I get asked a lot about the type of cleaning that we do at Arizona Carpet and Tile Cleaning. The method that we use is hot water extraction using professional truckmounted units. The machines that we use are the Prochem Apex and the Hydramaster Boxxer 427 which are highly rated by the CRI (Carpet and Rug Institute) as being some of the best machines on the market. Most carpet manufactures recommend (click for link of carpet manufactures) hot water extraction as the best way to clean their carpets and to keep the warranty intact. Other types of cleaning are dry cleaning, which is a chemical that is spread around with a rotary tool and then extracted by vacuuming. The problem is, is that most of the time there is residue left over and that is the main cause for reoccurring stains and problems. There is a reason that the biggest dry cleaning company Chem-Dry, is starting to use hot water extraction. Another way of cleaning, is the do it your self option or the use of a rug doctor or similar machine. These machines will clean, but they won't clean as deep or as good as a truckmount because of the vacuum size or the heat that is generated from a truckmount. Most people that use these aren't happy and realize that there really isn't much difference in pricing when you do it yourself.

Arizona Carpet and Tile Cleaning prides themselves on honesty and integrity. We are sorry to say that there are a lot(if not most) of the carpet cleaners in Phoenix, that are out for the quick buck and take advantage of the customers that they service. This leads to trust issues when getting their carpets cleaned again, or the try to do it themselves with a rental (not a good choice) or even worse they choose not to get them cleaned again. "Bait and Switchers" are cleaners typically with a coupon or advertisement that says "$6.00 per room - No Minimum" which reels (or BAITS) you in and you give them a call to come do the service. If you think about it, lets say that you just have 5 rooms to clean, how can a company come and clean your carpet's for $30.00? When you factor in gas (for both the vehicle and the machine), advertising, insurance, employee, professional strength cleaners and wear and tear on the equipment, there is no question that they are losing money. Well they would, until they SWITCH the price on you when they get there. What will happen is that they will tell you that you need preconditioning (which they will sell you per sqft) or that your carpets are dirtier than they thought and you need to have a deeper cleaning. By the time they are done, your bill is at close to $200.00 and that doesn't even include reapplying the scothguard that they just wiped off your carpet. Pet Stain Removal Answers

Arizona Carpet & Tile Cleaning gets calls and questions all the time about the process of removing pet stains and smells. When confronted with a customer that has pet stains and smells the first first thing we do is try and figure out what locations they are in and see how bad they are. After determining the locations we first clean your carpets thoroughly (using a little more water in the urinse spots to flush it out), then we use a urine stain remover that breaks up the enzymes in the urine to remove the stain which needs to set for 1-8 hours to eliminate the stain. The last step that we do is use an oder eliminator and deodorizer for any odors that may be left behind. ***Please be aware that if the urine has been sitting in in a spot for a long period of time that it may soak into the pad or possibly into the sub-floor to the extent that the pad will have to be disposed of, the subfloor treated and then new pad to be reinstalled. The first and best chance you have for this not to happen is to soak up any urine ASAP with a damp towel.

Why Some Carpet Stains Dont Come Out

Arizona Carpet and Tile Cleaning uses the best cleaning agents and machines on the market to clean our customers carpets. There are specific additives that we also use for different situations and stains, but there are times that not all stains come out and here is why. The reason is that its not a stain at all, its called "apparent soiling". Apparent soiling is the appearance of soil (dirt or stains) even though the carpets are totally clean. The reasons for the appaernt soiling can be one of these (Ranked from most common to least common):

1. Shading - The causes of shading is the abrasion to a carpet fiber from particulate soil. Imagine if you take a piece of acrylic or nylon rod and rub it on concrete or sand paper, it would scratch and abrade. The same thing is true with carpet fibers in heavy traffic areas and areas that are abused. When you have new carpet it is smooth and the cleanliness is brouhgt out by light relection. So if you have carpet fibers with abrasion next to ones that dont, light will reflect off of the abraded ones diferently which will make them look dirty and dull. HELPFUL TIP : Vacuuming having walkoff mats can help prevent soils that cause shading.

2. Wear - Wear, as defined by many carpet manufactures, is an actual reduction in pile height. It is rare for sythetic fibers to physically wear away to any significant extent, but it can happen to natural fibers (wool, cotton & silk). Any wear will make an obvious difference in the way the carpet looks. Areas in fron of furniture, in hallways, and in fron of doorways may suffer the bulk of the wear.

3. Fading - The causes of fading or color loss are: sunlight, acid oils, electric light sources, gases, time combined with old oxidizing oils and soils. Areas that are prone to fading are in front of glass doors and windows, along wall edges and HVAC registers. Near a patio door that is used for access to the outside, it is possible to have high degree of color loss, but not recognize it until you have the carpet professionally cleaned removing the soil buildup.
