Recently I was watching television and I happened to see that Mythbusters was coming on. I love the show, Adam and Jamie you are really lucky! Well anyway the first myth they introduced was testing Truck Bed Liner to see if it helps protect against car crashes, a dogs bite, and house explosions.

It was an amazing myth and the results were even more amazing. They left me shocked. Before this episode I didn’t even have a clue what Bed Liner was. For those of you who are like me, Bed liner is a spray that you paint on your trucks bed to prevent it from scratches and other sorts of Damage.

So there were three parts to the Myth, Testing it on a Car Crash, A dog’s bite, and a house explosion.

We are only concerned with the car crash so let’s get straight to the point. Tory, Grant, and Kari started off by spray painting their car in this bed liner material. They painted half the car so that the damage could be compared. They first crashed the side of the car without the bed liner and realized that it took quite a lot of damage. They then tested the car by crashing the side with the bed liner and guess what! The car was not totally UN damaged but the bed liner did take most of the impact and only made a slight indentation in the vehicle.

They then re tested the myth at a higher speed and the results were about the same. The car did have damage but not as much as a car without it would.
So if you don’t mind the look of your car and are driving without car insurance, a great way to prevent major damage to your vehicle is to buy yourself a few cans of Bed Liner and spray them.

The Video was shot by Roman White a famous Director who has directed videos for Taylor swift and Lady Antebellum. It wasn’t the first time white had directed a Justin Bieber video. In 2009 he directed Justin’s, One less Lonely Girl video.

While directing the video White said, “That there was a whole lot more riding on it than viewers might imagine, like the Porsche speedster”.

“While we were shooting the Porsche scene, I told Justin, ‘We should just buy this car and split it,’ and he was like, ‘If this video wins an MTV Video Music Award, I’ll just buy you one,’ ” White said, laughing.”So I am starting the campaign right now … a Christmas video has probably never won anything, but it’s not about the award, it’s about the car.”

You all know Justin’s addiction to cars. First the Beautiful Lamborghini gave to him by P Diddy, then the Batmobile, and now the speedster. This young pop sensation is living the life. Don’t you agree?

• All children should be restrained. ( use a seatbelt)
• All children should sit in the back seat.
• Never put a rear facing child seat in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with a passenger’s front airbags.
• If you have to drive with children, place the largest one in the front seat and push the seat as far back as possible.
• Never hold an infant or child in your lap.
• Never put a seat belt over yourself and a child.
• Never let 2 children use the same seatbelt.
• Make sure any unused seat belts are locked so that the child does not accidently wrap it around their neck.
• Use Childproof door locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors.
• Do not EVER leave children ALONE in a vehicle.
• Lock all doors and trunk when vehicle is not in use.
• Keep Car keys and remotes out of reach of children.
• Do not put a rear facing child seat in a forward facing position.

Bluetooth offers a variety of functions for your phone. It provides a safe means of driving while talking and now in some luxury cars you’re even able to send a text with your voice. Today we will be discussing how to setup and pair your mobile device with your 2010 Honda Accord, but the process is mostly the same for all cars.

Pairing your Phone is very simple. Here is a list of steps that you can follow to pair your phone.

1. Press the Talk button on your Steering wheel.

2. Once instructed hold the Talk button and say “HandsFree Help”. Then you will be given a few options.

I recommend you test it out just in case there’s any problem with the setup process. Remember only setup the system when your vehicle is parked and never while driving.

Who says a car manufacturer has to just develop cars? Mercedes Benz is upping the ante and has recently begun its own line of Men’s Fragrance.

The fragrance, which combines woody notes with hints of floral, hits selected specialty retailers in the first quarter of 2012, as an eau de toilette, after shave, deodorant and shower and body gel.

Renowned perfumer Olivier Cresp of Firmenich developed the fragrance. His scent trail, er, resume includes more than 50 prestigious perfumes. They include: Karl Lagerfeld Kapsule Woody; five different Nina Ricci scents; Versace Man Eau Fraiche; Christian Dior Dune Pour Homme; Dolce et Gabbana Light Blue; Avon Today; three Antonio Banderas scents, including Blue Seduction for Men; and Valentino Valentina.

Cresp describes the Mercedes scent as having a cool top note that features Calabrian bergamot, lemon essence and Italian mandarin. The middle note is a warm, spicy mix of bourbon, pepper, nutmeg, violet and galbanum resin. The base note provides a spicy finish to the perfume and includes American cedar wood, vetyver grass and patchouli.

True to the Mercedes-Benz style, the bottle design is masculine, modern, and even elegant.

• A Swirl Combustion Chamber – Is designed to allow the air and fuel mixture to swirl or spin, as it enters from the intake port.
• Four-Valve Combustion Chamber – uses two exhaust valves and two intake valves. The Extra valves allow for increased flow in an out of the combustion chamber. This is used more on new vehicles. Sometimes one of the intake valves is opened more than the other which allows for a swirling action on the air fuel mixture entering the chamber, which than helps reduce emissions.

• Three Valve Combustion Chamber – has two intake valves and one exhaust valve. The two intake valves allow ample airflow into the combustion chamber on the intake stroke. The single exhaust valve provides enough surface are to handle exhaust flow. This is a new design which is used by only a few manufacturers. Provides about the same performance as a four valve.
• A stratified charge combustion chamber- Uses a small combustion chamber flame to ignite and burn the fuel in the main, large combustion chamber, a very lean mixture is inserted into the main combustion chamber. The mixture is hard to ignite. A richer mixture is then inserted into the smaller chambers by an extra valve. When the mixture in the small chambers is ignited the flames blow into the main chamber and ignite the lean mixture. This is a highly efficient chamber.
• An Air Jet Combustion chamber – has a single chamber fitted with an extra air valve. During the intake stroke, the engine camshaft opens both the conventional intake valve and the air jet valve. Allowing the fuel mixture to flow past the conventional intake valve and into the cylinder and at the same time air flows into the cylinder through a jet valve.
• A pre-combustion chamber – Is used in automotive diesel engines to quiet engine operation and to allow the use of a glow plug to aid cold weather starting. It is also called a diesel prechamber.

If we can’t afford the real thing, at least we can get ourselves a smaller scale model, right? Well, maybe… unless the 1:8 scale Aventador you’ve got your eye on comes with seats, headlights and steering wheel made from diamonds, wheels fashioned from gold and platinum and a perfectly scaled copy of the body crafted from carbon fiber.

Just how much would such a fancy bauble cost? We hope you’re sitting down: at least $4.7 million. Yes, in dollars. Auction house Sotheby’s plans to sell the wee Lambo to the highest bidder in December with the lofty starting price just quoted, but if you just can’t wait to get your hands on it, you can buy it from Robert Gülpen, the modeler, for a cool $6 mil.

Ferrari has officially released the video of the new Ferrari 458 Spider which debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show.

Frankfurt, September 13th 2011 – Ferrari’s exclusive new 8-cylinder, the 458 Spider has finally been unveiled to the public at the 64th Frankfurt International Motor Show.

The latest addition to the Ferrari range is a mid-rear-engined two-seater featuring a fully retractable aluminium hard-top, a world first for a sports car with this layout.

The 458 Spider’s innovative new hard-top is not only 25 kg lighter than a traditional folding soft-top, but is also quieter and thermally more efficient when raised. Aside from taking just 14 seconds to open or close, the hard-top was engineered to occupy a very small space when stored so that the designers were able to include a generous rear bench for luggage behind the two seats.

The rear windscreen doubles as an effective wind-stop which is electrically adjustable. When the hard-top is folded away the wind-stop opens to the height that guarantees the most efficient aerodynamics, reducing buffeting in the cockpit.

The 458 Spider is powered by Ferrari’s 570 CV 4,499 cc V8 which was named International Engine of the Year 2011. This is coupled with Ferrari’s class-leading dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission which delivers 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

The all-aluminium chassis incorporates new alloys and castings, also adopted on the coupé, which ensure the 458 Spider already conforms to 2020 safety legislation.

Its category-topping performance aside, the new car also boasts class-leading fuel consumption and emissions levels. Thanks to the HELE (High Emotion Low Emission) system, in fact, fuel consumption on the combined urban cycle stands at 11.8 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 275 g/km.

Everyone who has seen or has owned a Lexus ever in their lives knows that Lexus hasn’t really designed amazing vehicles for a very long time but with all the new competition Lexus too is finding it necessary to gear up and boost their style and design.

Many people agree that the entire Lexus brand is very bland looking. But that visual conservatism may be about to change: Automotive News is reporting that the Japanese juggernaut plans to change that by taking more risks and striving for more character.

Toyota Design Chief Tokuo Fukuichi tells AN that the brand in the future will build on the design language first introduced in the HS 250h and refined in the GS, but with more emphasis on the fighter jet-inspired grille. Lexus says the eye-catching grille draws from the hourglass shape of a spindle, but it’s more than just an expressive face.

Fukuichi adds “The spindle grille is not just a design matter; it also has to have a good functional performance in bringing in air.”

In short, Lexus is looking to push itself to create more dynamic new models, even if some models don’t exactly come off as focus-group friendly. We’re all for a sexier Lexus with a personality implant, but a new grille won’t be all that’s needed. Only time will tell if Toyota’s premium marquee can shed its conservative tendencies and come up with something more dynamic that still sells
