A new section on CVSD.com: A One Paseo Overview. This is a place where I'll post information on the project and possible ideas to make this development better match the character of Carmel Valley. I hope our community ends up with more of a village feel, rather than the massive housing and retail blocks currently proposed by Kilroy. Here, you'll find a place to get independent news from a site that isn't supported by the developer, or anyone else!

Residential Burglaries and Door-to-Door Salespeople

I don't know if this is related to the recent string of burglaries in the area, but something to be aware of. Note that our local police non-emergency number is 858-484-3154 (this type of report is NOT an emergency, unless you feel threatened or see a burglary in progress.)

The La Jolla, Bird Rock Neighborhood Watch reports: In the past few days, the Bird Rock Community Council received 5 compliants about solicitors in our neighborhood. At the January meeting with the police, we were told that these door to door sales people are CASING are homes. Please call the police to make a report... The police are asking that we call them.

North Shore Girls Softball Opening Night 2012

A fun-filled night for players and their families, the event will be at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center (3777 Townsgate Dr.) starting at 5:15 pm. If you're going to the event, arrive early because parking will be limited. Non-participants might want to avoid the area, as parking will be limited! Towne Bakery coming to the Del Mar Highlands Town Center

Here's an article from the Carmel Valley News that the Del Mar Highlands Town Center will be getting a new bakery, called Towne Bakery. They write, "In addition to its traditional offerings, Towne Bakery will highlight signature items and unique creations such as 'Pie Pockets', whoopie pies, homemade puddings and cheesecakes." It looks like they'll be serving both coffee and great baked goods starting in March 2012! Hope this doesn't impact the existing Village Mill Bread Company or the French Champagne Bakery!

Love To Dance, a dance studio in Torrey Hills, is holding a "Hot Jazz Mardi Gras Party" (Parents' Night Out) on February 11, 2012. Love To Dance says, "Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. One Paseo - What Kilroy is Showing Investors

Kilroy has conveniently placed on their website (inside of a Jan 2011 Kilroy Investor's report covering San Diego) some nice overviews of the One Paseo project in Carmel Valley. So, while they show their investors this Early One Paseo Development Overview and this Later One Paseo Development Overview, they continue to show us One Paseo Marketing Imagry. Look at how massive the development is when presented to investors and compare it to the marketing fluff we get to see. Yes, I know the images are out-of-date, but the newer one isn't that far off. Leap Year Special: 2 Free Library Concerts in Feb, 2012

This February, we get 2 free concerts at the Carmel Valley Library, one on Feb. 8 and one on Feb. 29! The Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will present The Life and Music of Samuel Barber on Feb. 8. This program will explore the life and music of Samuel Barber, one of America’s greatest composers of art songs, with narration by Joanne Regenhardt, songs by soprano Janelle DeStefano, and piano accompaniment and solos by James Frimmer. Then on Feb. 29, pianist Michael Chang will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Lowell Liebermann, and Sergei Prokofiev.
