Cartune is proud to support this years “Kesgrave Music Festival”. This fantastic day out for all the family takes place on Saturday 6th August from 12 noon until 10.45 pm. at the Kesgrave Community Centre and Playing Fields (off Bell Lane, Kesgrave, Ipswich).

As well as 20 live bands on 2 stages there are food and drink stalls, family entertainments and a fun fair.

Entry is only £5 (you can pay at the gate) all of which is donated to the St. Elizabeth Hospice (Ipswich) and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Try to look at the accelerator pedal as a “tap”. The harder you press on the pedal the more the tap begins to open, in-turn making the fuel flow faster. Rapid acceleration considerably increases fuel consumption. Softer acceleration along with the correct gear selection will help you to gain better fuel efficiency.
Driving at a slightly slower speed means that your engine produces less CO2 which is good for the environment and will also save you money on fuel costs. You could save as much as 9% on your fuel bill by cruising at 60 mph instead of 70 mph and get as much as 15% improvement if you can drop down to 50 mph!
Trying to accelerate the car whilst in too high a gear wastes fuel because you need to push the accelerator pedal down further than you would if you were in a lower gear. A good driver using a car with a manual gearbox will get better economy using the gearbox correctly.
Turn your engine off if you know that you are going to be stationary for anything over 3 minutes, you’re just wasting fuel.
You will be amazed at how much more efficiently an engine works when its oil and fuel systems are clean. Together with a regular service you’re engine will use less fuel.
Using the brakes excessively wastes fuel by converting it into heat at the braking mechanism. If you can lift off the accelerator and change down to the correct gear slowing down more gradually, using the brakes less you will save fuel. This requires the driver to think a little bit further ahead also promoting safer driving.
Having the correct air pressure in your tyres is not only a good safety point; it will also help the fuel economy. Check them regularly and especially before you go on any long trips.
Removing any unnecessary extra weight could reduce the load on your engine. You can cut your CO2 emissions and burn less fuel by unloading any items you won’t need before you set off on your journey. If you don’t need a roof rack take it off, it can make a big difference.
Switch off the Air Conditioning when you don’t need it. Although you do need to use the Air Con. occasionally to keep the system working you will be surprised at how much extra fuel is needed to run it.
Finally regularly buying cheap quality fuel can be a false economy. Used frequently, as well as giving fewer miles per gallon it can cause fouling of engine components, in particular the intake/exhaust valves and fuel injectors. The result, eventually a badly running engine and a significant reduction in performance and economy!
