What is Allahabad Bank?

History of Allahabad Bank spreads over three Centuries - Nineteenth, Twentieth and Twenty-First. It was founded on April 24, 1865 by a group of Europeans at Allahabad and was nationalised on July 19, 1969, along with 13 other major commercial banks. Since from that time till today, it has moved places – in 2006, it ranked 14th among 60 Indian Banks and 6th among Nationalized Banks.

Engineering Entrance Exam List with exam dates

This blog post for engineering aspirants in India follows an earlier blog article on Entrance Exams for Indian Engineering colleges titled: Admission Process for Best Engineering Colleges in India, which not only gives you the lists of 75 best engineering colleges in India, but also tells you what is the admission process/entrance exam for these very good engineering colleges.

While compiling the list of the entrance exams for these colleges, I had told you that you should try to appear in as many entrance exam as possible - as no one can assure you that best engineering college / stream seat, till the result is declared and counselling is over.

Therefore to help you in making your decision which engineering entrance exam to go for, I had analysed and compiled the exam dates of all the major engineering entrance exams in India. The result is as below:

List of engineering entrance exams of which the exam dates for the year 2010 has already been announced:

As you can see above, excepting SUCEE, entrance exam dates for all the Institute-specific engineering entrance exams - 2010 have been announced.

List of engineering entrance exams of which the exam dates for the year 2010 has not been announced so far:

As you can find above, all of these are Common Entrance exams conducted by states - no wonder that is why the exam dates for the year 2010 has not been announced so far. They are likely to be held more or less around the exam date of the year 2009.

From above engineering entrance exam list, you can find that there are broadly two categories of entrance exams - Institute-specific & State-specific. For appearing in state-specific entrance exams, you need to have studied in that state. You can find more about the eligibilities by going to the state common entrance test links posted at the end.

So from the exam date schedules given above for the engineering entrance exams, I would advise you to appear in AIEEE (if you think IIT JEE is too tough for you!) as well as appear in the state-specific common entrance test. COMEDK is another good option, as it is open to all Indian students and the merit required is also not so high.

Admission Process for Best Engineering Colleges in India

Students aspiring for a career in engineering are in a dilemma at many of the times – which engineering colleges to go for and what are the admission processes for these colleges? This blog post is dedicated to these students (as well as to their parents/guardians to guide them).

At first let me tell you that the term “Best College” is always so controversial – the surveys for ranking the colleges are done by many organisations and the methodologies used by them also vary from one to another. However, we can safely conclude that among the top-rung colleges, the rankings itself would not differ that much – since the good colleges are always good, regardless of whether they occupies rank 1st or 75th.

Therefore, I narrowed down my search for the best engineering colleges to the ranking done by Outlook-GFK-Mode Survey-2009, which had published a list of top-75 engineering colleges in India in June 2009. You can find the survey statistics along with the methodology here.

What are the admission process/name of the entrance exam for these 75 best engineering colleges in India? I had a hard time finding the answer to this question, as websites of many of these best engineering colleges either does not have an “Admission” section or “Admission” section is poorly maintained with little information. You can find the list of these 75 best engineering colleges below, along with the name of the entrance exams. You can visit the admission section of the college websites directly by clicking on the name of these engineering colleges.

In the college list, you would find name of more than one entrance exam for some of the engineering colleges – the reason being that certain percentage of admission is done on the basis of one engineering entrance exam, while the rest are done through another entrance exam/based on merit. For instance, in Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), 15% seats are admitted for outside-Delhi Region candidates through AIEEE, while remaining 85% seats for Delhi Region candidates is done through CEE, Delhi. Also (G) denotes Govt. college while (P) stands for Private colleges.

NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam Pattern, Sample Papers & Books

This blog post follows my earlier blog post titled “NTPC Careers for Diploma Trainee: Notification, Eligibility & Forms”, which gives you introductory information on the NTPC test as well as how to apply for the same.

The focus of this blog post is to help you prepare for the NTPC Diploma Trainee Written exam by telling you what the NTPC test pattern is and by giving you the sources to download NTPC model/sample/past years papers. Further, it would also give you the list of available books for preparation of NTPC exam.

At first let us begin this by knowing NTPC written test pattern.

NTPC Diploma Trainee written test pattern:

NTPC written test consists of a two hour paper with objective type questions. The paper has two parts: Technical & Aptitude. While the questions of Aptitude test is common, questions of the Technical test would depend on which among the four disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, C&I) you belong to.

Part-I (Technical) of NTPC Written test paper consists of 68 & Part-II (Aptitude) consists of 32 objective type questions. Thus there are 100 total questions to be answered in 120 minutes.

Notes of caution: There is negative marking: 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. So if you make a guess, make it wisely!

For Aptitude test, the questions asked are of type Test of reasoning, data interpretation.

Sample/model/previous years paper of NTPC Diploma Trainee test:

I had searched for the NTPC papers on the net, but could not find any paper exclusively for NTPC Diploma Trainee Exam. However, NPTC recruitment website would display some sample questions for NTPC Diploma Trainee Test nearer exam. You can find these sample questions here.

Also, I feel that although written exam for NTPC Diploma Trainees would be little lower standard than that for Executive Trainees , it is worth to have a look at following sample papers for NTPC Executive Trainee exam:

All the above papers should be used with a pinch of salt – I found many of them repeated in more than website and also, for the technical test, where as you can find test papers of Electrical, Mechanical & Electronics were abundant, but papers of other streams is not available.

NTPC Diploma Trainee Salary:

Salary being offered by NTPC for these Diploma Trainee jobs is Rs.6700/= as a consolidated stipend for the one year training period. After successful completion of the training, you would be absorbed in pay-scale of Rs.6700-3%-11750 (scale due for revision since 01.01.2007)

NFL MT Exam Pattern:

NFL MT Recruitment selection process consist of a written test followed by Interview. Not much has been given in the NFL MT Recruitment Notification other than that the written exam would consist of following section:

General aptitude, Analytical capability.

Technical/professional knowledge.

But based on previous years papers, NFL written exam should consist of 50% Aptitude & 50% Technical/professional knowledge (i.e. questions from your own discipline).

What are Agriculture Field Officers?

What does a Bank Agriculture Field Officer do (i.e. job content of a Bank Agriculture Officer)?

The job of a Bank Agriculture Officer is to promote rural lending in general and agriculture lending in particular for various schemes of Government (e.g. Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojna, Swaranjyanti Swayrozgar Yojna etc.) and also other schemes of the Bank.

The work of Bank Agriculture Officer includes: to mobilize, process / appraise the loan proposal pertaining to Agriculture & Allied- Agriculture activities and recommend sanction thereof. This requires customer prospecting, customer acquisition, pre loan-sanction visit/field inspection, verification of revenue records, credit appraisal, loan disbursement & post loan sanction follow-up/loan recovery.

For this they need to interact with farmers at grass roots level to spread information about the credit facilities being extended by the bank as well as interact & sensitize the concerned Government officials’ viz. Revenue officials, District Agriculture Officer, Panchayat Secretaries & Village Sarpanches.

Allahabad Bank AFO Selection process:

Allahabad Bank selection process consists of a written test (Objective + Descriptive) followed by Interview. To be selected in written test and called for the Allahabad Bank AFO Interview, you have to score minimum qualifying/cut-off mark of 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC) in aggregate.

Allahabad Bank AFO Written exam pattern:

Allahabad Bank in its recruitment notification has not specified much about the Written exam pattern, other than that the exam is going to consist of following Objective & Descriptive papers:

Allahabad Bank AFO Objective Test sections:

Test of Reasoning.

Quantitative Aptitude.

General Awareness.

English Language.

Allahabad Bank AFO Descriptive Test section:

Professional Knowledge.

Allahabad Bank in its recruitment notification, has not has not said anything about how many questions are going to be asked in each section and what would be the mark distribution. However, it says : you are going to be sent an ‘Acquaint yourself' booklet along with the call letter, which is supposed to contain more info about the AFO Written exam.

But till that time, you can have a fair idea about the Allahabad Bank AFO Written exam pattern from a Bank of India (BOI) PO exam pattern, which had similar section of papers. The recent BOI PO written test consisted of a 300 mark (2 hours duration) Objective paper and a 100 mark (1 hour duration) Descriptive paper with following section-wise distribution of marks:

How to prepare for Allahabad Bank Agriculture Field Officers exam?

You can apply for Allahabad Bank AFO positions only online. Also, although the same Allahabad Bank online form is used for applying for the post of Agriculture Field Officers (AFO) & Probationary Officers (PO), you can use the form only for applying to only one of the posts and not both.

But before you go on to apply online for Allahabad Bank AFO, you need to have a valid e-mail id. Also you have to pay the Allahabad Bank AFO application fee – which is Rs.400 for GEN/OBC candidates & Rs. 50 for SC/ST/PC category candidates.

BITSAT study material: Exam pattern, Sample papers & Books

This blog post follows an earlier blog article on BITSAT exam, titled: BITSAT 2010 Notification, Eligibility & Forms, which tells you when BITSAT 2010 notification is coming out, where to find it, what are the eligibilities for BITSAT 2010 as well as how to find those application forms.

The focus of this blog post is on providing you the study materials for BITSAT exam: the exam pattern, sample papers and prep books for BITSAT.

BITSAT 2010 Exam pattern:

BITSAT is an exclusively online entrance exam – there is no paper/pencil version of BITSAT. You have to appear the exam in one of the twenty BITSAT test centres (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad Campus of BITS, Chandigarh, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Gurgaon, Coimbatore, Indore, Kolkatta, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada).

BITSAT is a Computer Based Test (CBT) but is not an Internet based online test, which means you can appear in the exam only at those test centres.

BITSAT is a 3 hour long exam with four paper sections of total 150 questions, 450 marks as below:

Each BITSAT question is of 3 marks and there is negative marking: -1 mark for each wrong answer. You can skip any question and come back later again to answer the same.

For very meritorious among you, BITSAT has bonus questions: if you can answer all 150 questions within time (i.e. without skipping any question), you can opt to go for 12 extra questions – four question each from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, each question of 3 marks with negative 1 mark for wring answer.

But once you opt for bonus BITSAT questions, you can not go back and review those first 150 questions!

How much to score in BITSAT 2010 exam?

There are 2000 seats on offer (800:Pilani, 600:Goa & 600:Hyderabad). So your goal must be to stay within the top 2000 students. Which BITS institute or which stream would you get if your score is say “X”? Read in detail about it in my previous blog article titled:BITSAT 2010 Cut-off: Institute-wise/Stream-wise.

BITSAT 2010 Cut-off: Institute-wise/Stream-wise

How much do you need to score (i.e. the cut off) to get a seat in BITS Pilani or for that matter BITS Goa or BITS Hyderabad? This is the most asked question by any one who plans to appear in the BITSAT – the entrance exam to these three BITS institutes. Also after you have appeared in the exam, the question which automatically comes is: If my score is “X”, which streams would I get in this BITS institute?

This blog post focuses on answering these questions – with past data on BITSAT cut-off scores (from BITSAT 2009-2007) vis-à-vis BITS Institutes vis-à-vis Streams.

If BITSAT sounds strange to you, you may go through my previous blog post titled: BITSAT 2010 Notification, Eligibility & Forms, which introduces you to BITSAT and tells you when BITSAT 2010 notification is coming out, where to find it, what are the eligibilities for BITSAT 2010 as well as how to find those application forms.

At first let me tell you, none can tell you the cut-off score for the BITSAT 2010 for sure, till the examination is over and the result is declared. BITSAT 2010 cut-off score for any BITS institute or for any stream would depend on the relative performance of all the students who appear in BITSAT-2010.

But you can always have some idea based on past BITSAT cut-offs. And I present this to you to make your own judgment in two ways:

1.0 Institute-wise/Stream-wise BITSAT cut-offs: This would give you some idea about the cut-off scores required to get a specific stream in a specific institute.

2.0 BITSAT cut-offs wise Institute/Streams: This would give you the idea – if you score this much, which institute/stream you can expect.

1.0 Institute-wise/Stream-wise BITSAT cut-offs:

BITSAT cut-off scores for BITS Pilani (from BITSAT -2006 to BITSAT-2008):

You can make your own judgments from above data. I find that for the same branch, BITS Pilani needs the highest BITSAT score, followed by BITS Goa and than by BITS Hyderabad. Also, in the same institute B.E needs higher BITSAT scores than M.Sc.

2.0 BITSAT cut-offs wise Institute/Streams:

Following cluster-wise data from BITSAT-2008 tells you, if you score (say from 275-299), which institute/stream you can expect:

BITSAT 2010 Notification, Eligibility & Forms

Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan is one of the premier-most engineering colleges in India, with ranking even better than some of the IITs. Outlook-GFK-Mode 2009 Survey ranks it as 6th top most engineering college, even higher than IIT-R, IIT-G & IT-BHU.

BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) is the entrance exam conducted by BITS in May-June every year for admissions to three of its campuses – BITS Pilani, BITS Goa & BITS Hyderabad. (BITS has a 4th campus – at Dubai, admission to which is based on overall aggregate secured by the candidate in the qualifying exam and is not based on BITSAT).

BITSAT is very competitive, as per BITS 2008 data, 1,16,980 applied for 2000 total BITS seats ( 800:Pilani, 600:Goa & 600:Hyderabad). Source: BITS Campus News. That means, less than 2 applicants in every hundred only manages to get a seat in BITS (acceptance rate is 1.71% to be precise).

BITSAT is also unique as it is a totally Computer Based Test (CBT) – you have to appear in 20 BITSAT test centres – there is no paper/pencil BITSAT test.

BITSAT-2010 notification has just come out today and this blog post tries to tell you about the notification, the BITSAT eligibility and the BITSAT application process in a nutshell. BITSAT-2010 Notification:

Like every year in middle/3rd week of December, BITS Pilani has brought out the BITS notification today and you can click here to download the BITS 2010 Exam Notification-cum-Information Brochure.

Some of you may be wanting to appear in BITSAT 2011. What could be the BITSAT 2011 exam date? BITSAT has maintained a consistency of exam dates in the last three BITSAT exams as can be found from the following analysis of BITSAT 2007, 2008 & 2009 exam dates:

As you can find from above, BITSAT 2011 form is likely to start along with the notification in the 3rd week of December. Last date of BITSAT 2011 form submission is invariably 31.01.2011 while the BITSAT 2011 Online test is likely to be held in between May early second week to June second week for a period of 45 days. You can book your BITSAT online date slot in any between any of these days. Based on the three previous years BITSAT exams, following dates for BITSAT 2011 is forecasted:

Last date form submission: 31/1/2011

BITSAT 2010 Online Test dates: 10/05-10/06/2011

I would come up with the exact dates as and when the BITSAT 2010 notification comes out.

BITSAT-2010 Eligibility:

BITSAT eligibilities are stiff: to appear in BITSAT, you need to score minimum 80% aggregate in PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) in your Class-12th exam. Also you should have at least 60% marks in each of these three subjects individually.

You can appear in BITSAT 2010 only if you are going to appear your Class-12th final exam in 2010 or have already passed the same in 2009.

If you are a first rank holder in Class-12th of any central or state board, you would be able for direct admission to the programme of your choice, irrespective of your BITSAT-2010 score.

BITSAT-2010 Forms:

BITSAT 2010 Online form has already come out and you can click here to find the BITSAT 2010 Online form.

How to apply has been spelt out very clearly in section: "8. How to Apply:" in page 4-6 of the BITSAT notification.

After submitting your BITSAT form online, you have to take its print-out and send it along with the BITSAT application fee to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani – 333 031.

You can also obtain the BITSAT 2010 Offline Form from the Admissions Office, BITS, Pilani by sending a request on plain paper giving your name, gender with complete postal address, accompanied by a crossed demand draft for BITSAT application fee. The completed BITSAT Offline form has to be sent to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani – 333 031.

AIEEE 2010 Exam Pattern/Format, AIEEE Paper Anlysis

If you are an AIEEE aspirant appearing in AIEEE 2010 or later, you would definitely like to know what is the pattern/format of AIEEE exam: – what are the AIEEE papers, the type of and number of questions asked and the mark distribution in various sections of the individual AIEEE papers. The focus of this particular blog post is to precisely give you this information on AIEEE papers.

AIEEE-2010 exam Pattern:

AIEEE is conducted as an entrance exam for two different streams – Engineering streams (B.E/B.Tech) and Architecture/Planning streams (B.Arch/B. Planning). There are two separate AIEEE papers (Paper-1 & Paper-2) for the two streams, which are held on the same day.

AIEEE Paper-1:

For Engineering streams (B.E/B.TECH), you need to appear in AIEEE Paper-1. The paper consists of objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, with equal weightage in each subject. AIEEE Paper-1 is a three hour exam from 0930-1230 Hours.

In the AIEEE 2010 notification, not much has been said about the exam pattern - how many questions would be asked and what is the mark per question. It merely states that there are 3 papers - Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with equal weightage, to be answered in 3 hours and that there is a negative 1/4th mark for each question.

But you can find some idea about how many question would be asked in AIEEE 2010 from the following exam pattern of AIEEE-2009:

As you could find from above, in each subject there were 6 questions of 8 mark each, while the rest 24 questions had 4 mark each - totaling 30 questions with 144 marks in each subject.

On the other hand, in AIEEE 2008, there were 35 questions in each of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with 3 marks per question - 105 marks in each subject. But I assume that AIEEE 2010 to be following the pattern of AIEEE-2009.

You need to remember that there is negative marking in AIEEE papers – for every wrong answer, 1/4th mark would be deducted. So you need to make your guesses wisely. If you are not fairly confident, better to leave the question alone.

Are the questions tough? No. not so much really if you see the AIEEE sample questions which were taken from actual AIEEE exams from AIEEE-2002 to AIEEE-2009. AIEEE Paper-2:
For Architecture/Planning streams (B.Arch./B. Planning), you need to appear in AIEEE Paper-2 which consists of three parts
Part I: Mathematics –Objective type questions
Part II: Aptitude Test – Objective type questions.
Part III: Drawing Test –Two questions to test drawing aptitude

The test is conducted on the same day as AIEEE Paper-1 from 1400-1700 Hours. The Aptitude Test is designed to evaluate candidate’s perception, imagination, observation, creativity and architectural awareness. Not much information is available on internet on sample AIEEE paper for B.Arch./B. Planning.

What is the question pattern of AIEEE papers?

While preparing for your AIEEE exam, you would like to know what is the mark distribution in AIEEE papers among each individual subjects – like in which unit of Mathematics paper, how many questions/marks were asked.

Above is a screenshot of the AIEEE-2009 exam analysis by Career Launcher which says you precisely that – from which units of which AIEEE subjects how many questions were asked in AIEEE-2009 vis-a-vis AIEEE-2008. This helps you tremendously to know where to put more weightage.

While going through these analyses, you need to bear in mind that over the years, number of questions and also marks per questions have changed in AIEEE exam. While in AIEEE-2009 there were 30 questions, in AIEEE-2008 there were 35 questions and in AIEEE-2007 there were 40 questions per subject. But however above analysis gives you a good understanding on which area to put more emphasis on in your preparation for AIEEE-2010 exam.

AIEEE 2010 Online Forms: How to apply online

This blog post is being made together with AIEEE 2010 Forms: How to apply offline, so as to tell you about both ways of applying for AIEEE-2010 exam - offline and online. If you ask for my personal preference, I would have chosen to apply online for AIEEE (or for that matter any other exam). Why? Because, I can do it anytime within the last date from the cool comfort of home/school/office/cyber cafe. Also, there is no chance of losing the form on transit, if I had asked for the form through post. What if I do not know anything about internet? I would have taken the help of a net-savvy friend!

Having said so, let us begin to explore how to apply online for AIEEE exam. AIEEE-2010 notification has come out (Click here to know about the AIEEE-2010 notification) and now you can apply online to AIEEE-2010 only from 16.11.2009 to 31.12.2009. How does the AIEEE-2010 online form look like? See from the screenshot below):

Before applying for AIEEE-2010, you must at first check if you have the eligibilities for appearing in AIEEE. Click here to find the AIEEE eligibilities.

How to apply online for AIEEE exam:
At first, read the instructions on how to fill AIEEE online application form. You can find these instructions on online application process of AIEEE-2010 by visiting this link.

AIEEE online application process involves following three steps:

1.0 You need to open this online AIEEE form and submit the details required. A registration number is generated after successful submission of the online form. This number should be noted down, as it is required along with your Date of Birth for entering your AIEEE fee payment details as well as for printing the Confirmation Page.

2.0 Make the payment for AIEEE fee and submit the details as shown below:

3.0 Take print out of the Confirmation Page, as shown below, paste your two recent photographs, sign and send it along with the Demand daft (for AIEEE application fee) to following address:
Assistant Secretary (AIEEE), Central Board of Secondary Education, PS 1-2 Institutional Area, IP Extension, Patparganj, New Delhi-110092.
Last Date of Online submission of AIEEE-2010 form is: 31.12.2009
Receipt of completed AIEEE-2010 forms by post at CBSE, Delhi: 05.01.2010

Remember, the form has to be sent only by Registered/Speed Post (NOT BY COURIER). Before sending, make photocopies of all the document being sent, including the Confirmation Page, Demand Draft etc. Also keep the original receipt of postal dispatch issued by the Post Office properly, as you may need them for requesting duplicate AIEEE admit card.

What is the AIEEE application fee?
For appearing AIEEE in India:
1.0 For appearing in BE/B Tech only: Rs. 450/- (General)/OBC, Rs. 225/- (SC/ST).
2.0 For appearing in B.Arch./B Planning only: Same as above.

For appearing AIEEE abroad in two centers - Riyad & Dubai, the fees are as below:
1.0 For appearing in BE/B Tech only: Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC, Rs. 500/- for SC/ST).
2.0 For appearing in B.Arch./B Planning only: Same as above.
3.0 For appearing in both BE/B Tech & B.Arch./B Planning: Rs. 1550/- (General), Rs. 775/- (SC/ST).

You can pay the application fee in following four ways as shown:

If you pay the AIEEE fee through Credit card, the bank will charge an additional 2.25% service/processing charges on transaction.

If the payment is made through Demand Draft, the draft should be made in favour of “The Secretary, CBSE” and payable at “Delhi”/ “New Delhi”.

What after submitting the AIEEE-2010 forms?

You should receive AIEEE Admit Card about four weeks before the examination date from CBSE, which would be sent “Under Certificate of Posting". If you do not receive the AIEEE Admit Card by 6th April 2010, at first check online whether or not your AIEEE application form has been received by CBSE. This can be checked by viewing the status of your AIEEE Admit Card online.

How to request for Duplicate AIEEE Admit Card:

You should write/contact the CBSE giving details of the Post Office, date of dispatch and following documents:

1. Photocopy of the Application Form with two photographs (as pasted on the Application Form, one duly attested by Principal of your institute or by a gazetted officer),
2. Proof regarding remittance of fee (photocopy of the Demand Draft),
3. Original receipt of postal dispatch issued by the Post Office.
This request for issue of duplicate AIEEE Admit Card should be accompanied with a Demand Draft in favour of "Secretary, CBSE" payable at "New Delhi" of amount Rs.50/- as fee and additional Rs. 30/- as postal charges for outstation (non-Delhi) candidates.

Duplicate Admit Cards would be Issued/dispatched by hand from 10.04.2010 to 25.04.2010 and by post from 10.04.2010 to 20.04.2010.

AIEEE 2010 Offline Forms: How to apply offline

AIEEE-2010 notification has already come out (Click here to know about the AIEEE-2010 notification). Many of my young blog readers and parents of AIEEE aspirants have been asking me from where and when can they get AIEEE-2010 application forms and also how to apply for AIEEE-2010. Therefore this blog post is being written to let you know how to apply offline for AIEEE-2010.

My experience tells me that there is hardly any difference between AIEEE form application processes in the last three years. Therefore, future AIEEE aspirants (like AIEEE-2011/2012) can also use these information to know how to apply offline for AIEEE-2011/2012.

Before applying for AIEEE-2010, you must at first check if you have the eligibilities for appearing in AIEEE. Click here to find the AIEEE eligibilities.

If you are eligible to appear in AIEEE, you can apply for the exam in two ways: Offline & Online. The focus of this blog post is on How to apply offline for AIEEE-2010. How to apply online for AIEEE-2010 is being covered in a separate blog post.

How to apply offline for AIEEE-2010:

At first you need to know where the AIEEE Offline forms are available. You can get these offline application forms two ways: requesting and getting the forms through post and by collecting them personally.

AIEEE-2010 forms through post:

You can obtain the AIEEE Information Bulletin-cum Application Form through post by sending a request letter, along with a self-addressed envelope of 12” x 10” size and a bank draft for AIEEE application fee (Rs.500/- for General and OBC Category and Rs. 275/- for SC/ST) to "The Assistant Secretary (AIEEE), Central Board of Secondary Education, PS 1-2 Institutional Area, IP Extension, Patparganj, New Delhi-110092". If you wish to appear both BE/B Tech and B.Arch./B Planning together, you have to send additional fee in the form of Demand Draft of Rs. 300/- for General & OBC and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST.

Last date for receipt of your request for AIEEE forms at CBSE Delhi is 10.12.2009

What is the AIEEE application fee?

AIEEE application fee BE/B Tech only or B.Arch./B Planning only is Rs. 450/- for General and OBC candidates and Rs. 225/- for SC/ST candidates. For appearing in both papers (i.e. both BE/B Tech and B.Arch./B Planning) you should send your application along with additional fee of Rs. 300/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST candidates.

The fee payment should be made in the form of a bank demand draft in favour of “The Secretary, CBSE” and payable at “Delhi”/ “New Delhi”.

AIEEE application fee for examination centre in foreign country (i.e. Dubai & Riyad):
For appearing AIEEE abroad in these two centers, the fees are as below:

2.0 For appearing in B.Arch./B Planning only: Same as above.

Collecting AIEEE-2010 forms personally:
You can collect AIEEE forms personally from three sources: i) CBSE Regional Offices and ii) CBSE AIEEE Designated Bank Branches and iii) CBSE AIEEE Designated Institutions.

In these form sources, you need to pay the AIEEE fee in cash. Also you need to pay an additional Service/Processing fee of Rs. 5/=, if you are taking the AIEEE forms from Banks and Institutions. Remember - you can get the forms from these sources only personally and not through posts.

List of CBSE Regional Offices from which you can get the AIEEE-2010 forms:
1. Regional office (Ajmer region), CBSE, Todarmal Marg, Ajmer-305001.
2. Regional office (Panchkula region), CBSE, sector – 5, Panchkula (Haryana).

5. Regional office (Chennai region), CBSE, Plot no. 1630-A, J-Block Anna Nagar, Chennai-40 (W), Tamil Nadu.

6. Regional office (Patna region), CBSE, 8th floor, BSFC building, Frazer road, Patna-800001

7. Regional office (Bhubaneswar region), CBSE, 6th floor, Alok Bharti building, Shaheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

State-wise list of AIEEE Designated Bank Branches and AIEEE Designated Institutions are given in page-20 to 24 of the AIEEE-2010 Notification (Appendix-IV). You can find from same in which places nearer to you, you can get the offline AIEEE-2010 forms.

What after you get the AIEEE-2010 forms?

Fill in the forms properly after going through “Appendix – V: Instructions for completing and sending the application form by post” of the Information Brochure. The form needs to be sent only in the CBSE envelope (provided with the Information Brochure) to the following address:

Assistant Secretary (AIEEE), Central Board of Secondary Education, PS 1-2 Institutional Area, IP Extension, Patparganj, New Delhi-110092.

Remember, the form has to be sent only by Registered/Speed Post (NOT BY COURIER).

BOI PO Exam pattern, Sample papers & Books

Bank of India (BOI) has recently issued recruitment notification for 1083 Probationary Officers (PO). You can find more about this BOI PO notification from the previous blog post of mine titled: Bank of India PO Notification, Eligibility & Forms.

This blog post intends to provide you the study materials for BOI PO Exam with analysis of Exam pattern and by giving you the sources of sample papers and books for BOI PO exam preparation.

BOI PO Selection process:

BOI selection process consists of a 400 marks written test (Objective + Descriptive) followed by a 100 mark Interview. To be selected for the BOI PO Interview, you have to score the minimum qualifying/cut-off marks described below as well as be on the top1/3rd merit position in your own category, as ratio of positions available to persons called for the interview is 1:3.

BOI PO Written test pattern:

BOI PO written test consists of a 300 mark (2 hours duration) Objective paper and a 100 mark (1 hour duration) Descriptive paper. Section-wise question and mark distribution is given below along with section-wise cut-off marks:

The minimum qualifying (i.e. cut-off) mark in BOI PO test is 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in each individual objective paper as well as 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in aggregate.

On other hand in the BOI PO Descriptive paper, the minimum qualifying mark is 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD).

Above table not only gives you the BOI PO cut-offs for the written test but also gives the same for Interview.

As you can see in the BOI PO Objective paper above, mark per question is 1.5. But there is negative marking in BOI PO written test – 0.25 mark for each wrong answer! So you need to make wise guesses!

Sample Papers for Bank of India PO Exam Objective Test:

You have three sections in this test: General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning.

I searched for books for Bank of India PO exam preparation and found with following results. They are available on most of the good bookstores. Bank of India PO Notification, Eligibility & Forms

Bank of India (BOI) has recently issued recruitment notification for 1083 Probationary Officers (PO). You can download this BOI PO Recruitment Notification by clicking here.

This blog post intends to summarize the important information contained in the above notification, while the subsequent one titled BOI PO Exam pattern, Sample papers and Books would give you the study materials for this exam.

But before that, let us know about Bank of India as an organization.

What is Bank of India?

Bank of India (BOI) was founded under private ownership on 7th September, 1906 in Mumbai and it was nationalized in July 1969 along with 13 other banks.

At present, the bank has 3021 branches in India spread over all states/union territories including 136 specialized branches. These branches are controlled through 48 Zonal Offices. There are 28 branches/ offices (including three representative offices abroad).

BOI PO vacancies/salaries:

There are a total of 1083 PO jobs (named as General Banking Officers by BOI) on offer in 3 scales of payment: Scale-I, Scale-II & Scale-III. While work experience is not compulsory for Scale-I, 3 years experience is necessary for Scale-II and 5 years is required for Scale-III.

Category-wise break-up of these BOI PO vacancies is as below:

BOI Salaries being offered: Basic Pay (due for revision) for these PO jobs is as below.

JMG Scale I: 10000-470/6-12820-500/3 – 14320 – 560/7 – 18240

MMG Scale II: 13820-500/1 – 14320 – 560/10 – 19920

MMG Scale III: 18240-560/5 – 21040 – 620/2 – 22280

BOI PO Eligibilities:

Age Eligibility: As on 01.11.2009

JMG Scale I: Min: 21 Max: 30.

MMG Scale II: Min: 21 Max: 33.

MMG Scale III: Min: 24 Max: 35.

Age relaxations exist as per Govt. rule.

Academic Eligibility/Qualifications: As on 01.11.2009

Minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in graduation from a recognized university. You can find the other eligibilities in detail in page-4/5 of the BOI PO recruitment notification.

BOI PO recruitment selection process:

Selection process for BOI PO recruitment comprises of 500 marks: a 400 mark written test (300 mark Objective, 100 mark Descriptive) followed by a 100 mark interview.

BOI PO Online form:

You can apply for BOI PO positions only online.

But before you go on to apply online for BOI PO, you need to have a valid e-mail id. Also you if you do not belong to any of the categories of SC/ST/PWD/Ex-service-men, you have to pay the BOI PO application fee – which is Rs.400. For SC/ST/PWD/Ex-service-men category candidates, the application fee is NIL.

To pay the fee, at first click here to download the BOI Fee payment challan. Take print out of it and pay the fee in any branches of BOI on or before 30.11.2009. When you pay the fee, the bank would give you a transaction number, which is to be entered in BOI online form.

BSNL JAO Exam pattern, Syllabus, Sample papers & Books

BSNL has just issued recruitment notification for 1000 Junior Accounts Officer (JAO) positions, details of which can be found in my previous blog post titled: BSNL JAO Exam-2009: Notification, Eligibility & Forms. This blog post intends to provide you the study materials for BSNL JAO Exam – with Exam pattern, Syllabus, Sample papers & Books.

BSNL JAO Exam pattern:

BSNL JAO selection process consists of a 450 mark written exam, which has two papers, each of 3 hour duration. Section-wise marks distribution along with duration is given below:

As you can see from above, Paper-II for subject of your specialization (i.e. Financial Management /Cost Accounting /Tax & Commercial Laws) contains the lion’s share of the total marks: 300 out of total 450. Hence your effort should be to score maximum in this paper.

Although the written test would be held in February/March 2010 at a national level, once when you are selected, you would be posted in one of the 26 telecom circles (given in page-10 of the notification), based on the five options you selected while submitting the BSNL JAO application form.

BSNL JAO Exam Sample Papers:

I had searched for the JAO Exam Sample Papers on the net, I could not find any sample paper exclusively for the JAO exam. Your preparation therefore must be based section-wise, finding the sample papers for specific topics.

Sample Papers for BSNL JAO Exam Paper-I:

Paper-I of the JAO exam consists of two topics: General English & General Aptitude/Awareness. You can find these Indian Bank PO exam sample papers useful for preparation of these topics, as it has similar sections and standard of questions is also expected to be same.

Sample Papers for BSNL JAO Exam Paper-II:

Paper-II of the JAO exam is your specialization subject specific: Financial Management /Cost Accounting /Tax & Commercial Laws. And bulk of your preparation should be based on the course materials you studied in your college days: CA/CS/ICWA/M.Com.

I am not very sure, but following two sources on net gives you sample papers which you may find useful:

Universal Teacher Publications:

It gives you five sample paper on Financial Management.

Symbiosis Center for Distance Learning (SCDL):

It gives some similar sample papers.

BSNL JAO Exam preparation book:

I could find only one book exclusive to BSNL JAO Exam: BSNL (JAO) Junior Accounts Officer Recruitment by GK publishers worth Rs. 360/=. You can use this book as your basic preparatory material.
