This week over at Create with Connie and Mary the ladies have a fantastic sketch challenge. I decided to use the Betsy's Blossom Stamp Set along with one of the Floral Frames Framelits for my card. I also wanted to use a color combo that was a bit outside my comfort zone so I chose Melon Mambo, Midnight Muse and Lucky Limeade. To finish it off I added some Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine & a dahlia.

Postage Due

For this week's Saturday Challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary the ladies have a fantastic sketch challenge. I decided to use the Postage Due Stamp Set. I simply colored the stamp and cut it out using a Label Collection Framelit. I finished it off with a natural button and a Baker's Twine bow colored with Classic Ink.

I used the new Blast Off Stamp Set which is perfect for any little boy. I added a piece of Window Sheet to the actual window and some So Saffron Brads.

Oval Accent Favor Box

Today over at Create with Connie and Mary the Saturday challenge was to make something fun using the new dies or framelits from the catalog. I had a lot of fun with this. I decided to make a small favor box. I simply made my 3 in. x 3 in. x 1 1/2 in. box using Baja Breeze Card Stock. Next, I cut out two Rich Razzleberry Oval Accents and scored each one on the right side. Then using Sticky Strip I attached them to each side of the box. The flaps were folded and attached to the bottom of the box as well. I couldn't just stop with the new Oval Accent, so I also added a flower from the Floral Frames Framelits underneath my pinwheel as an extra layer. I added my bamboo skewer as a stick for my pinwheel and finished it off with a Vintage Faceted Button and butterfly. I also have to admit that I would not normally like or use DSP this bold, but WOW...I love this Floral District DSP. It is so cheerful and bright. I can't wait to use it again!

Everything Eleanor

This week over at Create with Connie and Mary the ladies have a fabulous sketch challenge for you. I really love this sketch because you can keep it simple or fancy it up a bit. I had to use one of my new favorite stamp sets...Everything Eleanor. The flowers are stamped in Midnight Muse and then I colored them in a bit with my Summer Starfruit Stampin' Write Marker. I added a bit of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter to the centers as well. The butterfly was punched out using the new Elegant Butterfly Punch and I added a new Vintage Faceted Designer Button to it. To finish the card off, I added a strip of the new Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon which I love.

Paper Firecrackers

The only firecrackers we will be seeing this Fourth of July are these little paper ones. We are officially under a county wide fire ban so that also means no city fireworks display either. I decided we had to have something for the little ones so I put these together. Inside each firecracker there are snappers, sliders and a champagne popper inside a medium Cello Bag. They were quite simple to put together too. I used a piece of 4 1/2 in. x 5 1/2 in. DSP with a strip of white tissue paper snailed to the top. I then added a piece of Sticky Strip on one side to keep them shut. The flame is a leaf cut from the leaves die with the edges sponged in Tangerine Tango Ink. To finish them off I added little tags with their initials and some of the fabulous new Real Red Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

Make a Cake

We are finishing up week 2 with the New Catalog Edition over at Create with Connie and Mary. The projects of course have been fabulous. Today we have a great sketch challenge. I had to use the new Make a Cake set for this challenge because I think the pennants from the sketch go well with this set. It just screams birthday celebration to me. lol I used the Patio Party DSP, Baja Breeze and Summer Starfruit for the pennants. I stamped my cake on the circle in Midnight Muse and then stamped it again on a scrap in Primrose Petals. Then I carefully cut the cake layers out and poped them up with Stampin' Diminsionals. I added a little "happy birthday" pennant. The stick is actually just a toothpick I cut the end off of.

Need for Speed

This week's color challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary stumped me a bit...Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Gray. I had the Need for Speed Stamp Set picked out and as I started working with the colors I just couldn't get it right. I also had my jet colored and cut out so I was using it no matter what. lol Finally, I came up with something I was satisfied with. I decided to sponge my sky and add a big Pumpkin Pie sun. I could live with this. lol The Real Red layer is embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder and I added a couple of Pumpkin Pie brads to finish it off. A pretty basic layout don't you think?

Heartfelt...From My Heart

So I think the new From My Heart Stamp Set has so many uses. I keep finding myself using it as the main focal point on my cards though. I know it's in the Greetings Section of the catalog, but I think it's so much more than just an ordinary "greeting stamp set". I started with Midnight Muse as my card base and added a layer of Pool Party embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. I then added frame stamped in Midnight Muse from the stamp set and cut it out using one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. I then added another accent and banner. The card is finished off with the little leaves and flowers.

Sunday was the start of the New Catalog Edition over at Create with Connie and Mary and during the edition we have a Saturday Challenge. So today the ladies have a lovely color challenge...Cajun Craze, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit and Soft Suede. I have once again used the Papaya Collage Stamp Set for my card. I just can't seem to get enough of it! I started off with a Soft Suede card base and then added a layer of Pool Party that I embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. Next, I stamped the frame in Cajun Craze and the foliage in Summer Starfruit Classic Ink. I also had to add an Apothecary Accents label to it as well since I can't get enough of those framelits either. lol To finish it off I added some Linen Thread and a Summer Starfruit Dahlia.

This week over at Create with Connie and Mary the ladies have put together a fun sketch challenge for you. I have to admit this one was a bit different from what I'm used to, but I loved it once I got it put together. This is a sketch I will definitely be using again. I decided to use the From My Heart Stamp Set. This set has so many great sayings and best of all the stamp I used on this card coordinates with a framelit Labels Collection. I used my Stampin' Write Markers to color my image in Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red and More Mustard. The layers are More Mustard Card Stock, Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon and a piece of the fabulous Fan Fair DSP. I finished the card off with a Basic Rhinestone in the center of the stamped image.

Daring Adventure Matchbook Album

In keeping with my current theme...sharing old stuff, I thought I would share this matchbook album I made for my mom and mother- in- laws for Christmas. I used the Daring Adventure Stamp Set and Well worn DSP throughout the album. The matchbook albums are super easy to put together and it didn't take me long to make four of them (I had to have one too). I believe they have four pages in them. They were a little thick, but I probably used way to many embellishments on the inside. lol I have to have lots of embellishments.

Here lately I keep seeing pictures all over the place that have a vintage look and I love it. I decided I needed a few to scrapbook. So I edited some recent pictures (courtesy of my wonderful sister- in- law Kelli) in Picasa. I love how they turned out. They look like some of my childhood pictures. The best part is Picasa is very user friendly. You simply upload your pictures to Picasa and click on Edit in Creative Kit. From there you just go into Effects and I chose the Polaroid Plus Effect. That's it! I'm sure there are lots of other programs out there that do the same thing, but Picasa is just so easy to use. So far I'm happy with the results. However, I didn't have a chance today to pick the pictures up so I hope they are just as good in real life. Cute huh?

Gently Falling...

While I've been working like crazy with lots of new fabulous products from the catalog, I still have a few projects from many months back I still want to share. So today I thought I would sneak this 5 x 5 card in I made for a wedding last Fall. I used the Gently Falling Stamp Set and Spice Cake DSP. The inside has a pocket which holds a tag with the gift card attached. The tag I used was cut from the Two Tags Die...one of my favorite dies. A bit of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon finishes this card off on the outside and inside.

Sweet Strawberry Punch Art

Happy Friday! Today I want to share a sweet little card I made. The strawberries are made using the Full Heart and 5- Petal Flower Punches. I also used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder to give them a bit of texture. This is a super simple layout and easy to throw together in no time. To finish off the strawberries I added little Whisper White flowers with So Saffron brads.

So today over at Create with Connie and Mary we have a wonderful color challenge going on...Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo and Crumb Cake. These colors shabby up quite nicely don't you think? I used the new Postage Due Stamp Set along with a few other new products. I started with an Island Indigo card base and added a piece Crumb Cake card stock as well. I then added a piece of the Fan Fair DSP on top of that. I love that new DSP too!! To finish it off I added a Cherry Cobbler butterfly punched out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch with a Vintage Faceted Designer Button in the center.

French Foliage Layout

I haven't shared a scrapbook layout for awhile so I thought I would share one today. I made this layout last Fall...yes I'm just now getting around to getting it posted. lol I used the French Foliage Stamp Set and the now retired Frostwood Lodge DSP. I hand stitched along the side and the oval is canvas that I inked with Early Espresso Classic Ink. I also added a couple of feathers I had.

Papaya Collage

I think one of my new favorite sets is Papaya Collage. I have grown very fond of this stamp set. lol This card was super easy to put together and I really love how it turned out. I did lots of stamping, but I didn't add many layers. Sometimes I just love simple and this card is just that. I also used all new In Colors. I have to admit when I first laid eyes on them I really did not like any of them at all. However, when my order came and I pulled the card stock and ink pads out of the box I fell in love with them instantly. Almost all of my projects within the last month have had at least one new In Color on them. The frame and the butterfly are stamped in Raspberry Ripple and the greenery is stamped in Gumball Green. I added a Midnight Muse frame cut from one of Apothecary Accents Framelits. A simple Linen Thread bow and Basic Rhinestones finish this card off.

I Dig You

Today we are celebrating by sweet nephews "2" birthday. My sister made his invitations using the I Dig You Stamp Set so I thought I would keep with the theme and use that same set. She used the cute little dump truck, but I decided to change it up a bit and go with the digger instead. I pieced it together so the arm and bucket actually move! This idea came from Lisa Martz over at Get Your Stamp On. The pieces are held together with silver brads and instead of going with bright colors I decided to use some regals...Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and More Mustard. I also really love the clouds and how the one looks as though it is shadowing the sun. I just simply used a Sponge Dauber and sponged Whisper White Craft Ink onto the card stock.

Mixed Bunch- Create with Connie and Mary

Today over at Create with Connie and Mary there is a great sketch challenge going on. I decided to use the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set for my card along with a few of the new In Colors. I started with a card base of Soft Suede. Next, I used the Adorning Accents Edgelit Die to cut the Cajun Craze Card Stock and then I added a piece of First Edition DSP at the bottom of the layer. I punched my flower out and added a couple of layers to the center. To finish it off I just added some leaves and and a Cajun Craze brad.

Butterfly Punch Pansies

I have been working with some new stamp sets and products from the new catalog (when I have a few moments which seems to be rare lately). However, I wanted to share this pansy card even though the Butterfly Punch has officially retired. These pansies are super easy to make and you can find the tutorial here. Dawn Olchefske has a fantastic video tutorial on how to make them using the Butterfly Punch, Ink Refills and Shimmery White Card Stock. I sponged the sky using a template I made from the Cupcake Builder Punch. I just snailed the cupcake tops to a scrap of white card stock and sponged around them with Bashful Blue Classic Ink. To finish it off I added some white sting and a couple of tiny tags.

I also want to share a few pictures of what has consumed most of my time here lately along with not feeling well from seasonal allergies. Mike and I put in a rather large herb garden along the side our house. However, I also have all sorts of new flowers planted in there as well. We have a nice big backyard, but the we spend so much time outdoors that we didn't want to loose any of that space. So one of my BFFs, Neelie, who is a master gardener suggested this idea. What a fantastic idea it was. I no longer have that bare awkward space along side the house that you can't help but notice as you pull down the driveway. Everything is filling out and blooming quite nicely. I have everything from Basil to Tomatoes to Garlic to Columbine planted in there. It's quite a variety. I really forgot how much time gardening takes up though. I haven't really had a chance to do any real gardening since before Chase was born so I'm for sure enjoying it this year.

My garden markers are super simple...bamboo skewers and clothespins. lol

Apothecary Accents Framelits with Fruit & Flowers

This week over at Create with Connie and Mary we have a fabulous color challenge for you...Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso. These are some of my favorite colors and they go great together. I also couldn't resist using the new Apothecary Accents Framelit Dies from the upcoming catalog. These frames are just gorgeous and they layer oh so well. I do believe that my card this week has lots going on with all the different textures and shapes. lol To me this is a bit different from my usual style, but I do love how it turned out. I started with an Early Espresso base, added two strips of Lucky Limeade scallops and a Wisteria Wonder strip that was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. Next, I added the Apothecary Accents frames. I used the Fruit & Flowers Stamp Set for my flowers and cut the large flower out. To finish it off I added a butterfly cut from Silver Glimmer Paper using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die. I wasn't sure if I could cut though the Glimmer Paper, but I managed to. Of course you can't see the embossing, but I am perfectly OK with that.

I couldn't resist using another Sneak Peek Stamp Set for this week's sketch challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary. The stamp set...Memorable Moments. This is such a versatile set and has so much potential for lots of different projects. I also used a few of the new 2012- 2013 In Colors...Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals and Gumball Green. I started with a Crumb Cake base and stamped the flourish from the Creative Elements Stamp Set in Gumball Green. Next, I added my Labels in Midnight Muse and Very Vanilla. I then decided to tuck my Primrose Petals tag behind the top label and place my circle on top. To finish my card off I added some Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon.

Today over at Create with Connie and Mary we have a fantastic Color Challenge for you...Poppy Parade, Pool Party and Basic Black. I have to say I am going to miss Poppy Parade. It's one of my favorite colors ever. These colors go together so well and make for a vibrant and cheerful card. For my card I used the new Betsy's Blossoms Stamp Set from the upcoming catalog. There are some amazing new sets and accessories in there. I wasn't sure about this set at first, but it's growing on me. I stamped my flower in Poppy Parade and punched it out with my 2 1/2 in. Circle Punch. I then added a black Glimmer Brad to the middle. The Pool Party scalloped edge was cut out using the Decorative Trim Die and I added a Basic Black Taffeta Bow to finish it off. I really love how this card turned out. I can't decide if it's the stamp set or the color combo.
