First, welcome to the SNOG FOR SUMMER. Thank you to all who organized such a wonderful event. Follow the HOP here: http://smutforgood.co.uk/a-snog-for-sommer/

Unfortunately I can't post the graphic for the hop (boo! hiss!) but I can tell a bit about my experience with Sommer before I share my snog. Make sure to read on for my CONTEST at the end of this post!

A few years ago, I shared on Twitter my love of flamingoes. Out of nowhere, the lovely Sommer asked for my mailing address and one day, I opened up my mail to an adorable flamingo replica that I still have. She is just that sweet. So when I heard of this hop, I knew I had to join in. Go buy her books - they're awesome - and support an incredible cause that benefits a woman and her family who have done so much for so many. :)

And onto my snog...from my recent release PROVING HIS WORTH, Deuces Wild #3.

AMAZON buy link: http://amzn.to/1o3Dwam

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">Sterling leaned
in, so close that his minty breath fluttered over Angelina's cheek. “May I kiss you?”

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">In spite of
how absolutely flummoxed he made her, the question coaxed out a smile. “You’re
the only one who has ever asked. Most just take.” When he remained still, she
nodded. “Yes. Please.” Please.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">His eyes
open and intent, he pressed his mouth gently to hers. She trembled and he
reached up with his cool, wet fingers to cup her other cheek. He slid his thumb
along the seam of her mouth until it parted enough for him to slip his tongue
along the edge of her teeth. Easing his finger away, he forged deeper, slanting
his head, exploring her as if she was the most fascinating creature he’d ever
encountered.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">One kiss
bled into the next. He sipped from her, drawing on her air and her flesh and
imprinting her with the brand of his mouth. He dropped kisses at the corners of
her lips, on her chin, along her jaw. Their mutual hunger flared to life, as
palpable as his palms on her skin, and she arched toward him, needing more. He
caressed her with such care, and she reveled in it, because it was new. Because
it was Sterling, finally.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">All the
while, he watched her, silently gauging her reaction. Water flowed into the
sink from the running faucet, splashing her arm, yet she stared into his dark,
vast pupils as if he held the answer to every question she’d never thought to
ask. And he fed her his breath in a shuddery stream that told her he was every
bit as excited as she was, maybe even as awed and scared.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">So fucking
scared.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">Ang jerked
back, breaking the trance. She slammed off the faucet and tried to regain her
equilibrium even as his hand pressed to the base of her spine to offer her
support. She sagged against him, only now realizing she’d barely even kissed
him back during his sensual onslaught. All she’d done was take and take and
take. Greedily.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">So much for
rocking his world. He’d grabbed hers
and shaken it like a snow globe. She hadn’t stopped spinning yet.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">She shut
her eyes at his hand gliding up her back, silently soothing. “If you don’t have
any antibacterial cream, peroxide would work too.”

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">Nice segue, McFee<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">But he
didn’t bite. “You continually surprise me.” Crushed gravel lined his tone,
sharp little rocks that rubbed wicked welts over her skin.

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">She shot
him a look under her lashes, still breathing too fast. “Because I can’t kiss
for shit?”

<span style="color: black; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 200%;">His smile
verged on a smirk. “Funny, I thought you did just fine.”

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Thanks for having me here, Cari!

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Losing Control is one of my favorite romance types—a
‘friends to lovers’ story. For the last four years, Jake and Kim have been best
friends. But in reality, Jake has been biding his time. He actually wants the
whole deal, love, marriage, babies... Kim, on the other hand, is recovering
from an abusive relationship. She’s determined never to put herself in anyone’s
control again. No way will she ever remarry, but at the same time, she doesn’t
want to lose Jake’s friendship. The book follows her increasingly frantic struggles
to keep Jake firmly in his best friend role, while fighting an overwhelming and
totally inconvenient sexual attraction.

I see that LOSING CONTROL is the first
book in the Babysitting a Billionaire series. Love that name! How many books do
you have planned?

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">There are three books in the series, based on three
girlfriends who all work for Knight Security. Dani and Jess, the heroines from
books 2 and 3, both make appearances in Losing Control. Hopefully, readers will
be rooting for their happy-ever-afters as well.

Bodyguard books are SO hot. What made
you want to write one?

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I’m a big believer that you should write the sort of
things you love to read and I love bodyguard books. But I also love books about
strong heroines, so I decided to make the series about women who work (or as
in the case with Losing Control—who want
to work) as bodyguards and keep their men safe. Not that the men involved are
always appreciative of the effort. I love the fight an alpha male has to accept
that his woman is strong enough to protect him.

For the readers we have that are curious
about our process, do you outline your stories before you begin or fly by the
seat of your pants?

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I’ve tried both, but come to the realization that I’m
a total plotter. I actually enjoy plotting. I outline right down to scene
level. I think the main reason is that it gives me time to get to know my
characters before I start the actual writing. I need to wait for that moment
where they start chatting away in my head—then I’m ready.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">But I also have a pretty low boredom threshold, so I
tend to do it differently each time. Spreadsheets, cards, the hero’s journey….
Right now I’m learning how to use Scrivener and it’s fun.
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">
Tell us something about Jake from LOSING
CONTROL that will make us even more eager to read it! (though c’mon, from the
smokin’ cover to that blurb, is that even possible?)

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Jake’s ex-army, and he now runs a security company
among other things. He’s definitely an alpha male—he’s tough and pretty much a
control freak, but he also has a huge protective streak.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Of course, he’s gorgeous as well—

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">“With his thick, dark hair that always
looked sexily ruffled like some woman had just run her fingers through it, his
high cheekbones, strong, straight nose, and beautifully stern mouth. He was six
feet three inches of lean, mean, drool-worthy man.”

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">Jake understands that Kim is scared of
losing control over her life and it’s a real battle for him to try not to
overwhelm her. He has to go to great lengths to prove he can relinquish control,
including one incident with a four-poster bed, a few lengths of rope and…<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">

What’s your typical writing day like? Do
you have any special rituals to help get you in the mood?

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I live on an almond farm in the mountains of
southern Spain, with my husband and a whole load of animals. So the start of
the day is usually seeing to them (not the husband, he’s very self-sufficient.)
I feed the pig, walk the dogs, ride the horse... After that, most of the day is
mine, though the dogs do tell me when they need attention. I tend to spend the
mornings, while my mind is fresh, writing new words. Then in the afternoons I
do everything else, editing, promo stuff, critting… anything that’s on my
to-do-list.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">And this time of year, the work is interspersed with
dips in the pool to cool off and wake me up.
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">
What qualities make up your ideal hero?
(In real life or fiction or both – your choice!)

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I love total alpha heroes. At least in fiction. I
love them lean and mean and with just a touch of arrogance. He has to feel
strongly about things and be willing to fight for what he believes in. I also
think all heroes should have a protective streak. He knows he’s big and strong,
and he wants to use that strength to protect the people he cares about.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Oh, and I’m also a sucker for tall dark and
handsome.

And just for fun: would you rather run
away for an impetuous sexy island getaway with your significant other or curl
up in front of a roaring fire during a snowstorm? And why?

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">It’s got to be the sexy island getaway. I love the
summer and the sun. I was born in the north of England where the sun hardly
ever shone and I seem to have spent my life since heading south. I also love
the sea, so an island is my perfect holiday destination.

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Though the one thing I love about winter is snow—so
I don’t mind the occasional snowstorm (and we do get them on our mountain.).

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Ellie Reyes gripped Maddox’s hand as tight as she could. Yes, it was the first time he’d voluntary touched her since he’d picked her up out of the back of the Jeep when they’d first met, but, honestly, that wasn’t important now.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">She’d think about the calloused hands of a hard worker—one who helped his Pack and brothers, not necessarily in his job—and how they would feel against her skin. She’d think about what it all meant later.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
Maybe later she could even relish his touch and imagine the scents of wolf and forest washing over her.

Later.

Right now, all she wanted to do was hide in a corner so the others would stop staring at her. Or, she could raise her chin at them all and show them they couldn’t hurt her. Her wolf whimpered at the thought, not knowing if that were possible. She didn’t know if she was broken or strong anymore.

She’d been hurt far more than they could ever imagine. They had no idea what she could endure. Oh, they’d all guessed and given her their pitying looks, but they didn’t know.
They couldn’t know.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn saves the world one Photoshop file at a time in her job as a graphic designer. At night, she writes sexy romance, drinks a lot of coffee, and plays her music way too loud. When she’s not scribbling furiously, she’s watching men’s college basketball, reading excellent books, and causing trouble. Sometimes simultaneously.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">S<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">mexy Excerpt:

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Lips curving, Sara reached for her body wash and squirted a huge dollop into her palm. She set aside the bottle and rubbed the soap over her torso, her smile turning impish.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
“Uh-oh. That smile scares me.”
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
She laughed and trailed bubbles over Brad’s chest, leaning forward to nip the corded muscles in his shoulders. He tensed, his pecs flexing under her meandering fingers.

“I want to watch you touch yourself.” She looked up at him under her lashes. “That’s not scary, is it?”

“No.” His throat rippled as he swallowed. “And I do aim to please.”

He didn’t hesitate to load up his hands with the body wash she even now worked into his ropey upper arms. This was a man for whom life itself was a workout. She would bet he didn’t even have a gym membership. He just worked and played hard.

And she had a feeling he had sex the same way. God, she couldn’t wait to find out.

They soaped each other for a couple minutes, the only sounds the rushing water and their increasingly heavy breathing. Without a word, he reached down and gripped his cock. When he began to move up and down in short strokes, her breath caught. So hot. She’d seen men do that in adult movies but never in reality. Never right in front of her.
His arm muscles flexed as the first fat drop of precome seeped down his shaft before being washed away. He sped up, working himself hard. Noting his firm hold, she bit her lip. Maybe she’d been too careful when touching prior lovers. Not that she’d gotten any complaints, but the harsh pumps of his hand gave her pause. They also provoked a low moan.

The sexiest part of this? His low-lidded, burning blue eyes were focused on her. Right now she was the fuel for his fantasies. Knowing that brought a fresh rush of moisture between her thighs.

Riveted, she cupped her own breasts, hardly aware of what she was doing. But then she sneezed again, and he choked out a laugh. “I’m going to get an erection every time I hear you sneeze from now on. You know that, right?”

Instead of responding in kind, she stared at his hand, now moving slower than before, and unwittingly pinched her nipples. The pinch twanged in her lower belly, swift and sharp.
“Damn, baby, that’s beautiful.” Reverence filled his tone.

She splashed a little water on them to wash off the last of the body wash. After she turned off the tap, she stepped closer and gazed deep into his eyes. What she saw there made her heart flutter and her core clench. “Tell me what you imagine when you’re doing this alone.”

“I usually pretend you’re riding me. Your hair loose, your breasts bouncing. I knew they’d be like this.” He molded her flesh, his tanned fingertips against her pale skin an incredible turn-on. “Not too big. Not too small. And your nipples…they’re the same cinnamon brown I always pictured. Almost as pretty as those light brown eyes of yours.”
That his attention returned to her face as he spoke inflamed every dormant nerve inside her body. He captured her lips, tormenting her with light, teasing kisses that made her want to grab his arms and drag him against her. But she reached for his cock instead, desperate to learn how he would feel in her hand.

In her mouth. Inside her. Everywhere.

She shuddered, and he palmed her cheek. “Let’s go in the bedroom.” Each subtle throb of his thick, velvety flesh told her how much his own monologue had affected him. “It’s too cold in here, and you’re all wet.”

“That won’t improve if we go in the bedroom.”

His rich, appreciative laughter wound around her while he nudged her out of the shower and bundled her into one of her thick, Egyptian cotton towels. He folded another around her hair and led her into her room, then tugged her onto the bed. When he started to pull her on top of him, she put up a fight, enjoying the fierce flare of arousal on his face as he finally pinned her beneath him.

“Like it rough, hmm?”

“Maybe.” She blew an escaped strand of damp hair out of her eyes. “But it was more that. I had an ulterior motive. I wanted you just like this.”
He arched a brow. “That so?”

“Oh yeah.” Watching his face, Sara stroked the delicious erection flush against her belly. Then she licked her palm and slickened his length, repeating the move until his cock glistened. “Because you’re not finished.”

A huge THANK YOU to the incredible Skye Warren for running these awesome hops. I'm a big fan of her work and really appreciate the effort she puts into running an erotic-themed hop (because, seriously, EROTIC BOOKS ROCK!)

To celebrate the WET AND WILD blog hop, I thought I'd share a never-before seen excerpt from DIRTY DISTRACTIONS, book 1 in the Afternoon Delight series, out June 18th from Samhain Publishing. Sara and Brad know all about getting wet...and wild. ;)

Here's the blurb:

She wants a fling, and he wants forever…

Afternoon Delight, Book 1

Zoologist Sara Carmichael’s active social life is the envy of all her friends, but she has a secret. She’s bored senseless. If she has to go to one more bird sanctuary fundraiser with some guy who thinks his little sports car makes him “hip”, she'll scream.

Enter Brad O’Halloran, her best friend Kim’s much younger brother. A guy who’s picking up the pieces after a quickie marriage and even quicker divorce. A guy so hot he makes her body scream with frustration.

Until Sara’s apartment is renovated, they’re all living at Kim’s place. Despite her determination not to salivate at glimpses of Brad’s finer-than-fine body in nothing but a low-slung towel, flirtation escalates to the brink of something more.

Now one of them has to back down…or ante up for some good, dirty fun with the unspoken understanding that when the time comes, they’ll make a clean break. Neither anticipated they’d make the most complicated connection of all—love.

Here's the EXCLUSIVE X-Rated EXCERPT:

Before he’d had his fill, she shoved Brad back and straddled him, sinking down on his ready cock in a fluid move that stole his breath. Though he watched her envelop his straining shaft and felt every twitch of her aftershocks, he couldn’t fucking believe what he was seeing. What he was feeling.

Sara. Around him. Bare.

As much as he wanted to revel in the feeling of her taking him deep, he couldn’t stay silent. She mattered too much to him, and if she’d had a momentary lapse she would regret later—

"I know," she whispered, stilling his lips when he would’ve spoken. "We’re covered." She replaced her finger with her warm, tender mouth. "Now fuck me like you mean it, O’Halloran."

He wouldn’t make her ask twice.

He pressed her thighs wide apart, his gaze riveted on the show between her legs. Her swollen lower lips spread at his surge into the sweet spot that took him so readily. Her gently curved belly undulated at his strokes. The bubbles obscured way more of the action than he liked, but he drew her up over him, powering into her again and again.

Taking, and giving, and taking more.
Thanks so much to Under The Covers and Guilty Pleasures for hosting this awesome hop!

I LOVE sinful books. Hey, I write erotic romance, what can I say? I think SINFUL SIRENS in particular are awesome, because who doesn't put themselves in the shoes of the heroine of the book they're reading? I do! I just finished reading THE EDUCATION OF CAROLINE by Jane Harvey-Berrick and I have to say, I was totally jealous of Caroline. This book touches on a "taboo" of a relationship with a younger man, but when Sebastian grew up, wow. I loved that this story wasn't what I expected and became so much more.

When you think spring, what comes to mind? Flowers, birds chirping, grass poking up from the soil. And if you're a romance author like me, it might make you think about your first love or your first kiss.

I thought I'd share the first kiss scene from VIRGIN TERRITORY, my novel from Decadent Publishing.

VIRGIN TERRITORY BLURB:

Network analyst by day, erotic romance writer by night Vincent Buonfiglio is dealing with a work-in-progress that has gone colder than winter in his hometown of Ridgley, North Dakota. So what does a man who needs to write hot do to get cranking?

Search out a woman for a night of no-strings sex, of course.

But his choice of partner, Katherine "Kiki" Wyatt, manager of the Quikky Snak Gas & Lube, isn't biting. Flirting over his nightly chili dog is one thing. But a date? Sex? Not happening. Vincent reminds Kiki way too much of her cheating ex-fiancé, and she's learned her lesson—dangerously sexy geeks with lots to offer outside the bedroom are off-limits. Until they're held up at the gas station, and Vincent gets shot protecting her. Then all bets are off.

With a painful shoulder injury and four weeks to get his book written, he turns to Kiki. She agrees to help him with his novel, but she doesn't expect to end up naked in the reformed womanizer's arms—or that helping Vincent write the spiciest book of the year will allow her to pen her own happy ending.

VIRGIN TERRITORY FIRST KISS EXCERPT:

She didn’t notice he’d stepped toward her until his sneakers bumped her bare feet. Wet snow gushed between her toes as her gaze snapped up to his.

Whoa. What she saw simmering there—namely blatant, undisguised lust—had her fingers clenching around the knob.

Unless she was very mistaken, he hadn’t stopped by for a neighborly pinch of sugar. No, the sugar Vincent wanted was a different substance entirely.

He threaded his hand through her hair, tugging her closer. Her body strained toward him, her breasts all but bursting the buttons of her flannel pajamas. She swallowed the last of the candy cane as he lowered his mouth to hers.

He didn’t ravage, as she’d expected. His mouth was soft and warm on hers, and the scrape of his stubbled jaw added to the thrill. She moaned and clung to him, her mind emptying like sand tumbling from a bucket.

Resist? Absolutely not. She wanted this.

Him.

His tongue swept between her lips to tangle with hers, to explore her mouth so slowly and thoroughly that the snow melting between her toes had nothing on the melting happening between her legs.
Yes.

The word sang through her, an acquiescence she couldn’t voice. It was as if she’d been frozen after Nico, and here was the heat, the life, that would finally allow her to come back to herself.

Thinking about Nico was her mistake. She stiffened, but Vincent was already drawing back, the gold rims surrounding his pupils burning.

"I didn’t intend to do that."

She rubbed the back of her hand over her mouth. Her lips still sizzled. "I didn’t intend to let you."

"I guess neither of us has control of our intentions." He smiled slightly, his gaze wandering from her messy hair to her old pajamas. The desire warming his eyes never waned.

Kiss me again. Everywhere.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> I don’t seek songs to match a book, but they have a way of finding me.
When I’m writing a book, or even thinking
of writing that book, it’s on my mind constantly. To the annoyance of my family
members, even when we’re in the car, listening to the radio, anything at all.
While I’m musing, a particular song will reach out and grab me, already

wildflowers along the path until I’m done writing.

cheating a little because I have loved this since forever. I just love Shakira,

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Though this song wasn’t actually out while I was writing Selling Out,
it is crazy applicable. I think Adele songs could apply to so many romantic
books… at least, my books. But a call girl and a detective on the police force
are really on opposite sides of the world, even when they stand in the same

applicable to the destruction they face together.

against her better judgment she takes the scared young Ella with her. In
retaliation, her pimp and his dirty cops frame them both for murder. On the
run, Shelly turns to the one man who could be her salvation: Detective Luke

she needs his help to free them all.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">“Shh,” I murmured, stroking his back.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">But his protests fell away as I pressed my breasts to his
arm and my tongue to his ear. His harsh inhalation sounded broken, shattered,
or maybe that was me.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I tasted salt and man, earth and spring. Slow licks
alongside his lobe and upward, more suggestive than sensation, but for a man
like this, anticipation would be everything. Or so I had imagined, all the
times I had dreamed of it.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">A small sound escaped him, somewhere between a grunt and
groan. I took it as encouragement and smoothed my hands along the hard planes
of his shoulders, his chest. Not anywhere near the bulge in his jeans, because
this wasn’t about pleasure—it was about wanting.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Anything to get closer, I let my knees slide apart around
his side, the faint heat of his body a shock to my core. His hands clenched and
opened on his knees, and again, the muscles rippled beneath his darkly tanned
skin. Was he restraining himself from touching me or pushing me off?

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">“Baby, no,” he groaned, letting his head fall back onto my
shoulder.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">No, I would never deserve to have him as more than a sex
partner. And he had never fucked me, though I knew he wanted to. Every time he
saw me, his eyes would darken and my stomach would bottom out, but we’d never
touch. But maybe for one brief inconvenient moment, while the door was open and
the young woman beyond it needed help, we could pretend. Maybe it could be
enough.
I shut my eyes tightly and pressed a kiss to his temple. Pretend, just pretend.
I would give him the sex he had craved, and in return, he’d give me memories.
It would be a payment, just the same.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">“You want this,” I whispered.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">He shuddered in my arms; it was like hugging a wild animal,
one who could just as easily maul me as cuddle.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">“Can I touch you?” he whispered. “Please.”

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">It unraveled me, that plea. As if he understood that a
little bit of my soul slipped away every time someone touched me. As if he
would cherish the part I gave him.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I scrambled away from him as if burned, breathing hard. No.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">No one understood, which was exactly the way I liked it. I
ran a shaking hand over my face to smooth away the panic.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Sure, he knew the score better than most people. He had
worked the beat as a patrol cop and then as a detective. Life as a high-priced
escort wasn’t glamorous; it was sweat and blood sprinkled with glitter. But he
didn’t know the full extent, and I prayed he never would. Henri didn’t sell
bodies; he gutted them.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I panted against the headboard, unable to walk away but

damn real.”

HUGE thanks to Romance Book Junkies and Bitten By Paranormal Romance
for holding such an amazing fundraiser!

The Paws with a Cause blog hop is something I knew I had to take part in, because I LOVE animals. If I were to pick another career other than writer, I would most definitely prefer to work with pets. I can admit it takes a lot for me to get gooey-eyed over a human baby, but a kitten or puppy? Forget it!

Before I go any further, I want to show you a grainy picture of my main man, my tabby cat Fozzie (hey, he wants a chance in the spotlight too!) I adore him.

And he's the handsomest cat ever. Nuff said.

Hello Everyone! We have a total of 59 blogs that have gotten together to help raise money for a great cause. There are going to be some awesome prizes up for grabs for people that donate money to the cause. Here is a little about the company that we are raising the money for:

Paws With A Cause® enhances the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities nationally through custom-trained Assistance Dogs.

PAWS® increases awareness of the rights and roles of Assistance Dog teams through education and advocacy. Founded in 1979, Paws With A Cause is dedicated to helping its clients who are challenged by many disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Seizure Disorders, and Hearing Disorders to name just some. Each of our dogs are trained to meet the specific needs of our clients. Tasks may include opening and closing doors, picking up objects, pulling a wheelchair, turning lights on and off, and alerting a person to particular sounds like a telephone, doorbell, smoke detector and many others. Our dogs change lives by enhancing the independence of our clients. By just opening a door, a dog opens up the world for a person with a disability and your donations will go to making that happen. PAWS thanks you so much for your donation and allowing us to open more doors.
Warning: Do not try to email Danielle the name and donation amount of another person that is not yourself. If Danielle receives more than one email with the same persons name and donation amount she will have to ask for your copy of the receipt from Everibbon to verify that you are the correct winner. Thank you.

How to donate:
1. Go to https://www.everribbon.com/PawswithaCause
2. Click on “Make a Donation”
3. Enter an amount you wish to donate. Everibbon will add a small fee to your donation for processing. My fee for donating $5.00 was .49 cents. So keep this in mind when deciding your donation amount. You will receive 1 entry into the giveaway for every $1 you donate.
4. In the box that says “on the behalf of” please put your name. This is the name that will be listed on the Everibbon website so put a name you do not mind being visible to everyone. Do not check the box to make an anonymous donation because I will not be able to track your donation to enter you into the giveaways.
5. Next it will ask you for your credit or debit card information.
6. Then it will ask for your email address to send you a receipt. This is so that you can submit it for tax purposes.
7. Ta Da! You’re all done making your donation. Now you need to contact Danielle to enter the giveaway.
8. Please email Danielle at RomanceBookJunkiesDanielle@Yahoo.com with the name you used to donate your money. For example the name I used to donate on behalf of was Romance Book Junkies. Do not send me your name off your credit or debit card because I will not be able to see this. Along with the name you used please tell me how much you donated and if you live in the US or are International.
9. You’re all done. Thank you for donating!

What’s in it for you? (Other than just that “I did something good!” feeling)
There will be 4 winners for the main giveaway.

2 $65 gift certificates to any online book store.

1 huge box of books and swag from Romance Book Junkies (for US residents only)

1 huge box of books and swag from Bitten by Paranormal Romance (for US residents only)

Good luck to all and thank you for helping make this fundraiser a success.

YAY, another fun Entangled Publishing blog hop! It's almost Valentine's Day, and for a romance author like me, it's a great time of year!

To up the romance quotient, I'm going to share one of my favorite snippets from my recent Entangled Publishing Brazen release, NO FLOWERS REQUIRED, book 2 in the Love Required series. NO ROMANCE REQUIRED, book 3 in the series, will release later this year!

The next evening, Alexa came home to a gray and dreary apartment. The drizzly weather definitely hadn’t helped her mood. She’d had a blah day with not one, but two snarly customers, and only one of them had purchased an arrangement.

She sighed and set aside her purse on the table inside the door. Only one bright spot cheered up her gloom—maybe Dillon had left her another present. Or better yet, perhaps she would find him stretched out naked on her air bed, ready to do her bidding. A girl could hope.

But alas, there was no Dillon in her apartment. And no flowers. Tonight a plastic snake peeked out of the jar on her windowsill. Laughter spilled out of her as she grabbed the note he’d left behind.

When you said snake, I got confused. If this isn’t what you had in mind, call me. I’m all done working on your apartment. Let me know if you need anything else. D.

What's up for grabs at my blog stop?

One US winner will win a grab bag of swag and fun book-related goodies! You could get a bookmark, a signed book, a gift card, a mug or other fun items...never know what will be in the package!

One International winner will win an ebook from my backlist of their choice!

How do you enter?

1) Answer this question (please leave your email address so I can contact you if you win!): This Valentine's Day, which fictional hero will be on your ereader or your nightstand? Share with me and everyone else so we can add to our TBR lists!

Eight months after her lover, Holden, went off to join the Alaskan fishing
fleet, Laurel gave up on him and soothed her broken heart by focusing on her
dream of owning a small organic farm. Now her crop is growing—and so are her
feelings for Jens, the hunky rancher who owns the land she’s tending.

Behind her affection for Jens, though she hides a secret: she still aches for
Holden. If Jens knew she once loved his best friend, she fears he’ll walk out
on her, too.

When Holden returns to find his girl in Jens’s arms, he’s nearly crippled with
jealous rage. And with fear that she’ll run away from them both unless they
figure out a solution—fast. It’s Jens who comes up with the crazy-hot idea to share
her.

As their three-way dance of seduction heats up, the sexual and emotional
barriers fall like dominos. But now it’s Jens who’s holding onto a secret. One
that could not only destroy their tenuous bond, but leave them all without a
home.

Happy Valentine's Day! Like my sparkly new blog digs? Lots of hearts here!

As usual, I'm behind on sending out prizes, but I'm slowly but surely getting caught up. For this hop, I'm offering a GRAB BAG of swag and other fun book related stuff to one US winner, and an ebook from my backlist to an international winner.

In honor of Valentine's Day, I'm going to share a couple of romantic lines from one of the romantic scenes in my books. Bonus points if anyone can guess which book! :) (HINT: It's the book at the top of the left column!)

The familiarity almost broke her. His touch, his smell, the way his nose bumped hers in his urgency to seize her mouth. He took possession of her with confidence, the kind she’d found so sexy once upon a time. If she’d only tasted his skill in the kiss, she would’ve shoved him back and told him to go to hell. But she could sense the desperation in each conquering stroke of his tongue and every strangled groan trapped in his throat.

His teeth scraped her lower lip as he drew back, his eyes steady on hers.Wildly blue and hot with need, those eyes made her want to believe. “I love you, Alexa. You were the only thing worth risking you for. If taking back what I did means I couldn’t be there to watch you succeed, I wouldn’t do it.”

Her head pounded, making his words rattle around like pinballs. She simply couldn’t process what he’d said, not after he’d already shaken her down to her toes with that scorcher of a kiss. Her lips were still tingling. Everything was still tingling.

The sound of clapping made her glance around the banquet hall. Everyone seemed to be grinning at her and Dillon. She, the woman who was so aware of how she was behaving at all times, hadn’t even noticed that they’d created a spectacle.

“Don’t look at them. Look at me.”
Welcome today to Jared Quinn and Sheridan Harper, hero and heroine from Karen Erickson’s brand spanking new - and delicious! - Brazen from Entangled Publishing, GAME FOR MARRIAGE.

As Jared’s should-be wife (hey, sharing a last name imparts certain rights, dontcha think?) I’m a little resentful that he got married when clearly we are soulmates, but whatever. I’ll settle for this interview in lieu of a torrid affair and quickie marriage. Since Sheridan, that lovely wi—lady, got there first. ;)

I’m going to ask the same questions of both Sheridan and Jared, as I’m sure they don’t share the same views about everything. And I won’t even ask any personal, private questions of Jared, though I certainly think it’s my right as his former flame. In the sense that I was on fire while I read GAME FOR MARRIAGE. Which totally counts, right?

Make sure you read on to the end to find out how you can enter Karen's fabulous giveaway!

1) So rumor has it that you two spent a hot night at a motel together after knowing each other approximately seventeen minutes. True, false?

Jared – Totally false. It was at least a couple of hours before we ended up at the—ow. (rubs side with a grimace) Whoops, sorry. No comment.

Sheridan – (Smiles serenely after jabbing Jared in the ribs) I have no idea what you’re talking about. *blinks*

2) I’ve developed a new love of soda. I’ve heard Jared has something in common with Pepsi products. Are there pictures?

Jared – Uhh, now I’m the one who’s clueless. (scratches head, turns to Sheridan) What’s this crazy woman talking about?

Sheridan – (leans in toward her husband and whispers) Oh, my God, don’t be so rude! She’ll ask even tougher questions if you keep this up. (Sits up straight with a smile) You must’ve heard something from my best friend Willow. She has such a wicked sense of humor and it’s a—private joke between us. I can’t go any further than that, sorry.

3) Now as you can imagine, I’m a big romantic. But even I question a relationship and marriage that occurred before Sheridan had time to change her underwear (Jared, I’m assuming you don’t wear any, because, seriously, don’t.) How did you two fall in love so fast?

Jared – I wear underwear—sometimes. *winks* Look, I was instantly attracted to her. And she didn’t seem that interested in me which I gotta admit, intrigued me even more.

Sheridan – When we met, I was working, Jared.

Jared – I know, I know, and I admired your work ethic—amongst other things. (Gives Sheridan a long, smoldering look)

Sheridan – God, you’re so bad.

Jared – You know it. Now tell the nice lady who claims we were married in another life how you fell in love with me so fast?

Sheridan – *smiles* I like how he’s always so focused on me. Like nothing else matters when I’m with him, just me. And trust me, there’s always something going on in his world that could distract him. He shuts it all out when we’re together and I love that.

Jared – That’s because there’s no one else I’d rather be with. You make it easy to shut everything else out.

Sheridan – See? That. That’s exactly why I fell in love with him.

4) Jared’s injury has to slow things down on the field and off. Was your honeymoon as quick as your nuptials? Feel free to give my readers details. Salacious details.

Jared – Very quick. Timing was all wrong, season was starting and I couldn’t give Sheridan the honeymoon she deserves. I’m rectifying that very soon.

Sheridan – Yeah, our honeymoon was…weird. But never mind that. (turns to look at Jared) What are you planning?

Jared – You’ll find out soon enough.

Sheridan – I hate secrets.

Jared – You’ll like this one. Trust me.

5) Now that you two have ridden off into the sunset, do you have any tips for keeping the home fires burning? Do you ever consider partner swapping? (Oops, never mind, disregard that last question.)

Jared – (Clenches jaw) Considering she’s my wife, that would be a big hell no to your crazy question. She belongs to me and no one else.

Sheridan – I love it when you get all possessive and growly. *sighs* Now, as for tips to keeping the fires burning at home, I must confess it’s pretty easy when you’re so completely attracted to your spouse. I mean, look at him…

Jared – Aw baby, look at you. Isn’t she the most beautiful woman ever? And she’s thoughtful, feisty, and incredibly talented. I’m all sorts of amazed she actually wants to be my wife.

Sheridan – Stop, you’re making me blush.

6) Just for fun: Wall or bed? (I have both available, just saying.)

Jared – Without a doubt, the bed. I can have my pretty little wife every which way and take my time with her. *grins*

Sheridan – Well, how can I follow up that answer? I actually prefer the wall because it brings back fond memories. Plus, I like it when he shows off how strong he is. I mean, I’m not a small girl and he can haul me up and press me against the wall, hold me there while he…

Jared – (whispers, mouth curved in a wicked smile) Getting a little carried away there, wife.

Sheridan – Oh! Sorry. Yes. The wall. Ahem.

Thanks so much to Jared and Sheridan for visiting today! Be sure to leave a comment or question for the happy couple to be entered into the giveaway!
Blurb for GAME FOR MARRIAGE:

He’s going in deep to make her his…

Struggling artist Sheridan Harper never imagined she’d spend a sizzling night with Jared Quinn, the smoking-hot star quarterback of her local professional football team, the San Jose Hawks. And she’s even more shocked when Jared’s publicist offers a proposition: a fake marriage to keep Jared out of the gossip mags. Being that close to Jared would be too tempting, so to protect her heart, she insists on secretly including a clause forbidding sex between them.
Jared just wants to keep his starting QB job and keep it in San Jose. His reputation as a ladies’ man has landed him in the headlines one too many times, but there’s something about his kind, passionate new wife that tempts him beyond reason. Any sort of intimacy between them is completely forbidden, but as their bodies fall in deep, will their hearts follow suit?
Thanks so much to Skye Warren for holding this amazing hop! I'm a huge fan of erotic books and I've always enjoyed writing them. My latest release, MELT (check out the post beneath this one and read on for how you can enter to win an ebook copy) is definitely erotic, and it was a lot of fun to write, despite the darker themes delved into within the pages.

In 2013, I hope to write more erotic books that turn people on and make them think. This year, I'm going to seek out those projects that stimulate my brain as much as the rest of me and hope that all of you enjoy them!

Since this is a giveaway, along with all the prizes listed above, you can also win TWO prizes here:

One winner in the United States will win a fun NO FLOWERS REQUIRED/NO ROMANCE REQUIRED prize pack to celebrate NO ROMANCE REQUIRED's upcoming release. What will you win? A paperback copy of NO FLOWERS REQUIRED, a NFR book thong, a cute yoga cat mini calendar that relates to NO ROMANCE REQUIRED, a lighted snowman ornament AND fun Cari Quinn swag.

One International winner will win an ebook copy of my latest release, MELT, AND an ebook of their choice from my backlist!

How do you enter?

Leave a comment answering this question: (include your email address and which prize you're entering for - US or international OR you can enter both if you're from the US but would like ebooks anyway) You're stranded on New Year's Eve with the hottest man/woman you've ever read about.

I'm really excited to share my new release, MELT, with all of you. It features Justin, a tattooed, tongue-pierced high school guidance counselor hero who likes to spank, and Kylie, a fun, fiesty, fun bartender heroine who can take - and give if need be - whatever Justin dishes out. It's dirty and emotional and I hope you like it!

Blurb:

To Justin Norton, an impending blizzard is the perfect time to push the limits. The last thing he expects to encounter on the trail is a dazed woman next to her overturned snowmobile--especially since that woman is his former lover Kylie Fisher, the bartender he’s been slowly rebuilding a friendship with over a shared love of basketball and lager. He's had some pretty kinky fantasies about her and now that they're alone, he's having a hard time keeping his hands off. But she's weak and hurting...isn't she?

Walking in on her long-term boyfriend with three naked women isn’t the way Kylie intended to celebrate the holidays. Flying on fury, she recklessly hits the trail on her brand new snowmobile. Luckily Justin, her seemingly easygoing knight in flannel and denim, saves her from herself, but does he have the moves to back up the sexy looks he’s flung her way for months? Because if he can’t make her melt, she’s damn sure going to find a man who can. But is she really ready for everything that comes with Justin Norton?

And for fun...a short first kiss excerpt:

“I should get you home,” Justin said, only half-aware of his fingers digging into the soft, fleecy material of her pants. “If you refuse to seek medical attention, your boyfriend”—he almost choked on the word—“can take of you. I’m sure he’s worried.”

Kylie let out a sound caught between a laugh and a hiss. “I really fucking doubt it.” Her gaze rose to his. “What about you? Can you take care of me?”

Before he could come up with an answer, she fisted her hands in the lapels of his jacket and jerked his mouth down to hers.

He didn’t react for a moment. Two. Hard to move away when what he hadn’t dared to want had come to him. Finally. Her lips were inferno hot, backed by enough purpose to have his rock-hard cock leaping. Before her tongue could slip into his mouth and rip away the last shred of his defenses, he gripped her shoulders and gently drew her back. “You must want Rob right now. Let me call him.”

“No.” Her blue eyes gleamed defiantly in the crisscrossing spill of light from their snowmobiles. “I don’t want Rob, Justin.”
Today is a VERY special day, my CP and bestie Taryn Elliott's release day for HOLIDAY SPARKS! I love this story for so many reasons, not the least of which is it's a holiday story.

“I did not expect to do this tonight.” Darcy tugged at his
shirt until it came up over his head. Ben smiled down at her. Pale hair tumbled
over his midnight-colored sheets. She smoothed her palm over his shoulders,
down his arm that wasn’t inked and pulled his hand up to her face.

Peach-soft
skin filled his palm, demanding patience where he wanted only to take. She
explored her way down his other arm, smoothing the pad of her thumb over the
flames that exploded around his shoulder and down to the flashpoint where the
tree sat, then down the serpentine body of the dragon that hugged his forearm.
The tip of her nail traced the dragon tail that circled his wrist, the point
accentuating the Chinese character that bloomed over the inside of his wrist in
a deep red.

She looked up at him and drew her hands up to cup his face,
pulling him down on top of her. The first contact of his skin to hers was so
good he hissed out a groan. The tips of her breasts burned into his skin. She
opened her legs, cradling him into her. He dug his knuckles into the mattress
and lifted himself over her, undulating his hips against where his body wanted
to go most.

She gripped his back, her fingertips tightening on his lower
spine to draw him closer. Her deep green eyes were wide and so fucking innocent
it made his chest ache. She trailed her nails around his belly. The tickle had
him arching over her.

Then she levered herself up and flipped him, straddling his
thighs with a wide smile. Her long, graceful fingers went to his belt. “The
slow thing? Maybe when I’m not so wound up I could scream I’d appreciate it.
But right now?” She flicked her tongue around his navel. “Can’t wait.”

I was tagged by the amazing JENNIFER PROBST so click on her name to visit her site!
What is your working title of your book?

I love birds and the heroine is an ornithologist (she studies birds) and owns my favorite bird, a conure.
I have no idea...but the cover I'm revealing soon comes pretty darn close!
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Neither. It will be pubbed by Samhain 6/18/13.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I'm not quite done yet, but it's taken a while. I first started the story in January, 2011 in the height of flu season. You'll understand why i mention that particular tidbit once you read it!

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Maybe my FULL DISCLOSURE, because both are May/December romances. Both have sexy, confident heroines with a few insecurities they hate to show and hotter than Hades heroes who are deeper than they first appear.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I love birds and cars, so I made my heroine the head of a bird sanctuary and my hero the owner of a repair shop. And umm, smokin' hot Brad would NOT let me alone...

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

Brad knows all about how to make a woman feel better when she's sick. And that's all I'm saying about THAT!

Now to tag five other writers, who if they want to participate just need to answer these questions NEXT Wednesday 12/26 on their blogs and link back to me, as well as picking five other vict...I mean writers to play along!

Christmas is a fun time of year for a lot of reasons. Because my birthday's smack dab in the middle of the holidays, it seems like the entire month of December is one big celebration to me. And who can argue with that? I love the lights, the smells, the sounds...and the meaning behind it all too.

There's nothing I enjoy more than curling up with a steaming mug of peppermint mocha coffee and a good book while a Christmas carol plays on the radio.

And to help you guys out with the book part of that, I'm giving away a set of my first two Entangled ebooks - NO DRESS REQUIRED and NO FLOWERS REQUIRED. I'm working on the third book in the series right now, so this way you'll be prepared to read that one if you win the first two!
