Do You Have Rainmaker Complex Syndrome

This is an affliction I have had since childhood. I'm not sure if it is hereditary, although my father never knew a stranger he would not help. I don't know of a doctor that has been able to suggest a cure, not that I have actually sought out medical advice.

People who have encountered a person with rainmaker complex syndrome will most surely have a lasting experience, which is not easily forgotten. Receivers of these rare encounters with rainmaker complex syndrome persons, usually pass on their positive experience to others that cross their paths.

Do you have this ailment? The symptoms for rainmaker complex syndrome are quite obvious:

Uncontrollable urge to help others succeed.
Hot flashes of people succeeding, whom you have helped. Understand the true life time benefits of Zig Ziglar's powerful statement, "if you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.
Intermittent bursts of collaborative conversation. Selflessly network as an engagement where you ask "how can I help you?" with no thought of reciprocal consideration.
Insatiable appetite to constantly make connections. This may include putting your credibility on the line to personally connect a person who needs something with another person who has something.
Aching motivation for self improvement. Constantly improve interpersonal skills, like reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie or Skill with People by Les Giblin.
Taking a feverish interest in community, but understand local actions do impact the global community at large.
Be the person that friends, associates, coworkers, managers and executives go to for solving problems and making things happen.
Compulsively being proactive about taking action and initiative to insure team success.
Constant ear aches from listening, as a way to open opportunities that benefit individuals and companies around you.
High energy from recognizing your network as the most valuable human capital, which can be leveraged as a commodity to do good for people.
Severe spasms in being a person of influence at the center of your network.
Euphoric sensation results from striving to be a person who leads by example, while following the principles outlined in The Servant Leader: How to Build a Creative Team, Develop Great Morale, and Improve Bottom-Line Performance by James A. Autry.
Keen vision in truly understanding readers are leaders, by using dead time to read 10 minutes a day.

Held in New Rochelle, NY, I had the honor of speaking at the 21st Century Career & Community Expo 2012 hosted by Empowering Today's Professionals and produced by iPower Global Solutions. Before I forget, a little birdie told me registration is now open for the 21st Century Career & Community Expo 2013.

The part I really enjoyed was being on the Comm ittee of Concerned Citizens, which spearheaded the planning and organization of this FREE high energy community expo. A rare synergy was created by merging career professionals, small / big businesses, community leaders, faith based, educational and non-profit organizations for a common cause; serving our community for the improvement of its citizens. Although not planned, I somehow became the master of ceremonies (MC) for the 21st Century Career & Community Expo, helping to guide attendees throughout the event. More importantly, seeing the "ah hah" looks on the attendees faces, as they participated in the information packed workshops with awesome speakers like Rod Colon and Rev. Lamont S. Older than the country of the United States, the birth date of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) is November 10th, 1775. It was established at Tunn Tavern located in Philadelphia, PA. There is a video below to preview what Marine Corps traditions happen tonight at the celebration ball.

After our biological birthday, each year every Marine around the world is empowered to celebrate 11-10-1775 as their second birthday. So tonight we pull out our dress blues uniform to attend the local Marine Corps ball. The oldest and youngest Marine cut the cake at the ball. A couple of associations I belong to are the Marine Corps League Westchester detachment #254 and Together We Served. The Marine Corps League Westchester is currently on high alert with all hands on deck to assist the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. So now you know it's been Marines that have made Santa Claus look good all these years by helping him distribute toys around the world in one night on Christmas eve.

S. government, politicians, Congress or U.S. Presidential administration to act alone in bringing the United States out of its economic tail spin, is a deadly and selfish thought by U. S. Citizens. We need more individuals, organizations and corporations to step up and do their part. Visit the President Awards Volunteer Cafe to see how you can help unemployed neighbors in your community get back to work.

If you don't have time to volunteer, consider purchasing 10 copies (or whatever you can afford) of Win the Race for 21st Century Jobs by Rod Colon and give them out to job seekers who cross your path. I had the awesome opportunity to speak at the ETP Charlotte Networking Group. This career management training education team located in Charlotte, NC is hosted by Empowering Today's Professionals (ETP) faculty leader Amanda Sherman. She is also CEO and founder of Gala Affairs by ATUrBest, which provides event planning services in the Charlotte area. On behalf of the ETP executive committee, I also had the honor of presenting a leadership excellence award to Amanda. This places Mrs. Sherman in the ETP Who's Who Hall of Fame, for outstanding leadership in pioneering the Charlotte Networking Group, as a local community service for over a year.

In this training session I covered the topic of Running Your Career with a Business Owner Mentality, as the CEO of ME, Inc.. One of the hats worn by business owners is being a sales person. Selling is a By Product of Developing Relationships, Not a Goal

Networking strategist, Mindy Selinger, has a down home way of succinctly distilling the true essence of developing win-win-win human relationships. Whether you are a networking newbie or power networker Mindy's book, Face to Face Networking Skills In a Social Media World, provides one of the best primers on networking. In today's economy, networking as a survival tool and front page news are interwoven into daily conversations. The shyest of professionals in a job search, employees and entrepreneurs can put their business into high gear, by reading this networking course contained in 90 pages.

Right up front, Mindy provides a cautionary tale that hits the reader in the gut. Selling has nothing to do with networking. Power networking authors like Rick Frishman (Networking Magic) and Keith Ferrazzi (Never Eat Alone) certainly give solid definitions on what networking is about.
