hi folks ,, as most of you know many folks will have their own way of sharpening knives i found a way that is inexpensive and simple to use,, and like most bigger systems can cost hundreds of dollars,, if your like me you know that many of us have tried all kinds of systems, that work great for a while till we find something always better,,,, so here is my story

i wanted to make a system of my own,, i came up with a neat little sharpener that it portable and very easy to use,, it has a strop wheel and a buffer ,, i got the machine at harbor freight for around 30 bucks and i make the strop wheel,, and added a hard to find buffer to fit,, cost for strop wheel is 17.00 and 13.00 for the buffer ,, total is 30 and 5.50 to ship in the usa,, if interested please email me at carverswoodshop@yahoo.com

if you need tools i will have them available here ,, a knife , strop, thumb guard and a glove along with a dockyard v-3 tool,, cost is 55.00 this is required when taking a class,, thanks ,, artleen

happy new year folks,, as i continue to post on facebook,, i wanted to update you this post was done on facebook and the next couple of posts will be about classes .

As a new year begins .. and the last year is just a memory.. have to say I wasn't sad to see 2014 come to an end.. many of us said goodbye to those dear to us. In just our family we had my dad and my mothers sister and a close family friend that past. ,thinking what the new year will bring and hoping it will be a calmer time... but there were some good things too. Had some wonderful folks with me along the way.. last night as I for the first time saw the new year with just mom it hit home.. we don't know what this year will bring but one thing I am certain of I need not face it alone. My faith and my ultimate hope is in Christ alone. By him and only him can I face the future with great expectation. Keep carving. Arleen

some of you have read this before i wrote this a few years ago, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL,, may you find peace and happiness ,, blessing,, arleen

CHRISTMAS POEM , BY ARLEEN ZOMER ,,
twas the night before christmas and all through the house,
a carver was carving , and quiet as a mouse

late at night , all you could see ,
was a light on in the shop where the carver would be,

basswood in one hand and a knife in the other
a gift it would be for sister or brother,

the carver kept working late into the night
knowing all to well it would soon be light

when the carving is done he looks with delight
to be able to give it away to someone tonight

and the smiles it will bring to the ones that he gives ,
the carver will cherish it as long as he lives
merry christmas,

hi everyone ,, as christmas will be here in a few days,, the season of santa carving comes to another close,,, it been a good month,, i enjoy seeing some of the local folks stopping in ,, and also having set up at 4 street cafe,, and will again in jan,, looking forward to having some new classes this winter,, starting jan 17th,, with the pinecone class for beginners,, selling some tools now which i didnt do before but thought it was time to at least sell what i use,, and so things keep moving forward, and some of last carving for this year,, i had fun,, :)

hi folks i have my sitting bald headed santas, ( coffee santa,) my sister was here for a visit and ask if i could make one holding a wine bottle,, so i made two for her they went to canada, lol the one with the coffee cup with a windmill went to my uncle in holland ,, my holland coffee santa,, many folks seem to like them,, they were fun to do along with some new style santas, from the past but added much more detail then my very first santa,, i enjoy making them,,now to paint them

the ones with the wine bottle are the AFTER CHRISTMAS SANTAS lol

and some new style santa,, yet to be painted
