They are one of the most fun couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Betsy had the most amazing dress and, of course, kept spinning in it since it looked so cool – thus I kept photographing it because it WAS so cool! Betsy was the ultimate DIY bride, she made the bouquets herself, boutonnieres,  and each of the bridesmaids’ ribbons/belts. I think she could make a career out of being a florist, her bouquets were amazing! They had goldfish as their table centerpieces at the reception, which I loved. Since this wedding was a couple weeks ago I’ve thought a few times about going out and getting a fishtank. :)

Their wedding ceremony took place at the absolutely gorgeous >Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception< in Denver. Betsy and Matt asked me if we could have a few hours in between to take lots of photos and this photographer was thrilled. We did photos at the cathedral and then made a trip out to Red Rocks and Lookout Mountain Park for photos before beginning the reception later that evening at the >Crystal Rose< up in the mountains. One of the highlights of the day was photographing Betsy’s large family in the cathedral. She requested a huge group photo where no one was looking at the camera because, as she put it, “it’s so us!”

I really enjoyed their day, their families and their amazing, fun, and relaxed attitudes about the whole wedding. I also loved that Matt kept his “Groom” sticker to wear from the Rocky Mountain Bridal Show where I met them! Can’t wait to keep working with these two and being a part of their lives. Thank you Betsy and Matt for letting me enjoy your day!!!

Being allowed to lay on the furniture you are NOT supposed to lay on? Waiting at the door for a walk? Wearing the fur coat you have in the winter? For the record that fur coat was not purchased by me…oh no. When I sent my husband out for the holidays last year to pick up some dog presents he came back with that for Opal. Sometimes I think my husband is more into clothes than I am. I meant pick up presents as in dog treats…

Anyway I found these photos from earlier this winter when I was going through camera memory cards and I realized I never unloaded them and that you surely wouldn’t want to miss Lily’s sad face.

I was so excited to finally see their wedding day and be a part of everything. They were lucky to be surrounded by super awesome friends and great family. My favorite thing about them? That she got him into motorcycles. I want to do a little snap and tell Sarah, “you go girl.” If you don’t remember their engagement session you can check it out >here< (fall motorcycles!!)

Their ceremony was super cool. The flower girl just brought the basket up front instead of dropping flowers – totally adorable. Sarah and Trevor also did a water ceremony. Trevor’s cup overflowed with love for Sarah (literally). For a man who doesn’t dance we even saw Trevor out on the dance floor that night!

I mean seriously. I get to indulge my nerdy side at Mandy and Will’s Halloween wedding this year? This might be the best Halloween ever. I am so EXCITED.

What’s even more exciting is when Mandy and I started pinning photos for her engagement shoot and they included some comic books and some Superman…my nerdy side got all kinds of giddy!

It’s been a couple weeks since this shoot and I’ve found myself on a regular basis trying to come up with a dynamite costume, but I’ll probably resort to dressing up as the “press” because their wedding is totally not my show. :)

Aside from comic books we did take a few classic engagement shots. I have to say Mandy is amazingly gorgeous and Will is such an awesome guy. They even put up with my random desire to take morbid photos at the cemetery (see the candid at the end), but I can brush it off as fitting their Halloween theme…right? Can’t wait until October!!!

Much. Fun. Three words that sum up this event. Any time I have a last minute chance to jump in and help out a fellow photographer friend it’s a great time. I love it! It’s so funny because I have never second shot for any other photographer until this year (I know, I’m backwards like that). Now this is the third time and it was awesome. I hope Heather Richardson and I will get to work together again!! When she was asking around looking for someone to help her out with her vintage/airplane/candy-filled event I was all about it!

This was probably the most awesome birthday party ever, old airplanes and vintage everything. Best part? Everyone was in costume from their socks all the way up to their stylin’ mustaches. I sorta wish people would dress like this all the time, it would give me an excuse to wear a feather boa and carry around one of those oh-so-fashionable long cigarette holders and pretend I smoke (I don’t!).

What’s a photographer to do? Take the headshots of course!

Marty is a great guy and was so into photographing during our awesome golden hour light, telling us about his career, teaching acting classes and more. I’ve shared a few photos of his session on Facebook already and although he might be Patrick Dempsey’s double, I assure you – he’s not!

Thanks Marty for a great evening out in downtown Denver! Oh and you’ll have to excuse Winston from wandering through our photos and looking all handsome. Who can say no to that charming bulldog??

In all the years I’ve been a wedding photographer I’ve always been the primary so when my friend Lee from Lee Sun Hee Photography said she needed some help with a 400 person wedding I totally jumped at the chance. 400 people is a LOT of guests!

We had so much fun at this wedding. It was 50s themed and there was a mariachi band to round it all out! The mariachi guys were so much fun to photograph and there were some super friendly guests there, even one who had awesome skeleton tights – see below!

Being able to be a part of a photography community where we can help each other out and second shoot for each other is amazing. I’ve been helping out another photographer friend of mine when I’m not already booked this summer and we have a great time. Sometimes the photography community can be so competitive, negative and just downright mean. I’m glad to say I have friends who are photographers and that we have each other’s back!
