Ready, Set, Reinvent by Sheri McConnell
(Excerpted from Smart Women Know Their Why)

Reinvention. To remake or redo completely. Are you ready to pour your heart and soul into a business and then go back to the drawing board repeatedly? In my experience, you will need to reinvent your personal and business image, your website brand, your info-products and much more, every few years.

In business, reinvention is what helps you stand out against the competition. My hope is that the creative side of reinvention excites you as it does me. I need to reinvent to keep me interested. If I didn’t get to reinvent my companies, I would be completely bored with them and they would not be profitable at all.

Here are a few areas (and time frames) you should consider as avenues of ongoing reinvention. Remember that there is less competition at the top and you always want to lead.

Personal branding, such as your bio and pictures (minimum of once a year)

Complete update and redesign of website (minimum of once every two years)

Information products (minimum of once a year)

Product and service offerings (minimum of once a year)

Over the last 10 years, I have literally created hundreds of new promotions, reinvented my websites at least a few dozen times, updated my information products at least once a year, and reinvented my personal brand a few dozen times, too. My customers have always responded with enthusiasm and each time we upleveled our companies in some way, we always increased our revenues.

Simply put, your customers want to see you invest time and money in reinventing or updating your solutions in order to continually invest in you to solve their problems.

Are you a re-inventor?

When I reflect back on my life, I realize that reinvention has always been exciting to me and I believe is one of the reasons I have been so successful. However, early on, when I was jumping from one entrepreneurial adventure to another, I felt more like a failure than someone who was reinventing. For a few months each, I sold Avon and then Discovery Toys. As a single mom, I even started my own very profitable in-home daycare called, SMILES Learning Center. But my heart wasn’t in it and I kept finding myself back in start-up again and again in new businesses. Sound familiar, anyone?

Now, I get it, that reinvention is in my DNA. So, once you find a smart business model like I did, stay in that business model and pour all of your reinvention energy into that one business. That is how you achieve success.

Other hints of my “branding reinvention DNA” go as far back as first grade when I changed the pronunciation of my name to “Sher-ee” instead of “Sheri” (which is how it is still spelled today). My mom moved us a lot and when we moved to my new school, I just decided that when I enrolled again, I would tell them to pronounce my name a different way. It worked! And my mother, who was always in the middle of her bipolar chaos, just went along with it. Talk about early reinvention. I must have known intuitively that Sheri Lynn Keys just didn’t work for me.

Earlier this year, my inner circle client, Daria Boissonnas, e-mailed me and told me some interesting trivia about the way I pronounce my name now. She said it is also like the Hindu girl’s name “Shri” (pronounced “Sher-ee”), meaning luminous beauty. And it can also mean Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, light, wisdom, and fortune, as well as luck, beauty, and fertility. So, because of the uniquely beautiful way I pronounced my name, it means: wisdom, luminous beauty, light, wealth, fortune, luck, and fertility. Yep, that sounds like me! I often wonder what if? What if I had never been so bold at six years old to reinvent myself? Maybe my whole life would have turned out completely differently had I never literally changed the meaning of my name.

List Control
Product Launch Formula 3.0

All had a little link at the bottom that said “Powered By
Kajabi” and until now, not too many people knew what that was
about. Today, FINALLY, answers!

It’s apparently already changed the way John Reese, Andy
Jenkins, Frank Kern, Trey Smith, and Jeff Walker marketed
their biggest products this year.

I think it’s going to change the way EVERYONE markets online
very soon. And after you watch this, it’ll probably make a
convert out of you too.

Check it out!

P.S. The only lame part of this video is how long you’ll have
to wait to get your hands on Kajabi after watching. But I
guess a few days isn’t so bad. You decide: too long to wait?

SEE IT HERE FIRST!

P.P.S. Oh yeah, there is NO OPT-IN NEEDED to watch this. It’s
totally in the open. (Which is kind of shocking, considering.)

by Tracey Lawton, Online Business Development Strategist

There comes a point in every solopreneur’s business where they need to sit down and plan … and I mean, really plan! Not just write down a few ideas on the back of an envelope and hope for the best, but really map out a long-term strategic plan for their business.

Creating this kind of business plan is so important as, for one reason, it immediately eliminates a lot of the overwhelm and frustration that you’re probably feeling, but it also allows you to:

See where you’re going;

Know how you’re going to get there; and

Lays out exactly what you need to do along the way to get from Point A to Point B

How do you know when you’ve reached this critical business planning point?

Well, there are a few indicators:

You have LOTS of ideas swimming around in your head but don’t know how to pull them all together (lack of a Big Picture Vision)

You offer several different programs/products, at different price points, but get very few or no sign-ups (lack of a strategic Marketing Action Plan MAP)

You get feedback from your clients and/or customers letting you know that they’re confused and not sure which program is right for them (lack of a clear Product & Marketing Funnel)

Today I’d like to share with you three basic steps to business planning success so that you can start the year off on the right foot!

Step 1 – Create Your Big Picture Vision

This is the really fun part; it’s where you get to let your imagination run away with you. You want to sit down somewhere quiet with a pad and pen (writing is much better for this exercise as you can let your ideas flow) and start to write! Write about what you want your business to look like, the type of clients you want to serve, the sort of products and programs you want to offer – in fact write down anything and everything that pops into your head about what you want your business and life to look like.

Important: You want to write your Big Picture Vision in the present tense, as if you already have that business and lifestyle you’re writing about. Use terms such as, “I have, I own, I run”.

Remember that every part of your should say “YES” when you read your Big Picture Vision out loud!

Step 2 – Take Inventory

The next part is to take a look at where you are now and where you want to go. What needs to change in order to take you from where you are now to where you want to be? Is it:

More/less clients

More/less billable hours

Offering more programs/products

And then create a timeline for making these changes. Put down dates of when you want the changes to have been made by, and set about implementing!

Step 3 – Plan Your Funnel

Now that you know what you want your business to look like and what you need to do to get there, start and map out your different income streams. The Product & Marketing Funnel is the perfect model for this exercise as it allows you to create different products/programs/services at different price points within your business. This way clients can move from free (your ezine and articles) to your paid info products, and eventually through to your high-end programs.

Follow these three simple steps above and you’ll instantly create a business plan that will guide your business to continued success into 2011 … and beyond!

And if you need step-by-step support as you create your business plan for 2011 then do come join me in the School for Online Business Management during November. I’ll be showing you exactly how to create your own customized Business Plan and Strategic Marketing Action Plan (MAP) and you’ll walk away from the workshop knowing exactly what you need to do each week to achieve your 2011 goals!

We have all got quite a lot to be thankful for when we start to really think about it haven’t we? Perhaps some of the following questions, which were collected by a group of professionals working with children, might help to remind us to count our blessings.

The children were asked, ‘What does Love Mean?’ Here are their answers …

“When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t

bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my

grandfather does it for her all the time, even when

his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.”

Rebecca – age 8

_____

“When someone loves you, the way they say your name

is different. You just know that your name is safe in

their mouth.”

Billy – age 4

_____

“Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts

on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each

other.”

Karl – age 5

_____

“Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody

most of your French fries without making them give

you any of theirs.”

Chrissy – age 6

_____

“Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.”

Terri – age 4

_____

“Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and

she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make

sure the taste is OK.”

Danny – age 7

_____

“Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you

get tired of kissing, you still want to be together

and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that.

They look gross when they kiss”

Emily – age 8

_____

“Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if

you stop opening presents and listen.”

Bobby – age 7 (Wow!)

_____

“If you want to learn to love better, you should

start with a friend who you hate,”

Nikka – age 6

(we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

_____

“Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt,

then he wears it everyday.”

Noelle – age 7

_____

“Love is like a little old woman and a little old

man who are still friends even after they know each

other so well.”

Tommy – age 6

_____

“During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was

scared. I looked at all the people watching me and

saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one

doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.”

Cindy – age 8

_____

Lauren – age 4
