The ceremony took place in the barn and Tom and Luke walked in together, which I thought was a lovely touch. Afterwards the couple received many congratulatory hugs from their friends and family as drinks and canapes were served outside in the sunshine. Pretty soon it was time for me to capture some relaxed portraits of Tom and Luke around the grounds of Haselbury Mill. During our initial correspondence Tom had told me that he was quite anxious about how I would do these type of shots of him and Luke “without the stonking great dress as the primary eye catcher” as he put it! I do hope he’s happy with what I captured…and I’ll admit it was nice not to have to worry about making sure the dress was all arranged prettily for a change!

During the speeches family members talked about what a wonderful couple Tom & Luke made and it was clear to me how much they meant to each other. I particularly enjoyed capturing Luke’s reaction to the amazing framed drawing Tom gave him as a gift – it was really touching.

Kate & Sean held their ceremony at St Martin of Tours church in the village of West Coker. Kate had been quite nervous during the preparations in the morning but she seem excited and confident by the time she made her way into the church. From the minute she was inside her eyes went straight to the front, seeking out Sean, and it was a lovely moment when as she reached him she leant over and gave him a kiss!

After the ceremony the newlyweds went for a drive in the bridal car whilst their guests made their way over to Haselbury Mill for the reception and once they arrived I stole them away for a few minutes to get some portraits of the two of them. I love to make use of the ham stone barn as a background to couples portraits when I’m photographing weddings at Haselbury Mill as the colour is just gorgeous!

I photograph weddings quite regularly at Ston Easton Park but it’s been a while since I had one with the ceremony taking place at the village church. It’s not far from the hotel so many of the guests chose to walk there and make the most of the sunshine (I’m afraid I was lazy and drove although I did have a lot of equipment that would have been hard to carry – well that’s my excuse anyway!). I was pleased to see that a different vicar was performing the ceremony as the last one didn’t allow me to take any photographs…always frustrating and such a shame for the couple when this happens as it means they don’t get any pictures from during the most important part of their day.

Juliette’s dress was very unusual and her entrance into church caused gasps from the congregation around me…she looked stunning! I’m so pleased that I was able to capture Tyrone’s face as he saw her for the first time too…one of my favourite moments of the day.

After church everyone returned to the hotel to enjoy drinks and canapes outside in the sunshine. It was clear that the couple had put a lot of thought and effort into the details of their day, with a vintage theme to the tables and a wonderful message tree. The beautiful cake was made by Tyrone himself…that’s got to be a first hasn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a groom making his own wedding cake before. I hope it tasted as good as it looked!

Fiona & Ben had decided to keep their celebrations small and intimate with just 11 people attending including themselves and this made for a very relaxed day. I started my coverage with Ben and best man Ollie as they went through the details with the registrars. When Fiona arrived she was escorted in by her father and daughter Olivia (and not forgetting the very important Brown Dog!). The ceremony itself was short but sweet with readings from Ben’s brother Ollie and his girlfriend Sarah to add a personal touch to the formalities.

Afterwards everyone enjoyed champagne in the drawing room as Ollie proposed a toast to the newlyweds and then Fiona, Ben and myself snuck off to do a few relaxed portraits around the grounds of the hotel. As Fiona said, when you plan your wedding for March you don’t get your hopes up for the weather but we were very fortunate to enjoy some gorgeous sunshine and mild temperatures whilst we wandered around.

The meal was held in the conservatory after some wonderful speeches by Fiona’s Dad, Ben and Ollie.

Anna and Junior had rented a lovely cottage to host their wedding celebrations and this is where I headed in the morning to photograph the preparations. Junior and the boys were putting the final touches to the food…and braving the heat in the kitchen…whilst Anna was nervously getting ready next door.

The couple had wanted somewhere special for their wedding ceremony and the quaint Lady Margaret’s chapel in Honiton fit the bill perfectly. After a sweet ceremony there was just enough time for some pictures outside before everyone headed back to the cottage to enjoy a lovely feast!

I started my coverage as usual with Caroline and the final preparations and with everyone being at the one location I was able to pop in and photograph Ed getting ready too. The couple had done an amazing job with all the little details and the ceremony room looked fabulous with lots and lots of candles and petals all around.

We were incredibly fortunate with the weather on Saturday and managed to time our portrait session with some amazing light as the sun started to set across the fields. I love this time of year with it’s golden light and colourful trees and I was very pleased with the pictures I managed to take.

Soon it was time for everyone to head indoors and be seated before enjoying some great speeches and a delicious meal!

Tania works in fashion so it wasn’t a surprise that she had an amazing dress to get married in…a vintage 60′s dress that was worn at Studio 64 bought from Lily Allen’s store in Soho. What a gorgeous colour it was too!
