Cruising the Caribbean on a sailing ship is an awesome experience. We cruised on the beautiful Star Clipper around the British Virgin Islands for a glorious week, stopping at numerous islands to dive, explore and experience the local culture.

The food was terrific and the bar on the top deck was a splendid place to meet fellow cruisers.

The snorkeling and exploring quiet beaches was far superior, compared to larger cruise ships where you have to endure loads of people and busy ports.

All in all, I'm sold on the small sailing ships, especially the Star Clipper. Here's a good place to see what the Caribbean is all about.

After a fun Thanksgiving meal with the family the discussion usually gets to the weather. The winter chill is setting in and we start thinking about vacation destinations that are warm and tropical.

Those of you on the east coast are just a short flight to the Caribbean where there are hundreds of delightful beaches and lush tropical islands.There are so many choices it can be difficult to decide where the best location is to suit your dreams.

I'll mention a few of my favorite upscale vacation spots in the Caribbean that I have recently enjoyed.

Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic totally blew me away! The beaches here are incredible, but the golf courses are spectacular! If you golf--Punta Cana is a must visit vacation destination.. The resorts in Punta Cana are also exceptional.

St. Lucia Island is a tropical paradise with dozens of wonderful resorts and a favorite of honeymooners

The Bahamas and Bermuda are the closest and have great golf, beautiful beaches and plenty of entertainment. The Atlantis Resorts offer magnificent attractions for families with children and the One & Only Ocean Club has a world class golf course and fabulous accommodations. It was featured in a James Bond movie.

The Turks & Caicos Islands are now the vacation hot spot for celebrities and upscale visitors. The resorts here are top of the line world class vacation destinations.

This just scratches the surface, however I recommend a professional travel advisor. This will will save you time and a lot of stress and put you in the right place.
