We have a cherry tree, but these did not come from it. I only wish! I loved the lighting and colors, though, and had to capture them.

Datura, a.k.a. moonflower. Found in a canyon along the San Juan River shortly after a rain storm. Behind it is an ancient Anasazi ruin (not visible). I usually do monochrome treatments with a sepia tone, so went for a more bluish tone here.

Sunshine loves to throw rocks into the creek. Around our house, this favorite past time is called “plunking”. I loved the way her little feet were splashing in the water, so I took a quick shot. By the end of this excursion she was wet, muddy, tired, and so, so happy.

Not sure what type of flower this is, because I actually took this photo a while ago, but I’m going to go with thistle.

A bosc pear on a plate. Part two of a two-part series. See the first one, and an explanation, here.

I have always loved the shape and texture and color of pears, but have never before photographed them. I cut this one up for Sunshine’s snack a few days ago. As I popped it in the plastic bag to save for later, I began to admire the polka dot skin, the rough cuts, and the shiny seeds just peeking through. The light filtering through our north-facing window was perfect, so I placed it on a plate on the coffee table, got out my camera and macro lens, and went to work. I’ll have another shot of this pear on Thursday, in color and from a different angle. This was a fun experiment. Although this one was with a bosc pear, I plan to try one of the red-hued ones someday.
