You're far more likely to be in a car accident in winter than in summer. Cut the odds by taking simple precautions and following these common-sense driving tips.

Step 1: Check your vehicle Prepare your car for the winter.

BIARRITZ, FRANCE — Questions are being raised again concerning the safety of Tesla cars after a brand new Tesla Model S P90D burst into flames during a test drive in France.

Tesla hosted an event in the French city of Biarritz over the weekend to promote its Model S and Model X cars.

According to Redditor 3dkSdkvDskReddit, who posted a photo of the burning car online, a couple were test driving a new Tesla Model S P90D accompanied by a Tesla employee on Sunday.

As they were driving, they suddenly heard a loud noise, and the dashboard showed a “Problems with charging” visual alert. The Tesla employee quickly guided the couple out of the vehicle. The car burst into flames soon after.

A Tesla spokesperson told news site Electrek that the company is in “full cooperation with authorities” to “establish the facts of the incident.” No one was injured, and the couple was later picked up by a Tesla Model X.

According to Electrek, previous cases of Tesla vehicles catching fire involved severe impacts, particularly when the battery pack was punctured by debris at high speed. Tesla addressed that issue by adding a titanium shield to the battery pack.

Engine Options for Ford Ranger 2016 ► Three engine options will be available for the redesigned Ford Ranger. The first option is a powerful five cylinder TDCi engine with 3.2 liters and 197 hp. Maximum torque of this engine is 470 Nm. By applying new technologies in recirculation of exhaust gases, fuel consumption is reduced by 18 percent. Expected fuel consumption for this engine is 21 mpg for city driving and 30 mpg on the highway. Another option is the new diesel TDCi Duratorq 2.2 liter engine with 158 hp and 385Nm of torque. For which is also increased fuel efficiency by 22 percent. The third is a petrol 2.5 liter Duratec engine with direct injection. This power train will produce 163 hp and given 225 Nm of torque. All engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

There are rumors of a hybrid version of the new Ranger 2016 with Turbocharged 2.3 liter Ecoboost engine with direct injection. The engine will be coupled with electric motors and starters which will give the Ranger excellent fuel consumption, ecological characteristics and high performance. National Guard soldiers and other officials in boats and helicopters plucked more than 1,000 people from their homes and cars. Louisiana's governor called the flooding "Unprecedented " and " historic". He warned that the slow-moving storm would dump even more rain and cause further problems.

At least two people were killed when swift-moving water quickly inundated roads and searches were ongoing for missing people. Gov. John Bel Edwards said the state is still in response mode and urged residents to heed warnings to evacuate. He added that residents should not rely on their past experiences because the state has never seen flooding like this before.

The wheels will be wrapped in performance tires.

The covers have been taken off the Mitsubishi XM Concept Crossover SUV at the ongoing Indonesia International Auto Show 2016. Teased less than two weeks ago, it's immediately obvious just how similar the XM Concept looks to the eX Concept from late-2015. In fact from some angles, it looks almost identical. However, a closer look does reveal a number of distinctive styling elements.

Most significantly, the XM Concept Crossover SUV is slightly larger than the eX Concept, with a higher rear tailgate and less-streamlined roof. The side windows are also larger, the wheels are smaller and there are a couple of roof racks bolted on top. As a matter of fact, the XM Concept almost looks like a production-spec variant of the eX but the Japanese firm is still eager to call it a concept. With that being said, it has been confirmed that the automaker will introduce a small MPV with similar styling to the XM Concept next year, set to be built in a new Indonesian factory.

Inside of the XM Concept are three rows of seats offering enough room to seat seven occupants comfortably, despite the car's relatively small dimensions. No interior shots have been released just yet but thanks to the Tesla Model X-inspired windscreen, it certainly shouldn't be lacking in the natural light department. With production of Mitsubishi's new MPV starting in October 2017, expect to see the finished product early next year.

The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition has been designed to pay homage to the company’s racing heritage. Skoda has revealed its plan for the Indian market that includes the launch of 4 new products – Kodiaq SUV, Octavia RS, Octavia Black Edition and Rapid Monte Carlo. Along with these new models, the Czech carmaker will introduce the Skoda Rapid facelift by the end of this year or early next year. The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition has been designed to pay homage to the company’s racing heritage. In European markets, the Monte Carlo edition package has already been introduced on Rapid, Fabia, Yeti and Citigo. The Rapid’s special edition receives significant cosmetic updates that make it look quite different from the regular model. Painted in the special red colour, the Rapid Monte Carlo features black accents on the front grill, headlamp inserts, alloy wheels, ORVMs, body accents and tail lamps. Other design highlights include revised front bumper with a wider air dam and new horizontal LED fog lamps, Superb-inspired front grille design, new matte black bumper chin and side skirts, black metallic accents on the tail lamps cluster and boot line.

Similar to its exterior design, the interior of the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition highlights Skoda’s racing traits with features like sporty bucket-style upholstery with red, grey and black colour seats, carbon fibre-design dashboard trim and stainless steel pedals. What further enhance its sporty appeal are unique instrument cluster and multi-functional flat bottom steering wheel sheathed in red-stitched perforated leather. Powering the new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition will be the same 1.5-litre turbo diesel and the 1.6-litre MPI petrol engines that do duty in the regular model. The former is capable of developing a maximum power of 103bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the latter one offers 103bhp and 153Nm. Transmission options on offer will be a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic. Skoda India will introduce the Rapid Monte Carlo edition sometime next year. The E-Class L is unmistakably an E-Class, but it does boast some distinctive styling characteristics that make it stand out. First, the C-pillar gets Mercedes Mercedes ’ triangular window treatment seen on other sedans like the S-Class. The roofline also slopes at a lesser angle than the standard E-Class, giving rear passengers more headroom and an easier entry into the car.

Of course, the rear doors are longer by more than five inches, adding to both the visual and actual length of the car. There’s also a unique chrome emblem on the D-pillar. The car carries all the design cues and features as the standard (yet recently updated) 2017 E-Class like the “double eyebrow” design see in the LED daytime running lights. Likewise, the tow versions of LED highlights are available: the standard LED set and the Multibeam LED headlights with 84 individually activated high-performance LEDs.

The front fascia retains the E-Class’ four main openings: the upper grille, the lower center grille, and the two side intakes. A double-bar design on both the upper grille and the two side grilles help give the car extra visual width. Out back, LED taillights are present regardless of which headlight package is ordered. The lower rear fascia is brightened by a lengthy chrome strip that runs between the chrome-tipped exhaust outlets. The horizontal bar is mimicked further up, with a long chrome accent piece running above the license plate. Mercedes didn’t specify what wheel options are offered, but expect to see several varieties of 20- to 22-inch wheel options.

The accommodations inside the E-Class L are well appointed with leather coating nearly everything, while wood and metal act as accents. Up front, the dashboard is all E-Class. Despite the added length, the front seats and their surroundings don’t change. This means the driver still has the dual 12.3-inch screens that display both vehicle information and entertainment selections. The wide dashboard features plenty of high-end materials and excellent build quality that continues onto the center console. A myriad of buttons and knobs are complemented by the rotary dial and scribble pad for controlling soft keys within the infotainment system. The car certainly carries a high-tech feel that well-to-do Chinese customers love.

In back, rear seat passengers now enjoy an extra 5.3 inches of additional legroom. There is room for three, but most E-Class L sedans will likely chauffeur two adults back here. The center armrest folds down, making the bench feel more like two executive recliners. Customers can opt for adding a heating element under the armrest’s leather. There’s also an optional wireless cell phone charger and touch screen controller. The rear seats are also power-operated, giving outboard passengers the ability to recline. Unlike the S-Class Maybach Maybach , however, there is no footrest offered here.

Likewise, you’ll have to upgrade to the Maybach if you’d like the built-in wine cooler found in the Maybach. Thankfully there’s still Maybach touches within the cabin, including the LED accent lighting with 64 different color options. The E-Class L is definitely a welcomed middle ground between the standard E-Class and the more opulent S-Class and outrageous S-Class Maybach. It’s too bad Mercedes is restricting the car to the Chinese market.

Mercedes has yet to divulge much information on the powertrain options within the E-Class L. We do know, however, the car will be available with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and the nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
