But as they learned about the "tubes" and began to travel through them, they became just another aspect of the known world... taken for granted like everything else.

Seven testimonies address the question "Who are the Xotron?"

Just who are the Xotron? Seven current and former members of the Xotron dominion share their perspectives.

The story was written by Eric Carter with some help from Jason Bane, and the artwork was done by Brandon Leach and Shoham "Leo" Charikar. Brandon created the cover along with chapters 1, 4, and 7, while Leo drew and painted chapters 2, 3, 5, and 6.

Can four Astaver alphas work together to win Fara Nexa?

Bedra dal Erbaden has (so far) been successful in ensuring his colony's survival despite a string of mismanaged disasters and now, finally, reinforcements are on the way. Yet Bedra's antagonizers, the Astaver-Dovars, have taken Porg territory and established air superiority—mostly through capturing Nexa City's gigantic aircraft hangar with the majority of Bedra's ships inside. Only a deluge of radiation emanating from a captured Xotron ship prevents the Astaver-Dovars from using the other ships in the hangar to their advantage. And that radiation is fading.

Transmissions Intercepted is the second volume of the Transmissions saga. This volume follows the Astavers & Dovars as they press their advantage against the Porgs on Fara Nexa. The story was conceived and written by Eric Carter, and the eye-catching art is the handiwork of Anthony Cournoyer.

Happy New Year everyone! It's been a while since our last update, and so here is another update. PREPARE TO BECOME UPDATED!

We've been working behind the scenes on quite a few things. Aside from Skies are Falling and volume 2 of Transmissions, we've got a new story by Eric Carter in the works. I can't share the title or the plot of the comic yet, but I can say it concerns the Xotron and it's a collaboration between Brandon Leach and Shoham "Leo" Charikar, two artists that have each created a considerable amount of concept art for us when we were still in pre-production mode. Here's some past Carpe Chaos concept art from Brandon, a Porg ship:

The story should be about 35 pages and it should be AMAZING! I've added Brandon and Leo to the About the Team page, with portraits painted by the very same Leo. Check out their biography snippets if you want to look them up on DeviantArt.

We've added another comic to our ad rotation, which brings us to a total of 9 advertisers. If you haven't clicked these links yet, they're all worth your attention:

Thanks to everyone that stopped by my table and talked with me about the comic! I had a great time talking about Carpe Chaos and comic stuff in general with everyone that stopped by. The papercraft models were a hit as always:

And it was great to catch up with Antidote Trust members Dale and Khalid, who watched over my table while I was out snatching up awesome comics and toys:

But the sad news is that we are slowing our release rate to 1-2 pages per week for the foreseeable future. Please don't think that Carpe Chaos is ending or anything like that. It's just that we've been pushing ourselves for over two years to post (on average) more than a page every two days and because this project hasn't caught fire in the way that we'd hoped, we're slowing down to reclaim a bit of our personal lives :-). Phew, things have finally calmed down in the post San Diego Comiccon rush long enough for me to write a recap. We had an amazing show! More people than ever came up to our table and recognized our comic, and we sold out of both Jailing Fortune #1 and Carpe Chaos Ignition! Truly a banner year for SDCC! :D

Our table started a little cluttered:

But then my graphic designer friend Trevor said we should try a sparser look, less is more, that kinda thing, and he was totally right:

The sparser layout made it much easier to highlight the concetrated awesome in every single item.

It's funny cause when we started doing this, I thought of myself as a very bad salesman. But now after something like our 12th con, my friends were complimenting how great of a saleman I was. Trying to sell stuff 900 times a day for 10 days is good practice I guess. :)

Hope to see you at SDCC next year!

Time again for a monthly NEWS ROUNDUP! Here's some Carpe Chaos news... FOR YOU!!

The first three chapters of Skies are Falling are done! The story's going to be on a break for a couple of months while we continue the Transmissions saga, but it will return when volume 1 of Transmissions is done!
Meanwhile chapter 3 of Transmissions Volume 1, otherwise known as Transmissions from Fara Nexa, has begun! We're uploading new pages all this month, with a new page every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. And when chapter 3 is done we're planning on going straight to chapter 4, which will conclude Volume 1.
Eric will be at San Diego Comic Con next weekend, July 12th through the 15th! If you're going, please please please give him a visit at small press table Q 13. He'll be there with all of our books, posters, shirts, papercraft models, bookmarks, and more! Everyone who stops by will get a free papercraft Porg and papercraft Kaean to put together.

A fledgling Porg space force investigates an elusive mystery.

The first Porg military forces in space were plagued by a rash of unexplained equipment failures. Satellites and other unmanned vessels disappeared, leaving no clues behind. The Porgs formed investigation teams to monitor as many of their remote star systems as they could, hoping to catch a disappearance as it occurred. And they got lucky.

Skies are Falling tells the story of the Porgs that unraveled the mystery of the vanishing satellites. It takes place years before the signing of The First Interstellar Treaty for Peace and Ethics, in a star system far away from the nearest Porg colony. Jason Bane composed the story, and every last bit of the artwork was drawn and painted by Daniel Allen.

With the sunny world of Karlan as a backdrop, Reinvention explores the measures people can take to escape their innermost demons, and the peace that comes with facing them instead. All of the gorgeous artwork in Reinvention was digitally composed and painted by Daniel Allen, and the story itself was spun by Ted Anderson and Jason Bane.

A valiant hero strives to save his village from obliteration.

A traveling bard retells an ages-old myth for two young farm children to pay for his supper. In this popular tale from ancient Porg lore, a rebellious peasant named Midigan is captured by the wicked King Puscilis and locked away in a magical tower of coral. Will Midigan find a way to escape his prison and protect his village from the King's advancing army?

Joe Slucher created the style and all of the pages for the mythological meat of this story, while Anthony Cournoyer drew and colored the modern-day scenes. Jason Bane and Eric Carter wrote the script.

A missionary sparks an exchange between pen pals.

A traveling Porg missionary fights despair and rejection as he searches for brothers to join him in his faith. An artifact of his proselytization lies dormant for years, but upon rediscovery sparks an enlightening discussion between a contrasting pair of bookshop owners.

Set mostly on Artacuse and beginning in Embarnik 4, Door to Door touches on the trials of spreading a religion and compares the religious history of the Porg fringe religion Montarism with Lhytanism, the spiritual foundation of all modern Kaean civilization. The visual artwork for this story was created by Joe Slucher, and the story was written by Eric Carter and Jason Bane.

This story is set in the year Embarnik 60 on an out-of-the-way planet near a colony founded primarily to imprison the convicts of other settlements. Drawn, inked, and colored by Anthony Cournoyer, and written by Eric Carter.

A Porg parent scares his son with some frightening truths, and a team of Kaean colonists investigate the suitability of a recently unoccupied planet. This story poses the question: "Why, with so many opportunities for intelligent life in even a single galaxy, are there so few space-faring species?" And it posits an answer.

Filter Dregs is an exploration of the concept of the Great Filter, which is the obstacle that limits the number of enduring, space-colonizing civilizations. It was written by Eric Carter and Jason Bane, and drawn and painted entirely by Anthony Cournoyer.

A mother teaches her son a piece of their forbidden culture.

A leisurely stroll becomes an opportunity for a mother to pass down a small part of her cultural heritage to her son: she teaches him how to count in the old-fashioned way of their ancestors. But they must be careful, lest the Xotron discover their resistance to the "homogenization" occurring during this time period.

This story is set on the Turikasuul homeworld of Suulmalla and takes place during the time when the Xotron occupied all of that planet. Daniel Allen expertly illustrated and painted this story in bright, rich, digital watercolors. Story by Eric Carter.

It's bedtime for a young Kaean girl when a monster appears in the window. She calls out, but her mother won't believe her! In the end it's just as well; her parents can't protect her anyway. Not from this.

Worst Case Scenario is set in a young Kaean colony on a planet a good ways away from their home planet of Bairyth (depicted in a painting in this Kaean family's living room). Eric Carter wrote the story, and Daniel Allen brought it to life.

Their journey embodies the ongoing endeavor for meaning and spiritual guidance shared by nearly all Kaeans, though an outside observer may see their ritual as little more than a serious hike.

This contemplative story showcases the stunning artwork of Anthony Cournoyer and the unique environment of the Kaeans. Written by Eric Carter and Jason Bane.
