their own spending money. With so many still attempting to recover from the recession, many parents have laid the law down: no job, no money. In fact, some parents are even insisting their teens find part time jobs to keep them from settling in on the sofa in front of the Wii unit. It’s a rite of passage and most of us can recall our own part time jobs during our teen years. Some of us may have bagged groceries while others may have learned everything they ever wanted to know about deep fryers in their local fast food restaurant. But what in a more modern day? Are teens still scrambling for these types of jobs or have far better job descriptions entered into the mix? The Hound.com founder offers his two-cents on some of the best and more interesting summer jobs for teens:

    * No summer job list would be complete without including the always in demand lifeguard positions. Fair warning, teens: you will definitely need to be certified in CPR and other safety courses. Allowing the iPhone to distract could prove very dangerous, so be sure you’re willing to commit to the attention such a position requires. It is Highly recommends contacting your local YMCA or community center for information on how to get the proper certs. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
    * Camp Counselor – Always a favorite, camp counselors work along side the directors and become a part of the fun and excitement of younger kids. Whether it’s rowing a boat to the middle of the lake, to teaching your charges how to properly wear a life jacket to hanging out around the campfire, the excitement of these kids is contagious. This is a great job if you have the patience and ability to keep your priorities straight. It’s a great way to make a difference in a kid’s life, too. Plus, because you’re in the sun, no need to keep your account at the local tanning booth.
    * A used book store can introduce you to a whole new world. Before you conjure up images of bookish nerds, there really are a lot of journeys you can take, courtesy of a thick hard cover novel. Not only that, but knowing who wrote Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil just might come in handy some day. Assume nothing – give this job option a fair shake.
    * Finally, if you have a creative flair, consider taking a summer job as a landscaper. Sure, the weather’s warm this time of year, but for those with creative abilities, there’s nothing better than being allowed to run with that creativity when it strikes.

There are a lot of great summer opportunities out there and they’re yours for the taking. Take pride in all that you do – it’s a great lesson for adulthood.

Legal Facts And Figures

The findings of the Bureau of Justice are always interesting. They point to various trends and can even enlighten us to where law enforcement and the legal field as a whole is headed. The data is closely monitored and compiled by the government agency and then reported to the public upon its conclusion. One can easily glean information regarding the number of new prisoners for any state, how many cases were tried with a jury present and how many defendants opted for a plea bargain and the reports can provide an accurate glimpse at how taxpayer dollars are being spent on housing those convicted and sentenced to state and federal prisons. A. Harrison Barnes, attorney and LawCrossing.com founder says many in the legal field follow these statistics closely and for good reason; it’s one of the more accurate documents that provide detailed information as well as national averages for everything related to this particular sector.

Here are just a few of the latest findings, courtesy of the Bureau of Justice:

    * Local governments are spending more with each passing year on what’s referred to as “criminal justice direct expenditures” than state or federal agencies. Further, that gap continues to widen.
    * In FY 2006, there was an overall 5.1% increase of expenditures for police protection, judicial and legal activities. The national total was near $214 billion. This, says A. Harrison Barnes, is one reason more are choosing the legal profession as their chosen careers. Law schools watch these statistics closely, as do various district attorney’s offices and legal firms.
    * Legal services cost state, local and federal governments $46 billion in 2006 while $68 billion was spent on and within corrections.
    * The cost of legal services is growing in record numbers. There was $178 billion spent on “justice expenditures” in 2006. This record breaking number is again, indicative of the growing need of those who choose law as their careers.
    * More than half of all legal authorities, including law enforcement officers, attorneys and prosecutors are employed on the local level.
    * Between 1997 and 2006, justice employment on all levels, including local, state and federal levels, remained “relatively stable”, even as every other number and dollar figure grew. This, says the LawCrossing.com founder is alarming, considering the rapid growth of all the other figures.
    * Police protection accounts for the vast majority of all employees in all areas of the law. This includes jailers, police officers and those who police courthouses throughout the country.

These are just a few of the figures that tell the tale of the American justice system. Always revealing, they are an accurate portrait, painted by the law makers and law breakers in our society. These statistics are available for public viewing on the Bureau of Justice Statistics Employment and Expenditure page.

One of the most notable of which is called ShortTask. The system was designed with both buyers and service providers in mind. Referred to as Seekers at the website, those looking to hire someone for a job can rest assured that there is no shortage of qualified, talented professionals standing by to get it done for you.

The bad news is that with so many hyped up websites that fall short when it comes to living up to their claims, it can be hard to find a suitable option. But the good news is that there are some reliable, trustworthy and effective systems on the Internet that allows you to find the work you’re looking for or to hire the person you need to get the work done.

Referred to as Solvers at the website, those who are looking to find work using their talents, education or passion have an opportunity to hook up with people looking to pay someone for their services. This enables Solvers to pick and chose the jobs they want without being forced into projects they have no interest in.

The best part is that there is never a need to sign contracts or to feel obligated to hire someone on for the long term. This means that you can count on ShortTask for projects of any size and just about any nature like marketing agency jobs, technical jobs and writing jobs just to name a few examples.

This also means that being paid to do tasks for others couldn’t be easier! Seekers simply browse the system of available projects and choose the ones they want to get paid for.

Do New Hires Equate to New Work Ethics?

Why do some people take their careers more seriously than others? Why do some of us place a bigger emphasis on ethics and doing the right thing in the workplace? And most importantly, are there fewer of us who are maintaining those high ethical habits, whether it’s a sense of defeat by those who really don’t care or a simple exhaustion because of the past few years spent in an economic recession? These are important questions and ones we asked A. Harrison Barnes, career coach and founder of EmploymentCrossing.com, a career site dedicated to aggregating all of the most recent jobs found anywhere in the U.S. His insight tells the tale.

Perhaps it’s less about work ethics these new employees are exuding, but instead, is about the sense of good things that await them. “New employee or seasoned salesman who’s nearing retirement age: ethics are ethics and they simply don’t waver to any great degree throughout our careers and our lives in general”, says A. Harrison Barnes. It’s important to not confuse someone’s core ethics with their approach to their employer. It’s a big difference. The ethics will remain in place, regardless of who the employee reports to. It’s those outside influences that determine how enthusiastic a new employee is – and how long he maintains that enthusiasm.

Much research has been made into how employees and employers interact at different times throughout one’s career. What initially begins as a common respect for one another and the tasks at hand, there often exists a parting of ways months or years later. “It’s important to keep in mind we’re talking about humans – capable of fear, worry, anxiety, happiness and stress”, says the EmploymentCrossing.com founder. Our work related values will wax and wane over the years; that said, it’s those foundational ethics that really define the sum of our careers. New employees come into a new working environment with a sense of pride and commitment to do good things as a member of their new team. They’re ambitious, hopeful and energized by what lies ahead.

“Many of the employers on the EmploymentCrossing.com website know this and as a result, they know when a potential employee comes before them for an interview that their ethics or lack of them will shine through. This is one reason why a “connection” is important during an interview. Companies want to know their candidates are personable and have the ability to make eye contact, to converse and keep a great outlook during meetings with clients.

Bottom line is companies will choose those employees who have the experience, education and positive commitment to the job they’re being considered for. Their ethics, though not one hundred percent of the time, will shine through usually during the interview phase. Anything an employer can’t glean from the face to face meeting will most often be discovered as the resume is reviewed and references are contacted. If ever there was a reason to not burn those bridges or opt to do the wrong thing because it was easier, this is it.

So Many Lawyers Unhappy, Why?

The American Bar Association recently put out a new survey that revealed up to one half of this country’s lawyers are miserable in their career choices. The reasons were varied, but the survey suggested it’s a combination of the long work hours, the pressure from partners to raise the bar in terms of the number of hours they bill and the stress that never seems to ease up. There’s something else interesting, too, says A. Harrison Barnes, lawyer and LawCrossing.com founder. Many attorneys are wanting more. There’s been a definitive, but subtle, shift among many attorneys across the country. They’re looking for more fulfillment than they are bigger bank balances. Surprised? The LawCrossing.com founder isn’t. “For years, lawyers have plugged along, working incredibly long hours and sacrificing much of those things in life that give us meaning. They told themselves that they’d slow down after they became partner or struck out on their own; before long, their dreams for the future come full circle and the financial rewards began flowing, but they were still unhappy”. And as Barnes says, for some, this process took a decade or more.

But is this really any different than other careers that folks grow tired of? “What sets the legal profession apart – along with other careers that require a major financial and time commitment that college demands – is that they feel as though they have to recoup some of those investments; if not for themselves, then for the parents who shelled out years of savings to send them to law school. Their only repayment they ever expected was to be able to say during their weekly bridge games, “My son’s a lawyer” or “My daughter’s a judge”. Really, who wants to take that from their parents?

Finally, the suffering many lawyers witness in their clients can quickly become tiresome and even depressing. Ask any lawyer, and odds are, he’ll tell you his goal was to use the legal profession as a way to do good, to give back and to make another’s life better. That’s frustrating when the very field you’re working is the reason you can’t make that difference.

Another interesting finding is that more women than men are feeling the blues. “They’re bored”, says A. Harrison Barnes. Both men and women must be aggressive, competitive, detached and adversarial, but it grows more tiresome than women – and in a shorter amount of time. Couple the boredom of the day to day goings on, and before long, a deep resentment begins to emerge that is absolutely exhausting.

While there are many who wouldn’t trade their legal careers for anything, there remain those who wish they were doing anything but. They’d change a courtroom for a mail room any day of the week.

Introverts in the Workplace

As a writer, the topic of introverts in the workplace has a certain appeal, mostly because it’s quite familiar. It can be difficult for an introvert in the workplace, especially if the job requires a lot of interaction with co-workers. There are many misconceptions about those who prefer to work alone and who might even have a problem delegating tasks. Most introverts this writer has ever known has a sense that everything must be done in a certain order, in good time, and in an organized manner. Organization means the fewer hands in, the better the finished product. While that might not be true for all introverts, it’s certainly relatable by even those who are anything but. A. Harrison Barnes, career coach and EmploymentCrossing.com founder says introverts are often unfairly labeled as being antisocial, too quiet, entitled and one who keeps important information to themselves. That’s not the case, though. With that in mind, we’ve attempted to address a few of those misconceptions in an effort to bring about a harmonious workplace. Introverts and extroverts can work well together, provided there’s give and take.

The personal lives of an introvert, for many extroverts, would feel more like a slow death. Introverts like the quiet of home and often, the weekends mean a couple days of playing by their own rules and their own rules mean 48 hours of creative bliss with few interruptions. Sunday nights are the worse for many introverts. It is exhausting work as the hours wind down and the psychological aspect of realizing Monday morning is nearing comes full circle, says A. Harrison Barnes. “For an introvert, facing the work week is not something they look forward to. It has nothing to do with being anti social, but rather, it’s more about knowing they lose a sense of defining their own parameters for at least forty hours”.

The biggest problem introverts face in the workforce is that they are too often viewed as unapproachable. Because they flourish in a quieter environment, where their thoughts can guide them, a traditional office setting can quickly become overwhelming. Introverts don’t mind having lunch alone. They don’t see it as being excluded and those who they work with shouldn’t see it as a slight.

Another trademark of the introvert is his or her resistance to share ideas until they’re confident they have merit. While strategy meetings serve a great purpose in any project, don’t expect the office introvert to toss out ideas just to hear himself speak. The introvert is quietly taking mental and written notes and is considering the dynamics of the project itself. It has nothing to do with concerns that another will still her thunder, but rather, it has everything to do with not wishing to waste anyone’s time (or unnecessarily shifting attention to themselves) with an idea that’s weak.

“Rest assured”, says the EmploymentCrossing.com founder, “introverts are powerful team players, they’re just not as vocal as their co-workers. They’re great listeners and they catch those details and nuances that others might miss and in a traditional team effort scenario, that is invaluable”. A common respect is the best tool an introvert and extrovert can share while working together – it’s the way things get done.

Education Reveal's New Department

For anyone graduating college over the past few years, you know how overwhelming student debt can be. And, if you’re like most, you’re banking on the new career to help clear that debt – some faster than others. A. Harrison Barnes, career coach and Hound.com founder, tells us about a new chart, courtesy of the U.S. Department of Education, that shows the repayment rates for every college, graduate school and even job training program within the U.S. The numbers were pulled from the debt loads of every single student who either dropped out or graduated college between 2004 and 2008. Read on – you might be surprised at what’s what, says the Hound.com founder.

Going south, you’ll discover the University of Mobile, a private Christian school located in Mobile, AL reported only about 33% of the students who owe money are making payments of any kind (and payments of $1 are counted in the “repayment” column). Other schools with lower repayment ratios include Grambling State and Fisk. Liberty University, recently announcing its new management system, reports a repayment ratio of 45%, says the Hound.com founder.

More than 90% of Cal Tech graduates were paying on their loan balances, as were those who graduated from Christian liberal arts Dordt College. Generally, says A. Harrison Barnes, nursing programs, those schools with Christian foundations and surprisingly – liberal arts students – were more likely to remain committed than some others. For Dordt and Cal Tech, the average financial total was around $33,000 per student. For those students who were carrying more than $50,000 and making efforts to pay down there debt, odds are, they attended Williams, Lafayette, Gettysburg and Colby. U.S. News reports those schools offer impressive financial aid programs.

Ah…but things aren’t always as they seem. It’s important to keep in mind that those who went on to graduate school and hadn’t begun making payments yet (and won’t until they’ve completed grad school) are considered, for purposes of the poll, to be in the “no pay” column. A few deans report that students are indeed making payments – on time and every month, but are only making the minimum payments that did not cover any of the principle on their loans, but they too are being counted as non-payers. Barnes says it’s important to keep perspective.

As with surveys of this magnitude, there are bound to be those who disagree with the algorithms used. Still, despite any slight imperfections or fluctuations, the big picture is clear. The bad news is there likely will no cuts to any school’s tuition. Costs have been on the rise for decades and that trend is likely cemented into place. Barnes says the key to repaying student debt is to maintain consistency. And quite obviously, we are adding more content on the internet with each passing today – only to save it for future reference at a click of the mouse button (or touch of our finger!). ‘Jobs’ is currently one of the most searched keywords anywhere on the planet. People want jobs and they are looking towards the internet for getting them. The truth lies somewhere where most don’t tread or think about!

The fact remains that jobs only will come to you, if you have your presence felt on the internet; it is give-and-take or, love-and-hate relationship – as you would like to call it. The better your presence is felt on the search engines, the better are your chances to get that job. Therefore, optimizing the search results for your benefit is the need of the hour. Before getting hold of the list of job search engines, it would be a better decision, if you could start working on your internet profile by following the mentioned steps:

    * Go Professional: Agreed that a unique name attracts the best search results, but then your prospective employer won’t be looking at the ‘uniqueness or coolness quotient’ in your email/profile ID. Rather, a professional approach works the best and often gives the best results. One problem though arises is that, getting on top of the SERP list in a situation where others are also vying for the honors!
    * Google Helps: Google is a free resource that you can use to make money as well as make your presence felt over the globe. The best part of the search engine is that you can actually search anything, including yourself. Do it; get a lowdown on where do you stand on the Google SERP. The reason why Google is being given so much of importance is because it is the world’s single largest search engine that is used by almost everyone!

In case you don’t appear near the top, don’t fret but embark upon a plausible solution. The best way to getting to the by making your presence felt is by interacting more online – better comments, airing your voice on issues that matter, blogging and using other social networking tools will surely work to enhance your position on the results page of every global search engine!

    * Top Job Sites: As you enter the online arena of jobs, you must make a list of the top job search engines before anything else. After you do that, you can study the sites, edit and upload your resume accordingly. One important thing to notice is that some sites are good at providing specific jobs. In case your qualification and experience matches their criteria, structure your CV accordingly and waste no time in uploading that.

By setting all the resources and foundations in place, you can now be sure to get a much better response than you ever did.

100k Plus Best Job Site On The Internet

So you have tried it all, have you? This is because a pharmaceutical company depends majorly upon the effective working of its sales representatives. These sales persons are vested with the duty of door to door campaigning. They fix appointments with different doctors and make it a point to personally visit them and explain to them the benefits of the medicines that their company has been producing.

Thus in essence, the task of the pharmaceutical sales representatives is to increase the market share for their company’s products. The work of the pharmaceutical sales person needs to be carried out in adherence to certain strict code of conduct. That is to say, these people cannot indirectly tempt the doctors into prescribing their brand of medicine such as by taking them out for dinner and then footing the bill etc. Therefore all that these people are entitled to use are their persuasive tools of carrying forward a conversation coupled with statistical data to convince the doctors how their medicine is better and more effective than their competitor’s.

Since the physicians are themselves too busy to keep themselves up to date regarding the latest medicines to have hit the market, therefore it is the duty of these sales representatives to carry forward the news to them. They not only brief the doctors about the new brands of medicines but a good a sales person convinces the doctor to prescribe these medicines to their patients. It is an effective way of marketing medicines since the doctors themselves remain too occupied to study the medicine market and find out on their own how effective the new medicines have turned out to be.

There are two types of sales representatives who work in the pharmaceutical industry:

    * One who specializes in medicines needed to cure a particular disease
    * And the other, who are assigned the work of marketing all types of general medicines to general and family practice physicians.

The pharmaceutical industry has place for a lot of people since it involves work at the grass root level. Not only can you opt for the post of sales representative, which is practically the lowest rung of the professional ladder in this context, but you can also choose the option of managing the trainee sales staff, if you feel that you are good with handling managerial responsibilities. Apart from these two, you also have the chance of trying for the post of pharmaceutical sales executive. These are the people who come up with sales strategies for the company and assign different work to different people depending on their merit.

So, you see that sales pharmaceutical job opportunities are aplenty- you just need to keep a look out for them!
How To ?

Education is something as necessary to the society as is food and clothing. Mankind has realized its importance over time and there has been a constant striving to improvise education. It thus does not come as a surprise that education today has a tremendous commercial value. The field is now more than just a noble initiative of some scholars. It sees the transaction of billions of dollars every year. Some even consider it as one of the most profitable and rewarding endeavours. Teaching jobs today are not only available in plenty but also do they offer you handsome pay cheques. If being a teacher was what you dreamt of, trust me there could never have been a better time than this.

One must however realize that an elementary teaching job is quite different from a college teaching job. To be a favourite amongst the little kids you’ll need more than just knowledge. You will need to be a quite friendly and yet strict person to handle a teaching job in elementary school. There are many ways to be a successful teacher but the secret lies in excellent communication skills. It’s very essential that a teacher speaks well and makes himself clearly understood to his pupils. Listening is also another essential virtue of a good teacher. To make your pupils understand it is very essential that you listen to them and answer their queries. Try to make lessons fun for your pupils. If the lessons are interesting with the information remaining intact it ultimately becomes easier to cope up with on the part of the students. Practical exercises are always considered more interesting than that of theoretical classes.

For international teaching jobs it is very essential that you have a good deal of knowledge about foreign languages and foreign culture. One must be up to date with all the recent happenings and the progresses in various fields like art and technology. Elements of common sense like geographical knowledge of the area you work in climate, holidays and also some knowledge about the famous people of that particular country is very essential for success with teaching jobs abroad.

Educational institutions are mushrooming in huge numbers all over the globe and there is thus a huge requirement of teachers for both the junior and senior students. The subjects you teach are no more centred on just science, arts and commerce. There are many rather interesting subjects like art and craft, music, dance, etc. Most of the new endeavours offer you private school teaching jobs. The pay they offer is generally better than their government counterparts.

Patience is another key requirement of a teacher. You must understand that your student is not at par with your knowledge and that it will take them some extra time to understand what you understood in a second. Also every student is not a quick learner. You need to have patience with all of them and be sure of being their favourite. Being a great teacher is not the toughest job on the planet. Just be dedicated and you’ll sure make way for a rewarding career.

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CareerAdviceJobAdviceCareerPlanning/~3/Zi6u1aAspUE/be-great-teacher-how-to.html" title="Be A Great Teacher. But they also require their own disadvantages. There are many ways in which you can ascend the steps to quickly become a highly paid and respected successful marketer. But there is one thing that you need to keep in mind regarding this.

The basic strategy is the same in all marketing jobs. There are three steps to this strategy. Firstly you have to produce a product or service. Then you have to identify the needs and desires of the customers. The third step involves your being able to punch those needs in your marketing strategy of the product or service. Now how you do this is up to you, which is why there are a lot of doors to marketing employment.

Job Profile

Jobs in marketing require you to take up a generic product or even a service and then designate a brand name to that product or service. Between the development of the product and its sale, is the marketing department. There are many departments in marketing. This includes sales strategy, media planning, public relations, advertising and the like. The job of a marketing professional is not only to develop and manage brands; he is also in charge of enhancing those brands. The main reason to develop a brand is that customers do not get stuck with the high price of a product, but look beyond it, to its advantages. In fact, a good marketer would be able to create such a brand name for the product that people will look even beyond its functions. This can only be done if you understand the preferences, needs and even the constraints of a customer. The customer is again defined by a target group or market niche that corresponds to the brand. How do you know which is the target group? This process is called market research. This is also the task of the marketer.

Growth

Marketing careers have unlimited growth potential. This is because this is one field which is required in every sector, in every company. No matter how small or big a company is, no matter what it sells, whether it is in the private or public sector; it will always require good marketers for its products and services.

There are many sectors which provide for excellent work in marketing.

    * Market Research
    * Brand Management
    * Advertising
    * Promotions
    * Public Relations

People looking for careers in marketing can join any of these fields. However they will have to begin at the very base level, which might include an internship at a company or volunteer work for a sector. All of this goes really deep and helps you to build up marketing careers for future. It is not necessary for a person to be a marketing graduate all the time. He can be a graduate from any discipline having excellent communication skills and ability to foresee problems and work out their solutions. So if you think you have all these qualities, if you are ambitious and persistent, then a career in marketing might just be the right career for you.

Top Marketing Careers Option

The top marketing careers are those that allow you to make the best of your time and ambition. They are challenging and for people with a zest for problem solving and excellent communication skill, these top ten marketing careers are the best suited.

Advertising
This is one of the fastest growing careers in marketing. If you have a good imagination and know the market inside out, then you could definitely opt for a marketing career in advertising. The main goal of this kind of job is to motivate people to buy your product or service.

Public Relations
This is another top field in big marketing careers. A PR Officer is required to represent a company and handle its reputation. He does this by good relations with the media and the clients. If at any point of time, the company does something that causes bad publicity, it is the duty of the PR Officer to take care of the dirt and shine the tarnished image back.

For instance, they might study why some people go for one particular car instead of another company’s car. This is done through statistics, surveys, “new product analysis” and focus groups. Quantitative data is collected and analyzed to determine how to sell products better.

Market Research
This is probably one of the most important sectors of marketing. It is not possible to think of marketing without this sector. The basic work of marketing is done by market research. A market researcher evaluates why people would buy Company A’s products instead of Company B’s products.

Brand/Product Marketing
One of the top marketing jobs is product marketing. The main job of a product manager is to map the development, advertising and marketing, growth and profit of a product line. A product manager has to organize promotional events for their products and services so that they get feedback from their customers so that the products are understood better.

Retail
If you are talking of top marketing careers, then it is very difficult to write without mentioning retail. The last decade has been solely dedicated to the development of retail marketing. There are many sectors in this kind of marketing which include store management, buying, product promotions and merchandising.

Promotions
This is another area of top marketing employment. It is similar to Product Marketing, except that they are strictly concerned with the promotions of various products and services only.

Marketing Management
This kind of marketing career requires you to be in constant touch with your customers and map their changing tastes and preferences. This career is both challenging and rewarding.

Online Marketing
Websites play a very important role in retail marketing. One of the top retail marketing websites like eBay is an example of an online marketing site. They are good companies to build up careers.

Network Marketing
If you want to be your own boss and yet have money kiss your feet, then this is probably one of the best careers for you. Network marketing lets you sell you own products, services or concepts and make money while you are at it.

Non Profit Organizations
The top marketing careers as mentioned above allow you to gain a lot of money and popularity. However if you want to make a difference to the community while you are at it, then this sector is meant for you. NGOs, hospitals, colleges and libraries fall under this sector.
And for getting heard, you need to do quite a bit with your communication and diplomacy skills. The proper way of addressing your boss, is by being polite as well as convey the ‘concern’ in your tone in the most subtle yet catchy manner!

When you can communicate employee concerns well enough, you stand a good chance of being actually heard by your boss. It is logical that your boss or supervisor won’t be showing as much concern as you’re especially when it is you who is in the thick of things.

Here are the best ways by which you can be assured of getting your boss’s attention as well as getting the serious employee concerns addressed.

    * Choosing Time: Choose such a time to communicate with your boss when they are free. You could easily read through when they are acting busy (in reality they are actually not!). Thus choose a time when you can communicate freely with your boss and put before them your concern. When it is an emergency, look no beyond than getting heard ASAP; here too you need to keep calm and wisely communicate your concern.
    * Written Notes, emails, etc: Unless you have an agenda that you’ve forwarded to your boss, you might not be even considered. Then in such a case, there comes the need for proper documentation with valid points that you can bring to the notice of your boss. Keep in mind that such documentation may go against you; therefore use a very professional and diplomatic tone to highlight your concern and bring that to the notice of your boss. That way, it also helps your boss to prepare a schedule for you – not to mention the bonus cookie points you earn by being a step ahead!
    * Logic Prevails: Granted that the situation calls for more emotion than logic, still you have to take sides with logic. The idea is to calmly and logically convey the idea to your boss and at the same time not being subjected to ‘raised’ eyebrows when trying to address your boss with serious employee concerns. Addressing employee problems is the job of a boss but that breed seldom wants to put their head into!
    * Make Notes: Notes with timeline bulleted points will help you appear rational and also keep a track of what to speak and what not. Making notes when taking your concern to the boss also shows to him – your sincerity and dedication. Needless to say, it will also make your statements appear rational and logical. Notes can be also made for a quick referral when putting forward your employee grievance.
    * Follow Up: Follow up is very essential when you’re communicating through proper documentations. Do not lose track of the mails that you’d received and sent. Also prepare minutes, abstracts and summaries of such conversations which deem fit. Keeping a trail of documentation always helps more than expected!

How to Learn Good People Skills

The definition of a ‘good’ person varies person to person. But when it comes to good people skills and characteristics, a unanimous nod is given to the following personality skills:

    * Humor
    * Politeness
    * Cheerful Nature
    * Gratitude
    * Optimist
    * Positive Attitude
    * Friendly Nature
    * Open to All

A personality with these skills is highly regarded in social as well as in all other walks of life. No wonder, these people are quite successful! It is the way; they define their success rather than success defining them. It is their pleasant persona that charms all including women! Gaining good people skills is not something that can be bought or acquired overnight but they are learnt and gained from experience more than anything else.

There are no top ten ways to learn people skills, but a combination of them serves the best. There are different ways of learning these good people skills. The best ways are given below:

    * Keep Your Eyes and Ears Open: As already mentioned, a person with a pleasant persona is open to all and is open to discussions and positive criticisms. You can also be one of them by keeping your senses alive, up and running. Most of us keep our senses only in ‘working’ condition. Whereas the people we are talking about here keep their senses well oiled and running. They are sharp observationists – one characteristic that separates them from the others!
    * Read More: Contrary to what others might think, good people read more and read in depth. They try to acquire knowledge and then implement the learnt knowledge. The action is so spontaneous that it hardly feels as if they have learnt. Actually the fact is that, they themselves do not know that their subconscious mind has received new inputs from their good habit of reading. Read books that influence you. Watch good movies and take a critical view of what you see and feel. Gradually you will find the ‘good’ persona coming out and pleasing all!
    * Speak Less, Listen More: The greatest achievers are the best listeners- they talk less and listen more. There is a subtle difference between hearing and listening; hearing refers to the process of only letting the audio signals reach your ears but listening means that you learn from what you hear. You’ll be then in a position to analyze rationally. Being social is different from keeping to yourself. A social person might not be as talkative as you might take them to be!
    * Observation: Become a keen observer. Again, you’re making full use of your sense of sight. You’re merely not watching but processing and analyzing what you see. Coupled with the audio-visual perception – you can be sure at mastering good people skills; in fact great people skills! Observing the people closely whom you admire also gives you a chance to learn from them. Keep an open mind like that of a student – always eager to learn!
    * Self Introspection: When you start imbibing new things and characteristics in your persona, you also need to have a little bit of self introspection. Self introspection will give you the chance to become the good person that you always desired to become!

Tips to Communicate Well in an Office

What is meant by ‘communicate well’? It straight away means effective communication skills that need to be acquired when you’re in an office and working. The language should be as professional as it can get as well as clear and not ambiguous. How you communicate in your office also defines your character and makes way for you to rise on the promotion ladder.

Here are the top ways to communicate well in an office:

    * Be Clear: One of the top pre-requisites of communicating well is to communicate clearly. Many a times, the proper message is not conveyed due to some limitations in your conveying methods. You must sound important but not so much that you sound completely out of context. Do not make mistakes in communication especially when you’re in a professional work-sphere. The secret success formula of communicating well is how lucidly you convey your message without any ambiguity!
    * Know Your Audience: Knowing your audience will help you to communicate in a better manner. For example, a pure technical person will understand the language of technology only rather than expansive management talk. In case you do not properly know your listeners, communication will become a hindrance. Do not let the hindrance bottleneck your communication skills. Becoming an effective communicator should be your main target.
    * Notes and Documents: Keeping proper documentation in place will help you refer to them in order and thus communicate those things only that you want to. This keeps out any chance of ambiguity since you know what and how much to speak. Notes and documents also serve as a reminder for you – you’ll know your priority better and segregate the work accordingly.
    * Language: Whatever language you use to communicate at office; one thing that you must be sure of is – it should be strictly formal and official. Remember, there is absolutely no chance for any loose talks. Therefore think before you speak out. Pronunciation is also important keeping the language usage in mind.
    * Motivator: A good communicator is a great motivator. To keep your people interested, you must motivate them. Motivating those means to work with them and show a picture of inclusive growth and reward sharing. Always maintain a pleasant smile on your face while communicating – keep your audience mesmerized and impressed by the sheer weight of your talks!
    * Leader and Mentor: Leaders are not born but made. Your communication skills make you a leader. More often than not, people have a desire to be leaders but they do not exhibit the leadership skills of which the most important is effective communication ability. Your colleagues will always look forward to your help on everything that they are stuck with. People need a mentor and what better than that mentor is you and guide all with the power of speech?
    * Use Technology: Technology has come to the aid of communication. More interestingly, the technology and innovation today hovers around communication itself! There has been an honest attempt to improve communication between individuals and groups. Use such tools as frequently as possible. Office communication is not Greek!
