NM: Forbes magazine calculated that Carlisle Cullen was the wealthiest fictional character because some 350 years of compound interest and investments amassed him a fortune of $34.5 million. How does it feel to be the wealthiest vampire in history?
PF: Actually I was voted number one the year before last, and last year I was voted number two. Scrooge McDuck beat me. I think it’s because I spent a lot of money on the wedding [of Bella and Edward]. It knocked me down a peg.

NM: How happy are you that you don’t have to bleach your hair anymore?
PF: It was tedious to get the blond hair and wear the contacts and have pale skin, but it was part of the character, and I don’t think I would not want to do that. I like that I look different in “Twilight” than I normally do, and that Carlisle is so distinct from everything else that I’ve done. But I am excited that I can go in the sun now — I don’t have to hide in the shadows.

NM: Carlisle is the patriarch of the Cullen clan and, in real life, you’re married to actress Jennie Garth and have three children. Did that help you easily transition into the father figure in “Twilight”?
PF: For sure! When I first heard about the role, I thought I was too young to play the father of a 17-year-old, so I didn’t think I was right. But then I read Carlisle was actually a vampire who looks like a 23-year-old but is actually 350. The two things I think I have in common with Carlisle are that I like to think that I am a compassionate person and I am a father figure, so I know what it’s like to be the head of a family. I did have those strengths going in and I had to create the rest of the character — the way he walks, his cadence and the way he speaks. How do you bring 350 years of experience to the screen? I did a lot of history on the last 350 years of where his travels might have taken him, just because I wanted to have that information inside of me so it felt like I knew his journey.

NM: Do your daughters watch you in the “Twilight” movies?
PF: My 8- and 14-year-old enjoy the movies, but my five-year-old — I don’t know how much she gets. The first time she saw one she was very young and she thought I was Skyping her, so she was talking to the screen.

Elizabeth Talks Breaking Dawn and Madonna With Myspace

MYSPACE: So how you doing today?
ELIZABETH REASER: I’m great. I’m kind of real excited to be back here. I miss, you know, these junkets are weirdly kind of fun, because we’re all like a little family and then, you know, your hair and makeup people come and that’s fun and it’s just – it’s nice.

MYSPACE: And I imagine for this one, the people coming to talk to you include a lot of fans of the series, so they’re really excited about it too.
ELIZABETH REASER: That’s the thing, I guess being part of something where there are people that get more excited than normal to talk to you about these movies. So it’s kind of nice to have real actual fans of the movie.

MYSPACE: How do you feel about ‘Twilight’ being in the home stretch now? This was a really intense one, but it’s almost over. What is that like for you?
ELIZABETH REASER: I’m excited. I feel really satisfied with the experience, because we got to tell the story and we got to finish it and it ended, you know, the way it needed to end. I’m just thrilled that it’s so good. I can’t believe how great the movie was. I saw it a few weeks ago and, when you’re making a movie you have no idea. And obviously I know Bill (Condon) is brilliant and we had a great DP, but I just had no idea that I could be a fan of these movies again.
And watching this movie made me feel like a fan. I haven’t felt that way, really since the first one. Once you’re working on something, you’re too in your head about it. And (watching it) you remember, “Oh, that was the day when I had a stomach ache and blah, blah, blah,” you know? So I completely forgot about all that while watching it.

MYSPACE: This film has all the book’s really shocking moments, like the sex scene, the birth scene. Was there any trepidation entering into this, like “Okay, we’re going to do this.” What was that like for you coming in as an actor?
ELIZABETH REASER: You know, it was fun, I mean, it was different. It put us in different situations as actors and we were suddenly dealing with blood and things that we hadn’t really been dealing with, even though we’ve been playing vampires all these years. So I thought it was really fun and I think that Bill handled it so brilliantly. I mean, we also knew we were in great hands and that was going to be tasteful and riveting and scary freaky, and I think that that’s what it is. I think he was able to make it this really high-end kind of movie and yet it still has all these scary freaky sexy moments in it and – he’s amazing.

Elizabeth To Star In 'How I Learned To Drive'

Two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz will star opposite Emmy Award nominee Elizabeth Reaser in Second Stage Theatre’s revival of Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, How I Learned to Drive, January 24-March 11, with an opening on February 13. Kate Whoriskey will direct.

The play explores the complex relationship between Li’l Bit (Reaser) and her Uncle Peck (Butz), as a series of driving lessons progresses from innocence to something much darker.

Question: What have you learned about your characters?

Jackson: I’ve preferred not to be a blonde.
Elizabeth: I’ve learned patience. (laughs) No, I’ve learned a lot from Esme. She’s always looking for a way to love someone, a way to be kind. That doesn’t come naturally to me all the time. It was good practice.
Nikki: Sometimes playing the not most likable character is challenging because people think it’s a reflection of me. I’ve found a healthy balance of defending our differences, I think

Question: Was there a collective sigh of relief on the last day on set? No longer having to keep up the immortal appearance?

Peter: For me I spent so much time trying to stay out of the sun because the more color you had the more makeup you had to have. When I went to my daught’ers soccer game I looked like the uni bomber.

Question: How do you feel about saying goodbye to these characters? You’ve basically finished it.

Jackson: It’s nice to hang up the contacts. But we have the premiere coming up in a couple days, and then next year, it doesn’t feel like it’s over.
Peter: It feels like a part of it is over. Next year it will feel more complete. Because we’ll see each other during press now, press next year. We still have another year together. It doesn’t feel completely over.
Nikki: We’re both used to revisiting these projects. Everyone asks about the last day of filming. I wish I was creative enough to make up a dramatic tale. It was freezing and we just wanted to get inside. There wasn’t a river of tears. Maybe in 3 or 4 years, if I don’t have a job, I’ll be sad.
Elizabeth: Next year we’ll be sad.
Peter: The end of filming was strange. 1st unit wrapped, then there was a separate film wrap mark. I do remember on last day with Elizabeth hugging which felt like forever.

In a photo session in Culver City, California, Peter Facinelli is casually in a window with his legs stretched backwards. He is tall and thin, with classic Roman features: the forehead, an aquiline nose. Against the natural light coming through the large glass window, it becomes a figure, his features sharp casting shadows on his face. He sets his sights on something in the distance and seems thoughtful, melancholy, a bit moody. He leans forward to stare at the camera and then, without warning, comes to his feet and climbs onto the ledge of the window. His position has changed, his exuberant energy and power and improvise. Just like that, which has been transformed from one character to another.

Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlisle Cullen) is featured cover story of the Oct/Nov issue of Louisiana’s Scene Magazine! Peter talked about his latest projects, Facinelli Films, Nurse Jackie, directing, his wonderful work with St. Jude’s Children’s cancer research, Alex’s Lemonade Foundation and of course playing our beloved Daddy C, Dr. Carlisle Cullen.

MH: Is there any connecting at all through the doctor you play onNurse Jackie to Dr. Carlisle Cullen?

PF: Absolutely none, which is what I love about it (laughs). They’re so distinctly different. I mean, they’re probably 180 degrees from each other. When I was thinking about doing the show I thought, “What a fun thing to do because I have this one character, Carlisle, who’s kind of the rock of the family, he’s very mature, he’s confident, he’s compassionate and the leader of this family who everyone looks to. Then you have this other guy who’s basically very immature, self-absorbed, childlike and I thought, “What a fun world…to play two doctors who are so completely different that the only thing they share is the same white jacket.”

MH: And you’ve been shooting both Twilight and Nurse Jackie simultaneously, correct?

PF: On last couple of Twilight movies, I’ve done double duty, doing both at the same time, so they kind of overlapped. I thought it would be really difficult, but it actually was refreshing. I’d be doing three days on Twilight, doing Eclipse or Breaking Dawn and then I would fly back somewhere else and all of a sudden be in a completely different environment doing a completely different character. It broke the monotony. I love both characters so much that it was fun to be able to go back and forth between the two. Sometimes people ask me, “Do you ever get the lines confused or the roles confused?” They’re so distinctly different that, no.

Facinelli took a time out from getting Wonka-fied to talk about making costumes with his three daughters, whether he could be "Dr. Carlisle Cullen" in real life, and where he’ll be the night Breaking Dawn comes out. Are you freaking out yet? It's time.

MM: Does your house look like one big, foggy Butterfinger?

Peter Facinelli: Spookier than that! There are devilish looking oompa loompas lurking. And there's fog everywhere! I just got home, and when I pulled up to the house, I thought it was on fire because of all the fog. Really just a huge fog machine.

MM: How will you keep from gnawing on your candy house?

PF: I'm thinking that the kids are going to go to town tomorrow. Maybe the gobstoppers will stop them.

MM: Sorry to hear that one of your daughters went home from school sick today. How’s she doing?

PF: My youngest daughter left school this afternoon with a stomach ache and now she's eating Laffy Taffy. Much better [laughs].

Yesterday, we posted an article on Elizabeth at Time Warner’s Beyond 9/11 Photo Exhibit as well as an interview with Hollywood Life. These guys have now released another part of the interview where Elizabeth talks about her Twilight co-stars

“I adore Rob and Kristen. They are like family to me,” Elizabeth says. “They are both very shy and very sweet. Kristen is just a little sweetheart and I love her. And Rob is the same guy I met four years ago. I don’t even think of them as celebrities until I’m going somewhere where they will be and then there’s screaming and freaking out. It almost doesn’t register until we’re in a setting like Comic Con.”
